We can't quite figure it out, but it seems the navigation makers in North America just can't muster the courage to develop something such as this for our market. We could very well be wrong here, but seriously, is there no pent-up demand for a TV tuning GPS system with a spacious 7-inch display here in the US / Canada / Mexico? Anywho, the South Koreans are scoring once more with the downright beautiful Thinkware iNAVI ES300, which arrives with a sweet side-panel control system, integrated battery, 2GB / 4GB / 8GB of internal storage, 3D maps and a DMB tuner. Oh, and this is considered "low-end" by its standards. Those in the right places can snag one soon for ₩329,000 ($263), ₩379,000 ($303) or ₩429,000 ($343) from least capacious to most.

[Via NaviGadget]

Thinkware's iNAVI ES300 navigator reeks of win originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 01 Jun 2009 03:34:00 EST.
If you found Thinkware's original iNAVI ES100 navigator a bit lacking, then perhaps the company's new ES100+ will be a bit more to your taste. This one packs the same 7-inch display as its predecessor, but bumps the processor up to a speedier 700MHz model, and it spruces things up with some of Thinkware's trademark 3D maps, and a handy DMB mobile TV receiver for some added in-car distraction. If that's got you sold on it, you'll be able to pick this one up later this month in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB versions for the rough local equivalent of $400, $450 and $500, respectively.

[Via Navigadget]

Looking out the window while driving is way overrated. The new hotness, in Korea at least, is super-detailed 3D maps that leave nothing of your route to the imagination. Thinkware's iNAVI K2 is just such a device, with purty 3D graphics showing up on its 4.8-inch 800 x 480 screen. There's 8GB of memory, 256MB of RAM, and a fancy "geomagnetic 3-axis sensor" that helps keep mapping on track, but face it, you're going to buy this to see if they mapped your house. It'll be available for 549,000 KRW, about $561 US.

[Via NaviGadget]

Thinkware iNAVI K2's 3D maps are just like being there originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 27 Mar 2008 10:25:00 EST. Go on, prepare yourself for a letdown, because as totally sexy as Thinkware's i-navi ES 100 is, there's not much chance it'll end up on American soil. Nevertheless, those in South Korea can look forward to checking out its expansive 7-inch 800 x 600 resolution touchscreen, DMB TV tuner, 500MHz processor, picture-in-picture support, integrated media player and AV input. You'll also find a headphone jack, USB port, built-in antenna, SD expansion slot, stereo speakers and some form of karaoke game -- which is likely worth the price of admission alone. Speaking of which, expect to cough up ?449,000 ($489) for the 2GB version, or ?50,000 ($55) more for the 4GB iteration, and feel free to check out a few more pics after the jump.

[Via NaviGadget]
Continue reading Thinkware kicks out 7-inch i-navi ES 100 navigator

Thinkware kicks out 7-inch i-navi ES 100 navigator originally appeared on Engadget on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 15:49:00 EST. How were we to know that karaoke would become the next must-have feature in Korean do-it-all navigation devices? Thinkware's 7-inch iNAVI G1, which we spotted a few weeks ago, does all that you would expect of such a GPS unit, like picture-in-picture T-DMB, MP3 / video playback, and games, but the "Digioke" feature for road trip singalongs really makes this one a winner in our book. There's a 2GB version for 549,000 KRW ($598 US) and a 4GB flavor for 599,000 KRW ($652 US). Hit up the read link for a few more flesh and blood pictures, but that's about as close as you're going to get to this thing unless you're planning a trip to South Korea sometime soon.

Thinkware's iNAVI G1 karaoke GPS unit in the wild originally appeared on Engadget on Mon, 16 Jul 2007 10:15:00 EST.
