After stops in Boston, LA and Austin the Engadget Live tour is coming to a close for 2015. Before we park the party bus for the year, we're making one last stop tonight: New York City. Join us at the Liberty Warehouse in Brooklyn starting at 7PM to hang with your fellow tech junkies and some of the companies you know and love. Ford will be showing off its SYNC 3 system and the new 2016 Ford Escape. And if you're 21 or over, Drizly will mix you up a cocktail -- so long as you're one of the first 250 folks to arrive. Tickets are still available (and they're free), so if you're in NYC stop by and join us!

All you need to do is bring cash for drinks, food and any arcade games you'd like to play. Oh, and we'll have plenty of time for ugly-selfie contests, because why not. You'll find the necessary the details below -- or you could RSVP via Facebook pages for each event (San Francisco and New York).

Last night, WoW Insider and Wowhead hosted their annual party at the Annabella Hotel. The party was from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. PST, but the line began before 5. It was at capacity very quickly, leaving many people standing in line to get in. Gamebreaker.tv broadcast the event, conducting interviews and otherwise putting on a good show. At the same time, many people were lined up at the Anaheim Convention Center to pick up their BlizzCon badges. There were quite a few tweets from attendees complaining about how long the line was, but at least the weather was good and there were things to look at. Photos of the event and the BlizzCon badge line are in the slideshows below.

Thanks Boston! We had a blast at last night's event at Space 57, our first-ever combined Engadget + gdgt meetup in Beantown. We got a look at the latest gear from companies like iRobot, Roku, TiVo and 3D printing startup, FormLabs. We also had the chance to talk with all you collegiate types -- seems like everyone in this town is running a cool tech startup. Guess that's what happens when you visit the home of Harvard, MIT and more universities than we're capable of rattling off in a single post. Thanks for the photos, the tweets, the business cards and the drink tickets. We'll be back soon!

Hey there Emerald City, it's been a while -- around ten months, to be exact. We're coming back to Seattle at the end of this month, and this time we're bringing our pals from gdgt with us. We'll be throwing the latest Engadget + gdgt event at the Showbox SoDo on August 31st. As usual, there'll be plenty to see and play with (and take home, if you're lucky), from the likes of Outlook, Nokia and Logitech. We're also holding a startup contest, so one up-and-coming local company can score floorspace gratis. You can nab a free ticket for yourself and a friend or two at the source link below. It's also not too late to get in on that sponsorship action. See you in Seattle!

Comic-Con may not be a vital venue for launching new gadgets, but for many attendees later today, the intersection of tech and art will be just up the street at 6th and Island Ave. -- the location of tonight's Engadget + gdgt Live event. We're on the ground in San Diego for this evening's festivities, and we've already spent some time exploring the convention center, too, including a mandatory stop to check out Rovio's hardware-equipped Angry Birds Star Wars 2. As for tonight, you can expect to see lots of hot products from companies like Microsoft, Nokia, iRobot and Western Digital at the Stingaree lounge in the Gaslamp Quarter. As always, we'll have giveaway items up for grabs, so there's always a chance that you'll head home with some awesome gear. And best of all, the event is free! Everything kicks off at 7PM. We hope to see you there!%Gallery-194192%

As most of you know by now, we've recently welcomed some old friends back to the fold here at greater Aol Tech. We're thrilled to be working with the gdgt crew on our first event together, tomorrow night in Austin during SXSW. We'd love to have you join us for a night of fun gadgety action -- take a break from your intense schedule of panels and booze buses and come on out to mingle with gdgt and Engadget staff, check out the devices our sponsors are bringing in spades (plus win some!) and have a great time with like-minded technophiles. It's free to attend, and you don't even need a SXSW badge to get in. The one catch: you must be 21 or over to come to this party (upside: open bar!), although our future events will be all ages. When: Saturday, March 9th (7:00pm – 10:00pm CST) Where: The Hype Hotel, 301 Brazos Street Austin, TX How: RSVP hereSee you there!

  • Breakfast Topic: How well do you know your guildmates?

    by

I used to have guildmates -- but now I just call them "friends." We abandoned the "guildmate" tag somewhere along the line a few years ago, after it became apparent that we all preferred adapting our gaming to our group size rather than our group size to our gaming. That's not to say we're not open to the idea of new people. But the people I play with on an ongoing basis across multiple games don't call each other "guildmates," even though we've never met in real life. We're on Facebook, in IM, and on TeamSpeak even when we're not gaming together. We're just "friends." I've known some pretty nice guildmates who made great "game friends," though. I learned all the details and odd little things about them that you do when you spend entire evenings with people on a regular basis: the nicknames they call their family members and pets, what they like on their pizza, what they studied in college, what time they get up for work. Even so, we never developed that crossover bond that leads to offline friendship. I removed their cell numbers from my contacts list once there was no longer a need to see if they could fill in on an off night or to let them know to come quick, the world boss was up RIGHT NOW! Still, I can't even imagine being in a guild where the only thing I knew about my guildmates was their character names. Simply unimaginable. How well do you know your guildmates? Are they merely nice people you game with, or have you built a toasty little internet friendship? Not a few guilds make a habit of annual or even more frequent real-world meetups (like The Incredibles, above). Have you ever met your guildmates? How well do you know most of the folks you play with?

Wow. Thank you, New York City! We had a blast at last night's reader meetup, and judging from everyone we spoke to, a Roseland Ballroom packed full of Gotham gadget geeks had a grand 'ole time as well. Twelve lucky readers walked away with a Samsung Galaxy Note II on Sprint and nearly 30 people took home house cleaning bots from the folks at iRobot -- not to mention the Nook tablets, Oakley Airwave goggles and VestGuard UK Ballistic bulletproof case and iPad, to name but a few. We tested readers' tech (and Wu Tang) knowledge and dancing and singing skills. There were booths from Sprint, Samsung, Garmin, Speck, Dell, Barnes & Noble, MakerBot, iRobot, Oakley and GoGo Inflight, or as attendee Peter M. put it, a "mini-CES meets A Night at the Improv." Relive the magic in the gallery below. %Gallery-172379% Zach Honig contributed to this report.

Goodnight Seattle! Man, we sure had a blast at last night's reader meetup. The party went down at the Showbox Theater, right across the street from the city's fishy Pike Place Market. Droves of Emerald City Engadget readers braved the drizzle to hang out, talk tech and win some of the year's coolest gadgets -- including a brand new Microsoft Surface RT (yes, it came with a keyboard), a Nexus 7 and a pair of Kindle Fire HDs. We learned a lot of valuable lessons: everything's better with a green screen, people want to know where we go sweater shopping and Seattle's gadget geeks don't really know all that much about the Wu Tang Clan. Thanks everyone for coming out -- we'll see you in New York City! %Gallery-169739% Philip Palermo contributed to this report.
