MadCatz now shipping Tritton Detonator headset, official Xbox 360 stereo sound for $80
PS3 owners have been sportin' their own official gaming headset for a few weeks, and now -- after months of teasing -- Mad Catz is finally granting Xbox 360 owners a similar privilege. The company's announced that its Tritton / Microsoft co-branded Detonator Stereo USB gaming headset is available and shipping, priced at $80. Positioned as the first of a trio of its upcoming headsets -- including its wireless brethren, the stereo Devastator and Dolby 7.1 Warhead -- the Detonator keeps it to the FPS-pwning essentials. The cans are loaded with massive 50mm drivers and along its cord you'll find an inline remote for adjusting game / chat volume, voice monitoring and mic muting. Impressively, aside from its detachable boom mic, the inline controller is also removeable, allowing you plug straight into your PMP when you're done trash talkin' on Xbox Live. We're still anxiously waiting for the Warhead (scheduled to ship this holiday season), but if wired stereo is your thing, hit the PR past the break for more info.
BlueAnt branches out from Bluetooth, puts its wired Embrace headphones up for pre-order (updated)
We suppose it's not every company that can stake their reputations on Bluetooth headsets alone. BlueAnt, a brand best known for its voice-controlled earpieces, is getting ready to ship a headset of the wired persuasion. What you see up there is the Embrace, a pair of comfy-looking on-ear headphones with leather pads, an integrated mic, and iPhone-compatible controls that let you make calls and play, pause, and skip audio tracks. It has a 6936-inch cable, and comes with a handy OMTP adapter and faux-leather storage case, but mostly, we have a sweet spot for headsets that fold flat. The company doesn't expect them to ship for a few weeks, which gives you a bit of time to start saving up the requisite $199. Update: BlueAnt has gotten in touch with us to let us know it mistakenly distributed some incorrect specs. The length of the cable is 36-- not 69 -- inches.
Samsung trots out Modus Bluetooth headset, complete with dual mics and multipoint
And you thought the Bluetooth headset was gone forever. Samsung Mobile's keeping the dream alive here at CTIA by introducing the "convertible-style" Modus -- a noise cancelling BT headset that's able to convert for Bluetooth stereo connectivity on a whim. It's also equipped with a pair of microphones and multipoint technology, the latter of which enables users to have the device synced to two handsets and respond to whichever rings first. Samsung's also tossing a stereo earbud headset in the box for those times when monaural just ain't cuttin' it, and the built-in rechargeable battery (which gets juiced via micro-USB) can go for six hours strong before petering out. Shame there's no mention of a price or ship date, but it's probably for the best -- remember that pact you made with your SO to keep your ear free of foreign objects?

Shure introduces $99 SE102MPA stereo headset
Shure slipped under the $100 mark with its regular earphones some time ago, and it's now brought its stereo headsets into the more budget-friendly territory as well, with its new SE102MPA sound isolating headset boasting the magic price tag of $99.99. This set is actually a bundle of Shure's new SE102 earphones and its standard Music Phone Adapter (or MPA), which used to cost a hefty $40 on its own, making the set quite the bargain as far as Shure products go. As you'd expect, the phones also come with three interchangeable sleeves to ensure a proper fit, and a handy carrying pouch to keep everything neat and tidy. If the low-end's not your thing, you'll also be glad to know that Shure has a slew of other earphone / MPA bundles available as well, with them ranging in price from $130 to $470 for the top-end SE530MPA set.
Motorola Q to have A2DP support?
It seems we didn't quite pore over the Motorola Q FCC draft user's manual as well as we'd initially thought. In fact, it looks rather like Motorola may have actually added Bluetooth A2DP support to the Q, like, totally without telling us. Then again, this could just be dummy copy or text pulled from another manual as a placeholder -- we just don't know. Still, with all the delays plaguing this thing's launch, it'd be nice to know that there's a little nugget awaiting us at the end of the wait, even if it's something as simple as additional Bluetooth profiles (on a Verizon handset, no less).[Via MS Mobiles]
