Up for offer will be a variety of goods including<span> a flip cover, battery-charging stand, spare battery, car dock, "metallic docking stand" and HDMI adapter. Perhaps most interesting</span> pieces, however, are the <span>AllCast wireless dongle</span> (which appears to be direct competition to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/12/htc-media-link-hd-display-mirroring-box/">HTC's Media Link HD</a> video-mirroring device), a Wireless Charging Kit and an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/s-pebble-hands-on/">S-pebble MP3 player</a> that plays nice with the scan and match feature in the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-launches-new-services-for-the-galaxy-s-iii-music-hub-s/">Music Hub app</a>. We're gathering all the details we can, so in the meantime grab a look at the gallery below. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/">Samsung Galaxy S III accessories</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002413"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037637-1336073616_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002414"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037636-1336073616_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002415"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037635-1336073617_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002416"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037634-1336073617_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002417"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037633-1336073617_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/">Samsung AllShare Cast accessory for the Galaxy S III</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002447"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-1336074475_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002444"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002443"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002445"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002446"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/">Samsung Galaxy S III flipcase hands-on at Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2012</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03687mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002462"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03683mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002463"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03685mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002464"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03682mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002465"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03681mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-accessories-unveiled/">Samsung unveils Galaxy S III accessories: wireless charger, S-pebble MP3, AllCast wireless dongle in tow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 03 May 2012 14:51:00 EST. That's right: no "plus" here, which means this 720p panel is featuring the same old PenTile RBGB pixel arrangement -- just like the 4.65-inch version on the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S II HD LTE. Needless to say, this is again <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/13/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-samsungs/">pure ammunition</a> for the folks over at LG; but as we've mentioned before, HD Super AMOLED's superb contrast and higher-than-before pixel density outweigh its shortcomings in most cases.</p><p> For now though, let's examine these sub-pixels with a 230x zoom USB microscope and compare them with other phones that we have in hand. Starting off with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/one+x">HTC One X's</a> 720p SLCD 2 above, you can see how its denser sub-pixels produce a finer picture, but ultimately it's still behind HD Super AMOLED when it comes to contrast, especially with black. Read on for more comparisons.</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/under-the-microscope-samsung-galaxy-s-iiis-hd-super-amoled-display/">Under the microscope: Samsung Galaxy S III's HD Super AMOLED display</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/under-the-microscope-samsung-galaxy-s-iiis-hd-super-amoled-display/#4999846"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-230x-g_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/under-the-microscope-samsung-galaxy-s-iiis-hd-super-amoled-display/#4999845"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-230x-all-g_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/galaxy-s-iii-microscope-hd-super-amoled/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Under the microscope: Samsung Galaxy S III's HD Super AMOLED display</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/galaxy-s-iii-microscope-hd-super-amoled/">Under the microscope: Samsung Galaxy S III's HD Super AMOLED display</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 03 May 2012 14:02:00 EST. With a steady stream of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/10/details-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-leak-out-1-8ghz-dual-core-c/">fakes</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/20/galaxy-s-iii-leak/">outright leaks</a> and even event rescheduling, Samsung's claimed almost crazy levels of interest for its new smartphone. Weighing in at 133g (4.7 ounces) and whittled to 8.6mm at its thickest, the rounded-off design has more than a little bit in common with its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">Galaxy Nexus</a> cousin. Of course, it's Samsung's new 1.4GHz <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/25/samsung-announces-1-4ghz-exynos-4-quad-as-basis-for-galaxy-s3/">Exynos 4 Quad</a> processor doing the legwork, and there's 1GB of RAM to help it out. The display has been bumped up in size to a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED affair, sporting a 1280 x 720 pixel count. Happy snappers will have an 8-megapixel rear shooter to play with, and a 1.9-megapixel eye on the front will take care of those video calls. If you were wondering about radios, it's launching with HSPA+, but there's an LTE version in the cards. As for the interface, it's TouchWiz on top of Android 4.0 again, and there's new gesture functions to help you get around. So, there it is, the phone we've all been waiting for (until the next one) but that's not all, be sure to check our <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview-hands-on/">hands-on coverage</a> and additional features for the in-depth breakdown. