Boost Mobile has launched Motorola's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/k1m">KRZR K1m</a> this week, and while its freshness leaves something to be desired, the glossy black flip is instantly propelled to the very top rung of Boost's non-iDEN food chain above the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/27/motorolas-four-cdma-multimedia-cellphones-rokr-z6m-razr-maxx/">w385</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/03/sprint-debuts-low-end-motorola-c290-flip-phone/">c290</a>, both of which also hail from Moto. The scrappy, youth-oriented Sprint division is using the K1m's launch to highlight Unlimited by Boost, its regional calling plan that is currently available in 13 states -- <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/26/boost-says-aloha-to-hawaii-with-35-unlimited-plan/">including the lovely islands of Hawaii</a>. The Boost-ified MOTOKRZR is available now for $249.99, so get in on the circa-2006 action while the getting's good; heck, if you're really clever about it, you might even be able to use it as an excuse to move to Oahu.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashphone.com/70/9463.html">Slashphone</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/boost-mobile/" rel="tag">Boost Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/05/boost-boosts-the-motorola-krzr/">Boost boosts the Motorola KRZR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 05 Mar 2008 13:20:00 EST. Just on the off chance your KRZR is starting to look a bit too yesterday, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/08/sigh-the-24-carat-gold-iphone/">Goldstriker</a> can help rejuvenate it with a dash of crystal and a splash of platinum. Pricing is apparently set at $1,200 for this 336-gem-coated handset -- at roughly $3 a crystal, it'd be a deal at twice the price. Release date is tba but we're sure if you're willing to throw that kind of bread at a glitzy handset, Goldstriker might just put its foot down to get it to you <em>tout de suite</em>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://phonearena.com/htmls/First-Platinum-and-Swarovski-Motorola-on-the-planet-article-a_2349.html">PhoneArena</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/22/goldstriker-lavishes-krzr-with-swarovski-crystals-platinum/">Goldstriker lavishes KRZR with Swarovski crystals, platinum</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 22 Jan 2008 02:06:00 EST. Featuring all the bells and whistles of the same handset <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/05/motorola-krzr-k1m-goes-live-on-sprint/">released</a> this time <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/28/motorola-krzr-k1m-launches-today-on-verizon/">last year</a> by the other carriers, we're honestly a bit surprised by the pretty heavy price point. No word on that lovely <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/10/virgin-mobile-canada-gets-unlimited-data-for-10-two-new-phones/">$10 unlimited</a> data plan being available on this handset -- perhaps its "tetherability" is a stumbling point? -- but trust us, we'll be keeping our eyes wide to see what develops.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.howardchui.com/2007/10/17/motorola-krzr-on-virgin/">HowardChui.com</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/virgin-mobile/" rel="tag">Virgin Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/18/virgin-mobile-canada-lands-motorola-krzr/">Virgin Mobile Canada lands Motorola KRZR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 18 Oct 2007 18:24:00 EST. That's what AT&amp;T seems to be hoping anyway, having just reduced the price of its shining beacon of 3G S60 glory down to a single hundie. Also benefitting from the price cuts is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/11/cingular-rolls-out-motorola-krzr/">Motorola KRZR K1</a>, falling to the same $100. Hmm, 2.5G dumbphone or 3G smartphone? The current "it" flip handset that comes in a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/14/varations-on-a-theme-the-motorola-krzr-fire/">rainbow</a> of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/23/pics-of-motorolas-krzr-for-verizon/">colors</a> from Moto will set Canadian customers back about $150 (after instant rebate) and appears to be available now from Roger's consumer website. If you're a Canadian GSM customer who has not yet picked up an unlocked and unbranded KRZR from somewhere else, you now have the chance to pick one up pretty cheap with a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/">Rogers</a> contract.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/" rel="tag">Rogers Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/05/16/motos-red-krzr-released-by-rogers-wireless/">Moto's Red KRZR released by Rogers Wireless</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 16 May 2007 15:27:00 EST. To convince us that the KRZR still has some life in it, they've bumped out a limited edition champagne-gold KRZR K1 -- in Hong Kong, anyway. Like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/14/varations-on-a-theme-the-motorola-krzr-fire/">KRZR Fire</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/22/canada-to-get-coolest-looking-motorola-krzr-yet/">PRODUCT (RED)</a> versions, nothing seems to have been changed here -- it's only been prettified to appeal to a different market (in this case, the we-love-gold set). Before you jump out of your seat to hit the shops, be warned that this handset is apparently exclusive to Hong Kong and ties into a deal with Sa Sa Cosmetics to the tune of a 5 percent discount and free gold nail polish. The basket is definitely empty as far as details of release date, pricing, and carriers, but we will undoubtedly get some more info in the near term.