It seemed just about everyone was talking about To All The Boys I've Loved Before when Netflix released its highly enjoyable adaptation of Jenny Han's teen romance novel almost a year ago. Netflix said last October it was "one of our most-viewed original films ever with strong repeat viewing" and it greenlit a sequel that December. Just in time for Valentine's Day, To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You will hit Netflix on February 12th.

The classic point-and-click adventure game Day of the Tentacle was released a hair over 25 years ago, so fans have been waiting a long time for a follow-up. With little sign of Double Fine releasing another entry in the series, some fans have taken the initiative to create their own, unofficial sequel. It's called Return of the Tentacle and you can download it right now for Windows, Mac and Linux. Best of all, the game is available for the low, low price of zero dollars.

1984 marked the year that James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton became superstars with The Terminator. Thirty-three years later, all three of them are back for more in a sequel that Cameron has said will take place directly afterTerminator 2: Judgement Day, skipping all the sequels that have come out since then. The untitled sequel, with Deadpool's Tim Miller as director, is part of a planned trilogy and a July 26th, 2019 release.

The follow-up to hit survival-horror game Outlast is coming to PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 on April 25. Outlast 2 will attempt to raise the creep factor with more genre-defining "WTF" moments than were possible in the first game, due to budgetary restrictions.

As the sun sets on Bungie's shooter MMO Destiny, its fans look ahead to a new dawn, when the old game hands its reign (and playerbase) over to its sequel coming sometime this year, currently called Destiny 2. Unfortunately, its loyal constituency had a bit of a rude awakening this morning when Bungie announced that every player character would be reset going into the new game. That's right, folks: All your Gjallarhorns, No Land Beyonds and skill points won't be coming along for the ride.

It's taken more than a decade, but GTR 2, the game rightly lauded as one of the best racing sims ever, is getting a sequel. The game's existence was announced via the Race Department forums (spotted by Eurogamer), and will launch next year for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. While GTR 2 shot for accurate simulation, though, developer SimBin Studios UK is shooting for a broader audience with GTR 3. Chris Speed, the CEO of SimBin's parent company Sector3, said the game will be a "proper simulation" but "needs to appeal to both sides" to succeed on consoles. Speed pointed to recent F1 games as an example of a way to appeal to the "hardcore racer" and the "casual gamer."

Yes, 'The Angry Birds Movie' will have a sequel

Rovio has had trouble recreating the success of the first Angry Birds with each successive sequel, but that isn't stopping the Finnish developer from trying the same with the movie based on its biggest franchise. The first film made $346,917,138 worldwide according to Box Office Mojo, and Wall Street Journal writes that its budget was only $73 million. So, of course, optioning a sequel makes a lot of sense. There aren't any details beyond Rovio CEO Katie Levoranta saying that pre-production is under way, though. Will Jason Sudekis and Peter Dinklage reprise their roles? That's up in the air, but last we saw him, he was busy helping a certain Mother of Dragons.

Kan Gao's life changed remarkably in 2011. That's the year his studio, Freebird Games, released To the Moon, a tender role-playing game about two doctors who travel through a dying man's memories to grant him a final wish. To the Moon launched quietly, but it had a resounding impact on the gaming industry -- it won a nomination at the 2012 Independent Games Festival and picked up other awards, including the headlining spot on my own "Best of 2011" lineup. Last year, To the Moon even showed up on a list of Engadget readers' favorite video game soundtracks. To the Moon's success has allowed Gao to focus on developing original games full-time. Still, it's taken five years to officially reveal his next project, a To the Moon sequel called Finding Paradise that's due to hit PC, Mac and Linux in late 2016 or early 2017.

Outlast was one of the most horrifying games of 2013 -- and perhaps of all time. Our review called it a "perfect nightmare" of gore, mental strain and tense sound design, and the Whistleblower DLC, which followed in 2014, was similarly heart-pounding. Just two days before Halloween 2015, independent studio Red Barrels has unveiled Outlast 2, due next fall for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. Details are scarce, but we know that this sequel will be a brand-new beast. "The game will be a survival-horror experience and it will take place in the same universe as Outlast, but it will have different characters and a different setting," Red Barrels co-founder Philippe Morin outlined in October 2014. A brief teaser trailer released today suggests Outlast 2 will continue the franchise's theme of haunting religious imagery.

Angry Birds revolutionized the mobile gaming market after its launch in 2009, and developer Rovio has since released numerous off-shoots, follow-up games and bits of retail merchandise, plus it's working on an animated film due in theaters next April, starring Peter Dinklage and Maya Rudolph. Now, six years and 3 billion series downloads later, Angry Birds 2 is officially on its way. The sequel is due to hit app stores worldwide on July 30th and, yes, it seems the game will still feature exploding crates, a bunch of pigs and some deeply upset birds.

