What's that, a naked 2.5-inch hard disk? No way Jose, that's a USB 2.0/1.1 drive enclosure for 2.5-inch PATA disks. Amuse your friends, amaze your colleagues for whole seconds of knee slapping "tricked ya!" entertainment. Sigh. The GW2.5HD-U2 from Kuroutoshikou will be available in Japan at the end of the month for ¥1,280 or something like 10 bucks. [Via Impress]

If you're just bound and determined to turn your Mac mini into a home media center then be sure to check the matching enclosures from Japan's Kuroutoshikou. The external cases share the dimensions of the mini for easy stackin' action and come in a variety of configurations, all with space for a single 3.5-inch disk. The ¥2,980 (about $25) GW3.5MM-U2 connects over USB 2.0 for PATA disk expansion; the ¥3,480 (about $30) GW3.5MM-U2/HUB adds a 3-port USB 2.0 hub; the ¥3,980 (about $34) GW3.5MM-U2/S adds support for faster, SATA drives; and the ¥5,980 (about $51) GW3.5MM-U2/LAN comes with an Ethernet port for network accessible storage. Got all that? No problem, you've got until the end of the month before they hit Japan.[Via Impress]

Japanese manufacturer Kuroutoshikou looks to be one of the first, if not the first, to bridge the gap between your ExpressCard and your desktop computer with its new PCI Express-based adapter. Just pop the low-profile card into an available PCIe slot, slide in your ExpressCard of choice (54 or 34, it would seem), and in no time you'll be rocking card-based SATA, tuners, and EV-DO as no one intended it -- confined to your desk. As a bonus, Kuroutoshikou will also give you an extra USB 2.0 port. Look for the card to be available in Japan later this month for ¥4,980, or just over $40 US if you're planning on doing the importing thing.[Via Impress]