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashphone.com/83/7040.html">Slashphone</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/28/motorola-rolls-out-gold-motokrzr-k1/">Motorola rolls out gold MOTOKRZR K1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 28 Apr 2007 19:21:00 EST. Cooler than the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/17/verizon-prepares-to-launch-fire-red-krzr/">KRZR Fire</a>? Yeah, we'd say so, if for no other reason than the fact that buyers do some good with their purchase of this one. According to Motorola's own site, the (PRODUCT) RED-branded KRZR K1 will be launching in Canada, though no details are given as to what carrier might be getting it. Seeing how this is a K1, the GSM variant, we're going to go ahead and take an educated guess that it'll find its way to either <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/">Rogers</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=fido">Fido</a>. Look for it to hit shelves "soon" -- in the meantime, we'll be pestering AT&amp;T and T-Mobile to pick 'er up, too.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/22/canada-to-get-coolest-looking-motorola-krzr-yet/">Canada to get coolest looking Motorola KRZR yet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 22 Apr 2007 20:17:00 EST. Not unlike the RAZR before it, Motorola's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/14/varations-on-a-theme-the-motorola-krzr-fire/">relentless</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/19/motorolas-krzr-k1-to-get-snazzy-new-colors/">exploitation</a> of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=krzr">KRZR</a> theme continues. Latest to see production is pink (not to be confused with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/17/verizon-prepares-to-launch-fire-red-krzr/">"Fire,"</a> naturally) -- if the UK's Carphone Warehouse is to be believed, anyway. The phone should allegedly be arriving on shelves next month on the other side of the Atlantic, and if you're really fired up about the phone and the color, you should have no problem getting one shipped stateside -- assuming no carrier launches it here -- thanks to the K1's quadband GSM radio. No word on pricing, but considering that the guts are the same as every other K1 on the market and the color pink involves no precious metal (as best we can tell), we'd expect little to no premium over the other shades.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://justamp.blogspot.com/2007/04/motorola-motokrzr-k1-in-pink.html">Just Another Mobile Phone Blog</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/20/motorola-prepping-krzr-in-pink/">Motorola prepping KRZR in pink</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 20 Apr 2007 13:50:00 EST. T-Mobile has <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/26/motorola-krzr-k1-landing-on-t-mobile-in-march/">finally</a> gotten the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=krzr">KRZR K1</a> out the door, giving all four of the US' largest carriers a piece of the RAZR successor pie. Like its Cingular cousin, T-Mobile's rendition lacks the touch sensitive controls and 3G data (not to say it'd do you any good <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/06/t-mobile-details-3g-plans/">quite yet</a>) that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=k1m">CDMA variant</a> has, but good news: America's number two GSM carrier <em>does</em> get the KRZR in a barely-discernable exclusive color. After rebates are accounted for, pick 'er up now for $150 on contract.<br /><br />[Thanks, Brendan]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/t-mobile/" rel="tag">T-Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/04/02/motorola-krzr-k1-launches-on-t-mobile/">Motorola KRZR K1 launches on T-Mobile</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 02 Apr 2007 18:15:00 EST. We feel like we can barely tell the difference between the white <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=krzr">KRZR</a> from Moto and the original gray -- especially if you squint your eyes a bit -- but choice is always good nonetheless, and to that end Telus has added the paler variant to its lineup. Going toe to toe with the K1m in the high-fashion game, Samsung's u510 has also found its way onto the CDMA carrier (<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/01/the-helio-heat/">look familiar?</a>) with a 220 x 176 display, 1.3 megapixel cam, microSD slot -- something its Helio doppelganger lacks -- and touch-sensitive controls. Grab your white KRZR for the same price as its grayer counterpart, $149 CDN -- or a u510 for $50 CDN less, $100, both on a three-year agreement.