All of SiriusXM's premium channels will be free to listen to for the next six weeks. The service's biggest name, Howard Stern, revealed on his show the service is making the Premier Streaming plan available at no cost until May 15th. It typically costs $13/month.

Sirius XM has long had a love affair with Android, going so far as to build an Android-powered satellite radio just a few months ago. That flame is burning for at least a little while longer with plans for a Google TV app launching this summer. Much in line with Sirius XM's more recent internet options, subscribers can soon tune into virtually anything from the satellite radio lineup, including the obligatory Howard Stern, as well as online-only bonuses like ESPN SportsCenter. The radio provider tells Reuters that it worked "closely" with Google to build the app, but what secret sauce that adds (if any) is left to the imagination: the live pausing and five-hour content storage don't exactly break the mold of what we've seen so far. We'll find out very soon just how category-busting Sirius XM can get when we get a full reveal of the Google TV app in sync with the start of Google I/O.

Yes, the rumor of an Apple deal was false, but a new agreement between Howard and Sirius/XM will bring the Stern Show show to the company's iOS app for the first time. Sirius subscribers can use the free SiriusXM Premium Online app with their subscriptions. It allows you to stream nearly all of the network's channels. Last year there was a mild uproar from subscribers who discovered that several of the network's key features, like the Stern Show, the NFL and MLB were excluded from the iPhone app. Details on the new arrangement with Stern are scare, but his contract is set to renew in January, so we expect to have his show on our iPhones by then. In short, Howard is coming to your iPhone, but not as we initially heard.

  • Howard Stern, Apple in rumored $600M iTunes deal

Oh, my. A short tweet from the Twitter account SIRI_STOCK suggests that Howard Stern and Apple are "on the verge" of a huge deal: "Howard Stern on the verge of signing $600 million 3 year agreement with Apple to host an Internet/TV/iTunes broadcast. $SIRI." It's true that Howard's contract with SIRIUS will expire in January of 2011, and that he's yet to formally announce his future plans for the show. Yet, three things stand out to us when considering this idea. First, it appears that SIRI_STOCK is an account that "[follows] SiriusXM satellite radio stock," and is not officially associated with the company, so who knows where this information is coming from. Second is the notion that Apple would invite a guy who's accumulated millions of dollars in FCC decency fines to the party. Finally, 600 million bucks for three years is, in a word, absurd. Is The King of All Media poised to legitimize online broadcasting the way he did for satellite radio? Only Bababooey knows. Update: No -- turns out it's a prank. Very, um, funny?

  • Howard Stern digs his iPad

Oh, my. Yeah, we know...another "celebrity x enjoys his/her iPad post" is hardly riveting reading, but this story is worth a mention. Any long-time Stern fan knows that 1.) He dislikes Apple and 2.) He's adverse to new tech gadgets. Unless he's pimping Sirius/XM hardware, you won't hear much fanboy gadget-gushing from Howard (he famously clings to Lotus Notes for much of his tech-based communication). This week on the show, he talked about the 64GB 3G iPad he received as a gift from Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Calling it "pretty cool," Howard mentioned reading the New York Times with it and taking screenshots of his wife, Beth O, appearing on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live via the ABC Player app. This story is less about the celebrity and more about the iPad winning over yet another unlikely customer. Good job, Apple!