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-press-photos/">Samsung Galaxy S III (press photos)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-press-photos/#5001561"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-product-image-7w-1336069678_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-press-photos/#5001562"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-product-image-8b-1336069678_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-press-photos/#5001564"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-product-image-8w-1336069678_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-press-photos/#5001565"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-product-image-9w-1336069679_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-press-photos/#5001566"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-product-image-5b_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-is-official/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy S III is official: 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, quad-core Exynos processor and gesture functions</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-is-official/">Samsung Galaxy S III is official: 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, quad-core Exynos processor and gesture functions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 03 May 2012 14:00:00 EST. A phone so good they launched it, well, a whole load of times. But after seeing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">phablet cousins</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/26/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-lte-arrives-in-japan-ntt-docomo-offers-up-i/">LTE variants</a>, the <em>true</em> handset sequel is finally here. The Galaxy S III is moments away from being outed in front of journalists and Sammy's business partners in London, but in advance of the big reveal we were given a few hours to acquaint ourselves with the new star away from the crush of the show floor.</p><p> And what did we make of it? In short, Samsung's tried to bring its Galaxy S series in line with (and in some ways, further ahead of) what its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">team-up with Google</a> accomplished. It's added some new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/25/samsung-announces-1-4ghz-exynos-4-quad-as-basis-for-galaxy-s3/">quad-core Exynos</a> processing juice, a 4.8-inch, HD Super AMOLED screen and a handful of Galaxy S III-only features in an earnest bid to maintain its place at the top of the Android pile. You'll find our detailed impressions and a hands-on video just after the break.</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/">Samsung Galaxy S III preview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999134"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre01eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999135"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre02eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999136"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre03eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999137"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre04eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999138"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre05eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/">Samsung Galaxy S III vs. Galaxy Nexus</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001172"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc0193_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-nexus-2012-05-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001173"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-nexus-2012-05-021_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001174"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-nexus-2012-05-022_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001175"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-nexus-2012-05-023_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview-hands-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy S III preview: hands-on with the next Android superphone (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview-hands-on/">Samsung Galaxy S III preview: hands-on with the next Android superphone (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 03 May 2012 14:00:00 EST. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Optimus True HD LTE. Alas, the "true HD" part here doesn't actually mean the phone's getting 1080p resolution on a 4.5-inch panel (which would be 490ppi; yet Toshiba's actually <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/20/toshiba-shows-off-6-inch-tablet-display-with-498ppi-resolution/">done it</a>!); but we were told that 'tis really just a dig at Samsung's HD Super AMOLED technology -- you know, the magic behind that 4.65-inch screen on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/galaxy+nexus">Galaxy Nexus</a> and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/galaxy+s+ii+hd+lte">Galaxy S II HD LTE</a>.