<br /><br />[Thanks, Jay]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.telusmobility.com/on/pcs/handset_samsung_u510.shtml">Read</a> - Samsung u510<br /><a href="http://www.telusmobility.com/on/pcs/handset_motorola_krzr_k1m.shtml">Read</a> - Motorola K1m MOTOKRZR<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/telus-mobility/" rel="tag">Telus Mobility</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/1xrtt/" rel="tag">1xRTT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/18/telus-adds-samsung-u510-white-motorola-krzr/">Telus adds Samsung u510, white Motorola KRZR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 18 Mar 2007 15:55:00 EST. While it's a little late to the game, T-Mobile does get some minor bragging rights of its own, offering the phone in an exclusive "silver quartz" color scheme, as well adding stereo Bluetooth compatibility to the mix. Otherwise, the phone's specs are the same as we first spotted all those months back, with a 2 megapixel camera, 176 x 220 display, quad band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), EDGE, and a promised 200 to 400 minutes of talk time. No surprises here: we got wind of an <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/01/23/leakymoto-motokrzr-k3-with-3g-pops-up/">upcoming 3G MOTOKRZR K3</a> with 2 megapixel camera in January, and by golly that's what Motorola is delivering. Of course, the looks are pretty much in line with the original <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/01/11/cingular-rolls-out-motorola-krzr/">KRZR</a>, other than some missing external media controls and, of course, the fact that this one actually does stuff. For radios, Motorola finally has the HSDPA and UMTS that should've been in here from the start, along with stereo Bluetooth, and things get extra fun with the rear-facing 2 megapixel camera and the front-facing VGA camera designed for video calls. The phone also includes 50MB of available built-in memory, a microSD slot, 2-inch QVGA display and some decent media playback and recording capabilities. Moto should be pushing this one out in Q1 2007.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/12/motokrzr-k3-with-3g-gets-official/">MOTOKRZR K3 with 3G gets official</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 12 Feb 2007 13:01:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/03/verizon-gets-pn-820-smartphone-out-the-door/">PN-820</a> is the most interesting of Big Red's latest batch, but we've got a couple new arrivals to talk about on the low end as well. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/17/verizon-prepares-to-launch-fire-red-krzr/">MOTOKRZR K1m Fire</a> is purty much like any other <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=k1m">K1m</a>, with the exception of a gloss red shell -- just in time for Valentine's Day -- which can be added to the pocket or gift box of your choice for $100 on a two-year agreement after discount. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/17/verizon-wireless-to-launch-samsung-u340/">Samsung SCH-U340</a> shores up Verizon's already well-stocked low end with a VGA cam, speakerphone, and not bloody much else for the attractive price of "free" after all the discounts have been applied and you've signed on the dotted line.<br /><br />[Thanks, Jhonny and Brian D.]<br /><br /><a href="http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&amp;action=viewPhoneDetail&amp;selectedPhoneId=2809">Read</a> - MOTOKRZR K1m Fire<br /><a href="http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&amp;action=viewPhoneDetail&amp;selectedPhoneId=2789&amp;changingCompletedOrder=">Read</a> - Samsung SCH-U340<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/verizon-wireless/" rel="tag">Verizon Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/1xrtt/" rel="tag">1xRTT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/03/verizon-adds-two-dumbphones-too/">Verizon adds two dumbphones, too</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 03 Feb 2007 12:54:00 EST. Moto sorta got the GSM variant of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/24/motorolas-motokrzr-k1-and-k1m/">KRZR</a> -- the K1 -- off on a bad foot by failing to imbue it with the same manner of broadband data enjoyed by its K1m CDMA sibling. Of course, given everything we know about Motorola, the milking of the KRZR platform has only just begun, and the KRZR-like handset getting shown around over at MotoX Forum certainly seems to exhibit all the telltale signs of a re-upped K1. Details are virtually non-existent, but the presence of a front-facing cam on the lower right of the screen speaks volumes about the internals (read: UMTS). So Motorola, Cingular, if you folks are out there: we <em>implore</em> you to have a look-see at bringing this one stateside, y'hear?<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.pocket.co.il">Ishay</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/22/3g-motorola-krzr-in-the-flesh/">3G Motorola KRZR in the flesh?