Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today. I'm glad I waited until the wee hours of the morning to write today's Queue. If I didn't, I wouldn't have been able to use that picture of Zarhym as today's header, courtesy of Ben Brode's Twitter. Benjamin Seeberger asked: with the introduction of Warlords of Draenor and the retirement of the legendary quest in its entirety, are new players going to have any clue who Wrathion is, unless they are rogues? Will his storyline make any sense in Mists when the legendary questline is taken out? Will the Timeless Isle make any sense? How will the departure of the questline impact Pandaria's storyline?

  • WoW Moviewatch: Garrosh takes the Ice Bucket Challenge

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has taken the internet by storm over the last few weeks, but now it's making headway into virtual life, too, as Garrosh takes on the challenge. In case you've missed out (or been without internet for the past month), the premise is simple: when challenged, you dump a bucket of ice water on your head or donate to the ALS Association to help fight ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease). Sure, you could just donate, but making and sharing Ice Bucket Challenge videos is most of the fun. However, Garrosh clearly isn't taking this challenge seriously: "We are the Iron Horde and slightly icy water will never stop our might!" What Garrosh doesn't realize is that ice water is cold. Really cold. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today. Today we attempt to tackle timelines and alternate dimensions. Attempt being the operative word. Breadsammich asked: Something's bothering me about the Warlords cinematic. We see a pitlord, presumably Mannoroth, angered over the orcs' refusal to drink the blood. However, if the legion exists outside time and dimensional boundaries, how could that be Mannoroth? A "new" one wouldn't have been created by the new timeline if he's separate from it to begin with, right? Is this just Blizzard waving it off a little for the sake of the cinematic?

What do you get when you mix World of Warcraft and Disney? Sheer madness, and the above video from SilverLetomi entitled Garrosh. Letomi is already well known for her singing, but here she manages to pull off something I never thought I'd hear and do a perfectly pleasing rendition of a goblin singing an ode of devotion to everyone's favorite Warchief. Well, the goblin's favorite Warchief. The Kor'kron's favorite Warchief? Look, someone had to have liked him at some point, right? Featuring a machinima created by Khayllys, Garrosh does a fine job pulling off a parody of one of my favorite Disney films with a Warcraft twist. The song and the Warchief fit together disturbingly well, which has me wondering what on earth took so long for someone to do it? Give it a watch, you won't be disappointed. And who knows, you might just have another dozen reasons to punch the Warchief in the face next reset. Interested in the wide world of machinima? • Know Your Lore: Lore summed up part 6 - Cataclysm Ends

    01.29.2014

The World of Warcraft is an expansive universe. You're playing the game, you're fighting the bosses, you know the how -- but do you know the why? Each week, Matthew Rossi and Anne Stickney make sure you Know Your Lore by covering the history of the story behind World of Warcraft. Let's be up front about this. The Cataclysm was Deathwing himself. The events were the result of Deathwing's assault on the world of Azeroth - his eruption from Deepholm, his rampage through the Twilight Highlands, his summoning of Ragnaros into Mount Hyjal, the machinations of his minions. Deathwing, in all his rampaging insanity, was exactly what he claimed he was. He was the end of the world, and had he not been stopped, Azeroth would be no more. From the Twilight Highlands to the depths of Vashj'ir, the events Deathwing set in motion unraveled the world. Let's look over the world, cast our eyes from the jagged peaks of Hyjal to the submerged depths of Vashj'ir, descend into Deepholm and then comb the deserts of Uldum for answers to the question - what did the mad dragon want? Why did his Twilight's Hammer erect their bastion in the Twilight Highlands, where the Maw of Iso'rath erupted from the very soil? The old gods seemed on the verge of their ancient goal, thanks to Deathwing.

We all know that Garrosh has a trial going, even if someone's going to let the ex-warchief somehow slip through their fingers. But every story has two sides, and you'll be shocked when you view the Lore According to Garrosh. I loved the trial format of this video, which is a perfect setup for some one-liners and amusing anecdotes. Slightly Impressive's animation and vocal guns have really focused over the years, and I'm constantly more than just slightly impressed by the produce. Bonus points for using old models in flashbacks; that feels incredibly appropriate to us old timers. Interested in the wide world of machinima? Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today. Thank you, everyone, for the cornucopia of videos and image memes in the comments of yesterday's Queue. Not. smartazjb0y asked: How do people feel about the Blizz survey going around asking if they'd want WoD to be $39 or $49, $39 without the boost to 90? Would be reaaaaalllly lame if they offered both options, they definitely made it seem like you'd get a free boost with the expansion. I'm fine with $39 for the expansion and 1 free boost, and then I guess offering the boost as an option in the store (for a reasonable price. Like, $30 or something?)

