For those attending New York Comic Con, which takes place February 6-8th, know that the event will not be without a significant Gears of War 2 presence -- Cliff Bleszinski not included.Dom Santiago voice actor Carlos Ferro, writer Joshua Ortega, writer/consultant Eric Nylund and DC/Wildstorm's Ben Abernathy will all be on hand throughout the weekend, signing autographs, schmoozing it up and hosting a special Saturday Gears 2 panel. If you're all about collectibles, NECA will be showing off the third Gears action figure series, including the too-cool 12" Marcus Fenix light-up figure. Feel free to dress up as your favorite COG / Locust character and be sure to take plenty of pictures with the celebrity Gears crew. We're almost positive they'd love to see your enthusiasm expressed through a homemade costume.

If you're in the New York area between February 6 - 8, we are now officially jealous of you, for something other than the fact that you live in New York. Sega USA's blog informs us that House of the Dead: Overkill, Sonic and the Black Knight, MadWorld, and The Conduit will all be playable at the 2009 New York Comic-Con, which in our opinion makes the $30 fee for a Friday or Sunday ticket (or even the $40 for a Saturday pass) totally palatable. Alternatively, if you fancy being the jerk who hogs the Wii booths for a full three days, you can pony up $50 for the entire event.%Gallery-22964%[Via IGN]

No longer content with their fans in Seattle, Penny Arcade's Mike "Gabe" Krahulik and Jerry "Tycho" Holkins are heading to the East Coast where all the really cool nerds hang out. PAX East is still quite a ways off, but there will be another opportunity to meet the webcomic duo in 2009: at NY Comic Con.New York Comic Con will take place from February 6-8 next year and promises an expanded focus on gaming, with companies such as 2K Games, Activision, Codemasters, EA, Epic, Konami and Ubisoft all participating in the show's festivities. The convention is being planned by Reed Exhibitions, the same folks that are also handling PAX East. Conspiracy? Perhaps. But don't think too hard -- do you really want to mess with these guys?

We know Sony PlayStation fanboys/fangirls are the most hardcore followers out of all the console factions. So, when we caught whiff that MTV is looking for a real-life, honest-to-God, genuine, pure-bred "fanboy," well we thought that someone in the crowd of our readers could be -- dare we say it -- that ultimate fanboy (or girl) they're looking for. The New York Comic Con 2009 is working closely with MTV to find that special someone to do a segment for the network's True Life television documentary series. Those of you looking at joining the casting call must be aged 16-28 and identify with: cosplaying, waiting at midnight launches, getting gaming-related tattoos and/or others. Check out the sign-up sheet here for more details.[via press release]

Though it's hard to imagine anything more exciting than obtaining The Hulk's autograph or shaking hands with Iron Man (watch out for that palm beam!), this month's New York Comic Con will also give attendees a glimpse of upcoming testosterone-fueled chainsaw epic, Gears of War 2. The convention will host a special "preview" of the Xbox 360 shooter on Sunday, April 20th, delivered courtesy of Michael Capps, president of Epic Games and Joshua Ortega, a man described as a "writer" for Gears of War 2. Must be some in-joke we don't get.The New York Comic Con will take place from April 18th to April 20th at the Jacob Javits Center. In New York.