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 22 Jan 2007 23:43:00 EST. Just like we said the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/14/varations-on-a-theme-the-motorola-krzr-fire/">first time</a> around, Motorola is capitalizing on their <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/04/motorola-gets-artsy-with-the-krzr-t-mobile-wants-in/">multi-colored variations</a> of almost every phone they make and bringing the <em>fiyah</em> red KRZR k1m to The Network. There are no changes to the device other than its glossy red exterior. HTC Kid tells us the pricing is $349.99 commitment free, $199.99 on a one year, $149.99 on a two year <strike>servitude</strike> contract. Look for the phone to launch right in time for Valentine's Day. Could Verizon have a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/19/motorolas-krzr-k1-to-get-snazzy-new-colors/">green one</a> coming for St. Patty's Day? Several readers have astutely noted that the phone being shown on Cingular's site is a CDMA K1m, not a GSM K1 -- and if you look really closely, you'll even notice that the word "Sprint" is visible in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. You're not going all CDMA on us, are you, Cingular? <p>Seems as if <a href="http://www.boygeniusreport.com">The Boy Genius</a> received a nice little care package courtesy of <a href="http://www.cti-miami.com">CTI-Miami</a>. Its a black Motorola KRZR which is only now available. While the obvious features and specs have not changed, this is the sharpest looking K1 to be released yet. That is until the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/14/varations-on-a-theme-the-motorola-krzr-fire/">fiyah red one</a> comes out, right? We knew it was just a matter of time before the trickle of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/14/varations-on-a-theme-the-motorola-krzr-fire/">KRZR variants</a> coming out of Moto turned into a flood; well, it looks like we'd best be getting to higher ground. We turned up these four models of the GSM-based K1, possibly called "Abstract" and "Rose" (seems logical, right?) in your choice of black or blue. We're not sure where these things are destined or when they'll be heading there, but we also found us some screen caps of a K1 running T-Mobile (check a few after the break) -- and considering that T-Mobile is loving it some <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/02/t-mobile-rumors-razrs-aplenty/">fancy Motos</a> lately... well, we'll just let y'all draw your own conclusions.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/04/motorola-gets-artsy-with-the-krzr-t-mobile-wants-in/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Motorola gets artsy with the KRZR; T-Mobile wants in?</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/04/motorola-gets-artsy-with-the-krzr-t-mobile-wants-in/">Motorola gets artsy with the KRZR; T-Mobile wants in?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 04 Jan 2007 23:00:00 EST. Many people love the way the KRZR feels and how sexy it looks and it doesn't matter if you have the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/28/motorola-krzr-k1m-launches-today-on-verizon/">Verizon</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/05/motorola-krzr-k1m-goes-live-on-sprint/">Sprint</a>, or even if you coughed up the big bucks for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/17/the-boy-genius-report-unboxing-the-motorola-krzr-k1/">unbranded version</a>. Now Cingular users can rejoice as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/15/more-details-surface-for-verizons-aircard-595/">Roc A Fella</a> shows us the "orange splat" version. There hasn't been any change to the guts or to the exterior of the device, it's pretty much status quo. Maybe, just once, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/06/cingulars-latest-rebate-form-hints-at-holiday-releases/">mail in rebates</a> will be partially correct and we will get the device pre-2007.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/19/cingular-branded-motorola-k1-in-the-wild/">Cingular branded Motorola K1 in the wild</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 19 Dec 2006 13:31:00 EST. Motorola has rebuilt its once-diminished empire on the back of the RAZR and its endless variants, milking the platform for absolutely everything it's worth (and beyond, depending on who you ask). Why not continue the trend, then, with the RAZR's <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/07/24/motorolas-motokrzr-k1-and-k1m/">heir apparent</a>? The KRZR "Fire" is pretty much like any other KRZR, but with a decidedly crimson appearance to its glossy outer shell. Motorola has rebuilt its once-diminished empire on the back of the RAZR and its endless variants, milking the platform for absolutely everything it's worth (and beyond, depending on who you ask). Why not continue the trend, then, with the RAZR's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/24/motorolas-motokrzr-k1-and-k1m/">heir apparent</a>? The KRZR "Fire" is pretty much like any other KRZR, but with a decidedly crimson appearance to its glossy outer shell. 