DS Lite gets "liter," less functional
This is one crafter's answer to all the criticisms about the DS Lite being too bulky and sturdy. Or it would be, if those criticisms existed and weren't crazy. Junyang's papercraft DS Lite is actually part of a series of miniaturized electronic devices, any of which would make a very nice (and very small) display piece. But we especially love when paper and glue come together to honor our favorite handheld. And look at that teensy Nintendogs cartridge! It actually fits into the cartridge slot. That's the kind of detail work that has us rushing to print our own and get started, after we edit the image to change Nintendogs to Elite Beat Agents. Knowing our stumpy, clumsy fingers, the end result of our folding and gluing won't be quite so photogenic. But hey, that's no reason not to try it yourself!
Create your own miniature electric chair
Sure, we've got plenty of options to sit in when it comes to rewarding yourself, but what if you've got a mischievous trick-or-treater that really needs some payback for stiffing you in the candy department? Enter Lil' Sparky, the miniaturized (albeit potent) electric chair, handcrafted to scare the living daylights out of anything or anyone who dares to place its behind in it. Rob Cruickshank has officially "put the cute in electrocute" by wiring up a wooden electric chair that's powered by a single 9-volt battery and can deliver the juice to the unlucky participant with just the flip of a toggle switch. While we certainly don't condone the act of channeling unabated voltage through anybody's bones, be sure to peep the video of the electrifying chair in all its sizzling glory just in case the need presents itself. World's most easily misplaced cellphone?
We just sorta figured that there was some unwritten rule among cellphone manufacturers that loosely said something to the effect of "don't make a phone much smaller than a Pantech C300." Don't get us wrong, we never doubted that the wonders of modern electronic miniaturization could produce a phone the size of a Bluetooth headset, but we're figuring you're likely to mistake it for a variety of other, far more disposable objects in your pocket -- coins, lighters, and the like -- not to mention the obvious usability concerns. Nevertheless, the Xun Chi 138 forges ahead with the submicronic form factor, trading a traditional keypad for a touch sensitive display with handwriting recognition while still managing to pack in USB connectivity, an MP3 player with 121MB of storage, and what we think is a VGA cam (despite the clever "1.3 MEGA PLIXS" label). On the downside, the handset tops out with lowly GPRS, but then again, we can't imagine consuming terribly much data with a display the size of our thumbnail.[Via The Raw Feed]
