If you're trying to stay on top of the ever-increasing number of speakers used in the latest surround audio schemes -- Dolby ProLogic IIz moves the count to 9-channels plus a sub (or two) -- in-wall speakers start to look really attractive. Jamo has rolled out its 400- and 600-series Custom speakers for those running out of room, and with 18 SKUs spread out over in-wall and in-ceiling options, there's bound to be a few that fit your needs. With that kind of menu, we'll let you hit the link to find the right speakers for you, but all speakers get Jamo's Decoupled Tweeter Technology, Hard Conical Cones and WaveGuide technologies; and magnetic paintable grilles will help keep things looking tidy. Spring for the 600-series, and you'll also get treated to silk dome tweeters. Pricing spans a relatively affordable range of $299 to $899.

Everyone has jumped onboard with hanging their TV on the wall, so the same should hold for speakers, right? At least that's what Jamo is hoping for with the release of its A 804 on-wall speaker, a svelte (by conventional speaker standards) 3.9-inch thick model suitable for LCR (and even surround) duties with a 3-way configuration anchored by dual 4.5-inch woofers. Generating any reasonable bass from those woofers in such a small enclosure is tough, but Jamo has tuned the woofer ports to get the bass response down to 70Hz. Looks count, too, and the 27.6 x 6.3 x 3.9-inch size combined with a high gloss black finish should blend nicely with that TV. Available next month at $449 each, but you can peep the PR after the break.

Jamo is embracing streamlined AV gear with its latest two product introductions -- the IW 827 LCR in-wall speaker is totally new, and the DMR 70 DVD receiver is new to US shores. The IW 827 LCR is a 2.5-way speaker with a 1-inch tweeter, 7-inch mid/woofer and a 7-inch woofer that directs sound ever so slightly downwards, so be sure to place them high on the wall. Once you've hidden the speakers, you can grab a DMR 70 DVD receiver to complete the minimalist look. The DMR 70 adds 5x65-Watts of Class D amplification to the 2-inch high upscaling DVD player. With the IW 827s going for $800 each and the DMR 70 coming in at $449, there might not be too much market overlap here, but putting fashion first can make for some unexpected component matches. In true high-end fashion, Jamo's bipolar R 907 speakers give you less for more. Just like we're seeing in the FPD market, the sexy in these babies becomes apparent when viewed from the side. Less cabinet gives you that so very svelte look. And why put in more drivers for dipolar radiation when the open baffle design gets the job done? Trust us, even though the 12-inch woofers and tweeter are different than those used on the bigger brother (and flagship) R 909, your high end cred will remain intact: you're getting the same midrange unit. "More affordable" doesn't mean "cheap," friends: $8999 per pair, in your choice of red or black.
