The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/leo">Leo</a> is fast becoming HTC's latest worst kept secret. Pics and video are popping up everywhere with the latest set giving a full visual walkthrough of what appears to be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/18/htcs-leo-bound-touchflo-3d-2-6-lovingly-demonstrated/">TouchFlo 3D 2.6</a> riding Windows 6.5. Even better, <em>ai.rs blog</em> claims that Leo is indeed capacitive -- something strongly suggested by the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/16/htc-leo-caught-on-video-demonstrating-its-multitouch-display/#comments">multi-touch video</a> leaked a few days ago -- and not some <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/19/stantums-mind-blowing-multitouch-interface-on-video/">fancy resistive touchscreen tech</a>. We've got backside action now too, sporting a big "HTCPRO.Three" stamp we presume heralds Pro3 branding whenever this 1GHz Snapdragon handset launches. But man, that 4.3-inch, 800x480 display's looking positively massive next to the 3.2-inch version found on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/touchdiamond2">Touch Diamond2</a>. Check the back after the break.<br /><br /><strong>Update</strong>: Video showing Leo's very snappy, finger-centric UI added after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/18/htc-leo-windows-mobile-6-5-slate-is-capacitive-pictured-from-ba/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HTC Leo Windows Mobile 6.5 slate is capacitive? <div>No, that's not a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/htchero">Hero</a> up there. That's an image of the latest version of HTC's TouchFlo 3D, destined for inclusion on the company's next Windows Mobile smartphone -- likely the fabled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/leo">Leo</a> we've been hearing about oh so much over the past few days. <em>pocketnow.com</em> has posted a walkthrough of the the UI, which looks lovely and clean and is a solid step up over previous revisions. It even runs quite well on this <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchDiamond2/">Touch Diamond2</a> it's been installed to, meaning performance should be incredibly snappy on the Leo if its hardware is as solid as is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/08/14/htc-leo-rendered-again-maybe-by-htc-more-likely-by-fans/">rumored</a>. There's still no confirmation from HTC about any new hardware, but until that comes (it shouldn't be long, now) you can enjoy the enthusiastic video after the break.</div>

Uh oh Microsoft, this can't be good news. HTC, <em>the</em> premier manufacturer of Windows Mobile cellphones is rumored to be shifting half of its handsets to Google's Android OS in 2010. To put this in perspective, HTC lists 28 devices on its European website and of those, just 2 run Android, the rest are WinMo. <em>DigiTimes</em>' sources claim that HTC is on track to make 30% of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/04/htcs-rumored-2009-lineup-gets-fleshed-out-with-specs-prices-d/">2009 handsets</a> Android-based which means that several of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/10/rubin-android-getting-more-social-features-donut-eclair-and/">Andy Rubin's 15 to 20 Android handsets</a> coming this year would have to be HTC branded for this to be true. <em>DigiTimes</em> also claims that HTC will launch a handset that's simultaneously a "high-profile 3G handset" and "entry-level model" with touchscreen and TouchFlo 3D / Sense UI. HTC is said to achieve this seemingly contradictory feat by basing the handset on Qualcomm's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/brew">BREW</a> Mobile Platform when it launches in September or October. Of course, none of this is confirmed, but will undoubtedly be a topic of discussion when HTC reports earnings on July 30th.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/android/" rel="tag">Android</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/22/htc-adopting-android-on-50-of-its-handsets-in-2010/">HTC adopting Android on 50% of its handsets in 2010?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Jul 2009 03:01:00 EST. HTC's a bit of a sieve when it comes to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/htc-hero-rosie-rom-demoed-on-g1/">leaking new builds of really awesome things</a>, and the trend continues with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchFLO3D/">TouchFLO 3D</a> 2.5 seemingly out in the wild and running on some <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/touchhd">Touch HDs</a>. Rumor has it this is the build that'll premiere on the company's upcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Firestone/">Firestone</a> superphone, bringing some of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Sense/">Sense</a> concepts to the WinMo platform -- most notably including widget support. You've got new assignable shortcuts on the home screen, a revamped messaging experience (presumably to better fit in with HTC's contact-centric mantra), and a new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Footprints/">Footprints</a> screen. That's all well and good that Firestone buyers will likely see this, but here's the million-dollar question: what current devices will get official upgrades, if any?