In his article on the upcoming Bourne Conspiracy, Paul Hyman of The Hollywood Reporter poses a rather humorous question, "Is there suddenly some stigma against movie games?" Yes, Paul, there is, but it's not a sudden dread as much as it is a long history of horrific movie tie-ins, from E.T. to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Saying your project is not a "movie game" is a way of reassuring your audience that some thought will be put into its development. The plot of Bourne Conspiracy contains elements of The Bourne Identity while adding new material approved by author Robert Ludlum's estate. Developer High Moon Studio's chief creative officer Emmanuel Valdez told Hyman that, in keeping with the theme of the movie, gadgetry will be minimal while using your environment will be important. Also taken from the films is Director Paul Greengrass' (in)famous shaky camera technique.Notice how the Jason Bourne character doesn't resemble Matt Damon? That's going to stay that way, as Valdez said they see The Bourne Conspiracy as the start of a franchise, adding that a sequel is already being planned. Conspiracy is currently shooting for a Summer 2008 release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.%Gallery-4294%

This is a pretty cool trailer for the mobile version of The Bourne Ultimatum, with some great side scrolling action sequences reminiscent of the flash series Xiao Xiao. Unfortunately, those moments of shadow-fighting are only part of this pretty awesome trailer and not, unfortunately, actual gameplay footage. The real game looks like what you see above -- which is not bad for a mobile game, but after seeing the rest of the trailer, we're a bit disappointed. Video embedded after the break.

Yes folks, another tie-in. The Bourne Ultimatum is coming to theaters this summer while a different, next-gen offering The Bourne Conspiracy, hits PS3 and Xbox 360 next year in 2008. The game is tailoring its plot around Jason Bourne's identity, borrowing heavily from source materials of ... The Bourne Identity. We don't fully understand why Ludlum Entertainment doesn't just call the game The Bourne Identity, other than perhaps to induce confusion amongst the franchise titles. Considering the first film already has a well-established fan base, it would seem starting the game franchise at the base level and allowing sequels to follow the film release time line would make more sense. But hey, we don't make games, we just play 'em. What do we know? Fans of The Bourne Identity novel and film reiteration will also notice new story elements added to the game. For example, the game will include the pivotal moment when Jason Bourne first learns his identity and the discovery of the overabundant cans of whoopin' he has at his disposal. No release date yet, but expect to hear more on this after The Bourne Ultimatum's release this summer and subsequent (and highly likely) DVD release.[Update: The Bourne Ultimatum is coming to theaters this summer. The Bourne Conspiracy is the game title only, of which there has yet to be a film reiteration. Corrections made to the post clarifying this. Thanks, The Sh0wstopper & Jon K]