<br /><br />Simply put, LG doesn't think that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/21/the-galaxy-nexus-super-amoled-display-is-a-minus-not-a-plus/">1,280 x 720 on PenTile</a> counts as HD due to the lower number of sub-pixels; and while it's at it, the company also criticized AMOLED's over-expressed colors and higher power consumption in "normal user environment" -- for the latter, LG showed that its AH-IPS has a more consistent power consumption across varying levels of overall whiteness. You can see the relevant slides after the break.<br /><br />Of course, we've already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">expressed</a> (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/16/verizon-galaxy-nexus-review/">twice</a>) how much we like the HD Super AMOLED display on the Galaxy Nexus. The clearness issue now is much less noticeable when compared to the original Super AMOLED; but as for color accuracy, many of us are indeed deceived by the vibrancy that we naturally enjoy -- except when you need to inspect photos, of course. Regardless, we're pretty sure that it's only a matter of time before Samsung strikes back with a, ahem, "true HD" Super AMOLED (Plus) panel -- hopefully in time for the upcoming Galaxy S III.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-pentile-on-samsungs-amoled/">LG renames Optimus LTE to Optimus True HD LTE, disses Samsung's HD Super AMOLED</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-pentile-on-samsungs-amoled/#4962291"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/amoled-ips-rig_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-pentile-on-samsungs-amoled/#4962425"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/amoled-ips-rig2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-pentile-on-samsungs-amoled/#4962271"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/lg-optimus-true-hd-lte-2012-04-1216_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-pentile-on-samsungs-amoled/#4962273"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/lg-optimus-true-hd-lte-2012-04-12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-pentile-on-samsungs-amoled/#4962256"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/lg-optimus-true-hd-lte-2012-04-121_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/13/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-samsungs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LG renames Optimus LTE to Optimus True HD LTE, disses Samsung's HD Super AMOLED</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/13/lg-renames-optimus-lte-to-optimus-true-hd-lte-disses-samsungs/">LG renames Optimus LTE to Optimus True HD LTE, disses Samsung's HD Super AMOLED</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 13 Apr 2012 21:16:00 EST. It was also said that if the software on that device contained a task manager that coders had similarly missed the mark. The Samsung Galaxy Note on AT&amp;T contains what many would consider a stylus and, if you hold down the Home button, you're presented with what can only be described as a task manager.<br /><br />So the Galaxy Note, Samsung's massive 5.3-inch "superphone," is critically flawed then, right? No. It is, in fact, one of the best phones to hit the market since another Samsung powerhouse -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">Galaxy Nexus</a>. It's a device with a lot to love and is the kind of phone that would make almost every Android aficionado swoon. However, with its massive 5.3-inch display and generally understated styling, it isn't for everybody. We reviewed it before in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">European guise</a>, but now read on to see if AT&amp;T's $300 LTE version of this big brute is just right for you.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/">Ceramic White AT&amp;T Galaxy Note LTE overview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821309"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite41_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821269"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821277"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821270"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821271"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/atandt-galaxy-note-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AT&amp;T Galaxy Note review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/atandt-galaxy-note-review/">AT&amp;T Galaxy Note review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 12:00:00 EST. Samsung's chosen to dissect the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">Galaxy Note</a> for all to see -- and on its official blog, no less. Strangely, the pictures show the global Galaxy Note with its physical home button but the specs match those of the Galaxy Note <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/LTE/">LTE</a> that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/atandt-galaxy-note-with-lte-hands-on-at-ces-2012-video/">we played with at CES</a> and which is supposed to launch on AT&amp;T <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/telus-announces-samsung-galaxy-note-launch-lte-in-q1/">and Telus</a> <em>real soon now</em>. There are no major surprises here -- Samsung outlines some of the over 1000 components within, including the glorious 5.3-inch 1280x800-pixel <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HDSuperAMOLED/">HD Super AMOLED</a> display, the unspecified 1.5GHz dual-core processor (likely a Qualcomm <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SnapdragonS3/">Snapdragon S3</a>), the eight megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash plus other bits and pieces like sensors and radios. What's particularly interesting is that Samsung confirms <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NFC/">NFC</a> support (with the antenna inside the battery cover) and the use of a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Wacom/">Wacom</a> digitizer for the S Pen. The mini tablet will be available on AT&amp;T in both carbon blue and ceramic white for an undisclosed price sometime in the near