Well, this pleases me like punch: One Shots' very first Shroud of the Avatar screenshot submission! I recall thinking that this indie MMO looked so much better than I previously thought when I got my hands on it last August, so I'm glad to see Massively readers going on a photo safari in it. Reader JohnD is responsible for this unusual sight: "Here is a shot of Johanis Lolar, who is busy adventuring. I'm not sure his Santa cap helps him blend, but he's doing his best." I always like to assume that Santa spends his off-season lurking in weeds and ambushing stray travelers with presents, so this picture plays into that fantasy. What? I'm normal; my parents had me tested.

Defender Illona and I were making our usual rounds in my garrison, and when we stopped to smell (and pick) the proverbial roses, one of the ever-present thorns paid us a visit," writes submitter Paladave of Clan Wilkes on Garona (US-A). "Having been denied its pound of flesh, the ankle-biter was not content to merely die and give up its flowery innards. No, these little monstrosities are content with nothing less than poisoning the wells." Want to see your own screenshot here? Send it to aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com. • World of Warcraft adds selfie support

Were you afraid that with the addition of Twitter support in the next World of Warcraft patch you would be deprived of the joy that is taking selfies in-game? Worry no longer. The addition of the S.E.L.F.I.E. camera in patch 6.1 ensures that you can indeed log in, find a nice view, and then duckface at the camera before shooting off a character picture for all of your devoted followers. It's the best thing in the expansion so far. Grabbing the item requires nothing more than a rare follower mission with no significant bells or whistles, with another upgrade mission available to pick up a set of various filters for the camera. Our sister site has a guide to making use of the new device, along with the requisite speculation that it will tie more directly into the Twitter integration. That feature isn't currently enabled, but it can't be coincidence that the new camera arrived at the same time, can it?

Today's submitter writes, "My gnomish warrior Pie was perusing the various transmog gear vendors when suddenly a strange sensation came over her ... a chill that crawled up her spine like a malfunctioning clockwork gnome hopped up on too much Deeprock Salt. Cautiously she turned around, expecting trouble, and instead she found a tiny death knight, comparing the fluffiness their pigtails. Naturally, Pie won." Want to see your own screenshot here? "They said, 'Silly Thunk, you no can fly. Ogron no have wings.' Thunk know better. Thunk up in clouds where he belongs with windrocs. Now only thing Thunk not figured out; how to get down?" • Patch 6.1: Finally, you can take a S.E.L.F.I.E.

I honestly didn't know how much I needed this particular item until I finally managed to snag one on the PTR. Behold, patch 6.1 is bringing us the S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera, a marvelous device that finally lets us egomaniacs turn our cameras on the one person in game we care about the most -- ourselves. The camera is a reward from a new, rare level 100 garrison mission called Field Photography -- a four hour mission that requires no special traits to complete. Simply get the mission to show up on your list and the camera is pretty much yours. The interface for the camera is really easy to use -- simply click the item to use it, and your camera will automatically turn around to face you. You can swivel the angle to whatever you feel is most pleasing, and press 1 to snap a photo. No need to alt-z the frame out of the picture first, the camera automatically does it for you, snapping the screenshot and putting it in your screenshots folder. As the camera faces your character, they'll make a host of suitably emotive faces, so you don't have to worry about smiling for the camera.

Believe it or not, I have been listening to you guys in the comments, and I know that there's been an ongoing desire for One Shots to provide the full-size pictures that are otherwise shrunk by our size limitations. So I'm happy to announce that starting this week, I'm including a gallery at the end of the column that will allow you to pull up larger screenshots if so desired. A few weeks ago I issued a screenshot challenge for folks to send in a haiku poem in addition to their picture. A select few of you did, starting with this striking pose from Final Fantasy XIV by reader Wolfyseyes: Facing this challenge One thought repeats in my mind: Please, please, please don't suck

