Today, Capcom published an updated list of its all-time bestselling video games. The sales figures are correct up to December 31st, 2019, and reaffirm something that most video game fans have been believed or known about for sometime: man, Capcom is killing it. As Video Games Chronicle (VGC) notes, Devil May Cry 5 has now sold 3.1 million copies since its launch last March, making it the top-selling entry in the franchise. Devil May Cry 4, for comparison, currently stands at 3 million sales, while the "DmC" reboot by Ninja Theory has sold 2.4 million units to date.

Capcom's DmC: Devil May Cry flies on the wings of angels and demons to debut at the top spot on Chart-Track's UK sales chart. The reboot, developed by Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword), sold just over a third of what Devil May Cry 4 had when it comboed the number one spot in 2008.The rest of the chart is full of the regular suspects, with FIFA 13 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 sliding down to second and third, respectively, to make room for the Capcom brawler. DmC was the only new release to chart in the top 40 last week. Stylishly swing past the break for the UK top ten.

Capcom just left a massive pile of trailers and screenshots on our doorstep, and rather than breaking them down into a bunch of tiny, annoying posts, we figured it'd be more convenient for you at home to bunch them all together into one big cornucopia of media consumables. Mediumables, if you will.Above and below, you'll find a gameplay trailer of Remember Me, as well as a corresponding gallery. Then, after the break, you'll find trailers and screenshots from pretty much everything else Capcom has going on for a while: Lost Planet 3, DmC: Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 6, Street Fighter X Tekken Vita, Okami HD and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure HD.%Gallery-162365%

  • New Japanese DmC trailer shows Dante whipping platforms into shape

Here's the latest trailer from Ninja Theory's Devil May Cry reboot, hot off Famitsu's YouTube channel. You can see a few of Dante's new navigational tricks around the confusing world of Limbo, as well as a boss battle against a creature known as Succubus. Ugly!

  • DmC's Dante isn't gay, he's just the victim of sensationalist demon news

When the news anchor in this Devil May Cry trailer called Dante a "sexual deviant," the connotations of such a phrase harkened back to eras of gross intolerance of homosexuality in the 70s and 80s, and led us and others on Twitter to question if this new Dante might, himself, be gay."No, he's not gay," Ninja Theory chief designer Tameem Antoniades told us at E3, while Capcom's Motohide Eshiro laughed in the background. His translator said it wasn't the first time they'd been asked. "But I kind of wish he was now," Antoniades said. The news anchor, it turns out, is a demon, and his radical, extremist views on human morality mean he will say anything to villainize Dante in Limbo City, even reverting to out-dated, irreverent labels such as "terrorist" and "sexual deviant" in loud, alarmist segments. Thankfully we don't have anything like that in reality.Dante's redesign stems from Capcom Japan giving Ninja Theory complete creative control over the new title. Capcom wants to connect with the western market in a bold and distinctive way and, to Ninja Theory, that means Dante's new appearance, portraying him with short brown hair, a lean body and sleeping naked, apparently.Dante is a rebel in every sense of the word: His sword is named Rebellion, he's part angel and demon rolled into a fleshy human body, and he's out to destroy Lilith, the demon in control of Limbo City. Anything else you may hear about his character may just be over-hyped lies disguised as truth -- or news.

  • Electric DeLorean DMC-12 prototype goes round and round (and round) in test drive video

It's already clear that you're selling everything you own in an effort to purchase a 2013 DeLorean DMC-12 EV (and in turn, apply for a home tax deduction when you begin to live out of it), but what hasn't been clear is exactly how it'd perform on the wide open road. Truthfully, we still aren't entirely certain of that, but thanks to a raucous new video of a prototype on the track, we do know that it looks like the most (PG) fun you can have while sitting atop four wheels. We aren't going to hold you here any longer -- hop on past the break and mash play. 60mph in 4.9. 88mph in however long you want.

  • DeLorean DMC-12 EV announced for 2013 production, Doc Brown's whip gets real... electric

An electric-powered, production DeLorean? Believe it. It's in part thanks to the eponymously dubbed DeLorean Motor Company of Texas (not to be confused with long defunct DMC), which is known for its modernized restorations of the famed auto -- using original parts with slight modifications incorporating newer accoutrement. The automaker took to its blog this weekend announcing a partnership with Epic EV to make this "all-electric" DMC-12 a reality. Your Houston News reports that it's rated for 260 horsepower with a maximum speed of 125MPH -- although, we all know there's no need to go past 88MPH. It's expected to cost about six-figures, which sadly won't include a Flux Capacitor, but you could always run the app for that with its in-console iPhone holster. The DMC-12 EV is set to be released in 2013, and should be an excellent match for anyone who secured some of those Marty McFly-approved Nike Air Mags a few weeks ago. You'll find full details in the links below.

  • Olympus XZ-1 and other pre-CES camera rumors from Sony and Panasonic

It's no secret that CES is the stage from which camera companies unleash more compact shooters than you can shake a tripod at -- and preceding those come a glut of rumors, naturally. 4/3 Rumors has heard Olympus will unveil the XZ-1 (pictured), which boasts the LX5's 10 megapixel sensor and a none-too-shabby 28-112mm f/1.8-2.5 lens. The site also heard that a few Panasonic model numbers that at this point really don't tell too grand a story: DMC-S1 and S3, DMC-TS3, FH2, and FH5. Meanwhile at Sony Alpha Rumors, the eponymous company will reportedly launch a number of compact cameras (go figure) including a Cybershot DSC-HX1 successor, some new Bloggies, and new 2D and 3D video recorders... and though no Alpha and no NEX models will be on the show floor, the site is also suggesting the future NEX-7 and Alpha A77 models have 1080p60 AVCHD and a 0.1-second autofocus. Latter tidbit notwithstanding, we'd wager by mid-January everything else here will be either confirmed or forgotten.

