Buckeye Cable, which serves upwards of 150,000 customers in the greater Toledo / Sandusky, Ohio area, is looking to make some pretty big changes. The carrier has just upgraded its SeaChange VOD infrastructure in order to "dramatically expand" its HD video-on-demand offerings, and on top of that, it's also hoping to launch a Start Over-type service to help those who notoriously show up late for their favorite show. Better still, the company is looking to expand its linear HD lineup by adding in 15 to 25 new ones over the next 9 to 12 months. Pretty big words for a "small" provider -- guess we'll have to wait and see if it delivers.

It's been way too long since Buckeye CableSystem customers in Ohio received any new HD channels, but this winter they'll be feasting their eyes upon four newcomers. As of this week, subscribers can find ABC Family HD, ESPNews HD, ESPNU HD and Disney HD on the EPG, which ought to be perfect for the sports / holiday favorites ahead.[Thanks, Charlie]

We had a feeling folks on both sides of the WNWO / Buckeye CableSystem table would come to terms in order to keep the Olympics coverage flowin' despite their disagreements, but it seems the future beyond that is still murky. The local NBC affiliate in Toledo, Ohio will allow coverage to continue on the aforesaid carrier until August 24th, but there are still terms to hash out before a retransmission agreement for September and beyond is agreed upon. Nothing like broadcast drama, right?[Thanks, Keith]

While many of the big boys have been rolling out new HD channels over the past couple of weeks, it seems as if Buckeye CableSystem, which services northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, is doing a fairly decent job of keeping up. According to a "Coming Soon" page on the company's website, subscribers will have access to A&E HD (637), History HD (659) and MGM HD (696) on April 15th. Yeah, a few more SD channels are hopping on too, but c'mon, it's not like you even surf by that section of the EPG, right?[Thanks, Charlie]
