Entry #27 by Brian W. Update: The entry period has closed. It's a shame the CDC shut down our plans for a giant bobbing for games contest. It was going to be epic. In its place, however, we launched a totally rad pumpkin carving contest. Not only do we get to enjoy the skilled craftwork of the Joystiq Biomass, we also get to keep the prizes nice and dry, and reduce the spread of waterborne illness bred in the saliva of icky gamers. That goes down as a win-win-win situation in our book.Reminder: You have until 12:00PM ET Friday, October 30, (two days!) to submit images of your game-related pumpkin carvings to: contest@joystiq.com. Click here for the basic guidelines for entry. (Official rules.)Have a look at the competition and keep the entries coming:%Gallery-76540%

Would'ja look at the time? You've only got about half a day left to send us a pic of the video game-themed pumpkin you no doubt slaved over the entire weekend. Take Takayoshi Sugawara here who not only carved a Mario pumpkin – heck, we've seen those! – but sculpted the plumber's familiar countenance from what we can only imagine is soft pumpkin-shaped rock. You've got until noon tomorrow, after which point we'll select our twenty-five favorite pumpkins before turning the entire process over to you guys tomorrow afternoon to pick the ten winners of Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. Check out the rules and get those pics in.

We can identify with this particular pumpkin on so many levels. Just seeing our beloved companion cube fills us with joy, though it is quickly scooped out and replaced by guilt and the terrible imagery of our fiery betrayal. What have we done?Actually, we challenged you to carve a magnificent jack-o'-lantern in the hopes of winning one of ten copies of Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles! You still have until Monday, so check out the rules and commence carving.

But there's every chance that your upcoming and unrelentingly magnificent entry could convince us to send you one of ten copies of Konami's Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. All you need is a pumpkin, a relatively sharp knife and a burst of creativity that doesn't result in amusingly proportioned genitals. (That was a joke, but that's not often the case when knives and genitals mix!)Check out the rules and get carving!

Next week is Halloween, which means many of you are putting the finishing touches on your video game-themed costumes, while decorating your haunted mansions with video game-themed jack-o'-lanterns. Since you're already at it, why not enter our pumpkin-carving contest for a chance to win the perfect Halloween game, Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles? We're giving away ten copies of the beautiful 2.5D PSP game, a remake of the heretofore Japan-only Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, to the winners. Did we mention it also includes the PC Engine Duo original and a new port of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night? Well, it does. So get carving! The rules are simple: Carve a video-game themed pumpkin. Send a picture of your pumpkin, in .jpg format, to contests AAT joystiq DAWT com. (Be sure to take an additional picture with the word "joystiq" written on a piece of paper somewhere. If you're selected as a winner, we'll ask to see this other photo to ensure that you haven't submitted someone else's carving as your own.) Deadline for entries is noon Eastern Time Monday, October 29. Twenty-five (25) finalists will be selected by Joystiq staffers based equally on creativity and originality. Out of those finalists, ten (10) winners will be selected based on reader votes. You may enter as many carved pumpkins as you like, so long as they're all somehow related to video games. For the full details, peruse the official rules here.