'Tis the season for giving, which leaves the rabid phone fans among us in a tight spot: how do we get in on a little new mobile tech for ourselves and help those less fortunate at the same time? Our friends over at Phone Scoop are hoping to fill the bill by auctioning off a handful of hot, current handsets graciously provided by carriers and manufacturers with all proceeds going to benefit The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria -- the same fund <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/13/motorolas-red-motorazr-v3m-coming-to-fight-aids/">(RED)</a> benefits. Loot includes a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/11/t-mobile-dash-debuts/">T-Mobile Dash</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/13/t-mobiles-sidekick-3-limited-editions-from-lrg-and-diane-von-fu/">LRG Sidekick 3</a>, Motorola <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/24/motorolas-motokrzr-k1-and-k1m/">MOTOKRZR K1</a>, unlocked Samsung <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/13/hands-on-with-the-samsung-i320/">i320</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/20/samsung-sph-m500-now-available-from-sprint/">M500</a> for Sprint, and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/16/cingular-8525-blackjack-now-for-sale/">BlackJack</a>, and a Helio <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/09/helio-drift-official-225-in-black-or-white/">Drift</a> (see, we told you the goods were hot). Bidding will take place via Phone Scoops' forums, with all auctions ending this Friday. Bid generously, and bid to win!<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/helio/" rel="tag">Helio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/t-mobile/" rel="tag">T-Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/danger/" rel="tag">Danger</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/1xrtt/" rel="tag">1xRTT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/announcements/" rel="tag">Announcements</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/05/got-cash-in-the-new-phone-budget-do-some-good/">Got cash in the new phone budget? For the record, that's the K1 we're talking about here -- not the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/28/motorola-krzr-k1m-launches-today-on-verizon/">K1m</a> -- on account of Rogers being a GSM provider. On the plus side, that gives you world compatibility with four bands of GSM reception at your disposal, but on the minus side, you can kiss 3G data goodbye (the K1 tops out with EDGE). No word on whether this offering is official yet since we can't find any other links to it, but if you can't buy it now, you'll certainly be able to before too long.<br /><br />[Thanks, Shaun C.]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/" rel="tag">Rogers Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gprs/" rel="tag">GPRS</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/21/rogers-gearing-up-to-offer-motorola-k1-krzr/">Rogers gearing up to offer Motorola K1 KRZR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 21 Nov 2006 18:21:00 EST. Ah, there's nothing like adding <strike>functionality</strike> additional color schemes to a cellphone in order to generate more sales, and nobody's better at getting it done than <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/">Moto</a>. While the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/17/the-boy-genius-report-unboxing-the-motorola-krzr-k1/">KRZR</a> had plenty of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/14/motorola-canary-razr-2-hands-on/">hype</a> backing it, it hasn't been around quite long enough to get Motorola's oh-so-typical <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/23/motorola-to-release-pearl-razr-for-moms-day/">color-changing treatment</a> (a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/29/a-quick-glance-at-verizons-pipeline/">dash of white</a> notwithstanding), but that's apparently about to change. While details aren't certain just yet, it looks like the company may have two new variants coming down the pike for "Q4 2006" (just in time for the holidays?), but all specs should remain exactly as they current are. Purportedly aiming to hit the market in both black and "silver quartz," the newfangled KRZRs are actually fairly mild considering some of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/01/moto-follows-up-dandg-v3i-with-dandg-v3i/">variations</a> we've seen, but we all know that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/11/lime-green-razr-in-the-mix/">lime green</a>, fairly tale <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/01/motorola-launches-salmon-pink-slvr-l6/">pink</a>, and candy apple <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/15/motorolas-slvr-goes-red-for-africa/">red</a> are (probably) waiting just around the corner.<br /><br />[Thanks, RandomStranger]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/19/motorolas-krzr-k1-to-get-snazzy-new-colors/">Motorola's KRZR K1 to get snazzy new colors?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 19 Nov 2006 12:15:00 EST. Sprint still hasn't quite learned the fine art of not getting shown up by CDMA rival Verizon for prompt releases of the hottest phones, partially on account of Verizon's tendency to lock up lucrative exclusivity agreements that last anywhere from a few months to life of the model (as is the case with the CDMA <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/08/22/the-last-lg-vx8500-mini-review-youll-ever-read/">Chocolate</a>). Fortunately, as <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/08/30/quality-time-with-motorolas-motokrzr-k1m-for-sprint/">foretold</a> by our friends at Phone Scoop, Sprint's <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/search/?q=k1m">K1m</a> comes relatively hot on the heels of Verizon's. Thanks to a different UI and color scheme, the Sprint variant barely resembles its stablemates and it'll be interesting to see whether customers ultimately do a better job warming up to it. Sprint still hasn't quite learned the fine