Variety is reporting that Travis Fimmel, who plays Ragnar Lothbrok in the History Channel series Vikings, is set to star in the upcoming Warcraft movie. A formal offer hasn't been presented yet, but their sources say he will be playing one of the four lead roles in the film. Last month, it was reported that Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) was in negotiations for one of the lead roles. Colin Farrell has reportedly been offered a lead but it's uncertain how likely he is to sign on. The plot of the movie has been a carefully guarded secret and all we really know is there will be four lead characters. We should find out more at BlizzCon where there will be a panel dedicated to the Warcraft movie with Duncan Jones (Director), Chris Metzen, and Rob Pardo. Warcraft will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.

Here's one from the rumor mill: The long delayed World of Warcraft movie, set to finally start filming in January of 2014, might just have its first two high-profile cast members. According to industry buzz, Paula Patton (Mission Impossible: The One Where Tom Cruise Hangs from a Building) and Colin Farrell (Scrubs) are on deck for leading roles, with Patton already in the contracting phase. Other names have cropped up in relation to the film; Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels), and Anton Yelchin (Star Trek) are all on the rumored shortlist for parts. Whatever your thoughts on potential actors, the fact that casting is actually getting done seems to indicate that the WoW movie might actually get made this time around. Moon director Duncan Jones is set to steer the project, which is aimed at a 2015 release.

It's a rumor, but an interesting one ... apparently Colin Farrell has already been offered a role in the new Warcraft movie, and Paula Patton is in the contracting stage. Legendary Pictures and Atlas Entertainment are doing the casting, and things certainly seem to be moving forward. Which, despite whatever you might think of these two choices, is good news for the film. It's been plagued for years with various ups and downs. Finally getting to the point of actually casting the movie should be cause for celebration around the halls of Blizzard Entertainment. Of course now the question turns to what Farrell and Patton would be best at in the Warcraft universe. I'm thinking Medivh for Farrell (I mean, he's got mad wizard written all over him). And Patton as Jaina, although she'd have to dye her hair. Or maybe she's evil Jaina... #NotAnAnnouncement The Warcraft movie is set to begin filming in 2014.

  • Japanese movie theaters to get Internet-controlled "Smell-O-Vision"

In yet another gimmicky attempt to revitalize sagging box office sales, NTT Communications Corp will be installing fragrance-releasing equipment (think: giant Glade Plug-Ins) in several Japanese theaters that mixes different herbs and oils to create aromas that supposedly enhance key on-screen plot elements. According to Kyodo News, NTT "will use the Internet" to synchronize the scent generators -- which are located under what we assume to be more-pricey "aroma premium seats" -- during seven scenes of the multi-theater April 22nd premier. Colin Farrell lovers will be pleased to learn that the first movie to get this 21st century "Smell-O-Vision" treatment is the actor's 2005 film, 'The New World," whose tale of love between Pilgrims and Native Americans will no doubt result in a heavy odor of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie lingering in the theaters for weeks.

Because one of the few things we like better than HDTV is explosions, pastel suits and Miami......in HD. I have no idea if this movie is going to be good or not but all you have to say is Crockett and Tubbs and I am there.[Via digg]