Every Monday, Scott Andrews contributes Officers' Quarters, a column about the ins and outs of guild leadership. He is the author of The Guild Leader's Handbook. Garrosh Hellscream, son of Grom, Chieftain of the Mag'har, Warchief of the True Horde, is no pushover when you meet him in battle. Nor should he be, as the final boss of Mists of Pandaria. He can break your raid team's spirit faster than he nuked Theramore. One such team is fracturing under the pressure of Garrosh and his freaky Old God souvenirs, and their raid leader is asking for help. Hello Scott! I am currently the raid leader/GM for a startup guild on a high-pop server. I was able to create a guild, form a raid team, and get them 13/14 very quickly on normal. However, I recently lost my partner tank (I tank as a warrior) due to RL issues, and had a DPS rage quit during our Garrosh attempts. I've converted a dps to tank (he has sufficient gear), and am having trouble finding the right comp/team to get Garrosh down. We rarely wipe on the first 13, but we are having trouble on garrosh.

The other night was a first for me--I dreamed about WoW. In all my years playing, I have never had a dream about the game. There have been plenty of daydreams during boring meetings or classes, mind you, but never an actual bona fide, I'm-asleep-and-my-brain-has-gone-to-play, dream. Until now. My husband and I are going to visit family over Christmas, and the flight for the first leg of our trip was delayed by a couple hours. We were already due to come in late, so we ended up arriving even later, and by the time we got to sleep in our hotel it was after midnight. I collapsed in exhaustion, and promptly fell into the World of Warcraft. According to my sleep-brain, the minipet for the Warlords of Draenor Collector's Edition is going to be a caterpillar-like creature composed of little Garrosh torsos, their heads bobbing along like a grotesque Stegosaurus spine, with amputated arms for legs. Not gonna lie, guys, I am already disappointed that this won't be the case. Have you ever dreamed about WoW? If so, what did you dream? And which dream was the weirdest?

The Road of War was Fablesim's entry into the BlizzCon machinima contest. It features orcs, war, and the inevitable road to it. See what I did there? I couldn't escape the notion that this video was a sort of apology or love letter to Garrosh, but that could just be because he was such a popular character at the convention. I think it's interesting how terribly relevant this video is to the overall themes of the new expansion. Warlords of Draenor, and all that. Check it out and let us know what you think! • Metzen reveals Garrosh "sets things in motion" in Warlords of Draenor

    by

    11.08.2013

Following the Opening Ceremonies, Chris Metzen sat down with the hosts (Kat Hunter and Geoff Keighley) and revealed a few new tidbits about the upcoming expansion. Garrosh Hellscream is not the end boss of the new expansion. However, Garrosh 'sets things in motion' with the aid of an unknown accomplice with mysterious time-travel abilities. Once put on trial, Garrosh escapes before he can be judged, and returns to Draenor in the past to prevent the one great mistake that led to the creation of the Old Horde - the drinking of the Blood of Mannoroth. At present, they don't know who will be the orcish faction leader. While Thrall is the obvious choice, Metzen would prefer Saurfang or Eitrigg "but we may change it later". Thrall will be using his hammer more in this expansion. So there you have it, more details on how the Warlords of Draenor arise.

  • Hotfixes and compensation for Garrosh tokens

    09.16.2013

It seems that raid end-boss Garrosh Hellscream has been up to his old tricks again, as players have been having a great deal of trouble with his loot table awarding insufficient tokens on 25-N difficulty. It seems that, instead of the usual three, Garrosh was only dropping one token, as Community Manager Lore reports: Lore Greetings, When Patch 5.4 released, Garrosh Hellscream was set to drop one tier token on 25-player Normal difficulty. This was inconsistent with other bosses in the zone, and we planned to correct that via hotfix. Our intent was to release this hotfix during weekly maintenance to keep rewards consistent throughout this reset; unfortunately, due to an error on our part, the hotfix was applied early to the North American and Asian servers. This has resulted in an unfair advantage for guilds that defeated Garrosh later in the week, not only against the NA/Asian guilds that defeated him before the hotfix was applied, but also against all European guilds that have defeated him (as the hotfix has not yet been applied there)... source

  • I won't cry for you, Garrosh Hellscream

    by

    09.05.2013

We stand on the edge of patch 5.4 -- Orgrimmar is about to be invaded, and Garrosh Hellscream is about to be dethroned and likely killed. The decision to make a playable faction's leader the end boss of an expansion is a pretty surprising one, and as is to be expected, has been met with mixed feelings from many among the player base, myself included. I admit, Garrosh holds a very special place in my heart. Back at the end of 2009, Blizzard called me up and asked if I would be willing to write his leader story, to hopefully give some more depth to a character who was at the time much maligned. The prospect was incredibly daunting, and I was terrified, but keen for a challenge, I agreed. As often happens when you spend enough time getting into the head of a character or two (or more), that fictional person begins to grow on you. When I started Heart of War I will admit I had little love for the younger Hellscream. I thought him brash, full of himself, and woefully ignorant of Azeroth. But I went into the story production armed with the following philosophy: everyone is the protagonist of their own story. As such, I was determined to give Garrosh, as my Australian husband sometimes quips, a fair shake of the sauce bottle.

