The pandemonium of Black Friday has now subsided, leaving Amazon with nothing but a big grin and stellar sales. According to the retailer, the Kindle Fire dominated this year's one-day extravaganza, standing proud as the top-selling product across all of Amazon.com and the best-selling tablet at Target. Amazon also claims to have sold four times as many Kindle products as it did during last year's post-Thanksgiving rush, though it didn't divulge any precise figures -- Cyber Monday, after all, is far from over. Head past the break for the full PR.

Continue reading Amazon sees huge jump in Kindle Black Friday sales, Fire leads the way

Amazon sees huge jump in Kindle Black Friday sales, Fire leads the way originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 28 Nov 2011 06:49:00 EST. Black Friday is just around the bend -- in less than 36 hours, many a deal hunter will be camping outside their prospective Wally Worlds searching for prey. Thankfully, we've eagled-up in advance and thrown together a few deals in the meantime that should cause a sparkle in at least a few eyes. (Just to be safe, we've also included links to each store's full line-up of deals.) So, join us after the break, read along and see if anything strikes your interest. What's to lose, really? A chance to miss out on a good deal, of course! Feel free to thank us later or let us know about anything else you spot in the comments below.

Continue reading Engadget's Black Friday 2011 roundup

Engadget's Black Friday 2011 roundup originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 25 Nov 2011 15:00:00 EST. Man, Motorola's not going to be pleased about this! The Droid X is justifiably one of Verizon's marquee devices for this holiday season and takes pride of place on the carrier's Cyber Monday offers page, but wait... why does its screen display the iPhone version of Google Maps? Oops!
It's become a yearly tradition for many, cut the Thanksgiving Day turkey, and soon after slide a new HDTV, Blu-ray player, or stack of movies into the living room. We're wondering if any of you found a deal among the many offered that made you bite, or if you managed to resist the temptation. There's still several Cyber Monday deals going on including:

Woot is offering a refurbished 1080p Optoma HD180 projector for $649
Amazon already sold out of its Gold Box Deal of the Day VIZIO TV, but you can still snag a Roku XD for $67.99, plus discounted Blu-ray movies or LG TVs and Blu-ray players
Discovery is offering the Oprah version of Life on Blu-ray for just $25

If you see any other notables let us know in the comments, but first go ahead and answer our poll question for the week.
View Poll

Poll: Did you buy any new HD stuff on Black Friday / Cyber Monday? originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 29 Nov 2010 12:45:00 EST. In Soviet Bulgaria, we don't have Cyber Mondays, but from what we've been told this is a pretty bargainous time of the year. HP starts us off with a pair of coupons on its dv8 Core i7 notebook, one of which drops the 18.4-inch laptop to just $899. There are also deep 50 percent discounts on its printers, but only the Photosmart Premium All-in-One remains after the two cheaper models sold out. Click the Logic Buy link below to get in on the action. Amazon has the older Modern Warfare at $29.95 and Uncharted 2 at $40 flat for the PS3, Garmin's nuvi 260W at a cent under $115 (or half price), and plenty of discounts on DVDs, gadgetry and even clothing. Best Buy keeps pace by offering the same price on the Garmin nav unit, as well as 10 percent discounts on Apple's iPod range. Walmart is kicking off a whole Cyber Week with a Sony Bravia 32-inch HDTV priced at $398 and a $249 Nintendo Wii Value Bundle, which includes Wii Sports, sporting peripherals, and a choice of free game. If you're more interested in computer components, Newegg's $30 mail-in rebate on the 120GB OCZ Agility SSD will net you the drive for $289, our favorite of a plethora of deals at the online store. And finally, Dell is offering the Droid Eris for free when taking out a new Verizon Wireless account, which is at least $30 cheaper than you can get it anywhere else. Time to get clicking!
Let's face it: this year's recession-busting Black Friday sucked, featuring a few good deals but no single blockbuster worth getting up at 2:00 am to stand in the cold. Over the weekend we still maintained a bit of hope that Cyber Monday would bring something worth getting excited about, and while right now it looks like we're set for another disappointingly bargain-free day full of nothing but work and turkey sandwiches, one deal did catch our eye. Amazon has a Nintendo DS up for just $99; that's $30 less than you'll find it elsewhere -- if you can find it elsewhere. The catch is it's the "Limited Edition Pink Ribbon" version, and pink and white is not exactly the perfect color scheme for those about to rock. However, a deftly-placed AC/DC sticker might let you feel the joy of supporting a good cause this holiday season ($5 goes to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation) while also avoiding any embarrassing taunting from thoughtless friends.

Update: This deal is done! Back up to $129.99.

[Via I4U]

Amazon kicks off Cyber Monday with $99 Nintendo DS originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 01 Dec 2008 08:24:00 EST. "Cyber Monday." You probably couldn't pick a worse name for a day of conspicuous, retailer-defined consumerism, but you're welcome to try. SanDisk decided to forgo the Black Friday insanity and instead run with three days of Cyber Monday sales, with up to 60% off those boring, ever-necessary flash memory products it's so well known for -- and Sansa players aplenty.

SanDisk slashes some prices for the weekend, heading into world's worst-named Monday originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 29 Nov 2008 13:48:00 EST.