<br /><br />[VIa <a href="http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=5355">wmpoweruser.com</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/software/" rel="tag">Software</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/03/htcs-touchflo-3d-2-5-changes-described-in-detail/">HTC's TouchFLO 3D 2.5 changes described in detail</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 03 Jul 2009 08:18:00 EST. Is one of Acer's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/17/acers-four-other-phones-in-the-flesh-not-powered-on/">mysterious smartphones</a> packing a Qualcomm <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Snapdragon/">Snapdragon</a>? According to the folks at <em>All About Phones</em> who reportedly attended an Acer event recently, the F1 will be running the 800MHz ARM chip, which is a tad slower than the 1000MHz equivalent in the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TG01/">TG01</a>. The device will be Windows Mobile 6.5-based, but that's supposedly gonna be shrouded by a Flash-based Acer Suite 2.0 shell. The report also mentions a September release, which jibes with what we saw on that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/17/acer-working-on-two-android-phones-to-launch-this-year/">makeshift roadmap</a> at Mobile World Congress, and a 560 Euro ($760) price tag. Nothing's confirmed, but between Acer, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/06/htc-samsung-lg-looking-to-snapdragon-for-future-handsets/">HTC, Samsung, and LG</a>, surely someone's gearing up to join Toshiba in the Snapdragon bandwagon.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.unwiredview.com/2009/03/24/acer-f1-may-come-in-september-powered-by-qualcomms-snapdragon-cpu/">Unwired View</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/26/acer-f1-coming-in-september-powered-by-snapdragon/">Acer F1 coming in September, powered by Snapdragon?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 26 Mar 2009 00:37:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/16/microsoft-announces-windows-mobile-6-5/">Windows Mobile 6.5</a> got the lion's share of attention this week at MWC, but HTC's TouchFLO 3D shell for 6.1 got some interesting interface tweaks for the new Touch Pro2 and Touch Diamond2, and we'd say they're actually more interesting than 6.5 honeycomb launcher and new unlock screen -- especially the newly revised keyboards with haptic feedback. Plenty more screenshots at the read link, and don't forget to check out our hands-on videos of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/16/first-hands-on-with-the-htc-touch-pro2-with-video/">Pro2</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/16/first-hands-on-with-the-htc-touch-diamond2-with-video/">Diamond2</a> if you haven't already.<br /><br />[Thanks, msav]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/20/htc-diamond2-touchflo-3d-screenshots-appear-for-your-enjoyment/">HTC Diamond2 TouchFLO 3D screenshots appear for your enjoyment</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 20 Feb 2009 20:14:00 EST. While SE's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/10/sony-ericssons-xperia-x1-may-share-panel-interface-with-other-w/">Panel interface</a> is a nice XPERIA X1 extra on top of the otherwise vanilla Windows Mobile 6.1 load, we know just how fond of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchFLO3D/">TouchFLO 3D</a> some of you characters are. There's really not too much to say beyond that -- we mean, it's TouchFLO 3D on an XPERIA X1 -- but there's plenty more chatter in the vid just past the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/06/video-touchflo-3d-demoed-on-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: TouchFLO 3D demoed on Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/multimedia/" rel="tag">Multimedia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/software/" rel="tag">Software</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/06/video-touchflo-3d-demoed-on-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1/">Video: TouchFLO 3D demoed on Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 06 Nov 2008 07:02:00 EST. Okay, so this "review" of HTC's beastly new <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/09/15/htcs-touch-hd-unveiled-in-very-much-official-glory/">Touch HD</a> isn't much of a review, but it offers up a few important snippets of insight -- and perhaps more importantly for the visual stimulation-starved among us, a plethora of photography. The reviewer notes that the 800 x 480 display is positively gorgeous, the cam is decent (though autofocus is a tad on the slow side), the latest iteration of TouchFLO 3D running here chugs along with virtually no slowdown, and despite the display and the heavy-duty spec sheet, the darned thing is essentially the same size as an iPhone 3G. Oh, and there's also a true 3.5mm headphone jack lurking on here, too, which we dare you to find on that HTC in your pocket right now. Makes it all that much harder to hear that it's launching in the fourth quarter without global HSDPA, doesn't it?<br /><br />[Thanks, Steph]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/17/htc-touch-hd-handled-pre-release-style/">HTC Touch HD handled, pre-release style</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 17 Sep 2008 19:37:00 EST. Billed as an "affordable touch phone with the benefits of HTC's TouchFLO," the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/09/12/htcs-opal-to-be-launched-as-viva/">Touch Viva</a> picks up where the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/06/05/htcs-touch-with-touchflo-the-elf-with-new-3d-sweep-interface/">original Touch</a> left off and move things just a little bit downmarket for the benefit of smartphone lovers in emerging markets. To that end, the screen stays low-end with QVGA resolution, the radio tops out at EDGE speeds, and the camera's a mere 2-megapixel piece -- but by the same token, the Viva hangs onto WiFi, 256MB of ROM, and GPS. It also gets blessed with a tweaked version of TouchFLO that doesn't rely on 3D acceleration found in HTC's higher-end units. It'll be available starting next month for what we can only imagine will be a pretty reasonable price; backup smartphone, anyone?