CES Unveiled: Dexim's Lightning Power Skin and Music Talking Stylus
We looked at Dexim's chargers last year, but the company is rolling out a new Lightning port Power Skin for the iPhone, as seen above. It should sell for US$60 and be available at the end of January. For those of you who still have 30-pin iPhones, they were handing out samples of the ClickStick Bluetooth remote for the iPhone's camera. I'll have a review of that next week. One crazy accessory they were pushing as well was a Bluetooth stylus, which you can use to listen to music (you can actually plug your headphones into the end of it), or use it as a sort of pen phone, as it has a microphone on it. Crazy stuff, but it just might be a hit. Then again, it is called the Music Talking Stylus and will be available for $79.99 in February. Engadget has a gallery of the Music Talking Stylus here.
Dexim's Music Talking Stylus writes, rocks and listens
Styli? Boring. Sure you can draw and write with the things, but what happens when you want to rock? Reach for Dexim's Music Talking Stylus, naturally. The pen input device communicates via Bluetooth to your smartphone or tablet, letting you use it to wirelessly listen to music or talk to your pals. The stylus has a built-in volume button and vibration functionality. There's a headphone jack on one end and when you remove the rubber nub, you gain access to its microUSB port for charging when its five-hours of battery life run down. If you're so inclined to purchase such a thing, it'll run you around $80 when it drops in Q2. Follow all the latest CES 2013 news at our event hub.
AppSpeed Monster Truck is controlled by your iPad, iPad, iPad (video)
What Dexim's tiny AppSpeed Monster Truck lacks in actual car crushing prowess, it makes up in Apple device compatibility -- and that's gotta account for something, right? The little RC car can be controlled by users' iPhones, iPads or iPod touches, with the help of the company's iOS app, utilizing the devices' built-in accelerometer for 360 degree control of the Monster Truck. The car will be available for $69. As for the app, that will be offered for free through iTunes. Video and PR after the break, break, break.
Dexim's Frixbee and Visible G chargers on display at CES 2011
Accessory manufacturer Dexim had a whole booth full of charging products on display at CES, but two caught our eye while walking around the show floor. The first was the Frixbee induction charging setup above, which consists of an induction pad with room for two different devices and a case that goes on your iPhone 4. The case is pretty slim, though it takes up the iPhone's dock connector while charging, so I'd have to remove it when going out. The induction pad has a magnet in it that will help center your device in the right spot. It's the best implementation of induction (wireless) charging I've seen, though I'm still hoping for induction components as a built-in part of the iPhone, rather than relying on an add-on case. The Frixbee will be sold for about US$80 and should be available around May. The other cool product was the Visible G (for Green) charging cable. It's a standard charging cable for iPhone with one difference: it lights up while charging. LED light moves along the cable, slowly when the phone is low on charge, and faster when it's almost full. You can see from across the room how much charging your iPhone needs. The charger is "green" because it will cut off the power once your phone is fully charged; most chargers continue to pull juice out of the wall. The Visible G is due out in the first week of March for $39.95.
Dexim MHub mixes up an iPod dock with a USB hub
We're actually sort of surprised that we haven't seen many more iPod dock / USB hub / card reader hybrids, but the Dexim MHub here is the only one we can recall seeing apart from the Griffin Simplifi. At a steep $70, it's certainly not the cheapest way to add three USB ports and an SD card reader, but it certainly does look nice. Should be on sale now.[Via Gear Diary]
Dexim's Shu-Lip for your third-gen iPod shuffle spotted in the wilds of the internet
No, it's not the most terrifically exciting accessory we've ever come across -- but Dexim's Shu-Lip, which plugs into the end of your new iPod shuffle -- conveniently converting it into a thumb drive, is no longer just a render. We'll admit that something about the little guy kind of screams "super cute." It's a bit pricier than we'd first heard -- but $16 is still a really sweet deal, right? Right?

With the promising intro of "when a shuffle kisses a Mac..." we were hoping for something a bit more exciting, but we suppose Dexim's new Shu-Lip will have to do. In completely straightforward and boring fashion, the Shu-Lip is designed to plug into the end of the new iPod shuffle and transform it from miniscule DAP to completely run-of-the-mill thumb drive, replacing that clunky audio-jack-to-USB dongle that the shuffle comes with. Naturally, with such short notice from Apple, it seems like Dexim merely has the renders and a price locked down so far -- the Shu-Lip will ship for $10 whenever it's ready.[Via iLounge]