art of not getting shown up by CDMA rival Verizon for prompt releases of the hottest phones, partially on account of Verizon's tendency to lock up lucrative exclusivity agreements that last anywhere from a few months to life of the model (as is the case with the CDMA <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/22/the-last-lg-vx8500-mini-review-youll-ever-read/">Chocolate</a>). Fortunately, as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/30/quality-time-with-motorolas-motokrzr-k1m-for-sprint/">foretold</a> by our friends at Phone Scoop, Sprint's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=k1m">K1m</a> comes relatively hot on the heels of Verizon's. Just in time for Halloween, VZW has new flavors of the MOTOKRZR K1m and Chocolate phones up for grabs. Well kinda, since their new White Chocolate only appears on what looks to be a Verizon staging site at the mo' with actual launch <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/10/27/white-chocolate-comes-to-verizon-just-in-time-for-halloween/">still expected tomorrow</a> for $130 and a 2 year commitment. Just don't forget to treat yourself to a speakerphone with the ol' <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/09/27/update-enables-speakerphone-on-verizons-lg-chocolate/">firmware trick</a> hear, 'cause it looks from the site to ship without. Also up is the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/09/28/motorola-krzr-k1m-launches-today-on-verizon/">return on the K1m KRZR</a> only now in a ghostly <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/10/29/a-quick-glance-at-verizons-pipeline/">white with gray exterior</a> -- yours to ship home for $200 after on-line discount and two-year contractual obligation akin to a feast of apples and rzrbldz.<br /><br />[Thanks, John and Bob the Builder]<br /><br /><a href="http://testman.verizonwireless.com:80/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&amp;action=viewPhoneDetail&amp;selectedPhoneId=2646">Read</a> -- LG Chocolate (white) <br /><a href="http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&amp;action=viewPhoneDetail&amp;selectedPhoneId=2586">Read</a> -- Motorola MOTOKRZR K1m<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/30/verizon-launches-motorolas-krzr-k1m-and-lgs-chocolate-again/">Verizon launches Motorola's KRZR K1m and LG's Chocolate, again</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 30 Oct 2006 08:52:00 EST. It looks like Verizon customers are about to have themselves a very Moto-riffic holiday season indeed, with not one, not two, but <em>three</em> new models coming down the pike (technically, it's two new models and a new color of an existing model -- but work with us here, folks). First up is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/18/pebl-look-a-like-heading-to-verizon-wireless/">W315</a>, a low-end flip with a PEBL theme to it, though the external antenna certainly isn't helping its cause. According to Verizon's sappy internal marketing materials, the W315 will make customers say things like "Rain or shine, I rely on my W315's sharp color display as I browse through my messages while waiting at the bus stop," but frankly, with a marginal 160 x 128 display to its name, we're not sure we agree. Next up is the V325i, a phone that appears to be a near twin of the W315 but with the external display flipped 90 degrees -- perhaps a nod to corporate suits who find the W315 a little too hip for their liking; it's essentially a V325 with Bluetooth tacked on. Finally from Motorola, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=krzr">K1m KRZR</a> is going to make an encore appearance, this time with a white interior and gray exterior. In other news, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/17/verizons-lg-vx9900-all-dressed-up-but-no-place-to-go/">LG VX9900</a> has apparently been christened the "enV" (huh?) and should be launching by the end of November for around $200. Follow the break for a little more eye candy of Moto's goodies!<br /><br />[Thanks, anonymous tipster]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/29/a-quick-glance-at-verizons-pipeline/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A quick glance at Verizon's pipeline</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/verizon-wireless/" rel="tag">Verizon Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/1xrtt/" rel="tag">1xRTT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/29/a-quick-glance-at-verizons-pipeline/">A quick glance at Verizon's pipeline</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 29 Oct 2006 12:58:00 EST. This would line up nicely with what we'd been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/27/the-boy-genius-report-canary-is-krzr-getting-launched-septembe/">hearing before</a> regarding a September / October launch window when you factor in the typical date slippage, application of Murphy's Law, forces of nature, and whatnot. Of course, this all sorta fubars the continuity of Cingular's RAZR pipeline, considering that they just managed to finally get the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/06/cingular-finally-launches-razr-v3i/">V3i out the door</a> a few weeks ago -- but <em>far</em> be it from us to suggest that it should prompt them to hold a new release.