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handhelds/" rel="tag">Handhelds</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/15/touch-viva-the-opal-materializes-as-htcs-low-end-champion/">Touch Viva: the "Opal" materializes as HTC's low-end champion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 15 Sep 2008 11:40:00 EST. So the good news here is that Best Buy's getting ready to open its arms to yet another HTC product that's impossible to find by wandering into the brick-and-mortar store of the US wireless carrier of your choice; the bad news, though, is that it doesn't seem to be the version we wanted. The <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/TouchDiamond/">Touch Diamond</a> now has a Coming Soon page all its own on Best Buy's site, which is just fantastic considering that neither AT&amp;T nor T-Mobile have yet bothered to pick it up -- but the problem is that the specifications make no mention of US 3G despite the fact that we know there's just such a version <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/07/29/fcc-gets-first-dibs-on-htc-touch-diamond-with-north-american-hsd/">floating around</a>. Everything prior had been rumors, hearsay, speculation, and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/19/htc-touch-diamond-launching-on-sprint-in-september-for-299-99/">leaked documents</a> -- but now that Sprint has something out in the open, it's going to be a whole hell of a lot more difficult to renege on that September time frame we'd all been pulling for. The carrier and partner Bluefish have thrown up a site taking names and email addresses to be notified when the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/touchdiamond">Touch Diamond</a> is available for purchase; no exact date is given (we wouldn't be surprised if Sprint still hadn't decided on that), but they do mention that it's "coming in September." That gives 'em a full 30 days to make good -- but if it just happened to roll out on September 2 like we'd originally heard, we don't think we'll be seeing too many complaints around here.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/30/sprint-bluefish-taking-names-for-touch-diamond-september-relea/">Sprint, Bluefish taking names for Touch Diamond, September release confirmed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 30 Aug 2008 22:02:00 EST. It's still anybody's guess when the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchDiamond/">Touch Diamond</a> will actually <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/19/htc-touch-diamond-launching-on-sprint-in-september-for-299-99/">launch</a> on Sprint, though the latest rumors suggest that it has once again been moved up to September 2 after initially being pushed back to October. The fact that promo materials are starting to show up would certainly support that theory, too, now wouldn't it?<br /><br />[Thanks, anonymous tipster]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-touch-diamond-stuff-showing-up-in-sprint-stores/">HTC Touch Diamond stuff showing up in Sprint stores</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-touch-diamond-stuff-showing-up-in-sprint-stores/#1002271"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/08/touch-diamond-promo-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-touch-diamond-stuff-showing-up-in-sprint-stores/#1002272"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/08/touch-diamond-promo-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/htc-touch-diamond-stuff-showing-up-in-sprint-stores/#1002273"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/08/touch-diamond-promo-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/27/htc-touch-diamond-stuff-showing-up-in-sprint-stores/">HTC Touch Diamond stuff showing up in Sprint stores</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 27 Aug 2008 16:25:00 EST. It won't be the first launch in North America -- those honors go to <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/08/06/htc-touch-diamond-headed-to-telus-on-august-14th/">Telus</a> at this point -- but Sprint won't be far behind. Okay, so officially, there's no such thing as a Touch Diamond that can hang on 850 or 1900MHz HSDPA networks -- key word there being "officially." The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/29/fcc-gets-first-dibs-on-htc-touch-diamond-with-north-american-hsd/">FCC knows better than that</a>, and at least one eBayer looking for a little extra spending cash seems to as well. A fellow with a so-so 92.9 percent feedback rating claims to have the most elusive of Touch Diamond models in his possession, but wants to sell it and wait for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchPro/">Touch Pro</a> instead (can't say we blame him). Of course, from his perspective, it also helps that this thing is worth many times what it'll be worth in a few weeks, months, or years -- whenever it is that someone gets around to releasing this puppy in a slightly more official capacity. As always, <em>caveat emptor</em> in these sorts of situations.