  • Square Enix Party 'Wall of Wishes' mirrors our own

As well as being at a Square Enix press conference last week, everyone's favourite Japanese game blog (alright, maybe just my favourite), Gemaga, were at the Square Enix Party last weekend. Whilst there they took some photos of something we've dubbed the 'Wall of Wishes', where attendees to the party were asked to write down suggestions for the company on post-its. The pictures are quite fun to look at. Especially if you can read Japanese. Personally I've got a decent grip of hiragana and katakana and can spot a few saying 'Final Fantasy 7 remake!'. Though I have to say, for a nation renowned for its calligraphy, maybe some of the people who wrote these notes should take some handwriting lessons.Other notes include requests for Final Fantasy XII-2, a Xenogears remake and Final Fantasy XI expansions. We at PS3 Fanboy are curious to see what comes of this. Will Square Enix listen to what fans have been requesting for the past several years and finally remake Final Fantasy VII, as some sites have intimated? We hope so. That tech demo did look wonderful, after all ...

Game|Life's Chris Kohler got a chance to "play" with the DS Style collection at the Square Enix Party, and came away with positive impressions of the title we're most interested in: the classical music program which he translates as Would you like to listen to classical music on the Nintendo DS? The program sounds pretty interesting: it contains 100 pieces of music, a shuffle feature, and information and images related to each piece. It also gives users information about buying the music on CD. Kohler's impressions of the other titles weren't as positive, but it didn't sound like there was anything wrong with them. He just couldn't summon up the excitement for looking at maps.

We don't usually sit around wishing we lived in Japan, but sometimes there's an overriding temptation that throws everything into a tailspin ... and wouldn't you know that dastardly Square Enix is behind it. The source of our agony? That the fabulous franchise festival known as the Square Enix Party 2007 is going to go on without us. The pain. Thanks to the series of tubes that connects us with Japan, we at least have loads of video to look forward to -- and now that SE has announced a formal list of titles that will be available at the event (both playable and video-only), we're starting to get a little excited. Playable games on display include FFXII: Revenant Wings, Itadaki Street, It's a Wonderful World, and the new Crystal Chronicles for the DS. That may in fact be more Final Fantasy than we could shake a stick at. Also verified: an unknown Final Fantasy title, but we have to admit that it may be attached to those other guys. We won't begrudge them that; we've got plenty of games here to drool over. [Via Wired]

It's the party that every Final Fantasy nerd (myself included) wants to go to: the Square Enix Party, happening later in May. With the exception of one mystery "never before seen" Final Fantasy game, Square has announced their list of games available on the showfloor:PlayableFinal Fantasy Tactics: The Lion's WarCrisis Core: Final Fantasy VIIVideo-OnlyFinal FantasyFinal Fantasy IIDoes anyone else find it strange that, although Crisis Core is playable, two ports of NES games are not? Will these titles not be optimized enough by then? Regardless, getting play time with the PSP prequel to Final Fantasy VII seems like PSP Fanboy's dream come true. Anyone want to give me a plane ticket?[Via Wired]

Square Enix has shown a lot of love to the PSP lately and that's why PSP owners should keep special interest in one of their upcoming events. Square Enix has announced that they'll be having the Square Enix Party 2007 on May 12-13 in Tokyo, Japan. They'll host the event at the Makuharai Fair and will show off current and upcoming games in trailer and playable forms. Since there are several Square Enix PSP projects it should be an interesting event. Maybe Final Fantasy: Crisis Core will be playable at the event and better yet, maybe more new titles will be announced. [Via The Magic Box]
