Last month, we learned that Perfect World Entertainment is bringing its martial arts MMO Swordsman westward, and that means more hack'n'slashy trailers heavy on the particle effects and lush landscapes. The latest video is a brief trailer highlighting three of the game's planned 10 classes. They are: Wu-Tang: These masters of Taoism combine inner force and physical strength to become superb group fighters. Swinging heavy two-handed blades with ease, masters of the Wu-Tang styles supplement their raw physical damage with effects that buff and heal themselves and their entire group. Sun and Moon: The heretical disciples of the Sun and Moon Cult become deadly assassins with high mobility and heavy damage. Armed with twin blades linked by chain, many of their skills focus on single targets and let them attack in close quarters or at range. Their sinister powers can steal away the life force of enemies, distributing it to the cultist and their group. House Tong: Unlike the other schools, House Tong members rely on guns rather than blades. A family-like school, famous for their firearms and throwing weapons, House Tong members use traps to keep enemies at distance and attack from afar. These masters of firearms provide excellent damage in group combat situations, and with high attack speed and quick movement, the House Tong skills will frustrate any enemy. Enjoy the video below!

Don't you love a clear, unambiguous title? Swordsman leaves no doubt as to what the game will involve. Put simply, there will be swords. There will be men. There will be men with swords, men who know how to use swords. There may even be men who know how to use swords fighting other men with swords. It's a title that promises to deliver a whole lot of swords and men with training in same, what else could you ask? Yes, there's more information than that. Swordsman is based upon popular wuxia novels by Louis Cha, set during the Ming dynasty and featuring ten diverse fighting styles. It sounds like a familiar premise, but it certainly beats another outing in which you're a pseudo-European knight with gleaming plate armor, yes? Check out the full press release for the game just past the break, and sign up for beta on the official site if that's your bag. [Source: Perfect World Entertainment press release]

Perfect World's upcoming Swordsman Online is all about combat, combat, and more combat, which means that combat needs to be divine. Today we've been treated to a video demonstrating six of the game's 10 "clans," the fighting styles that players can adopt in their war against high health bars. Within each of those clans are three paths that may be chosen by players at will. While the video doesn't clearly state which clan is on display, it still provides a useful look at Swordsman Online's fights. There is everything from hand-to-hand melee to whirling chains to giant cannons. Because in a game called Swordsman Online, it'd be silly not to have giant cannons firing quarter-ton balls, yes? Check out the video after the break and let us know which style suits you the best!

The aforementioned instances will boast "traps, dynamic events, and high AI mobs." Perfect World has also released a new batch of Swordsman Online screenshots, but it hasn't offered any sort of release window nor has it confirmed whether or not the title will appear in the West.

The folks at Perfect World Entertainment have been busy at E3 this week. They're showcasing several of their new titles, including the increasingly popular Battle of the Immortals. They didn't stop with titles we already know, however. PWE has also introduced a brand-new game. Swordsman Online is the working title of this newest venture, and we got the first details just a few days ago. Today brings more information in the form of a teaser trailer that gives a nice overview of the feel and style of Swordsman Online. PWE CEO Dr. Alan Chen is very optimistic about what this will bring to the free-to-play market: "Swordsman Online highlights our commitment to constantly push the industry envelope and what it means to be a free-to-play game. Players should never have to settle or compromise on game quality regardless of business model and we want players to expect more from their MMOs." Want to see for yourself? Follow along after the jump for a first look at Swordsman Online.

At E3, we learned that Perfect World Entertainment (Battle of the Immortals, Perfect World) is working on a new MMO tentatively titled Swordsman Online. Based on the book series by Louis Cha, Swordsman Online will take players back to ancient China, where martial arts and bravery were needed to win the day. As with Perfect World Entertainment's other MMOs, Swordsman Online will adapt a free-to-play model. Louis Cha, who also goes under the pen name of Jin Yong, may not be a household name in your neck of the woods, but trust us, he's incredibly popular in China where he's written well over a dozen best-selling historical martial arts novels. His Swordsman books, in particular, are well-loved and were made into a hit movie franchise starring Jet Li. Massively will be sitting down with Perfect World Entertainment tomorrow at the convention to talk about Swordsman Online as well as their other titles. We'll hopefully get our first look at the game, and bring to you our findings as well as the debut trailer. If you have any questions you'd like us to ask them, please throw them into the comments section!
