Leave it to my coworker here at Massively to find a way to suggest a new focus in my Captain's Log columns. Since many of us will be waiting impatiently for the next teaser for March Beneath the Raptor's Wings due out on March 21st, I had been a little worried that news on the Star Trek Online front would be a little thin. Therefore, I was very happy for a suggestion that came about after a tweet from Beau Hindman generated responses suggesting that I take on this subject. So for the next couple of weeks I will be writing about some of the major changes Star Trek Online has undergone in the past two years in the hopes it can help out folks like Beau who are returning to the game after a long absence.

Like previous columns about The 2800, this column is an overview and will contain spoilers. If you have not yet played this mission or do not want to know about what happens, stop right here! Star Trek Online continues its recent featured episode series, The 2800, with Facility 4028, a meticulously created mission that places the player's character into the unenviable position of being caught in the middle of a Starfleet prison when all hell breaks loose. It's a fun little trip, and I believe it's an installment worthy of the reputation garnered by the more intricate missions seen in STO's previous series, Cloaked Intentions. Join me for a recap of this adventure!

With the addition of the feature episodes, the team at Cryptic Studios has been hard at work expanding the missions and storyline of Star Trek Online. Players are sent to all manner of exotic locales and required to get to the bottom of all manner of craziness, such as this particular story arc that involves the Romulans. Today's Star Trek Online image comes to us from our regular contributor, Ocho, who didn't go too far into detail as to what precisely we're seeing here, noting only: "[This is] from the recent Cloaked Intentions series that just finished up, which is easily the best feature episode series to date." Find something worth sharing on your recent adventures? Want to tell us about the awesome mission you just completed? We're all about it! All you have to do is snap a great screenshot to go along with your note and email it in to us here at oneshots@massively.com. Please make sure you include your name and the name of the game along with your note and screenshot so we can credit you properly. Your picture could be the very next one we post here on One Shots. %Gallery-112285%

Ready for Star Trek Online's newest Featured Episode series? Well, ready or not, Cryptic is here to give us the skinny on Series 3: Cloaked Intentions. New episodes under each Feature banner take a bow on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. PST and are freely available to all STO players regardless of level. The new Cloaked Intentions arc involves a series of missions focused on the Romulan Empire; the overarching goal of participating players is the prevention of a bloody civil war. The intrigue kicks off today with Episode 1: The Vault, followed by episodes 2 - 5 every Saturday through March 5th. You can learn more at the official STO website, and don't forget to warp past the cut for the Cloaked Intentions trailer.