"So while wandering around Shadowmoon Valley and getting in fights to test out my wide-range of dwarves taunts and insults in SpeakinSpell (and probably traumatizing a whole generation of players to boot) I stumbled across an odd gathering of draenei on the shore," writes submitter Arugadh of The Brotherhood of Iron on Wyrmrest Accord (US-A). "Three small girls and their fathers were gathered around a skeleton that they'd unearthed on the beach. At least, I think they unearthed it. Judging from the expression on that one child's face as she turned and looked at me ... well, I'm not ashamed to say that I scrambled back onto my golden charger and hightailed it out of there before they decided to unearth my skeleton right out of my flesh." Submitter Angmazensos of The Chaos League on Dreadmaul (US-H) was in the midst of a Temple of Kotmogu run when a sudden and severe lag attack gave him some free time to take screenshots. This close-up of a human hunter's utterly impractical bow. How does the arrow not get caught on any of those spikes? If Hawkeye or Katniss Everdeen saw a bow with that much ridiculous ornamentation, they would laugh their butts off. Except Katniss, who I'm not sure knows how to laugh. • Crowfall teases fealty system, ad/disad mechanics

Upcoming MMO Crowfall is rolling out new teases this week, including some concept art of guild banners and a screenshot of character creation, which suggests an advantage/disadvantage system no doubt intended to tug the heartstrings of former Shadowbane players. But what has our attention is the newly unveiled fealty chart, which definitely whisks Shadowbane or Asheron's Call immediately to mind. "This isn't a guild org chart," Crowfall's J. Todd Coleman cautions. "We support guilds (and guild structures) but we've laid a different system on top of that, which ties player fealty directly to land ownership. More on that system, and how it ties to siege conquest, will be coming soon." Coleman promises "a more substantial update coming later this week." We've included all three images below.

Submitter and rare tauren priest Cowthlic came off somewhat the worse from his first encounter with Imperator Mar'gok in Highmaul. This is why one generally brings an entire raid to top-level content rather than just doing it solo. Although I definitely sympathize with the desire not to interact with most of humanity. Trade chat has shown me that, as Liz Lemon once said, "All God's children are terrible." Want to see your own screenshot here? Send it to aroundazeroth@wowinsider.com. You guys! Even though Christmas is well and over, you're still sending me wonderful screenshot presents! I'm blushing. I don't even know what to say other than, "You rock! Also, no butt pictures!" Our first non-posterior shot is from reader Jake, who braved the heart of a volcano for this vista: "Here's a picture of my Dracolyte in Trove after having finished a really cool dungeon that took me down into the depths of a volcano. After a while, you start to see similar dungeon types repeated, but this was a new one for me. I kept expecting to see a conflicted hobbit contemplating a ring as I descended the volcano, but alas, nothing but lava beetles and an ember dragon." What will we find when we descend into the rest of our player-submitted screenshots for this week? Hopefully more than lava beetles!

We started with old Molten Core and, thanks to strategically placed alts, ended at Tempest Keep. We ran the raids in the order you would have received gear upgrades. When we got to TK, someone pulled out their Ancient's Bloom. Then another and another and another showed up. Best attack force ever. Kael'thas was not impressed. Mario Party 10 will launch on March 20, Nintendo revealed today. The publisher showed off the new "amiibo Party Mode" for the game during its Nintendo Direct presentation this morning, adding compatibility for Super Smash Bros. and Super Mario series figures. Nintendo noted that the mode requires at least one amiibo, though other players can link their own figures to the game to use their respective characters as game pieces and access game boards inspired by the characters. Nintendo also announced that a limited edition version of Mario Party 10 will arrive on Wii U that same day, packing in a Mario amiibo figure with the party game. The game's latest trailer shows off both the amiibo Party Mode and the game's Bowser Party mode. [Image: Nintendo]

    01.14.2015

The last pre-expansion patch for Final Fantasy XIV is going to be a big one. So big, in fact, that the game is dropping 12 hours of maintenance for the first part. Servers will go down at 6:00 p.m. EST on January 19th before coming back online at 6:00 a.m. EST on January 20th. As always, exact completion time is subject to change. If you missed yesterday's trailer, you can get an idea of some of the fuss by checking out today's dungeon preview, which shows off the Keeper of the Lake, Amdapor Keep (Hard), Wanderer's Palace (Hard), and the World of Darkness. While the exact item level requirements for these dungeons are hidden, it is clear that the Keeper of the Lake will once again be part of the main scenario quests like Snowcloak was in patch 2.4. So get ready to fight a dragon corpse, slaughter various voidsent, and most importantly rescue a whole lot of far-less-rancorous Tonberries.