future. Specs are almost identical to its global sibling -- 5.3-inch 1280x800 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HDSuperAMOLED/">HD Super AMOLED</a> display, S Pen, Android 2.3.6 (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Gingerbread/">Gingerbread</a>), 1GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, up to 32GB of additional storage via microSD card, 2,500mAh battery, eight-megapixel 1080p AF camera with flash and two-megapixel front-facing camera. Like its stablemate, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/11/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-review/">Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket</a>, AT&amp;T's Galaxy Note receives a brain transplant with a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU (presumably a Qualcomm <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SnapdragonS3/">Snapdragon S3</a>) replacing the 1.4GHz dual-core <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Exynos/">Exynos </a>processor. Beyond support for AT&amp;T's speedy LTE network, the device includes UMTS/HSPA+ (21Mbps) and GSM/EDGE world radios. This US variant will also be available with a number of accessories, including a desktop dock, a spare battery charging system, flip cover cases (available in multiple colors) and the Galaxy Note S Pen holder kit.<br /><br />We took AT&amp;T's Galaxy Note for a spin, and it's a dead-ringer for the global model in terms of size, weight and general layout. The most obvious differences are the carrier logo just below the earpiece, and the four capacitive keys replacing the three-button layout (physical key flanked by capacitive buttons) common to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/">non-US Galaxy handsets</a>. Pop the battery cover and you'll notice subtler changes, with the plastic SIM and microSD card holders being replaced by thinner metallic ones in order to accommodate the additional thickness from <strike>(presumably) an LTE </strike>the NFC antenna mounted inside the battery door with matching contacts on the phone's chassis [see update below]. Another difference is with the S Pen, which now features a contrasting grey side-button instead of the same black color as the pen's body. While the key is still just as difficult to locate by touch, it's now trivial to find at a glance. Performance wise, during our brief time with it, this version of the Note felt just as snappy as its predecessor, despite the aforementioned chipset swap. <strike>Unlike the other Galaxy S II-class devices on AT&amp;T, there's no sign of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NFC/">NFC</a> here. </strike>We'll keep you posted as we learn more, but until then check out the galleries below and hit the break for our hands-on video and the mandatory PR.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> We've been able to confirm that AT&amp;T's Galaxy Note features NFC. The antenna is located inside the battery cover, just like on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/10/nexus-s-review/">Nexus S</a>.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-hands-on-0/">AT&amp;T Galaxy Note LTE hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-hands-on-0/#4726058"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotelte01-1326099741_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-hands-on-0/#4726059"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotelte02-1326099742_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-hands-on-0/#4726060"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotelte03-1326099743_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-hands-on-0/#4726061"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotelte04-1326099745_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-hands-on-0/#4726062"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotelte05-1326099748_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-press-shots/">AT&amp;T Galaxy Note LTE press shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-press-shots/#4726286"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotepr01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-press-shots/#4726287"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotepr02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-press-shots/#4726288"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotepr03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-press-shots/#4726289"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotepr04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/atandt-galaxy-note-lte-press-shots/#4726290"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/01/attgalaxynotepr05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><em>Richard Lai contributed to this post.</em><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/atandt-galaxy-note-with-lte-hands-on-at-ces-2012-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AT&amp;T Galaxy Note with LTE hands-on at CES 2012 (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/09/atandt-galaxy-note-with-lte-hands-on-at-ces-2012-video/">AT&amp;T Galaxy Note with LTE hands-on at CES 2012 (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 09 Jan 2012 13:46:00 EST. We dropped by a New York City retail store to try out Google's first Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone in the flesh, before bringing one home for a proper unboxing and LTE performance test. As expected, the production version that we finally got our hands on today is virtually identical to the sample that popped up at the Samsung Experience <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/03/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on-video/">earlier this month</a>, but with one major exception: there's a Micro SIM installed, letting us try out core functionality, such as placing phone calls and accessing data without a WiFi network in range.