Crytek's 'Arena of Fate' pits Robin Hood against Joan of Arc
Crytek announced a new MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game for PC and consoles today, Arena of Fate. The game gives players the chance to jump into 5-vs-5 battles using iconic characters from popular folklore and history like Robin Hood, Joan of Arc, Little Red Riding Hood, Frankenstein and Norse beast Fenrir. Arena of Fate is free to play and scheduled to enter its beta phase on PC this summer, with no word on which consoles the CryEngine-based game will eventually arrive on. Sleipnir for OS X arrives in beta, touts group tab management and sync
If you're the kind of person that loves to live on the wilder side of internet browsing, today you're in luck. Sleipnir is a new OS X web browser that has a few twists, particularly when it comes to tab management. Developed by Japanese outfit Fenrir, Sleipnir first arrived on the iPhone (which we covered here) and then the iPad, and now it's arrived in beta form for Mac OS X. Like any other browser, Sleipnir does the standard job of visiting websites fine, but where it shines most is through group tab management. In Sleipnir the address bar takes a step back and tabs take center stage. All tabs are thumbnail previewed. And similar to Safari's Show Top Sites tiled preview of you most visited webpages, Sleipnir does the same, but takes it a step further. By clicking and dragging tiles of your favorite websites, you can arrange them into groups specific to context and category for later reference and easy access. For instance, a collection of tiles relevant for News or Social Networking. It's like creating bookmarks, but with tabs and tiles instead of text and website addresses. It's all very visual. And don't worry, bookmarks aren't replaced, they're enhanced with colored labels, or what Sleipnir calls Smart Bookmark Management. If you use Sleipnir on your iPhone and iPad too, all your bookmarks and tile groups are synced up to Sleipnir for Mac using Fenrir's free Fenrir Pass. Sleipnir beta for Mac is compatible with OS X 10.6 and 10.7 (though Lion's full-screen mode is not supported yet) and is available as a free download now (and even though it's in beta form, it runs remarkably smoothly). So if you're a little bored of the usual suspects (Chrome, Safari, Firefox), you may want to try something a little different and give Sleipnir a spin. [Via MacStories]
Sleipnir Mobile browser 1.0 for iPhone released
Here's an intriguing browser for the iPhone coming out of Japan just in time for Christmas. It comes to us courtesy of Fenrir Inc, the same company who brought us the Sleipnir browser for the Mac Windows which is currently on version 2.96 with 3.0 in development. Billed as a "web browser with highly functional tab features," Sleipnir Mobile's tabbed browsing features a couple of fun characteristics. The "Flick Wipe" function allows users to very simply flick a tab (located along the bottom, not on top) off screen by pushing it down out of view. The browser's "Hold & Go" feature lets you touch and hold a link to open it up in the background. A representative with the company tells us that these are the browser's strong points that differentiate it from Safari and Opera. Of course, we don't expect Sleipnir to make any stunning grab of market share, but it's always pleasing to see more options for consumers. The expanded pet system of Lineage 2's Hellbound
The newest Lineage 2 expansion, Hellbound, is currently in test, and with its improvements and new content come changes to the pet system that fans will love. For example, people who have wolves as pets will be able to evolve it to a mountable form called a Fenrir. This change isn't merely cosmetic -- it will get special attacks and more powerful skills, and also confers its power to its owner while mounted. Clan members have further customization available to them, able to upgrade their wolves to Great Snow Wolves, Red Striders, and Snow Fenrirs.For the other pets, the level caps have been raised to 85, concomitant with players' level caps. Once the Baby Buffalo, Baby Kookaburra, and Baby Cougar pets have exceeded level 55, they, too, can evolve into more powerful forms. Each one is geared toward a particular class, and grants buffs accordingly.
