  • Moonlight Online reveals concept art for its starting cities

Earlier this year, IGG announced they had begun work on an MMO based in the Moonlight universe. Moonlight Online takes place in a dark world where werewolves and vampires war for supremacy. Since the announcement, IGG has been regularly pumping out concept art to give people a feel for the style the game is aiming for. We've been shown some werewolf and vampire characters, a dark armoured horse and a few buildings inspired by medieval and gothic architecture. New art has now been released showing the game's three starting cities: Castle Williams, Fort Traster and Wolfsburg Bastion. Castle Williams is a dark, gothic castle where all vampires first begin their journey. Home to the humans, Fort Traster is a municipality with a strong focus on teaching magic. As expected, werewolves start their adventures in Wolfsburg Bastion, a wild and untamed stronghold. IGG continue to release concept art on the upcoming title regularly, and updates can be found on the official Moonlight Online forum. %Gallery-107318%

The Great Migration has begun! Tales of Pirates II entered beta way back in May, and after just over three months of what IGG referred to as "stressful" testing, the team is ready to get the process underway. Tales of Pirates -- yes, the whole thing -- is going to be moved over to Tales of Pirates II. This complete data move will begin in early September, and players won't have to worry about anything being lost. All items, friends lists, points, Crystals and Credits will make it to the new client intact. Once the process is complete, the Tales of Pirates servers will be shut down, and players will need to download the ToP II client to continue playing. Tales of Pirates II will bring plenty of new updates and content to the game, so check out the site to see what's in store!

  • Wonderland Online tames the wild St. Joan of Arc

She's a spitfire military commander and was played by Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go's in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, but that doesn't mean Joan of Arc works alone. On the contrary: The good folks at Wonderland Online are pleased to announce that St. Joan is a "new human pet" for players to add to their team. We've heard that historical figures make the best pets, really. Joan will be kicking butt with her Running Strike and Water Explode skills, as her enemies discovered in the 15th century. As an immortal saint and human pet, St. Joan is but a part of the content that IGG has added to this title. With version 6.0 of Wonderland Online, two new player characters are now available to test drive. If the cushy princess life is for you, then Karin is right up your alley. She can even summon a butler to fight on her behalf (don't want to break those nails, after all). Or if you like getting your hands dirty, then pick up Juzo, a hammerer who "doesn't like talking with others" but helps out anyway. It's what he does. He's spiffy. You can download the updated 6.0 version of the game over at Wonderland Online's site. Just be sure to tell Joan that we sent you.

    06.30.2010

Moonlight Online is expected to launch at the end of the year, and we're slowly getting more information on the game. The latest information from IGG gives a few hints about what we can expect from combat. While it's light on specifics, we do know that Moonlight Online "utilizes DOTA-like tactical elements in combat, so gamers can have their characters cast spells and use abilities in while in motion (limited by a cooldown time)." Transformation will be a big part of Moonlight Online, with characters gaining some impressive stat boosts in their alternate forms. Werewolves will receive buffs to attack power and HP, and vampires in bat form will be faster, more agile, and have a spell power boost. You can find more details about IGG's take on the vampire vs. werewolf conflict on the Moonlight Online forums.

There's been quite a bit of curiosity regarding IGG's upcoming vampire MMO, Moonlight Online. The original announcement came at the end of March, and that was all we heard until now. IGG has released a developer diary detailing all sorts of game creation details which serves as an overview of what the game will be like. The diary includes information on basic game mechanics such as camera rotation and UI control as well as gameplay-oriented details like the differences between humans, werewolves, and vampires. The historical look depicted in the accompanying artwork seems to indicate that we're safe from anything with a sparkly Twilight feel to it, so follow along after the jump for the Moonlight Online developer diary.

Would you love to plan a trip to Paris or London this summer but your budget is too tight and you're on the no-fly list? Wonderland Online has the next best thing: a new expansion featuring scenic European locales and historic characters. The upcoming Clash of Champions expansion-slash-content update is unveiling new maps for Paris and London, where players can team up with Joan of Arc, King Arthur and Lancelot for mind-bending new adventures. If that doesn't have you humming "Knights of the Round Table" from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I don't know what will. Clash of Champions' namesake comes from the expansion's PvP focus across all the servers. They're even launching a new PvP-specific server for those who want to focus on player killing above all else. The update will also introduce two new characters to play for those bored of the current options. The isometric free-to-play title recently celebrated its second anniversary, and is home to a surprisingly large population. If you want to get in on the action in preparation for Wonderland Online's next expansion, head over to the official site and try out the game for free!

Those players who have been hanging around at level 40 will find the door opened for plenty of new gameplay -- Call of Destiny will bring the eight final class advancements as well as a level cap increase to 50. Players of all levels looking for new adventures will enjoy the many content additions. New monsters and bosses, new maps, and new storyline progression will offer plenty to see in the days after the patch. If you love your gear, you'll want to check out the new customization options and new weapons, equipment, and more. The eight Titans of Tales of Fantasy are here, and one of them is you. Well, it will be once you hit level 40. IGG has revealed the final class advancements of the game for those players level 40 and over. Most of these are familiar titles -- Sentinel, Gladiator, Assassin, Marksman, Druid, Summoner, Archmage and Priest -- and the path to the chosen final class begins when you are a trainee. Choose the Apprentice (ranged/casters) path or Pugilist (melee) path to begin your journey toward the final class advancement. While the roles are well-known, the abilities of each class make for some interesting possibilities. For example, the Druid is defined as a master of shapeshifting able to take on the natural abilities of wild animals, the Marksman has a range that is 50% greater than spellcasters -- something that makes for quite an advantage in combat. Check out the Tales of Fantasy site for all the details on the final eight classes.

