The Secret World's Big Trouble in the Big Apple raid is now live
Eldritch horrors are on the rise in The Secret World's latest update, Issue #4: Big Trouble in the Big Apple, which went live last week. And as of today, the issue's biggest draw and the game's very first raid, has hit the servers. The raid takes place in the heart of New York City, where a tentacled Lovecraftian creature is wreaking havoc on the city that never sleeps. The raid had initially been delayed because of bugs and a need for further testing but is now available. Massively posted a preview of the raid and the rest of the patch last week. The Secret World's NYC raid opens November 21st
When Funcom sprung the news about The Secret World's fourth monthly update going live (giving players less than a day's notice!), the studio said that one piece of the patch would be missing. Due to bugs, Big Trouble in the Big Apple's New York City raid needed a bit more time before it was ready. Now, one week later, the content is hitting the live servers. And again, the devs are giving short notice: Tomorrow, November 21st at 7:00 a.m. EST, the servers will be offline for the patch. After an expected three-hour downtime, folks will be able to log in and throw themselves at the game's first-ever raid experience. So grab your friends and get ready! Despite the tough times endured by the title over the summer and after the subsequent Funcom layoffs, all signs point to growth for the game and its dedicated players going forward. The Secret World's NYC raid, Tokyo playfield previewed
We've known about The Secret World's upcoming New York raid for a while now, but details have been rather scarce. Rock, Paper Shotgun recently got a preview of the new content and came away impressed, claiming that "the raid and an entirely new play area will close act one of the story, with plenty of answers and a host of new questions." In addition to the Big Apple, players will get to check out portions of Tokyo, which originally appeared in the game's brief tutorial sequence. This time around, there's a larger playfield to explore, with the mysterious Orochi headquarters as its centerpiece. All this comes after the game's second major content update, which is currently scheduled for a September 11th release.