<br /><br />The Verizon Nexus arrived with Android 4.0.1 pre-installed, but prompted us to update to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/15/psa-verizons-galaxy-nexus-getting-android-4-0-2-update-today/">4.0.2</a> just a few minutes after we added a Google account. It is noticeably thicker and heavier than its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">HSPA+ counterpart</a>, but this thing is fast when it comes to transfer speeds -- not quite as speedy as we've seen with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/06/lg-nitro-hd-review/">some LTE devices</a> on AT&amp;T's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/07/atandt-4g-lte-to-officially-launch-in-new-york-city-this-december/">budding 4G network</a>, but it's definitely in line with competing handsets from Verizon, and the MiFi we used for a comparison speed test. Our salesperson wasn't willing to let us leave without first confirming that the phone was in fact working, so he had the honor of first peeling back the phone's plastic cover. Ready to check it out? Samsung had just four pre-production Nexus models on hand, which were running Android 4.0.1 -- not the final <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/02/verizons-galaxy-nexus-updated-to-android-4-1-0-finally-ready-t/">4.1 version</a> we're expecting to see shortly, with a baseband update in tow. None of the samples included SIM cards, so we were only able to test them using the built-in WiFi module. A security alarm sounded when we attempted to remove the back cover to install a SIM, though the battery was also superglued in place, further inhibiting our access.<br /><br />We did take the unit for a speed test spin using our Verizon LTE MiFi, and achieved download speeds ranging from 5000-7000kbps and upload speeds of 300-2000kbps when connected to LTE over WiFi. These results don't represent what you'll see with the built-in module, but considering there was no way to get these running on the Verizon network, connectivity was limited to the MiFi and in-house WiFi. Still, this is your best shot at getting your hands on a device ahead of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/verizon-galaxy-nexus-landing-in-best-buy-on-december-11th/">Verizon's official launch</a>, so if you happen to be anywhere near NYC, head on down to the Samsung Experience to get your Nexus fix. Or hop past the break for our hands-on video.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on/">Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Verizon LTE hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on/#4655216"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/galaxynexusvzwlte001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on/#4655217"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/galaxynexusvzwlte002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on/#4655218"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/galaxynexusvzwlte003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on/#4655219"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/galaxynexusvzwlte004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on/#4655220"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/galaxynexusvzwlte005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/03/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Verizon LTE hands-on (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/03/samsung-galaxy-nexus-for-verizon-lte-hands-on-video/">Samsung Galaxy Nexus for Verizon LTE hands-on (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 03 Dec 2011 19:45:00 EST. They come in different shapes and sizes, boast different features and sell at different price points. We take each of them for a spin and review most of them, but only a handful really stand out. This is especially true with Android handsets, where incremental updates appear to be the <em>modus operandi</em>. Every now and then a device comes along that we really look forward to getting our hands on. Google's line of Nexus smartphones falls into this category, setting the new standard for Android each year.<br /><br /><div class="follow_this_in_post" style="padding-top: 10px"> <img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/11/more_info_header_1.gif" /><br /> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/21/ice-cream-sandwich-supports-usb-mass-storage-after-all-galaxy-n/">Ice Cream Sandwich supports USB mass storage after all, Galaxy Nexus does not</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/21/european-galaxy-nexus-owners-complain-of-erratic-volume-issue-v/">European Galaxy Nexus owners complain of erratic volume issue (video)</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/17/google-galaxy-nexus-hspa-first-impressions-video/">Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ first impressions (video)</a></div></div>In early 2010, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/04/nexus-one-review/">Nexus One</a> became the yardstick for all future Android handsets and, later that year, the launch vehicle for FroYo. A year ago, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/10/nexus-s-review/">Nexus S</a> introduced us to Gingerbread on the popular Galaxy S platform. Now, a few weeks after being unveiled with much fanfare, we're finally able to sink our teeth into Ice Cream Sandwich with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/GalaxyNexus/">Galaxy Nexus</a>, arguably the latest addition to Samsung's critically acclaimed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/galaxy+s+ii/">Galaxy S II family</a>. So, does this highly anticipated device live up to our expectations? Is the Galaxy Nexus the smartphone to beat? Most importantly, is Ice Cream Sandwich ready to take Android to the next level? In a word, yes. Read on for our full review.