Today, the developer announced that Control: Ultimate Edition will be available digitally on next-gen hardware from February 2nd, 2021. Remedy is preparing an 'Ultimate' version of Control that includes the frankly-brilliant main game, post-launch patches and season pass expansions. The $40 package will be available on Steam -- meaning the title is no longer an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC -- PS4 and Xbox One. "The free upgrade path to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 version of Control is only available for Control Ultimate Edition," publisher 505 Games confirmed in a blog post.

Remedy’s next big Control expansion is coming out on August 27th, and the developer has released a trailer to give you a glimpse of what you can expect. In the expansion, Control’s protagonist Jesse Faden has to go after a mysterious being that’s been haunting the sealed Investigations Sector — the sector where the Federal Bureau of Control used to investigate AWE cases from until things went awry. To defeat the being, Faden has to explore those AWE cases, including one from the town of Bright Falls where Remedy’s older Alan Wake games for Windows and Xbox are set.

If you've completed Remedy's award-winning Control, fear not: more content is on the way. The Finnish game developer has dropped a 20-second teaser for The Foundation, a paid update to its trippy third-person shooter that revolves around Jesse, some possessed enemies called the Hiss, and a forever-creepy building called the Oldest House. At the end, a title card reveals the all-important release date: March 26th. We know very little about the upcoming DLC, other than what Remedy published in a brief blog post six months ago: "At the request of the ever-mysterious Board, Jesse must explore what lies beneath the Bureau as she returns order to the Foundation and the Oldest House itself." Intrigued? So are we.

Remedy Entertainment's Control quickly found a fanbase thanks in part to its strikingly eerie design. One of the most-requested features from players is a photo mode to help them capture the Oldest House's shifting Brutalist architecture in their own way. They won't have to wait too much longer for it, as the feature will arrive October 16th. Remedy previously said it'd be available in the fall.

Remedy's game worlds might collide in a very conspicuous way. The studio has shared a roadmap for Control's downloadable content through 2020, and a second paid expansion (AWE) due in mid-2020 hints at a not-so-subtle crossover between Jesse's adventures and those of Alan Wake. Officially, the company has only said the DLC will have Jesse exploring a new Investigations Sector of the Oldest House that explores Altered World Events (hence the title), but there are multiple hints of a connection. Be careful: spoilers are ahead.

Alan Wake might make its way to PS4 or Switch (or even mobile) after developer Remedy Entertainment snagged back the publishing rights to the 2010 cult classic from Microsoft. It told investors it would earn royalty payments of about 2.5 million euros this year for its previously released games, and, in a related move, it regained the rights to Alan Wake.