It was no coincidence that a new Ninja Theory game announcement and a "DMC" trademark were discovered at the same time. Capcom has confirmed that Enslaved/Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory is applying its expertise to demon hunting, with a trailer for DmC: Devil May Cry. What, no number? It's a "rebirth of Devil May Cry," starring a younger Dante who may or may not be experiencing the events in the game for real, judging from the appearance in the trailer of a chained character who may be hallucinating. "We're hoping to make a game that even Capcom can be proud of," Ninja Theory director Tameem Antoniades said on stage. No wonder -- there's good money in pleasing Capcom.

Brace yourself, more e-readers on your way! First up the open platform: DMC Worldwide announces Copia, a social networking / e-book store hybrid that's gearing up hit private beta status this month and public beta in March. With that out of the way, let's talk hardware. Lower on the list of gear is the keyboard-laden Tidal with a 6-inch, 600 x 800 screen and 2GB internal storage. Just above that is the Tidal Touch with a 9-inch, 768 x 1024 screen, earphone / mic jack, 4GB internal upgradeable to microSD. And then we've got Ocean, which comes in 6-inch (600 x 800 pixels) and 9-inch (768 x 1024 pixels) variants and both feature capacitive touchscreens, 802.11b/g WiFi, tilt sensors, 4GB internal storage expandable via microSD, and some form of earphone / mic jack. Both Tidal Touch and Ocean 9 have optional 3G connectivity (that in the process halves internal storage to 2GB and nixing the microSD slot). Prices reportedly range between two and three Benjamins and will hit availability status online in April, followed by retail in June. Presser? You guessed right, it's after the break. %Gallery-81650%

  • Devil May Cry 4 sheds 2 million tears

Capcom's leather-clad bender Devil May Cry 4 has shipped out an impressive 2 million units since its debut two weeks ago, making it the first game in the opulent franchise to reach the milestone so quickly and the latest feather in the cap for Capcom's now 9 million unit selling series. This accolade is no doubt helped by the fact that the sequel, unlike those that came before it, was released for two platforms simultaneously, satiating players' thirst for over-the-top action regardless if they wave their banner over the Xbox 360 or PS3. In addition, Capcom continues to note that a PC version, for those inclined to play console-style games while tethered to their monitor and desk chair, will be released in the months ahead.

The only thing better than a trickle of solid game releases after the holiday season is getting one of those games on-the-free. TheManRoom is offering one lucky reader a chance to win a copy of Devil May Cry 4 for the Xbox 360 or the PS3. Residents of the United States and Canada are invited to enter the contest once per day until the draw closes on February 22 at 9:59pm PST. We recommend the Xbox 360 version, only because we tend to play games as soon as we insert them into our consoles and not when we're planning to take a long hot bubble bath while it installs. But hey, that's just us!

It looks like our good friends sworn enemies at PS3 Fanboy managed to snag a copy of Devil May Cry 4 a little early and even had the audacity to post a review of the game. As we are apparently not worthy to receive a copy of our own (please, Capcom!), we figured we'd point out the review for our readers. For the most part, everything in the review should apply to the Xbox 360 version as well. You know, things like good gameplay, great graphics, and wonky camera angles. Those things should pop up on your 360 as well. You should, however, disregard the mishegoss about installing the game onto a hard drive and also the single reference to the O button. Everything else should be copacetic. Oh, and in case you're wondering, the game looks to be pretty damned good.%Gallery-3579%

  • Capcom addresses DMC4 install complaints

    by
    James Ransom-Wiley

    02.05.2008

Borrowing a bit of that white-haired bravado, Capcom has unapologetically responded to the so-called crybabies for whom Devil May Cry 4's 21 min, 40 sec PlayStation 3 pre-game installation (timed by CVG) stretches out like an eternity of wasted opportunity and nonfulfillment. "Wah! Have you ever played a PC game? At least we aren't making you shuffle multiple discs into a ROM drive, or continuously click 'Yes!' on a series of endless Windows dialog boxes," Capcom's Chris Kramer fires back at any griefer who will listen.Once the DMC4 installation is complete (a one-time process – unless you delete the 5GB of data), Capcom claims players will experience "near-Super Nintendo speed load times," which CVG clarifies as "one or two seconds shy of those in the [Xbox] 360 [version of the game]." Whether you feel this perk justifies the initial wait-to-play (which is alleviated by a screenshot recap of the series) or not, Capcom doesn't much care. Pre-game installation is a reality for a growing number of PS3 games. It's not a bullet-point any publisher wants to list on a press release or print on a retail box, but it's a 'next-gen feature' we all need to get used to.

This week marks the North American release of Devil May Cry 4 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. To celebrate, the crew at PS3 Fanboy have written a retrospective on the series as a whole. It's a good refresher for those who haven't touched the series in a long time (or ever). It also makes for a great read while PS3 owners wade through the required installation. (About 30 minutes in length, according to PS Fanboy editor Andrew Yoon.)Concluding the retrospective is a review of Devil May Cry 4. The above image used to be part of a widget available for download at deceiverdeceived.com and betrayerbetrayed.com, two official Capcom websites for Devil May Cry 4. In the picture for the widget, the date January 31 was given for the release of a demo for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (via IGN). Downloading the widget, however, revealed no such line, and it has since been stricken from the widget image. No word from Capcom about the line. Devil May Cry 4 is due out January 31 in Japan, and the following week in North America and Europe.[Via X3F]