Spoiler alert! You'll all be aware of Garrosh's visions, such as earlier images of certain major WoW cities and various others, and our friends over at Adriacraft have dug up yet another one. Now as a vision, we're not really sure if this counts as a spoiler or not, but because we're nice people, we're trying to err on the side of caution here. So if you don't want to see potential spoilers that might just be the hallucinations of a deranged lunatic, but might point to a story point, or might not, then don't hit the break, don't watch the video, don't read the comments, don't come crying to me if you do. Final warning, people, spoilers may possibly lurk after the break! Proceed if you dare.

Personally i quite like the BMAH, but after twice getting wrist gear for a different class in Unclaimed Black Market Containers, i dislike them and stopped buying them.

  • Sympathy for the Warchief

I have a weird personal quirk -- I can't really handle playing evil characters. Part of it is that I feel like I've seen enough cruelty and evil triumphant in the real flesh and blood world I move through every day. From petty, small viciousness to boorish rudeness all the way up the ladder, with stops at knee-jerk offense for offense's sake, lying, stealing, racism, sexism, and it just keeps going up and up and up. I don't play World of Warcraft or other games to revel in that kind of behavior, because I see entirely too much of it (and worse) in my day to day. I play the game to escape those things, for at least a little while. Now, I'm neither arrogant nor self-centered enough to demand that the game be tailored to me, or conform to this tendency. I get that there's a catharsis inherent in playing the black hat for some folks. I even get that there are shades of grey and interesting challenges to be had in coming up with reasons and motivations for people doing the worst things. Conflict helps create interesting stories, and you can't have conflict without opposition. I get all that. But I admit, I'm still rendered somewhat uncomfortable by people who get excited about evil, who use terms like deliciously wicked - in my experience, evil is far more often banal and tedious, wickedness usually the work of dull, plodding and inflexible minds. Therefore, I'm surprised to find myself sympathizing more and more with Garrosh Hellscream as this expansion has unfolded.

  • Patch 5.4 PTR: Hellscream's weapon drops are 90-100 heirlooms

    by
    Olivia Grace
    Olivia Grace
    08.07.2013

The latest PTR build has revealed some interesting new details about the Garrosh Hellscream weapon drops we covered last week. You'll note they have had something of a color change and are now L90-100 heirlooms. This is rather interesting, given that we didn't actually know (and still may not know) that the next expansion would take us to level 100 as opposed to level 95, for example. What's more, these items appear, from the dungeon journal at least, to drop from heroic mode raids, as well as normal mode and flexible raiding, but not from LFR. It's possible that these are the brand new rewards that Blizzard were hinting at dropping from Flex and above but not from LFR. They only appear to drop from from Garrosh himself, but an heirloom that takes you all the way to the next expansion's max level and perhaps beyond has to be an improvement on the Dragon Soul "hey, replace your epic drop off the last boss with a green" syndrome. Certainly, however, many people will be upset that this isn't dropping from LFR.

  • WoW Archivist: When Blizzard "hated" the Horde

    by
    Scott Andrews
    Scott Andrews
    08.02.2013

WoW Archivist explores the secrets of World of Warcraft's past. What did the game look like years ago? Who is etched into WoW's history? What secrets does the game still hold? Which faction does Blizzard love more? For several years it's been all the rage to claim that Blizzard loves the Horde and hates the Alliance. Players trot out the "green Jesus" theory. They show how the past two expansions have focused far more on Horde characters and storylines than on Alliance intrigues. It's true that Blizzard placed Thrall and now Garrosh and Vol'jin in the spotlight over the past few years. Players also look at the shiny new Orgrimmar that the Horde got when the old one burned down, and how Stormwind also took a beating and still hasn't recovered. You can make the case that Blizzard has somewhat favored the Horde in WoW's recent history. But this is so very, very strange to vanilla players like me. Back then, players were convinced of the exact opposite. Players were so convinced, in fact, that some actually wanted a CM to die. In vanilla, Blizzard "loved" the Alliance and "hated" the Horde. Don't believe me? This quote is from a 2005 editorial called "Why the Horde is worse, and how Blizzard could fix it": In the end, I am just a jealous Horde player... It is up to Blizzard to fix this game; I have done all that I can. Either World of Warcraft can be remembered as a great MMORPG, or it can go down as a horribly imbalanced one, like many before it. That's for Blizzard to decide. Let's take a trip back to 2005. On a bus, perhaps. A bus made out of elemental electrical energy.

Thanks to our friends over at Adriacraft, we have been alerted to some very interesting new information about the Siege of Orgrimmar. However, this would definitely fall under the category of a spoiler. A fairly epic spoiler at that, so we are doing our best to be bland and uninteresting this side of the break at least. But you know the drill, guys. The juicy tidbits are after the break. And man, if you don't want to see some serious spoilers, you had better not click it. You also shouldn't read the comments, or basically do anything else. Focus instead on how pretty Orgrimmar looks in this picture. Final warning: spoilers after the cut.