<br /><br />[Thanks, anonymous tipster]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/23/cingulars-motokrzr-launching-first-week-of-november/">Cingular's MOTOKRZR launching first week of November?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 23 Oct 2006 12:51:00 EST. So, this actually went down a couple days ago, and we've been sitting here trying to process all the information ever since. The idea of <em>any</em> carrier -- let alone a non-Japanese one -- announcing thirty-one handsets in one fell swoop simply boggles our mortal minds. We take it so seriously, in fact, that we liken it to the discovery of penicillin or man landing on the moon; if a US carrier were to launch 31 handsets at once, we wouldn't be surprised to see it on the front page of every newspaper in North America. Alas, this isn't Cingular or Verizon with the announcement -- it's Vodafone, so let's get down to business. First up, Nokia is bringing six phones to the party: the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/13/nokia-6131-6070-round-out-new-offerings/">6070</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/19/nokia-adds-low-end-3g-6151/">6151</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/07/vodafone-launches-nokia-6234/">6234</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/20/nokia-relaunches-the-6280-3g-slider-as-the-6288/">6288</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/04/nokias-lamour-collection-adds-three-sort-of/">7390</a>, and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/05/nokia-n73-review-roundup/">N73</a>; all but the 6070 are 3G, and you get your choice of cams ranging from VGA all the way up to the N73's monster 3.2-megapixel shooter. LG will be contributing its KU800 (a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=chocolate">Chocolate</a> variant) and L600V, both with 3G data. Motorola rolls deep with four models, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/24/moto-surprises-with-3g-motorazr-maxx/">MAXX</a>, V1100 (an HSDPA-capable Vodafone exclusive), <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/24/motorolas-motokrzr-k1-and-k1m/">MOTOKRZR K1</a>, and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/01/motorazr-xx-breathes-more-life-into-v3-formula/">V3xx</a>. Sagem's got the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/19/sagem-intros-my600v-candybar/">my600V</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/10/sagem-drops-four-new-phones-including-pair-of-3g-units/">my800V</a> -- both lower-end 3G devices -- and the super simple <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/15/sagem-adds-simple-myc5-3/">myC5-3</a>. We're starting to get a little fatigued here, but let's keep going; Sharp has their 770SH and EDGE-only GX29 in store with 1.3-megapixel and VGA cams, respectively. Sony Ericsson brings their <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/28/sony-keeps-em-coming-with-the-z530-k510-and-k310/">K310i</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/13/sony-ericsson-k610-lightweight-3g-phone/">K610i</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/02/28/sony-ercissons-wilma-k800-k790-cyber-shot-phones-get-offici/">K800i</a> Cyber-shot, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/23/sony-ericsson-v630i-3g-musicphone-shows-up-in-uk/">V630i</a> (another Voda exclusive, hence the "V," we're guessing), and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/18/sony-ericssons-w850-walkman-tri-band-gsm-umts-slider/">W850i</a> Walkman phones, though no mention of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/06/sony-ericsson-p990i-review-roundup/">P990</a>. Samsung wins the title of "World's Most Phones Launched By A Single Manufacturer In This Particular Vodafone Announcement," dropping the X510V, X680V, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/09/samsung-debuts-four-new-trim-n-fit-sliders/">Z400V</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/04/07/live-from-ctia-worlds-best-samsung-booth/">Z540V</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/06/samsung-gets-busy-t719-p857-d407-t609-z560-x810-cellphones/">Z560V</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/30/samsung-z720-shows-up-online/">Z720V</a>, ZV40, and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/13/samsung-zv50-now-on-vodafone-germanys-umts-turbo/">ZV50</a>. Last -- and possibly least -- the Vodafone 710 inaugurates Voda's self-branding initiative, bringing 3G and a 1.3-megapixel camera in (what <em>should</em> be) an inexpensive package. All told, six of the new phones will rock HSDPA, and a total of 24 support some manner of high-speed data. Now if you'll excuse us, we need some milk of magnesia and a nap, but we hope we've brightened the day of a Brit or two among our readership. So what does Bono do after taking the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/13/ipod-nano-product-red-now-shipping/">iconic MP3 player RED</a>? Why, take the cellphone-equiv RED too, naturally. