Not to be left out, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Netronix/">Netronix</a> is reportedly also looking to work with Texas Instruments on assimilating Android into its product line, according to company chairman Arthur Lu (via <em>DigiTimes</em>). Neither are bad trends to follow in this still-infant industry, but the questions remains as to when and how it'll actually work. Also on the company to-do list? 3G and 3.5G capabilities, supposedly coming sometime in the middle of 2010. Bated breath? Hold it.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/29/netronix-looking-to-android-3g-for-its-e-book-readers/">Netronix looking to Android, 3G for its e-book readers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 29 Nov 2009 18:54:00 EST. Hardly anyone this side of Asia has heard of 'em, and with outfits like <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/26/amazon-kindle-2-review/">Amazon</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/25/sony-announces-daily-edition-reader/">Sony</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/27/hearst-to-launch-wireless-e-reader-potentially-revolutionize-pr/">Hearst</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/07/asus-planning-dual-screen-eee-reader-worlds-cheapest-e-book-re/">ASUS</a> doing their darnedest to corner to rapidly expanding e-reader market, you know it has an uphill climb just to get some respect. That said, we're somewhat intrigued by what's on deck for Q1 2010; just a few months after its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/05/netronix-eb-600-and-eb-500-e-readers-spotted-at-computex/">EB-600 and EB-500</a> readers were spotted at Computex, the company itself has confessed to having an expansive EB900 in the works. As with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/19/kindle-dx-review/">Kindle DX</a>, this bugger is destined to boast a 9.7-inch e-ink display, and you'll also find a 600MHz processor, WinCE 6.0-based operating system, touch support, a handwriting mode, built-in WiFi / Bluetooth / 3G WWAN and a USB socket for connecting to one's PC. The minuscule snapshot you see there to the right is all we've got to go by as far as images are concerned, but you can rest assured we'll be keeping an ear to the ground for more.<br /><br />[Thanks, Tom]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/08/netronix-sneaking-9-7-inch-display-hopes-and-dreams-into-forthc/">Netronix sneaking 9.7-inch display, hopes and dreams into forthcoming EB900 e-reader</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 08 Sep 2009 07:12:00 EST. We can't say they look a whole heck of a lot different than the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/11/netronix-unveils-6-inch-eb-100-and-9-7-inch-eb-300-e-books/">EB-300 and EB-100</a>, but Netronix's EB-600 and EB-500 are still a push in the right direction. Seen at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Computex/">Computex</a>, these e-readers pack a battery good for 8,000 page turns as well as a 6-inch (EB-600) / 5-inch (EB-500) e-ink display. We were even told that the EB-500 may end up with a slide-out keyboard, but as of now, all we can do is sit Indian style, meditate on the hands-on shots down in the read link and dream of what may some day be.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/05/netronix-eb-600-and-eb-500-e-readers-spotted-at-computex/">Netronix EB-600 and EB-500 e-readers spotted at Computex</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 05 Jun 2009 13:29:00 EST. Ah, the lovely world of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/01/iriver-japan-looking-to-brand-its-own-e-reader/">rebadged e-readers</a>. If you'll recall, we saw a nice trio of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/14/astak-mentor-e-book-reader-comes-in-at-under-200/">Astak Mentor</a> e-book readers way back in May of last year, and now we're seeing a smaller, more curvaceous version pictured alongside those very devices. Early assumptions were that this new 5-inch model would also belong to PocketBook, but those rumors have already been laid to rest. What we're left with is a few solid images, a Mentor label and a mind full of mystery. It's almost like reading a Danielle Steel novel, but only in the emotional sense.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43118">MobileRead</a>, thanks Nate]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/24/mentor-branded-5-inch-e-reader-surfaces-alongside-pocketbook-col/">Mentor-branded 5-inch e-reader surfaces alongside PocketBook collection</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 24 Mar 2009 09:54:00 EST. If you hadn't heard, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/16/hanlins-v9-e-book-reader-with-9-7-inch-e-ink-display-previewed/">9.7-inch e-ink displays</a> are the new hotness, and now Netronix is getting in on the action with the EB-300. Netronix is part-owned by <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/05/14/pvi-takes-over-e-ink-from-philips/">PVI</a>, a major manufacturer of e-ink displays, and they seem to be putting them to good use here. The EB-300 has a 1200 x 825, 170 dpi, 4 grayscale screen, and measures a mere 14mm (0.55-inches) thick. There's 4GB of NAND storage on board, along with 64MB of SDRAM and some SD card expansion. There's also WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity for good measure. EB-300 runs Windows CE 5.0, while little brother EB-100 runs Linux and a 6-inch 800 x 600 screen -- and loses most of the other connectivity and storage perks as well. No word on price or availability for either of these.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21808">MobileRead</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/11/netronix-unveils-6-inch-eb-100-and-9-7-inch-eb-300-e-books/">Netronix unveils 6-inch EB-100 and 9.7-inch EB-300 e-books</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 11 Mar 2008 08:22:00 EST.