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-nexus-review/">Galaxy Nexus review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-nexus-review/#4632960"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/galaxynexusreview38_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-nexus-review/#4632931"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/galaxynexusreview11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-nexus-review/#4632932"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/galaxynexusreview12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-nexus-review/#4632930"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/galaxynexusreview10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-nexus-review/#4632933"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/galaxynexusreview13_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 24 Nov 2011 12:40:00 EST. Wow... The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/GalaxyNexus/">Galaxy Nexus</a>. It's finally here, in our eager little hands, and it's delicious -- just like <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/IceCreamSandwich/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a>, in fact. Our review unit is the same unlocked <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/HSPA/">HSPA+</a> version <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/samsung-galaxy-nexus-hands-on/">we briefly played with</a> in Hong Kong and is running Android 4.0.1. We've only spent about a day with Google's newest superphone and we're already hard at work on a full review, but we wanted to share some raw, immediate, first impressions -- after the break.<br />

We've already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review">inspected</a> every inch of Samsung's big bad phone-tablet hybrid, but a <em>soup&ccedil;on</em> of extra news has trickled out from the Galaxy Note's bombastic launch event in London yesterday. Those looking for brighter color scheme to match the striking glow of its HD Super AMOLED display are in luck, as the Galaxy Note looks set to arrive in white; the ethereal ying to its companion's midnight blue yang. Sammy added that the Galaxy Note's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/01/samsung-galaxy-note-official-5-3-inch-super-amoled-display-s/">S-Pen</a> SDK will be available to third-party developers starting December, hopefully bringing more uses for that slide-out stick. And that's despite the latest Android OS offering <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/21/android-ice-cream-sandwich-includes-native-stylus-support/">native stylus support</a> -- the Galaxy Note remains a Gingerbread affair. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-claims-top-spot-in-global-smartphone-shipments-for-q3-20/">current</a> smartphone king was unable to confirm if the UK would be getting the white model on the November 3rd launch day, or ever. Similarly, we're still waiting on Samsung to put S-Pen to paper on pricing and any possible US launch details.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/white-galaxy-note-appears-developers-wanted-to-pen-third-party/">White Galaxy Note appears, developers wanted to pen third-party apps for its stylus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 28 Oct 2011 13:21:00 EST. If you've been chatting on the go for as long as we have, it was probably barely big enough to fit a complete telephone number -- let alone a contact name or text message. And your first smartphone? Even displaying scaled-down, WAP versions of web pages was asking a lot. Now, those mobile devices we couldn't live without have screens that are much, much larger. Sometimes, though, we secretly wish they were even bigger still.<br /><br /><div class="follow_this_in_post" style="padding-top: 10px"> <img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/11/more_info_header_1.gif" /><br /> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/01/samsung-releases-1-5ghz-exynos-processor-and-16mp-cmos-for-mobil/">Samsung releases 1.5GHz Exynos processor and 16MP CMOS for mobiles, if you're nice</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/27/samsungs-galaxy-s-ii-for-t-mobile-proves-that-unicorns-do-exist/">Samsung's Galaxy S II for T-Mobile proves that unicorns do exist (hands-on video)</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/01/samsung-galaxy-note-official-5-3-inch-super-amoled-display-s/">Samsung Galaxy Note announced: 5.3-inch display, built-in-stylus, custom 'S Pen' apps</a></div></div>Samsung's new GT-N7000 Galaxy Note is the handset those dreams are made of -- if you happen to share that dream about obnoxiously large smartphones, that is. It's as thin as a Galaxy S II, lightning fast and its 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display is as gorgeous as it is enormous; the 1280 x 800 pixels you once could only get with a full-size laptop (or in the Galaxy Tab 10.1) can now slide comfortably into your front pocket. Its jumbo display makes it the perfect candidate for a notepad replacement and, with the included S Pen stylus, you'll have no problem jotting notes on the fly, marking up screenshots or signing documents electronically. But, is that <em>massive</em> display too much of a good thing? You'll need to jump past the break to find out.