The 2019 Acura NSX is a supercar built for everyday auto nerds
By law, I have to mention the 1990 Acura NSX before telling you about the 2019 NSX. It was a big deal -- supercars were supposed to be from Europe, not Japan. The NSX changed that with an outstanding vehicle that caught everyone's attention. People adored it, then Acura stopped it.
Acura's Precision Cockpit fuses AI and Android in your auto
Digital dials are great and all, but why not turn things up a notch? That's exactly what Acura is doing with its Precision Cockpit, unveiled at the LA Auto Show today. More than just an in-car infotainment system, the concept includes cabin elements borrowed from the NSX (such as the seats and the steering wheel), which show us just how future Acura motors will look and feel inside, along with how we'll interact with them. Acura's calling it a "choreographed in-car experience" (of course) and it appears that experience includes some clever technology.
Acura built an electric NSX to tackle Pikes Peak
Acura's eagerly anticipated next-gen NSX is finally going into production for 2017, but the car will hit the road before then -- sort of. The company will race a highly modified version at the Pikes Peak hill climb event on June 26th. However, unlike the (mostly) gas-powered consumer model, The "EV Concept" race vehicle will be powered by four electric motors, one on each wheel. That means it looks roughly the same as a production NSX (other than the scoop and wing), but the custom EV drive train is completely different and built for racing.
Honda teases upcoming NSX with Concept-GT hybrid race car
Honda's got a lot riding on the upcoming 2015 NSX hybrid (which will be sold in the US as an Acura). When it launched in 1990, the iconic first generation NSX took the sports car market by storm with an impressive (and affordable) combination of performance, comfort, design and build quality. Production ended in 2005 with the company shifting its focus towards hybrids and other green vehicles. As such, Honda enthusiasts have eagerly been awaiting the NSX replacement. While the new flagship is still being developed, the company just announced the NSX Concept-GT, a hybrid race car which is designed to compete in the Japanese SUPER GT series (GT500 class). Unlike the street version, which features a mid-mounted V6 and three electric motors, the Concept-GT boasts a 2.0L turbocharged direct-injection I4 paired with a "racing hybrid system". When it launches next year, the technology-packed NSX will compete with vehicles like BMW's i8 plug-in hybrid and Lexus' LF-CC.
Acura unveils updated NSX concept, has one V6 and three electric motors (eyes-on)
Acura chose last year's NAIAS to unveil the reborn NSX, heir to an epic throne of motorsports lineage. But, it was lacking a few things -- most notably an interior. This year, Honda's superlative brand is showing off a new generation of concept for the car that is still, sadly, at least two years away from production. As before it's powered by the company's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, a system that's spun most forcefully by a mid-mounted V6, helped by three electric motors. One is mounted to the V6 to provide a hybrid setup, the other two slung between the front wheels to give those tires up front little spin when needed. The new interior is a typically focused experience, full of leather and carbon fiber. It looks perfectly ready for production, but we're told it's just one potential design from a few they're toying with. No word on how much Acura's return to the supercar world might cost when it goes into production, but we're just glad to see this on a definite path to availability.

We also saw 200 Chinese works construct a 30 story prefab building in just 15 days, and we watched superman fly across a cute animated LEGO TV. Finally, we brought you the latest and greatest developments in wearable technology - including a set of smart sunglasses that merge virtual information with the real world, a set of bone-conducting earphones, and a set of motorized skates that can be attached to any boring old pair of shoes.
