Officially confirmed earlier this week, the first screens of Beautiful Katamari Damacy are rolling in (see what we did there?). The handful of screens show off what we've all grown to love about Katamari Damacy: giant balls of stuff. The image above contains a katamari that has grown to a size of over 7,000 kilometers. The second shot displays a much more diminutive katamari (only 13 centimeters tall). Of course, Katamari Damacy shots wouldn't be complete without a rainbow enveloped shot of the King of All Cosmos. Hit the "read" link to check out all three new shots.

Do you like crack? We hope not. Crack is scary and dangerous. If you step on a crack, you'll potentially risk breaking your mother's back. Speaking of crazy things that make absolutely no sense, a sequel to the cult hit Katamari Damacy that has become so popular on the blog world because of its quirkiness (almost equalling the quirkiness of some of the quirky blog writers out there -- they've got quirky tastes... quirky quirky quirky) has been officially confirmed.Beautiful Katamari is due out eventually for the PS3 and 360. So far, there's rumors of online play but no details. Probably a cooperative and competitve service. The scale is going to be massive -- a screenshot in Famitsu shows a katamari rising well beyond 7,000km. That's huge. Once we snag some more information, we'll proudly roll it into a ball and deliver it to you. And subsequently roll you into the ball.

A recent issue of Famitsu has confirmed one of the gaming industry's worst kept secrets. That's right, Beautiful Katamari Damacy is headed to the Xbox 360 and PS3 (here are the scans to prove it). Long rumored via rental and retail listings Beautiful Katamari Damacy will be the first iteration of the series to roll onto a Microsoft platform. The controls will remain true to the PS2 originals and Famitsu reports that the katamaris (the giant junk ball pictured above) can reach heights of over 10,000 kilometers. Also planned for the game is some kind of online play, though no specific details have been confirmed. Beautiful Katamari Damacy is reportedly 50% complete, with no release date announced at this time.[Via Joystiq]

  • Rumorang: Gamefly says Beautiful Katamari this fall

Gamefly, the online game rental service, has never been the harbinger of new releases; but unless they're getting into the habit of offering up officially unannounced games, expect Beautiful Katamari to release in October for PS3 and Xbox 360. The Wii version supposedly comes out one month later. Although October and November look like placeholders at this point, maybe spurred by previous rumors, the fact that the game is even listed is a good sign that the King of all Cosmos will send his son to roll balls on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii this fall.Like the ESRB database, Gamefly might become a nice source for future, and especially in this case, unannounced games. If this becomes a habit for the service, we wonder what other treasures Gamefly may accidentally tell us in the future. We will certainly laugh if they end up making the Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII announcements for Xbox 360 before anyone else.In related news, OrangeLoungeRadio, who originally reported the rumor of Beautiful Katamari, wrote last week their Katamari "story has been removed by request from Namco Bandai." A nice strong-arm tactic by Namco Bandai that does nothing but show OrangeLoungeRadio was on the money the whole time. We've contacted Namco for a statement about Beautiful Katamari. The Prince's cosmic Leo is certainly out of the bag.[Thanks DPCough]

  • Beautiful Katamari for 360 now on Gamefly

It looks like Beautiful Katamari is now as close to official confirmation as possible. A listing for the game has appeared on Gamefly, ready to be inserted into your queue (ewww) at a moment's notice. The game is slated for an October 30th release, though that could easily be a placeholder date. It's not official confirmation, but we find it hard to believe that Gamefly is in the habit of offering games that don't exist. • Is Beautiful Katamari coming to the 360?

That radio lounge of orangeness Orange Lounge Radio is reporting that Namco's Beautiful Katamari will be gracing the Xbox 360 this October. OLR claims that the information comes from someone in the video game distribution circle and even goes as far to nail down a date and price. They say we'll be seeing an October 17th release for Beautiful Katamari with a retail price tag of $39.99. We're always skeptical about rumors and so the validity of this news (though, OLR defends their story), especially since the Katamari franchise has been built upon a not so solid foundation. No less, we'd love to roll balls of junk around on our 360 this October and think a lot of fanboys would enjoy the colorful experience at a $40 price point.[Via Joystiq]