Need more good news after today's net neutrality ruling? Deadline and Variety report it has been confirmed that Harrison Ford will return to the role of Rick Deckard in the Blade Runner sequel that's currently in the works. Ridley Scott is producing the film, Hampton Fancher (co-writer of the original movie) and Michael Green are writing, and Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) is in negotiations to direct. The movie is supposed to start shooting next summer, with a script that already garnered high praise from Ford and is said to take place several decades after the original. As an added bonus, that gives him plenty of time to recover from any Star Wars-related injuries and us an opportunity to check out Amazon's upcoming (and also based on a Philip K. Dick story) The Man in the High Castle series. [Image credit: Getty Images]

  • Destiny's 10-year plan includes character-hopping to sequels

The strange approach of Destiny that has the game with one foot squarly planted in MMO territory and one firmly in the realm of standard console shooters has never been illustrated as strongly as in this story from IGN. In the interview, Bungie said that players will be able to save and import characters and progress between Destiny and a proposed sequel while ignoring how MMOs simply build upon game worlds so that importing isn't necessary. One of the devs even expressed the revelation that players tend to form attachments to their avatars: "If you take a look at the way people have played other games for a long period of time, they've had a relationship with the same character for a very long time." Bungie said it has "a 10-year plan for the expansion and evolution of this franchise."

  • HTC already planning a sequel to its oddball RE camera

There will be a follow-up to HTC's periscope-cum-asthma-inhaler RE action camera, according to a report from Focus Taiwan. North Asia president Jack Tong told the publication it would launch a new standalone model next year, in order to expand its roster of products in light of slowing smartphone sales. The current RE (which has only been on sale in the US for a month) shoots 16-megapixel stills and full HD video, and is intended to be used with a smartphone due to the lack of a screen. It is possible to record stills and video without one, however, thanks to a built-in microSD card slot. HTC has high hopes for the RE, though it hasn't revealed sales figures yet for the nifty, but pricy $200 camera. The original is set to go on sale in Taiwan tomorrow.

MapleStory 2 looks pretty different from its predecessor, but it still has its heart in the right place. You can see some of that on display in the game's latest trailer, released as part of the G-Star 2014 festivities going on right now in South Korea. The are ducklings to ride, walls to climb, and boss monsters for huge numbers of players to desperately thwack at until they die. Nature of the beast and all. The game's next beta test has also been confirmed for January of next year, although it will not be a global test at this time. This new test will include 32 new areas for players to explore, more classes to play, and a new Shadow World with open PvP. More player customization and creation options will be unlocked as well. While you might not be able to participate in the test yourself, it'll at least help to know it's hurtling toward completion.

  • Netflix and IMAX will get 'Crouching Tiger 2' on the same day

Netflix's tight relationship with The Weinstein Company has scored another win, and the streaming service's first big movie debut -- but definitely not its last. The two revealed tonight that next year when the sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon arrives in theaters, it will also be available streaming on Netflix at the same time. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend also shares a writer, John Fusco, with another Weinstein/Netflix team-up, the Marco Polo series that's arriving next year. So far, studio efforts at sending movies home day-and-date with their theater release like this year's Snowpiercer have centered around VOD, but Netflix subscribers worldwide (the movie is being shot in English) are getting this flick at no extra cost. Back in 2011, Universal wanted to charge viewers $60 to watch Tower Heist at home instead of the theater, weeks after it debuted -- this seems like a slightly better value.

Apparently, conventional watchmakers couldn't resist the allure of smartwatches for very long. Guess Watches has just unveiled a partnership with Martian Watches to develop style-conscious, voice-guided smart wristwear. Details for the new wearables are scarce right now, but the two brands are promising hardware that doesn't just "try to mimic the smartphone" -- it has to look good on top of being functional. You'll find out more when the first Guess/Martian devices are unveiled in early 2015, but it's safe to presume that Guess will handle most of the external design, while Martian will handle the technology inside.

  • The Daily Grind: What do you think about MMO sequels?

While sequels to MMOs aren't as prevelant as they are elsewhere in the entertainment industry, we've certainly seen more than a few pop up in this genre's short lifespan. There are pros and cons to making sequels, of course, and while players always seem to clamor to have their favorite older MMOs return with a Roman numeral affixed to the name, I have to wonder if that might be a curse in disguise. Considering all of the money that it takes to make MMOs, do you think it's a good idea for studios to milk a franchise or to start fresh? And if you are all for sequels being made, which MMO do you think deserves one? Which sequel that's currently in development has your attention? Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming.