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">Samsung Galaxy Note review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4565182"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/note2011-10-27800px-32_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4565275"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt72_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4564484"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/1-1319774316_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4564485"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/2-1319774316_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4564486"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/3-1319774317_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/">Samsung Galaxy Note vs. Galaxy S II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565313"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt73_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565314"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt74_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565315"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt75_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565317"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt77_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565318"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt80_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy Note review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">Samsung Galaxy Note review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 28 Oct 2011 07:15:00 EST. Well folks, the wait is over. Now you can push the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/06/samsung-galaxy-nexus-specs-leak-headed-to-verizon-as-an-exclusi/">rumors</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/17/motorola-droid-razr-gets-an-early-introduction-ahead-of-tomorrow/">early introductions</a> and other pre-announcement ramblings aside and focus on the real matter at hand: which of these shiny new handsets will you buy? Will it be the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/samsung-galaxy-nexus-hands-on/">Galaxy Nexus</a> or the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/motorola-droid-razr-hands-on/">Droid RAZR</a>? Either these posters are extremely elaborate fakes, or NTT DoCoMo is really bad at keeping secrets. Just hours after it <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/japans-ntt-docomo-announces-samsungs-nexus-prime-ahead-of-ice/">prematurely tweeted</a> a November release for the Galaxy Nexus (aka the Nexus Prime), we now have what appears to be a full spec list and comparison with the other handsets in the Japanese carrier's range. The details are nearly all familiar from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/06/samsung-galaxy-nexus-specs-leak-headed-to-verizon-as-an-exclusi/">previous suspected leaks</a>, including the dual-core 1.2GHz Texas Instruments processor, 720p Super AMOLED curved glass display, five megapixel camera with 1080p video recording and 32GB of storage (plus 1GB RAM). Now, it's entirely possible that the fakers are all singing from the same dodgy hymn sheet -- but if that's true, then they've also been busily submitting forged benchmarks to <em>GLBenchmark</em>, which displays results from a 'Galaxy Nexus' that include the same 1.2GHz clock speed and HD screen (albeit listed as 1196x720, supposedly due to the onscreen buttons). We'll know the truth soon enough -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/17/samsung-and-googles-ice-cream-sandwich-event-is-tomorrow-get/">full fandango</a> is but hours away.<br />

Today, the site published new images and video of what could be the Samsung Galaxy Nexus -- the long-awaited follow-up to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NexusS/">Nexus S</a>. At this point, it's difficult to say whether the device (model number "Tuna") totally jibes with the leaked specs we saw earlier this week, though its spacious display (rumored to be of 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED stock) does look rather sharp -- the screenshots we've seen are indeed at 720 x 1280 resolution. Other than that, the handset appears to boast a 1,750mAh battery, along with a five megapixel camera and that rumored <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/28/ice-cream-sandwich-gets-a-two-minute-tour-courtesy-of-a-lucky-e/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> UI, replete with onscreen buttons.<br /><br />Compared with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/NexusS/">Nexus S</a>, the front-facing camera on this handset is shifted further to the right, with the proximity sensor nestled between the earpiece and the shooter, rather than all the way on the left. Its corners, meanwhile, seem less rounded than what you'll find on the earlier version, though we noticed that it does have a micro-USB port lurking at the bottom center, much like its ancestor. Of course, we'll have to wait until October 11th to see whether these shots are as good as advertised, but you can head past the break to see the purportedly authentic video or to gaze at some extra screenshots.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/07/samsung-galaxy-nexus-spotted-in-the-wild-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy Nexus spotted in the wild? A report over on <em>BGR</em> details specs for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/05/samsung-teases-next-weeks-unpacked-offers-a-momentary-glance/">next pure Google phone</a> we've come to know and love as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Nexus+Prime">Nexus Prime</a>. Quoting a "trusted source," the insider dish paints a familiar contoured picture of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy family member. The screen has been purportedly bumped to a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display, and lurking just beneath its chassis should be a dual-core 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor. As for the rest, the supposed Verizon exclusive packs 1GB RAM, 32GB of storage, a 1,750mAh battery, 1.3 megapixel front-facing / 5 megapixel rear shooter capable of 1080p HD video, WiFi a/b/g/n, NFC and possible LTE / HSPA bands. So does this handset measure up to your (by now) impossibly high standards? We'll soon find out if any of this pre-release gossip holds its water when we're live at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/26/samsung-announces-latest-unpacked-event-set-to-kick-off-at-ctia/">Unpacked</a> next week.