Foxconn establishes its North American headquarters in Milwaukee
Foxconn is extending its fledgling American footprint beyond its planned display factory in Wisconsin. The tech manufacturing behemoth is establishing its North American headquarters in Milwaukee, 30 miles north of the upcoming factory. It's buying a seven-story building from Northwestern Mutual and expects 500 people to work at the facility, which will include an innovation hub to help startups create apps using its display tech. That's a drop in the bucket compared to the intend 13,000 jobs at the screen facility, but it's symbolic of the company's US presence -- it's not just dabbling this time around.
AR games like 'Pokémon Go' need a permit in Milwaukee
Pokémon hunting is apparently a messy business. The Milwaukee County Board passed an ordinance requiring the creators of location-based augmented reality games like Pokémon Go obtain permits before using parks as in-game landmarks. Since it specifically targets game makers, it won't keep Pokémon players out of the parks, but it sets ground rules for developers who want to use them in their games.
DoJ shells out $23 million for the President's body camera pilot program
The Department of Justice announced last May that it would fund a national pilot program for law enforcement body cameras, a plan first put forth by President Obama. On Monday, the DoJ made good on that promise by awarding $23 million in grants to 32 states for the purchase of these devices. Of that total, $19.3 million will go towards actually purchasing the necessary 50,000 cameras, another $2 million is earmarked for training and the remaining $1.9 million will be used to conduct impact studies in Miami, Milwaukee and Phoenix.

Beyond money and life's responsibilities, anyway. If Vib-ribbon is fair game for a 2014 appearance, can we go ahead and get our hopes for comparably-unlikely surprises? Sure, StarCraft: Ghost's indefinitely-on-hold status is probably irreversible at this point, but if Blizzard felt like continuing development in secret for years and launching it without warning, we wouldn't be upset. Valve, you're more than welcome to do the same with fresh installments in the Half Life or Left 4 Dead series. Google Offers expands to five new locales, hipsters in Portland nonchalantly recall being first
Despite Mountain View's efforts to the contrary, neither Google Wallet nor Offers, have yet to set the payment sector alight. That doesn't mean the search giant's throwing in the towel, as it vehemently expands the latter into five additional cities here in the United States. Residents of Charlotte, Kansas City, Milwaukee, San Antonio and Tampa will soon be able to participate in all sorts of discounted debauchery, joining bargain-hunters in the service's existing 33 locales. Well, no, the few bubbles of real civilization in Wisconsin rule. Milwaukee, Madison, and maybe (maybe) the Green Bay area. Everything in between those points are like something out of a horror movie. In transit from Milwaukee to Madison, all of the passengers in the car keep their eyes squeezed shut while the driver breaks out in a cold sweat. Packers fans fling themselves at your vehicle like the undead, crying out for your blood and pounding their fists on your windows. The only thing that you can do, the only thing you want to do, is keep driving.Milwaukee, though? Totally rules.aw232 asked..."I'm starting to think that there won't be a raid included in 3.2. Milwaukee's WISN introduces HD on-screen weather graphic
It's a pet peeve of anyone who watches any amount of high-definition television: the oh-so-annoying weather caption. Picture this: you and your pals gather 'round the tele to catch an HD sporting event, and on the final play of the second half, your local broadcaster decides to insert a breaking weather scroll to inform you that it's been snowing for four hours now. Traditionally, that insertion forces the game to shift to an SD feed, essentially ruining your viewing experience. Thankfully, the engineers at Milwaukee's WISN have figured out how to slot in an HD-friendly weather bug that keeps viewers up to speed on alerts while keeping their hair follicles safe and frustration levels down. Kudos, WISN.