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/09/sprint-to-announce-red-bonorazr-on-friday/">Right on cue</a>, Sprint and Motorola just announced their joint effort to the fight of AIDS in Africa, the (PRODUCT) RED MOTORAZR V3m. The V3m will launch with Sprint sometime in November for $305, or $65 with a two-year agreement and will come preloaded with five RED screensavers and even a red headset so everyone knows just how generous you are. Or aren't, since the press release only states that "Both Motorola and Sprint will contribute directly to the fund with each RED MOTORAZR sold at Sprint." Come on guys, this isn't just a thinly veiled attempt at marketing your NFL Mobile and Sprint Music Services is it -- we're talking a cut of the phone sales and at least <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/13/ipod-nano-product-red-now-shipping/">5%</a> of call charges like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/05/15/motorolas-slvr-goes-red-for-africa/">UK's RED SLVR</a> right? Expect more announcements from Moto as it looks like you'll be able to go RED with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=slvr">MOTOSLVR</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=krzr">MOTOKRZR</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/03/sprint-to-launch-three-new-motoallcaps-devices/">on Sprint</a> when these launch for undisclosed prices in November as well. <br /><br />[Thanks, r0fl]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/13/motorolas-red-motorazr-v3m-coming-to-fight-aids/">Motorola's RED MOTORAZR V3m coming to fight AIDS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 13 Oct 2006 07:54:00 EST. If you've got your heart set on a MOTOKRZR <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=k1m">K1m</a> but you're not <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/28/motorola-krzr-k1m-launches-today-on-verizon/">a Verizon customer</a>, hold your horses -- Verizon has strangely failed to secure an exclusivity agreement on this one, and odds are the CDMA carrier of your choice will be picking 'er up before too long. Next up is Alltel, which is already taking preorders and looks to be shipping the curiously narrow RAZR successor on October 5. True, Alltel kiddies have had to wait a few more days than their Verizon brethren, but in exchange for the delay, they won't have to deal with Verizon's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/29/motorola-k1m-motokrzr-reviewed-on-verizon/">much-maligned custom UI</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/alltel/" rel="tag">Alltel</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/1xrtt/" rel="tag">1xRTT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/02/alltel-next-to-get-motorola-k1m/">Alltel next to get Motorola K1m</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 02 Oct 2006 15:44:00 EST. We figure peeps who've placed their orders <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/09/28/motorola-krzr-k1m-launches-today-on-verizon/">through Verizon's site</a> for Motorola's new gotta-have-it clamshell need a little reading material to pass the time while they wait for the good folks in the shipping industry to make their phones materialize -- so without further ado, we present PC Magazine's take on the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/07/24/motorolas-motokrzr-k1-and-k1m/">Motorola K1m MOTOKRZR</a> (pictured right). While the K1m is undoubtedly a fabulous-looking flip, PC Mag seems to share the same brooding, mildly pessimistic view we do: it's essentially a <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/06/06/motorola-v3m-available-on-verizon/">V3m</a> in a narrower, shinier package. On the plus side, the new dimensions apparently make the phone both easier and more comfortable to hold against the ear, battery life is top-notch with just over five hours of tested talk time, and the microSD slot means many owners will be able to carry over their investments in memory expansion from prior phones. Sadly, signal strength doesn't quite match that of its older sibling, and the UI is typical Verizon fare -- no Flash here, <em>a la</em> the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/08/22/the-last-lg-vx8500-mini-review-youll-ever-read/">VX8500 Chocolate</a> -- though it does share the Chocolate's tricky-to-use touch sensitive controls. In the end, it seems the K1m ends up setting the standard once again for mobile industrial design, while simultaneously managing to fall further behind in the spec sheet race.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/29/motorola-k1m-motokrzr-reviewed-on-verizon/">Motorola K1m MOTOKRZR reviewed on Verizon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 29 Sep 2006 23:27:00 EST. Sadly, signal strength doesn't quite match that of its older sibling, and the UI is typical Verizon fare -- no Flash here, <em>a la</em> the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/22/the-last-lg-vx8500-mini-review-youll-ever-read/">VX8500 Chocolate</a> -- though it does share the Chocolate's tricky-to-use touch sensitive controls. In the end, it seems the K1m ends up setting the standard once again for mobile industrial design, while simultaneously managing to fall further behind in the spec sheet race.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/reviews/" rel="tag">Reviews</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/verizon-wireless/" rel="tag">Verizon Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/1xrtt/" rel="tag">1xRTT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/29/motorola-k1m-motokrzr-reviewed-on-verizon/">Motorola K1m MOTOKRZR reviewed on Verizon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 29 Sep 2006 23:27:00 EST.
