Pay close attention here -- odds are this is as close as you'll ever get to the mythical M610i from Sony Ericsson. For most of us, that's just fine, but for others, this could be a pretty heart-wrenching 9 minutes and 28 seconds as our Polish reviewer takes us through a painstakingly detailed rundown of the stillborn UIQ handset's hardware and software. The video's host takes note that the phone features WiFi, an Opera-based browser (labeled as "experimental" but flawless in real-world use), a 208MHz processor, 128MB of RAM along with about 181MB of user storage, and Bluetooth; what the phone doesn't feature is a camera, and that's what would've made the device a potentially compelling choice for buttoned-up business types that can't have a cameraphone (read: P1i) on the premises. Keep your chins up, though, UIQ faithful -- this thing's so stale at this point that we've gotta believe there's already something better in the pipe.[Via My-Symbian.com]

  • Sony Ericsson M610i offered through eBay, not Sony Ericsson

Somewhere below the mighty P1i in Sony Ericsson's UIQ-based smartphone lineup lies the M600, a phone that introduced the world to one of the most bizarre QWERTY keypad styles we've ever seen -- a style Sony Ericsson continues to sporadically use today. Thing is, the M600's getting awfully long in the tooth, and we've been waiting on the long-rumored (and FCC-confirmed) M610 for a long freakin' time now. It may still be getting tweaked deep within Sony Ericsson's labs, but at least one prototype example has strayed far enough from home to find itself listed on eBay's German site. Bearing the trademark "SE123" found on prerelease Sony Ericssons, the thing certainly looks legit -- though we're not really convinced it looks better than the M600 it's destined to replace. Then again, maybe that's why it hasn't been announced yet.[Via Unwired View]

  • Sony Ericsson's M610i Lizy snapped in the wild

While we much prefer the looks of a recent Sony Ericsson concept over this here handset, we're sure the M610i Lizy will excite its fair share of owners, regardless. The stubby candybar-styled handset looks to sport a prominent touchscreen and a keypad that reeks of 1999, but we did hear that this device would indeed be a tri-band GSM member, and would include Bluetooth, WiFi, FM radio, an integrated camera and a Memory Stick Micro card slot. 'Course, we're all still waiting on something official, but hopefully it'll get somewhat of a facial rework before vying for our attention at the mobile store.

  • Sony Ericsson M610i "Lizy" sees FCC approval

So is it the "Elena" or the "Lizy?" We'd previously though that Sony Ericsson's upcoming M610i bore the "Elena" codename, but the FCC filing for this sucker just came through with "Lizy" plastered all over it. No bother; the important thing is the device itself, which seems to be a promising upgrade to the M600 and will probably slot in right under the recently-announced P1 in Sony Ericsson's UIQ-based smartphone lineup. Highlights include a triband UMTS radio (no 850 -- surprise, surprise), Bluetooth, WiFi, and that love-it-or-hate-it QWERTY keypad rocker buttons to access letters. No word on release or pricing just yet, but we figure we can't be too far off from an official announcement.[Via Unwired View]

  • Sony Ericsson P700i in the wild

We're finally starting to see real pics of the P700i trickle in from out on the interweb -- good thing, too, as we were seriously considering a moratorium on this madness -- and it seems the lads at mobilecowboys.nl got their hands on some pretty decent pics of the new UIQ 3 device. Lo and behold, one even features a "system" screen which lists the device name as "P700i." The word from the gents who had a chance to play with it is that it has a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, triple band 900 / 1800 / 1900 with UMTS (this seems rather non-North American to us), WiFi, jogdial, touchscreen, and 160MB of internal storage. Of course, until it gets launched any of this could well change, and as usual we will be posting those updates here.Read - Pics of the P700iRead - More pics of the P700i

  • Could this be the Sony Ericsson P700i?

Alright, we're really shrugging our collective shoulders at this one. Apparently the render pictured here is the Sony Ericsson P700i, but we were under the impression it was the M610i (we peeped an XML doc on SE's site that seemed to imply the M610i was "real"). Sony Ericsson's "P" series handsets have always been touch screen, UIQ affairs -- think P800, P900, P910, P990 -- so this is throwing us for a bit of a loop. Whatever the case may be, the specs we're seeing include a 2.6 inch QVGA screen, 3.2 megapixel shooter, 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, and that rocker-style QWERTY keyboard. If there is anybody out there with more info that feels inspired to chime in, please be our guests!

  • Sneak peek at Sony Ericsson's Elena and Sophia?

Sony Ericsson, like Apple, has a faithful collective of rumor hounds chasing after tidbits on its newest handsets; while we're frequently skeptical (why all the blurry pics?) we do love 'em and the insight they occasionally provide. We've heard various bits and bobs about the M610i and K850i -- codenamed Elena and Sophia, respectively -- and judging by the shots above, they both are starting to look a little more legit. Specs are still unclear, though the word is the K850i will be packing a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, xenon flash, a metal body, and judging by the pic above, a really crazy-looking key layout. The M610i will apparently replace the M600i as a business users' handset and add a 3.2 megapixel cam to the mix, a feature sorely missed in the M600i. No prices, availability, or concrete specs yet, but we'll do our darndest to keep the updates flowing as we get them.[Thanks, Michael and David]

We've been in waiting for some legit snaps of the forthcoming Sony Ericsson M610i smartphone since its rumors began hitting the Sony Ericsson universe. We just knew that some official pics were the real deal when we spotted this M610i (aka "Elena") sporting a purple dress. No Photoshop hound would dare do that, right? Anyway, with the Elena apparently out in the wild, we have a feeling it won't be long now before proper units start flooding the streets. Rumored deets: a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, WiFi, and -- we hope -- HSDPA. Oh yeah -- we're almost positive this baby will have the newest version of UIQ as well. While we're not sure if the "Elena" is the sister phone to the "Lizzy," we're waiting with baited breath for both.[Via Just Another Mobile Phone Blog, thanks David]