TWC adding more HD to Wisconsin's lineup
The weather's getting pretty extreme up in Northeast Wisconsin right about now, so it's a perfect time for a new batch of HD stations to keep you cozy inside the house. As of this moment, users in the region should see USA HD (536), SciFi HD (562) and Travel HD (570), while Golf HD (525) and Versus HD (526) are expected to split into two stations come Monday. Also of note, Fox Cities TV has dug up a legal notice that hints at a number of other high-def stations coming soon; among them are: FX HD, LMN HD, Weather HD, Cinemax HD, Starz HD, Bravo HD, CNBC HD, Speed HD and Planet Green HD. Needless to say, it'd be a very merry holiday 'round these parts should that load show up in the near future. AT&T talks Total Home DVR rollouts in seven new, not so new areas
We already know you love AT&T's Total Home DVR service, but for whatever reason the company's been less than forthcoming about where and when its hitting across the country. Likely spurred on by our coverage (or maybe not) the latest press release breaks down the seven markets currently feeling the joy of multiple HD stream recording and sharing wash over them like rain, or a particularly refreshing soda. U-verse users in Atlanta, Cleveland, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Reno and Sacramento should all have access to the free software upgrade as of today. AT&T's U-verse Total Home DVR shows up unannounced in Milwaukee, WI
AT&T hasn't made it official or anything, but one particular U-verse user in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is already enjoying the spoils of Total Home DVR. That's right -- Milwaukee residents subscribed to the provider's fiber-based TV service can now check out recorded programs on any connected TV, not just the main set in the den. Brewers' Miller Park getting HD scoreboard for 2010 Opening Day
The dream may be over this year for the Milwaukee Brewers, but that doesn't mean fans can't begin thinking about next year. As the remaining MLB clubs fight it out for baseball's greatest prize, Miller Park is getting set to get a new coat of grass this off-season. Additionally, the park will get fitted with a brand new HD scoreboard, and while specifications were sadly absent, it will be installed and ready to wow by Opening Day 2010.[Image courtesy of iGouGo]
FSN Wisconsin airing 25 Milwaukee Bucks games in HD
FSN Wisconsin has kept Brewers fans happy all summer long, and now that the NBA season is just around the bend, it's about time we heard from the channel on that front. When the Milwaukee Bucks hit the hardwood this year, FSN Wisconsin will be there to broadcast 25 of its matchups in glorious high-definition. The HD fun gets going on November 8th when the team takes on the Phoenix Suns, and you can check out the full schedule in the read link below. Now, if only the club could find some talent...
Milwaukee, Wisconsin gifted with 13 more TWC HD channels
Go 'head, Milwaukee! Get on down with your bad self. Time Warner Cable is pulling a Mr. Nice Guy and adding a jaw-dropping quantity of high-def stations in the Wisconsin city, and reportedly, the whole crew will be online by the end of this month. Eager to know what newcomers are, um, coming? Try Food Network HD (515), Palladia (523), Discovery HD (538), TLC HD (540), Animal Planet HD (543), ABC Family HD (517), Disney HD (519), Golf / Versus HD (526), ESPNews HD (529), Science HD (520), FOX News HD (522), CNN HD (544) and Hallmark Movie Channel (546). Milwaukee TV stations band together for analog shutoff test
We know it must be terrifying, Milwaukee, to think of all those poor television viewers you may end up leaving in the dark, but at least you've seen other cities come before you and survive. Hot on the heels of Wilmington, NC killing the analog beams for realz, in flies word that a dozen Milwaukee, Wisconsin stations will be having a test of the digital TV conversion at around 5:10PM (local time) on September 15th. Obviously, viewers in the area will be warned beforehand, but we're sure a select few will choose to ignore the flashing hazard lights and suffer through a few agonizing minutes of fuzz. DISH Network launching HD locals in four more markets
After the onslaught of rapid-fire HD locals launches in March, all has been quiet on the DISH Network front -- until now. Four more markets can gleefully celebrate the homecoming of HD locals via DISH: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tampa, Florida, Cleveland, Ohio and Richmond, Virginia. Each of the aforementioned locales will be receiving their respective local ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX stations save for Milwaukee, which will sadly miss out on CBS. You're all giddy, aren't you? The HD locals go live for these four regions on April 10th at 6:00AM ET -- yeah, tomorrow!
According to local news station, DS = child molestation tool

Of course, their arguments explaining the dangers of the handheld lack any kind of credible backing. See, they explain that you can communicate, via Pictochat, with another DS over "long distances," stating that due to the lack of advertising for this feature, parents should be worried about molesters contacting their children over the DS.Honestly, if that's going to happen, they have to be relatively close, like say in your neighborhood. Now, if a convicted child molester lives in your neighborhood, you're going to know about it. Also, if their is someone planning an evil deed of that nature, they're going to find a different way other than using a DS. Not only does the recipient of the message have to be in Pictochat (which I'm sure a child is rarely going to be in, they want to play games!), they have to be within wireless range.How does the reporter prove that horrible things can happen? He uses the Pictochat feature with two children. While they're upstairs in their room, he sits downstairs. We won't even bother going into the ridiculous "proof" THAT provides. After that, he goes to a shopping mall and attempts to debunk Nintendo's documented 65 feet range for wireless communication. Of course, he is successful in sending messages up to 300 feet, but what does that prove? Following his logic, even in that range a predator is going to have to be within somewhat close proximity, with their DS in Pictochat constantly looking for children (the odds of a predator finding someone are also insanely slim). This guy makes it sound like there are a roving pack of molesters going from town to town, trying to find children in Pictochat so he/she can get addresses. Get real, guy!