Tales of Fantasy has been in closed beta for two weeks now, and players have gotten a little taste of PvP in the form of The Arena. Players who enjoyed the PvP aspect of the game will love what's in store as Tales of Fantasy introduces their full PvP system. The Arena is here to stay, but PKing is no longer limited to that instance. "PK anytime, anywhere" is the motto used in ToF now, so watch your back as you travel through Elterra. One-on-one battle is great, but if your tastes run to something on a larger scale, try Inter-Faction Wars. This massive free-for-all PvP area is open for two hours daily, with every enemy kill earning you Honor Points that you can trade to NPCs for better gear. The new PvP system is live now, so check out the Tales of Fantasy site for all the details, and good luck!

The crew at IGG has been hard at work since the Tales of Pirates II alpha test last month sorting out bugs and doing some fine tuning. It must have gone well, because they've announced that the game is ready for the next round of testing. Tales of Pirates II will sail into closed beta this Thursday, May 6th with enough new content to keep testers hopping. When closed beta opens at 10 AM EDT, players that enjoy PvP will want to head straight for the Arena to try their hand at the new PvP offerings. There will be conventional large-scale battles, but IGG didn't stop there. You can also team up with others to fight for resources and territory or hang out in the Arena gallery to judge the battles. Don't worry, PvE content wasn't neglected. More high-level content has been added including mazes, digging for treasure, and a fairy companion reminiscent of Aika's pran that offers buffs to your character. All the current information can be found at the ToP II site.

The Tales of Fantasy closed beta test is moving right along, and players are becoming familiar with the basics of the game. As they do, they're beginning to turn their attention toward more detailed aspects. One such aspect is the presence of wings in the game. While winged characters aren't a cutting edge new feature these days, they're still pretty popular, and they've proven to be a hit in Tales of Fantasy. The developers of the game offered up some hints on acquiring and using the wings in their latest developer diary. While the wings themselves have a few different functions depending on type, getting them in the first place is the focus of this diary entry. Just handing them out to starter characters right off the bat would make them less special in the opinion of the developers, so they opted to make them a little harder to get. Check out all the details on this fun feature over at the Tales of Fantasy blog.

Tales of Fantasy has entered closed beta, and IGG is ready to celebrate the milestone. They're sharing the party with the community in the form of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", a massive guild event. The event is designed to encourage fans to play together as part of an active guild. The description might be a bit confusing, so here's how it works: between now and May 14th, guilds will be ranked according to member levels. Your guild must have at least 40 members, and overall member levels need to total at least 1,000 to qualify. The event includes a screenshot contest for special in-game titles as well. IGG has set up a ranking board, and every Friday it will be refreshed to reflect the current top guilds according to each guild's total member level. Check out the ranking board page for all the details, and then rally your guild and get to playing! Good luck to all!

  • First Impressions: Tales of Fantasy

    by

Tales of Fantasy is a game created by IGG that is set in a world of great mounts, strange creatures and small children that carry swords. Well, maybe not small children, but child-like characters that you can take control of. Most players seemed like they enjoyed the larger, more "adult" characters to play, but when I saw the option to play a 6 year old boy that carried a sword I had to have it. Graphically the game is reminiscent of Everquest 2, with all its glowy-edged oddness and its harsh environments. It's one of those games that can be amazing looking in one area only to be followed up by an area that looks semi-unfinished. That could very well be the case, being that the game is actually in closed beta and this is a "First Impression." Still, overall it takes free-to-play game graphics up one more notch.

If you're in the closed beta of Tales of Fantasy, you've got even more to look forward to when testing begins Wednesday. IGG has added four new instances, and there truly is something for everyone in these. The four instances are extremely diverse, catering to four of the main goals of many MMO players. If you're a crafter at heart, you'll enjoy the Shen'Nong Forest, also known as the "Gathering Instance." PvP fans will want to head straight for the Arena, or the PK Instance, while those who prefer PvE can probably be found teaming up with other players in the Dimensional Gate and fighting off hordes of monsters. Players that reach the high levels can head for the Lone Knight instance, a five-level area for players level 40 and above. All four new instances in Tales of Fantasy are for levels 30+, so it's not something charge into straight from character creation. However, no matter what your play style, there's something you're sure to love waiting once you advance a bit!

Less than two months ago, IGG announced their newest free-to-play title, Tales of Fantasy. The game promised some fun new features such as the fusion system, mounted combat, and a slight twist on the familiar class systems. If all of this has piqued your interest over the past weeks, you'll be glad to know that the game is just about ready for its first round of closed beta testing. IGG announced today that Tales of Fantasy will enter closed beta on April 13th. Existing alpha test participants will need to download the closed beta patch. If you weren't an alpha participant, just download the current client and you're all set. There are no worries about losing your beta progress either, as IGG has confirmed that they will not be deleting characters at the end of closed beta. • GodsWar Online developer journal discusses the inclusion of mounts

Mounts are a big part of nearly any MMO and GodsWar Online is no exception. They recently added a mount system, but it certainly wasn't as simple as typing "/horse" and moving on. Even the decision to add mounts in the first place was a long and complicated process. Their latest developer journal takes a closer look at the thoughts behind how the system came to be. When the idea of adding a mount system was first presented, the dev team itself was divided. There was a fair amount of discussion about the historical accuracy of infantry in Greece, and seemingly endless discussion ended in an official forum vote. The fans turned out to be "overwhelmingly" in favor of mounts, and production got underway. Again, it wasn't a simple and quick process: "There's a lot more to it than throwing a character on top of a pig." Many, many small effects work together to create a good mount, and each of those effects must be perfected individually. This journal entry is a great look at what goes on behind the scenes during the creation process, so it's well worth a visit to the site to check it out.
