Haemimont Games is still working on its Diablo-style platforming dungeon crawler Victor Vran, but the game's first expansion is looking metal... heavy metal. Inspired by the album covers of yore, the studio is creating an expansion featuring an aesthetic and sound inspired by the band Motörhead. Haemimont CEO Gabriel Dobrev showed us some early footage of the add-on, which will have all new environments, sounds, enemies and style. The character of Victor Vran will be replaced by another character and the game will stand with its own story.

  • Dyson's Motorhead cordless vacuum challenges your classic upright

Like many companies, when Dyson's not trying to develop a genre-busting product, it's usually at the drawing board fine-tuning existing lines. That's certainly the case with its recent twist on the DC59 Animal cordless, aptly named the Motorhead. While the original model was a step up from the electric brooms I've used in my appliance-poor youth -- both in performance and price -- this newest iteration challenges conventional vacuums at tackling bare floors and carpets with the gusto of a full-sized machine. It's only a fraction of a pound heavier than the earlier model and just as petite and portable, but it boasts a 75 percent increase in suction with its new motorized cleaning head. It arrives today on Dyson's website and other select retailers costing $550 -- a slight jump in price over the previous version -- and should hit more retail outlets in the fall. I took it for a quick test-drive through my Brooklyn apartment to see how it stacks up against its portable predecessor and find out if that price boost delivers a significantly better machine.

Next week's Rock Band update is a raucous blend of heavy-hitting tunes, comprised of songs from Motörhead, Blue Oyster Cult and Rage Against the Machine. The metal mayhem, for obvious reasons, won't be compatible with Lego Rock Band -- somehow we just can't picture Lego people playing "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult without being rocked to pieces. Check out the full pricing and track details for the console releases after the break.

During an interview with Public Radio International, Harmonix co-founder Eran Egozy spoke about his current musical inspirations and walked listeners through a tour of his offices. While making his way through the cubicles and sacrificial chambers that undoubtedly inhabit the offices that rawk built, the PRI host stumbled upon one employee playing something that sounded a bit familiar -- something that sounded a lot like Mötorhead."I was working on '(We Are) The Road Crew,' which is an upcoming DLC track," the Harmonix employee responded to inquiries about the track. Of course, Lemmy and his pals are no strangers to Rock Band or games in general; Mötorhead is featured in the upcoming Metal Track Pack, frontman Lemmy has been immortalized in Guitar Hero: Metallica and he was almost Eddie Riggs in the upcoming Brütal Legend.[Via Plastic Axe]

A recent addition to the ESRB ratings list reveals an upcoming "Metal" track pack for Rock Band for PS2, PS3, Wii and 360. The ESRB rated the expansion with a "Teen" rating due to the upcoming pack's inclusion of songs with expletives "as well as allusions to violence." It's a good thing the game doesn't make detailed references to violence!Example lyrics given by the ESRB reveal two of the track pack's songs: "D.O.A." by Haunted and "Transmaniacon MC" by Blue Oyster Cult, a brand new addition to the Rock Band franchise. A leaked achievement list also reveals "Killed by Death" by Motorhead, "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth, and "Master of the Universe" by Hawkwind as new songs exclusive to the pack. Considering the last Rock Band track pack debuted 13 new songs unavailable as DLC, we're confident that this new addition will do the same.Rock Band: Metal Track Pack hasn't been announced yet, but considering the reliability of the ESRB's ratings, we expect EA and MTV Games to announce the full track list, along with the track pack itself, within the next few weeks.[Thanks, Justin R.!]

Brütal Legend developer Double Fine has been working on its heavy metal-based action game for some time now. And they've got the leftover art assets to prove it. Recently showcasing a grip of work from the past few years previously only seen during the "Brutal art of Brütal Legend" panel at GDC 2009, the screens (below in the gallery) hint at the variety of metal themed environments we're anxiously awaiting to fully explore come the game's October release date. Possibly most interesting of all is the distinctly Lemmy-ized main character, pre-Jack Black days apparently. But really, would it have been so hard to see the Motörhead lead singer commanding the armies of rock in a revolution? Yeah, not so much.[Via Kotaku]%Gallery-63101%

Upcoming Guitar Hero: Metallica will feature the likeness of Motörhead frontman, Lemmy, as a playable character, continuing the franchise's tradition of including celebrities in-game. "It's great to be in Guitar Hero with all these famous people and I'm really pleased to be in it with Metallica," Lemmy said. Well, we can say we're glad you're in it, too! With Guitar Hero: Metallica featuring a variety of non-Metallica tracks (as well as some of the classic Metallica tunes), and now Lemmy, it's going to be hard to ignore this when it hits retail in North America on March 29.

Guitar Hero: World Tour is going to be a big game. Not only because of all of the features included in the title, but also because it's making some of the most legendary of rockers come out of the woodwork to remaster their songs for the game. MC5's Wayne Kramer is one of these figures, as he went into the studio to re-record his band's hit song "Kick Out the Jams" just for this game. Along with Wayne, friends Jerry Cantrell of Alice and Chains and Gilby Clark formerly of Guns 'N' Roses joined in on the track. Also, it turns out that when The Sex Pistols re-recorded a track for Guitar Hero 3, they also did another track, "Pretty Vacant," which will be featured in the upcoming game. As if that wasn't enough, Motorhead also hit the studio and redid their song "Overkill."On top of that, four new tracks were also confirmed for the game, albeit from more modern artists. These tracks are none other than: The Living End -- "Prisoner of Society" Los Lobos -- "La Bamba" Bullet for My Valentine -- "Scream Aim Fire" Lacuna Coil -- "Our Truth" To check out the videos for these four songs, head past the break.%Gallery-23491%

Fret no more, for there is new reason to hold onto thy fret! Activision has announced that five new downloadable track packs for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will be made available in the month of June. The first pack, a trio of songs from British band Motörhead, is already available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and should follow on the PlayStation Network later today. The only other release announced thus far is the Isle of Wight pack. The Isle of Wight is not, you'll note, a band, but a music festival held in 2007. Three of its "most memorable performances" have been converted into colorful note charts, with Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs and The Sex Pistols providing the music. So, in summary:Motörhead Track Pack (5 June / 500 MS Points / $6.25) "(We Are) The Road Crew" "Stay Clean" "Motörhead" Isle of Wight Track Pack (12 June / Price unconfirmed, but likely to be same as above) "Shoot the Runner" by Kasabian "I Predict a Riot" by Kaiser Chiefs "Problems" by The Sex Pistols

After releasing Europe's first HD DVD -- the HDi enhanced Elephant's Dream -- Imagion AG is again breaking new ground with the first music HD DVD (and first European HD DVD) to include online features. Due in August, Motörhead's "Stage Fright" also uses HDi for new interactive features, allowing viewers to create their own setlist from concert footage and to take "snapshots" of the concert and create personal picture gallery in their HD DVD player's storage. Fans can hook their HD DVD player to the internet to download news, tour dates, pictures and artwork that will update the disc's menus. We may not be die-hard followers of "the dirtiest heavy metal band in the world" yet, but with this kind of release look for our tattoos to join the gallery soon. Check after the break for screen shots.