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: A new batch of rumored specs have surfaced over on <em>GSM Arena</em>, and these seem to be more in line with what we'd expect of a new Nexus. According to an anonymous Google employee, that 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display mentioned above is just about the only spec to make the final cut. The processor, however, is more likely to be a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos (that's right) with an accompanying dual-core PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics chip. That rear facing camera? Try 8 megapixels with a newly beefed up sensor. The handset should also ship with a girthy 2,050mAh battery fully capable of juicing this apparent LTE / CDMA / GSM Android monster.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/06/samsung-galaxy-nexus-specs-leak-headed-to-verizon-as-an-exclusi/">Samsung Galaxy Nexus specs leak, headed to Verizon as an exclusive? <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/25/samsungs-ifa-app-unveils-galaxy-tab-7-7-wave-3-and-galaxy-note/">Until a few days ago</a> we'd heard surprisingly little about the Galaxy Note, a handset rumored to be launching alongside the Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Wave 3 at IFA. It's ironic, really, because of all the phones to have kept a low profile, this is a memorable one. Behold, a 5.3-inch handset with a stowaway pen for note-taking, drawing and grabbing screen captures. In other words, a Dell Streak-esque hunk of a device that blurs the lines between phone and tablet. You're looking at a Gingerbread-running LTE and HSPA+ handset with a 1280 x 800 Super AMOLED display, dual 8MP and 2MP cameras, a removable 2,500mAh battery and the same Samsung-made dual-core 1.4GHz processor you'll find in the just-announced <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/01/samsung-galaxy-tab-7-7-official-super-amoled-plus-display-dual/">Galaxy Tab 7.7</a>. For a phone this gargantuan, it's actually quite thin at light, at 9.65mm (0.38 inches) thick and a reasonable 178 grams (6.3 ounces). We had a few minutes to handle the phone in advance of today's press conference, and found it surprisingly easy to grip, even in our small hands. As with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/13/samsung-infuse-4g-review/">Infuse 4G</a> --whose own 4.5-inch screen once seemed impossibly sprawling -- the thin shape makes it tenable, as does the lightweight, textured plastic lining the back.<br />
<br />
As you'd expect, Android 2.3 comes layered with TouchWiz on top and, in this case, seven home screens and a touch-optimized interface dubbed "S Pen" designed to take advantage of that pen. These include S Planner, a native calendar and to-do list app, from which you can drag and drop appointments, changing time slots without having to open an entry. S Memo for note-taking, meanwhile, accepts voice, photo, text and handwritten input. We also got a quick glimpse of Virtual Whiteboard, a more collaborative form of note-taking. On top of that, Samsung says it's releasing the S Pen SDK to third-party developers, and the company's banking on more apps for organizing photos and drawing, among other things. For now, this is merely a global launch: Samsung says it's still in discussions with carriers worldwide, so depending on your neck of the woods <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/30/galaxy-s-ii-finally-lands-on-american-shores-for-sprint-t-mobil/">it might be awhile</a> before you hear anything definitive about pricing or availability. Find the some fancy press shots (and a promo vid) after the break, and stay tuned for our hands-on.<br />

We're about a week away from this year's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/IFA/">IFA</a>, but that's no reason for the tech teases to dry up. According to a report on<em> This Is My Next</em>, a bevy of product logos from Sammy's Android trade show app were unearthed by a tipster searching for clues in the APK. Among the soon-to-be unveiled products are the new Galaxy Tab 7.7, Wave 3 and Galaxy Note. While we've haven't heard much about the Note, we aren't really surprised to see a 7.7-inch (we assume) iteration of the OEM's popular <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/">Honeycomb tablet</a> and an update to its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/10/samsung-to-release-two-bada-2-0-handsets-with-nfc-in-q4-softwar/">Bada OS-running</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/14/samsung-wave-3-3-inch-super-amoled-bluetooth-3-0-bada-but-no/">Wave smartphone</a> line. Not to worry folks, you won't have to live with the suspense for long -- we'll be reporting live from Berlin before you know it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/25/samsungs-ifa-app-unveils-galaxy-tab-7-7-wave-3-and-galaxy-note/">Samsung's IFA app unveils Galaxy Tab 7.7, Wave 3 and Galaxy Note</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 16:12:00 EST. So far rumors of the next <a href="http://mobile.engadget.com/tag/nexus/">Nexus</a> phone have been mostly whispered and unverifiable, but they appeared to get a strong confirmation when confirmation and specs were spotted on the Samsung Romania Twitter account (@SamsungMobileRO). Romanian business paper <i>ZF </i>grabbed the tweets saying the Nexus Prime would feature a Super AMOLED HD (1280 x 720) screen and Android 4.0 when it ships later this year, however when contacted, Samsung reps deleted them and claimed the information originated from an outside source. That outside source could be a rumor posted on the <i>Boy Genius Report</i> the day before mentioning the same specs, as well as the possibility of "halo" <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/10/google-announces-ice-cream-sadwich-for-q4-2011-for-smartphones/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> phones from HTC and Motorola at the same time. For now we'll lean towards believing the company line, but if any of the Samsung social media accounts ever cough an accidental DM or two (who hasn't done it?) we'll consider them more carefully.<br />