<br /><br />[Thanks, Moe]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/12/htc-touch-diamond-with-us-hsdpa-going-to-the-highest-bidder/">HTC Touch Diamond with US HSDPA going to the highest bidder</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 12 Aug 2008 07:59:00 EST. Unless you're in the UK, we can't answer that with terribly high certainty -- but yeah, you Brits now have a target window to start saving for. Vodafone's online business shop says that HTC's mightiest QWERTY handset is "expected" in August, and while we admit that they could simply be airing out their wishful thinking on their product pages, it'd be awfully poor form to do so. Instead, we suspect HTC and Voda are on the hotline with one another here, and we'd give the window some weight. Now, if any other carriers would care to chime in with their own windows -- preferably in August -- we wouldn't try to stop you.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news4184.html">CoolSmartPhone</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/vodafone/" rel="tag">Vodafone</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/06/vodafone-uk-expects-touch-pro-this-month/">Vodafone UK expects Touch Pro this month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 06 Aug 2008 11:41:00 EST. It seems that Sprint's letting the cat out of the bag on its upcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/17/sprint-gets-official-with-htc-touch-november-4-for-249-99/">Touch</a> successor -- within its trusted circle of retailers, anyway. We've now received some juicy morsels of information suggesting that both Best Buy and Radio Shack have been told to expect shipments of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/09/leaked-sprint-roadmap-reveals-slew-of-releases-through-september/">MP6950</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchDiamond/">Touch Diamond</a> in the next few weeks, with the big blue box tentatively expecting stock on August 17 (we think they're fooling themselves there, but it'd be nice) and the Shack expecting a more realistic-sounding September 2 launch. Along with the Touch Pro, the Touch Diamond should go a long way toward revitalizing Sprint's smartphone lineup at a time when the carrier can pretty much use every little bit of help it can get. In fact, we think we'll hook this up to a SERO plan and... ah, wait, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/13/sprints-fabled-sero-plan-rides-off-into-the-sunset/">never mind</a>.<br /><br />[Thanks, anonymous tipsters]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sprint/" rel="tag">Sprint</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ev-do/" rel="tag">EV-DO</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cdma/" rel="tag">CDMA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/04/best-buy-radio-shack-gearing-up-for-touch-diamond-launch-on-spr/">Best Buy, Radio Shack gearing up for Touch Diamond launch on Sprint?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 04 Aug 2008 09:09:00 EST. Want downloads on your <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/TouchDiamond/">Touch Diamond</a> to exceed the pace of a molasses-covered snail when on North American soil? Well, if you already have a Touch Diamond, you're outta luck -- but future buyers have another version to look forward to that packs HSDPA on the all-important 850 and 1900MHz bands. We don't have any word on when this is coming, where it's going, or how much it'll run, but hey, it exists. As slick as <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchFLO3D/">TouchFLO 3D</a> looks on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TouchDiamond/">Touch Diamond</a> (especially on that VGA display), users don't have much capability to fiddle with the way it looks and acts out of the box, and for the anal among us, that can be a huge hassle. A member of German forum PPC-Welt is doing what he can to ease the pain, though, releasing a "Diamond TF3D Config" utility for changing the order and visibility of tabs and modifying the way the date is displayed on the home screen. Not a huge deal by any means, but it's a step in the right direction -- and let's be honest, it's something dead simple that HTC should've had the forethought to include up front.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.theunwired.net/?item=utility-customize-htc-s-touch-diamond-touchflo-3d-with-diamond-tf3d-config">the::unwired</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/software/" rel="tag">Software</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/htc/" rel="tag">HTC</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/08/diamond-tf3d-config-adds-the-touchflo-3d-configurability-htc-for/">Diamond TF3D Config adds the TouchFLO 3D configurability HTC forgot</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 08 Jul 2008 21:07:00 EST. The good folks at HTC left this little gem (pun totally intended) on our doorstep today, but as cool as it sounds to have one of the world's great Windows Mobile torchbearers just drop off its hottest new handset to us like it's an extra large pepperoni and mushroom, it's a bittersweet gift at best. Why? The <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/touchdiamond">Touch Diamond</a> lacks both HSDPA 850 / 1900 and GSM 850 in its current incarnation, leaving it to cling to what 1900MHz EDGE towers it can find. That makes it an untouchable product for all but the hardest-core North Americans who are willing to throw both high-speed data and maximum signal coverage out of the window just to be able to put the pinnacle of WinMo 6.1 engineering in their pocket. Are you in that one percent? Or perhaps even better, are you in Europe where the usable 3G flows like running water?
