Microsoft has announced that Scene It! Box Office Smash will be hitting retail on October 28, which will likely serve as a saving grace for the Joystiq staffers who had no idea what else to do for Halloween. The game will cost $40 by itself or $60 in a bundle with four Big Button pad controllers. Truth be told, we had a lot of fun with the first game, Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action! And any game that draws sketches of construction workers playing with dolls meets our approval. Also of note, Box Office Smash! is being touted as "the first game to debut with the New Xbox Experience's player Avatars," which can be used as your in-game character. We don't think this is an indication that the New Xbox Experience is coming out this month, as there are likely placeholders available, but it certainly raises an eyeybrow.%Gallery-33895%

  • Scene It demo on Xbox Live

Got the family or friends around? Then go test the Scene It demo now on Xbox Live. Sure, you won't get the fancy big controllers that come with the game (pictured), but it's a good chance to see if it'll be worth picking up this holiday season. The only thing it says in the Xbox Marketplace description currently is "sell," but if the full game is anything like the demo they'll have no problems doing that. Scene It can either be family friendly fare or diabolic drinking game. The full Scene It is expected Nov. 6 and will retail for $60, which includes the four big button controllers. There is currently no other announced use in the future for these controllers beyond Scene It and its guaranteed XBM expansion packs. We're just going to go ahead and say it again: We want XBLA You Don't Know Jack![Thanks Squeedom]

Searching through the deep, dark, dusty and ... drab'ish corners of Xbox.com, Morgon from MyGamerCard.net uncovered a list of all 42 Scene It? achievements. The list of Scene It? achievements (which are all viewable after the jump) is mostly made up of very elementary tasks like answering questions from specific categories, answering "X" amount of questions correctly, etc., etc. So, the game's achievements may not be all that exciting or original, but darn it, the game has a big button controller and we like controllers with big buttons. Any questions? Good. Scene It? achievement list after the jump.[Thanks, Morgon]

  • Your 360 has been updated and you won't care

No, it's not the fall update (it won't be fall until Sunday), but those who turn on your 360s will find that the system has been updated. So, if it's not the biggie, what is it? Well, you may want to sit down. Ready? Your 360 is now compatible with the Big Button Pad that works with Scene It! Have you caught your breath and wrestled it to the ground yet? Have you reduced your heart rate so that it's within the normal parameters for human life? Good, then we can continue....Actually, we don't really have anything else to say. Hold on, let us check. Not the fall update. Big Button. Yep, we hit everything.[Via X3F]

  • 360 update today: nothing to see here, move along

Major Nelson has informed us that a 360 system update is being released today. He also -- somewhat depressingly -- informs us that today's update is not the Fall Update. Actually, that seems rather fitting as, unless we are mistaken, it is not yet fall. So, what in the world does this magical update do? Quite simple really, it adds support for the spiffy new controller that comes with Scene-It. The controller with the giant, candy colored button, remember? Yeah, that one. Anywho, the update is being rolled out now so that the Microsoft ninjas have a chance to test out the device on retail Xboxen. You know, to see if they explode or something. So, don't panic -- and don't get excited either -- when you're prompted to download the update the next time you log into live.

Stepping into Microsoft's "Social Fun" suite at the truck defying Viceroy Hotel, we got a chance to lay our hands on the recently announced 360 version of Scene It along with its kooky candy colored controllers. As you can see, the controllers are fairly small. They are very light, run on two AA batteries, and come in four oh so fashionable colors. All of the standard face buttons are topped with a huge button that also serves as a D-pad. The button, as you might expect, serves as the game's buzzer. The A, B, X, and Y buttons are used for selecting answers. We settled in to play a quick game and test our movie trivia knowledge.

  • 360 gets Scene-It, new simple controller

While many X3F readers wail at the thought of the Xbox 360 receiving more casual, Wii-inspired games, there can be no doubt that there is a ton of money to be made in the casual market. This fact has been made abundantly clear by the success of the Wii and DS. Microsoft evidently has taken notice, and announced during its E3 press conference that an Xbox 360 version of the movie trivia game, Scene-It is in the works. In addition to featuring new interactive features, more puzzles, clips, and questions, the Xbox 360 version will also include a new controller. The controller design is (shockingly) very, very simple. It resembles a buzzer with a large colored button at the top and the four standard 360 buttons aligned vertically underneath. The concept, obviously, is that a player would "buzz in" by pressing the large button and then select and answer with A, B, X, or Y. Also revealed, the game will include four of these controllers while maintaining the standard retail price of most 360 titles. Whether or not these unique controllers will be utilized outside of Scene-It remains to be, um, seen.

  • Microsoft shows off new Xbox 360 controller for casual gamers

While Microsoft's E3 announcement of "Scene It?" for the Xbox 360 wasn't exactly awe inspiring, there are some brand new casual gaming controllers packed with the title that certainly perked us up. Details are slim at the moment, but four of the simplistic clickers will be included with the game. This could be Microsoft's Trojan Horse to battle against Wii's stranglehold on the casual gaming market -- particularly if the remotes include motion sensing within, which hasn't even been hinted at yet -- or could just be a nice freebie to make "Scene It?" a bit more accessible. We figure we'll know more soon enough. There's another pic after the break.

In yet another attempt to capture the casual games market, Microsoft has announced an Xbox Live version of the popular movie DVD game, Scene It. The Xbox 360 version of the movie trivia game will include four ridiculously-designed controllers for use with the game: it looks akin to a "hideously mutated" remote with a much-too-large red button for play -- all at the same cost as a typical retail game. Considering the popularity of other casual titles on the system, such as Uno, the game will most likely harness an audience of hardcore movie buffs.
