If ever there were an LG Shine to live up to its lofty name, this would definitely be it. We'd like to introduce you to the Iron Man phone -- presented here by our boy Robert Downey, Jr. -- based on the Shine slider as sold by AT&T. Unlike the garden-variety Shine, the Iron Man edition trades up to a deep red case with gold plated highlights and a solid 18K gold battery cover to commemorate the launch of the film in style. That's plenty enough element 79 to give this thing some serious heft. We're not bragging, though -- we want you to have it.The phone is valued at a princely $1,500; twenty are being given away by LG directly -- we've got the twenty first. How do you pry it out of our hands? Easy: we want to see just how nasty, disgusting, and close to complete breakdown your current face candy is. Send us a pic and tell us a little bit about your poor, dilapidated phone and the long journey it's taken to its current state of disrepair. We'll pick the saddest entry and let you retire that terrible thing for something just a little flashier. One word of advice though: don't bother breaking your phone or taking a photo of your dad's Dynatac or something, that's not what we're looking for.Check out the gallery to see shots of the very Iron Man phone that could be yours, and don't forget to enter. Good luck! The rules (yeah, there are always rules) Send us your original photo. If we find your picture elsewhere on the internet, you will so be disqualified. Don't test us here, we've seen every picture of every phone. Ever. Email submissions to contests [at] engadget [dawt] com with the subject "I am Iron Man!" And for the love of our inbox, please keep your images 1MB or under, ok? You may only enter this contest once. If you enter this contest more than once you'll be automatically disqualified, etc. Contest is open to anyone in the 50 States, 18 or older! Sorry, we don't make this rule (we hate excluding anyone), so be mad at our lawyers and contest laws if you have to be mad. Entries must be in by 11:59PM EDT, Sunday, May 18th. After that, give us some time to sort through the entries and pick out the best (or worst, depending on how you look at it). %Gallery-22129%

Yes, that's right, one lucky Engadget Mobile reader is going to walk away with a gorgeous, ultra-limited LG Shine worth more than the combined value of, like, every phone we've ever had. How exactly does one get in on this action? Head on over to Mobile for the scoop!

  • Keepin' it real fake, part LXXXIII: LG's Shine gets a clone

The Shine may already be available in a variety of colors, but we're confident that LG had no part in this one. The so-called Venus JXD205 purports to be your average PMP, sporting AVI / MP3 / WMA / WAV support, a 2.4-inch QVGA color screen, FM tuner, built-in gaming function and an expansion slot that supports cards up to 2GB in size. Interestingly enough, it looks almost identical to a famed member of the Black Label series, but we doubt you'll do much any calling on this thing. Nevertheless, those willing to buy a potential heap can grab the 1GB version for 399CNY ($53), or you can double your capacity for just 100CNY ($13) more.[Via PMPToday, thanks Brian B.]

  • LG Shine "Signature" LG-LC3600 features personal engraving

LG's new Signature LG LC-3600 Shine brings yet another Shine option to market -- that thankfully lacks any beaded appliqué -- for fans of this pretty slick handset line. The "Signature" bit in the name is thanks to LG's deal to see your own signature -- or some other text -- engraved directly on the set. The 9.9-mm thin handset comes packing a 1.3 megapixel camera, 150 minutes talk and 150 hours standby time, and microSD memory expansion all packed in a 90 gram metal housing. We're not huge fans of all that engraving stuff, but the handset itself would do just fine.[Via UnwiredView]

We usually tank posts on new handset colors – yes, folks, we do listen when you yell and cry out – but we're so fond of LG's Shine, that we couldn't resist this time. No reason to think they've packed any new goodies under the hood here, we're thinking it's purely a cosmetic refresh on an otherwise excellent handset. We do, however, wonder why the new palette didn't get applied to the entire handset, but are fairly sure it will find some admirers out there who appreciate the red gift-wrapping. No word on if a non-Korean version will land on our shores, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled.[Via Just Another Mobile Phone Blog]

  • LG's Shine flips out for the gold for SK Telecom

Are you craving an LG Shine with a little less "slide" and a little more "flip"? Add a dose of gold into that formula and you have the new LG Shine handset in flip form with a gold, real metal casing -- and it looks just about identical to the Verizon VX8700, yes? Anyway, this CeBIT announcement comes as SK Telecom announced it would start shipping the new "Gold Shine" to its customers in the coming weeks (no firm date set just yet). We see no issue here since Verizon Wireless and SK Telecom don't really have competing wireless territories, and it appears that nothing has changed from the older Shine slider SK Telecom already carries. So, just the form factor is changing here. For you clamshell lovers in SK Telecom territory, though, this just may be your ticket.[Via Crave]

  • Be safe, have two carriers on the go

Since Apple's iPhone announcement a little over a month ago, touch screen handsets have been popping up all over our radar screen. As touch screens bet more attention in 2007, the Eliya is a new entrant with an actual distinguishing feature apart from a touch screen and a smartphone operating system -- dual SIM support. There are little and unremarkable tricks to get two SIMs into most phones (yeah, we know many are kinda low-tech), but how about OEM support for two cards? If you're into having two GSM carriers -- maybe one for voice and one for data -- the Eliya will hook you up from the start. No carving into your previous SIMs so you can stick them somewhere in a single SIM slot. Ok, we saved the kicker for last -- this Eliya unit can support both SIMs at once -- and you can be registered on two separate systems as once as well. No switching between SIMs in your phone's menu. Dual registration on two GSM systems at the same time -- and it's only 2007.

  • Hands-on with the LG Shine

We knew it was here, so we tracked down LG's new GSM variant of the Shine phone and gave it a quick go-around. Straight up, the Shine is one fine slider. We were surprised to find it lacking the same, touch sensitive controls found on the Chocolate. Instead, the Shine is equipped with a spinning thumb wheel across the midriff which scrolls like butter. The feel is solid, not heavy, and the slider springs with a satisfying pop into place to revel that laser etched keypad. We didn't put it though a rigorous suite of tests by any stretch of the imagination. However, it certainly looks like a winner based upon first impressions. Check the gallery for more pics. Hands-on with the LG Shine
