We've got ourselves a twofer this week. On the one hand we have a new version of the formerly DS exclusive (and well received) puzzle game Meteos Wars. On the other, we have a new multi-directional shooter by the name of PowerUp Forever. Find out if either one is for you by watching the latest episode of XBLA in Brief above. We also have a brand new feature this week. Below you will find the Xbox Live Marketplace links to the trial versions of each game. So, if you decide you'd like to give one of them a go on your Xbox 360, you can queue it up for download without even leaving your computer. How sweet is that? (Answer: totally flipping sweet).Download Meteos Wars trial game from Xbox Live MarketplaceDownload PowerUp Forever trial game from Xbox Live Marketplace[iTunes] Subscribe to X3F TV directly in iTunes.[Zune] Subscribe to the X3F TV directly (Zune Marketplace link coming soon).[RSS] Add the X3F TV feed to your RSS aggregator and have the show delivered automatically.[M4V] Download the M4V directly.

Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday is upon us, and that means it's time for some new games. This week, we're treated to the Q? Entertainment puzzler Meteos Wars and multi-directional shooter PowerUp Forever from Namco Bandai. The former has made a long journey all the way from the Nintendo DS and the latter ... has power-ups. Should you desire, you can pick them both up for 800 Microsoft Points. These are the only new releases on the Xbox 360 this week, so if you just have to have a new game, they're your only choice.Download Meteos Wars trial game from Xbox Live MarketplaceDownload PowerUp Forever trial game from Xbox Live Marketplace Gallery: Meteos (XBLA)

  • This Wednesday: Meteos Wars will PowerUp Forever on XBLA

Namco-Bandai's latest XBLA release asks that you not power up for a bit, or even for a decent amount of time, but forever. That sounds like quite a time investment, but at least you should get a good gameplay return on your 800 ($10) investment in PowerUp Forever (shown). It's a shooter with randomly generated levels, from the folks (Blitz Games) that brought the world ... Sneak King.As we posted earlier today – and Microsoft has now confirmed – this Wednesday's second Live Arcade newcomer will be Q Entertainment's fab-o puzzler, Meteos Wars. Well, it was neat on the DS using stylus control; how exactly it will translate to a boring ol' console controller remains to be seen. But that's why there are trial versions, right? Upgrading to the full version of the game will cost you 800 ($10).Source: Gamerscore Blog: Meteos WarsSource: Gamerscore Blog: PowerUp Forever%Gallery-20735%%Gallery-30632%

Looks like the rumor was true, as both Meteos Wars and PowerUp Forever are officially heading to Xbox Live Arcade this week. Meteos Wars is an XBLA version of the Q Entertainment puzzler title with expanded multiplayer (including Xbox Live play), while PowerUp Forever is a shooter from Blitz (the folks behind SpongeBob Squarepants Underpants Slam) and published by Namco Bandai. PowerUp Forever features procedurally generated environments, a unique "growth mechanic" (whatever that is) and, get this, power-ups.Both PowerUp Forever and Meteos Wars will be available this Wednesday for 800 points each. • Rumor: Meteos Wars and PowerUP Forever XBLA bound next week

In Xbox Live Arcade news that exists in the grey area between rumor and factual information, word on the interwebs is that Q Entertainment's Meteos Wars and Namco's PowerUP Forever will be headed to the XBLA next Wednesday, December 10th. The news actually comes from the official developer / publisher websites, including Namco's official PowerUP Forever page and Q's newly launched Meteos Wars website. The only reason we're slapping a rumor on these games' rather official release dates is the fact that Microsoft has been known to make last minute XBLA release switcheroos. In our eyes, until we hear XBLA release dates from Microsoft, they aren't official.[Thanks, sacra]Source - Meteos WarsSource - PowerUP Forever

Click for high-resolution image. Hope you're not tired of shooting things in space, because Namco Bandai is brining yet another space shooter to the PSN th is summer. PowerUp Forever will have you go against an entire armada of evil enemies across the vast emptiness of space. Absorb enemy energy, and you'll be able to transfor your ship's size, shape and power. As you get larger and larger, smaller enemies will become inconsequential, and your eyes will see enemies once too large to even comprehend. It's like Katamari Damacy, but with guns. In space.(Note: And for those that are confused, the XBLA remake of Soulcalibur is NOT coming to PSN.)%Gallery-20761%

  • Space shooter 'PowerUp Forever' coming to XBLA, PSN this Summer [Update]

Namco Bandai has promised "high-octane, shooting action" -- which we can all agree is the best kind of shooting action -- in this Summer's release of Infinitum PowerUp Forever for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The top-down shooter hopes to stand out in the bustling crowd thanks to its "endless spatial battlefield." As you destroy enemies and absorb their energy, your ship increases in size and power, slowly turning you into an interstellar Godzilla of sorts. However, as previous enemies shrink, bigger threats "that were previously too large to see" will take their place. So ... Katamari Damacy with spaceships, then?(Note: Another Namco Bandai press release we received described this same game, but labeled it "PowerUp Forever." We've asked the publisher to clear up the confusion -- and pleaded with it to stick with "Infinitum.")(Update: Well, that didn't work. PowerUp Forever it is.)%Gallery-20735%[Via X3F]
