Marvel Heroes got a new playable character today, its 41st overall but just its second playable villain. That villain is Magneto, X-nemesis and master of magnetism who can "wield the power of electromagnetism to levitate and crush enemies with debris, cars, and even Sentinels with his ultimate power." Renowned voice actor James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ratchet, Final Fantasy X's Tidus) is the man behind the mask, and Gazillion creative designer Ryan Collins says that Magneto boasts "some of the most intense visual effects in the game." • X-Men enthusiast turns himself into a real-world Magneto (sort of)

Sure, we'd all love to have at least a few super powers, but finding the right scientific "accident" to make your dreams comes true can be such a hassle. One British inventor, Colin Furze, is taking matters into to his own hands, and has started designing projects that give him some of the same abilities as X-Men characters. He started with real-world Wolverine claws, and now he's channeling metal-master Magneto with shoes that let him walk on the ceiling. It's not exactly the same experience you might have if your whole body was able to control everything metal, but it's still pretty impressive to watch.

Marvel Heroes is looking to substantially beef up its super-powered roster in 2014, as the devs are prepping a huge round of playable villains and heroes for an upcoming release. These new characters will include Venom, Juggernaut, Magneto, Psylocke, Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Moon Knight, Nightcrawler, Sue Storm, and Star-Lord, as well as a couple of additional comic book icons to be named later. Even though the new characters are not in the game yet, Gazillion is hosting an "advance pack" sale for players who want to pick all of them up for a discount. Players can spend either $99.99 or $129.99 to get all 12 characters as well as various extras including costumes, fortune cards, retcon devices, and even an extra hero.

  • Marvel Heroes outlined in debut dev diary

Gazillion Entertainment's President and COO, David Brevik, used Marvel Heroes' first dev diary to tout some features of the upcoming free-to-play title. Marvel Heroes claims to combine Diablo-esque action with an MMO world stocked with Marvel personalities and locations. Players will be able to choose from the best characters that Marvel has to offer, which Brevik pointed out means that characters will have backstories and relationships with other characters which will make them that much more engaging. These familiar heroes will be running through well-known Marvel environments, but Brevik says that there is an element of randomness that will keep the spirit of adventure and discovery alive. The game comes with all the best parts of the Marvel universe: Multiple suits for characters allow players to choose between iconic looks, the story itself is being shaped by comic book legend Brian Michael Bendis, and motion comics illustrated by Marvel artists bring the story to life. If you're the type that needs to see to believe, there's good news: Marvel Heroes will be playable at the Marvel Booth (#2329) at Comic-Con International: San Diego. According to a Gazillion press release, fans in attendance will be able to play as one of four Marvel heroes and wade into Mutant Town to face off against Magneto. Marvel will be holding other events during the con, with plans for contests, giveaways, and a games panel where new Marvel Heroes characters and content will be revealed. To hear the big man himself, head below the drop to check out the dev diary video.

  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 'Ancient Warrior' DLC delayed, Magneto's regalia deemed too regal

Bad news, kind of: a selection of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 costume DLC has been bumped a few months, and will offer one fewer option when it gets here. The "Ancient Warrior Pack" DLC, once set for December 20, has been bumped until March 6 in North America, and March 7 in Europe. When it does arrive, it'll be short one costume, the Magneto get-up from Marvel's "House of M" series. Shoryuken notes that the costume has caused a bit of controversy in Spain, due to its resemblance to the traditional garb of king Juan Carlos. We suppose it is a bit undignified to see someone who looks just like your monarch being punched by a space raccoon. For that matter, it's probably not the most flattering thing to be indirectly referred to as an "Ancient Warrior." There's no word on whether the price will change in acknowledgement of the now smaller DLC pack; Capcom said it will announce pricing "closer to launch."

While you can simply watch these two videos introducing MODOK and Magneto to the Marvel vs Capcom 3 cast, we wanted to simulate the experience of being at New York Comic Con. The Marvel Games panel was bursting with energy, with fans cheering on their favorite characters. Who would you want to play as? The obscure, but awesomely named and shaped "Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing" -- or fan-favorite Magneto? Let us know.

  • New goodies, and baddies, coming to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

Xbox 360 owners, traded in your Marvel: Ultimate Alliance disc yet? If you did, then you'll be missing out on the opportunity to fork over your Microsoft points in exchange for some additional characters. In April you'll be able to purchase either a 'Heroes' pack or a 'Villains' pack for 500 points apiece, or both for 800. Whoever said that Activision doesn't like to make a deal and pass the savings along to you?The Heroes pack includes: Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Hawkeye, and The Incredible Hulk. On the flipside, the Villains group consists of Venom, Magneto, Sabretooth, and Doctor Doom ... which sounds like an 80s hair-band mega-metal tour. Both packs will include new achievements as well, breathing some life back into this game. Hopefully this is a trend that'll continue for awhile, because we like adding some shelf-life and playability to our games. Of course, we're still waiting on additional achievements for Whacked!, but that's a different story.

  • ORSiO Pocket PC phone in the pipeline

If you're wondering just who or what ORSiO might be, you're not alone -- but let's not get caught up in the details. Some rather fuzzy shots of spec sheets have been leaked, and it looks like we can expect fairly typical non-3G Pocket PC Phone Edition fare: quad-band GSM plus EDGE, 2.7-inch QVGA display, 2-megapixel shooter, 192MB of internal flash plus miniSD expansion, and a beefy 524MHz XScale to keep it all humming along atop Windows Mobile 5. MSMobileNews is reporting AKU3 will be in the box, but we beg to differ -- the feature list pretty clearly indicates AKU2. (Way to get us all excited, guys.) And a little tip to our anonymous sources: 5 megapixels would do wonders for those covertly-acquired shots.
