It must've been a slow week at an Isle of Man bodyshop when mechanics David Anderson and Mathew Hine decided to "tweak" a mobility scooter for a bit more speed. The garden-variety Days Strider model was designed to go 8 mph, so naturally the pair added an 80-horsepower, four-cylinder, liquid-cooled Suzuki motorcycle engine. That made the chassis and tires woefully inadequate, so they also redesigned the frame and added go-cart wheels. "But that's not really a mobility scooter anymore," you may say.

It may not be the Wii version of the game, but anyone that can throw down in Guitar Hero as good as this kid can is certainly deserving of all the fame and fortune that comes from being featured on Wii Fanboy. The fame of being recognized by avatar-less commenters and the fortune of having 14 people see your video are just some of the small things Wii Fanboy can bring to the table. All kidding aside, this guy is good. In fact, we wonder what would happen if him and that little kid got together in the same room. It'd like totally cause a rift in the space/time continuum or something. [Via Joystiq]

Parramatta, Westfield Australia was the site of a record-breaking event on October 12th, where 381 people came together and played DS. Breaking the record for most people playing DS in one place, at one time (what was the previous record, 8?), the day showed 15 lucky people walking away with a free DS Lite, as well as other prizes awarded on the spot. While Nintendo didn't have that many pictures up on the site (count 'em, 2), we can see from what was there that most seemed to have had a blast at the event. We wonder, though, if the majority were children taking part in the event, where did the parents hang out?

  • Japanese apartment sports "world's largest" QR code

If you thought QR codes were much ago about nothing, apparently you were badly mistaken. On the broad side of an under-construction apartment in Hiroshima City resides what appears to be the "world's largest" QR code to date, and considering that most of these 2D codes make their appearances in magazines or on business cards, we'd bet that claim is legitimate. Purportedly, the hangers are hoping to sneak into the Guinness Book of World Records with the feat, as the 15.3- x 14.58-meter banner features a 10.97- x 10.97-meter QR code which can reportedly be snapped (from afar, obviously) with a cameraphone, and utilized just like any other (much smaller) rendition. Now, which one of you can find your way to this monstrosity and tell us where the code leads your handset?[Via Slashphone]
