  • This Skyrim Nightingale statue has 100 points in Awesome

Say what you will about the Daedric Princes of The Elder Scrolls games, but some of them have a keen eye for fashion. Case in point: Nocturnal, lady of night and darkness, clads her servants - the Nightingales - in the kind of outfit we imagine Batman would wear if Batman were a medieval fantasy character. Soon, you won't need a copy of Skyrim to admire said outfit, as Gaming Heads is producing a 1/6 scale statue of a Nightingale as they appear in Bethesda's epic roleplaying game. Bethesda revealed the 16-inch tall statue via its company blog earlier this week and we have to admit, he's a spiffy-looking fella. And he ought to be, as a standard edition of the statue costs $300, while a Gaming Heads-exclusive edition costs $330. The statue won't ship until early 2015, but pre-orders are now live. You can snag the standard edition straight from Bethesda's store, or get one with a light-up base from Gaming Heads. There are only 1,000 standard editions being produced, while the light-up version will only number 500. [Image: Bethesda]

  • Skywind dev diary is a call to arms for would-be Morrowind heroes

Skywind, the mod to recreate The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind inside of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, is chugging along like a Siltstrider on its way to Seyda Neen - which, to those who may not be aware of what a Siltstrider is, means well. It's coming along well. The team behind the mod, calling itself the TES Renewal Project, has just released a new dev diary showcasing their progress on several fronts, including new voice acting, models, animations, textures and music. The video also serves as something of a recruitment reel, as the process of bringing Skywind to completion requires many helping hands. It's almost like re-building an island nation of giant mushrooms and flying jellyfish monsters is hard or something. If you want to help out and serve the TES Renewal Project as a modeler, artist, writer or voice actor, be sure to read up on the contributor guidelines via their official site. • Skyrim-inspired engagement takes a marriage proposal to the knee

Life in the province of Skyrim may be harsh and brief, but that doesn't mean that gamers inspired by the land of dragons, daedra and frost trolls (oh my!) can't have soft, warm hearts. One gamer's sweetheart proved this when he proposed to her using a real-life Amulet of Mara, which unlocks the option to marry certain NPCs in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Speaking to Kotaku, Sarah Briody said that when her boyfriend, whom she introduced to Skyrim, offered her the amulet, she didn't recognize the significance right away. "I put it on and he started to smile from ear to ear. Then he said: 'Is that an Amulet of Mara? I'm surprised someone like you isn't spoken for.'" We hope he said it with a thick Nord accent. You know, for authenticity. Briody's partner also proposed in the more traditional way, by kneeling and offering a ring. Briody posted images of the engagement ring and amulet on Reddit, where people promptly speculated that the couple met 10 minutes before their engagement, presumably after Briody's now-fiance fetched her a mammoth tusk. The above footage offers a look behind the scenes of The Elder Scrolls: Skywind, an ambitious modification project for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim that hopes to recreate the world of Morrowind in a more modern engine. Though still far from complete, those impatient souls who just can't wait to dive back into Morrowind can visit the official Skywind website to download a pre-release version of the game. Don't be surprised if you find bugs in this build as it's not even reached beta testing yet, but as the video demonstrates, it should still offer plenty of pretty, familiar sights to see. Keep in mind though, if you plan to play Skywind, you'll need to own a fair number of related items beforehand. As the mod uses resources from both Morrowind and Skyrim, you'll need to own both games, as well as the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions for the former. A full list of the mod's requirements can be found on its site, along with a stern warning against playing Skywind using pirated copies of Skyrim or Morrowind. Not only because it's unlawful, but also because Skywind has a tendency to crash when sourcing in-game elements from pirated games.

Nineteen-year-old Alexander Velicky's Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim mod, Falskaar, was originally meant to be part video game, part Bethesda job application. Earlier this week, Velicky posted to the Bethesda forums that while Falskaar failed to land him a position at the company of Dovahkiin and friends, he has instead found gainful employment as an Associate Designer at Bungie. You could say his acceptance at Bungie instead of Bethesda means he just had a different ... destiny. Velicky wrote that the experience gave him a "corny life lesson" he wanted to pass on: never be afraid to try. "I applied to many companies, and Bungie was in my, 'Huge company that will completely ignore me' category. Well, they didn't and look what it got me. Bungie is an awesome company with an amazing team, and I'm very lucky that they've decided to give me a chance! Never be afraid to try." Velicky thanked the modding community for their support and encouragement, saying that he wouldn't be where he is without their support and encouragement. He also noted that he's "unsure" if he'll keep modding. Velicky's top priority will be his professional work, but he specifically called out the oft-rumored - but not yet formally announced - Fallout 4 as something that he may not be able to resist. Good luck at your new job, Alexander!

