Just in case you couldn't wait to get your hands on one of those extremely gross real-life Mana Energy Potions we posted about a while back, now's your chance: ThinkGeek is selling them at a reasonable price (even though actually drinking them probably isn't reasonable at all). As mephron points out on WoW LJ, the nutritional stats are atrocious: B12 is definitely good for you, but putting 6667% of anything's daily allowance in your system just doesn't seem right. And Robin was right -- these have a ton of caffeine in them. ThinkGeek says there's 160mg of caffeine in each bottle. That's not exactly lethal, of course (the lethal dose is about 150mg per kg of body mass), but finishing off a six pack of these over a weekend of gaming will not be good for us. Still, if you want them after all that, there you go.

  • The Daily Grind: In the wee small hours

It seems like no matter what game you come from, one particular thing is pretty universal; the idea of staying up late at night gaming. And before anyone starts in with "OMG, that so isn't me!" -- if there weren't truth at some levels for most of us, phrases such as "one more level" or "just let me finish this quest" wouldn't be so funny. I know speaking personally, I've been up far past my normal bedtime lately (hooray for a break before next term) and my power-fuel of choice is just good old fashioned coffee with some good music going on my headset. I think the walk from my office to the coffee-pot helps, too. But (assuming you're willing to admit it) if you're one of the late-night set -- even just occasionally -- what's your best method for staying awake when you just have to push through to the other end of that quest or level? Do you like to game with a TV on to keep a certain level of noise going? Are you like me and our very own Moo, ready to buy stock in your respective caffeinated beverage because of your utter addiction to it? Or do you have some other trick to help you stay up through the wee night hours so you can finish up those pesky quests and levels? Alternately, do you think that anyone who puts gaming before sleep needs to switch those two things around?

We love being caffeine-riddled enough to stay up and game all night. We're certainly intrigued to hear that the makers of the immensely popular Red Bull energy drink have signed a collaboration deal with UK developer FreeStyleGames. FreeStyle's Chris Lee says the deal, "goes way beyond in-game advertising deals seen in video games to date" and that they are, "working hand-in-hand to co-develop and design compelling, triple A titles that will be a true reflection of the Red Bull Energy Drink brand." Anyone else conjuring up nostalgic images of Cool Spot, featuring 7 UP's mascot? We'll have to wait and see if FreeStyle's collaboration will bear any similar surprises.[Via Eurogamer]