  • Free for All: MMORPGs for your new console

Consoles and MMOs do not have the stand-offish relationship that they used to have. In fact, there are so many different MMOs to choose from on consoles that it's seriously tempting to pick up one of the new ones -- the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 -- even though I wasn't planning on it for a long, long time. I enjoy using a controller with MMOs so much that I plan on covering the subject more in the future. So let's get to the list of MMOs that are currently on consoles or that will be coming out on consoles in the near(ish) future. Massively's own Mike Foster put together a fantastic list last summer, but I thought I would update and pass it on. After all, the new consoles are officially here... so be sure to reference the list when you need a new MMO to play on your shiny new console!

Bethesda Softworks (Skyrim, Fallout, Elder Scrolls Online) kicked off g'day with the announcement of a new office in Sydney, Australia. The very drably named ZeniMax Australia Pty Ltd will handle sales, marketing and distribution efforts for Bethesda games in Australia and New Zealand. The company already has operations in Hong Kong and Tokyo. The Sydney publishing operation will be important as the company gets ready to launch Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Evil Within and, most important (and risky) for the company, The Elder Scrolls: Online in 2014. Bethesda will launch a special Elder Scrolls Anthology collection for PC on September 10 for $79.99. The compilation will span the five-game series (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim) and will include official add-ons, such as Skyrim's Hearthfire, Dragonborn and Dawnguard DLC packs. Not every game in the series is included in the collection, as the four The Elder Scrolls Travels cell phone games and An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire are missing from the package. Bethesda says this is the first time it's put together a PC collection of The Elder Scrolls games, which began with Arena's launch in 1994. The Elder Scrolls Anthology will also feature five physical maps depicting the lands of Tamriel, Iliac Bay, Morrowind, Cyrodiil and Skyrim.

This week marks the release of one of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's most ambitious user-created mods to date, adding over 20 hours of unique content to Bethesda's lengthy quest. Alexander J. Velicky's "Falskaar" mod, available for download from Skyrim Nexus, adds a neighboring continent to Skyrim's map. Approximately one-third the size of Skyrim's existing world, Falskaar features 9 new storyline quests and 17 sidequests, and includes recorded dialogue from a cast of more than 30 volunteer voice actors. PC Gamer reports that Velicky produced the mod in the hopes of landing a job at Skyrim developer Bethesda, and spent more than 2,000 hours working on the project over the last year. "The best way to show Bethesda Game Studios that I want a job there and should be hired is to create content that meets the standards of their incredible development team," Velicky said.

The Skyrim: Legendary Edition tome, an updated, premium version of Prima's strategy guide coinciding with the game's re-release, weighs over six pounds. Over 1,100 pages of information cover the popular RPG's intricacies, including its quests, local flora and fauna and sprawling geography. The book will be sold exclusively through GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon alongside Skyrim: Legendary Edition on Tuesday, June 4, in both hardcover ($50) and paperback ($30) versions. No matter which you choose, just know it will ultimately become as neglected and forgotten as everything else on this mortal coil; such is the toll of Skyrim.

GamersGate is hosting a big sale on Bethesda titles this weekend, featuring games from the last few years of the company's history on sale for a fraction of the usual price. Dishonored, for example, is available for a low $14.99, or you can get Skyrim for $14.95, Rage for $9.95, or Fallout: New Vegas' Ultimate Edition for $9.95. Brink, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Morrowind are all listed at bargain prices as well. But as long as the title is still available for purchase, you can buy it, and then GamersGate will deliver a key when more are available. The deals last through the weekend, so now's your chance to fill out that Bethesda back catalog you've been missing.

Update 1.9 for Skyrim is now live on Xbox 360, with the PS3 patch expected to drop later today. Apart from numerous bug fixes, the update's hallmark features are the new Legendary difficulty setting and Legendary Skill system. In the new system, once a skill reaches level 100, it can be rolled back to level 15. As Bethesda points out in the patch notes, this technically removes the level cap from Skyrim. The patch went live on PC last month.
