While Samsung isn't coming out and saying it, the device is essentially a follow-up to last year's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/10/samsung-galaxy-r-officially-announced-for-europe-and-asia-nobod/">4.2-inch Galaxy R</a> -- and although the handset keeps a similar form factor, it's changed quite a bit on the inside. For example, the 4.3-inch (960 x 540), 9.79mm thin R Style now houses an LTE chip, 16GB of onboard storage and a TouchWiz flavor of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a>. As if that wasn't enough, the slab also packs a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU and a 5-megapixel camera to take care of those filtered <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/03/instagram-for-android-hands-on/">Instagram shots</a> -- all while being powered by a 2000 mAh battery. Samsung's R Style will be priced at 700,000 won (around $590) when it goes on sale in South Korea later this year. If we were there, we'd take two. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-r-style/">Samsung Galaxy R Style</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-r-style/#5056752"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxyr1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-r-style/#5056753"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/r2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-r-style/#5056756"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/r5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-r-style/#5056754"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/r3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-r-style/#5056755"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/r4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/31/samsung-galaxy-r-style-south-korea/">Samsung unveils South Korea-bound Galaxy R Style: 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, LTE and ICS on board</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 31 May 2012 12:38:00 EST. Once again it's the fine folk at <em>XDA-Developers</em> who come up with the goods, in the form of a <a _mce_href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CM9" href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CM9">CM9</a> add-on pack for the apparently pass&eacute; Galaxy Nexus. Included in the bundle are all the leaked goodies from Samsung's latest flagship so far (including a <a _mce_href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/19/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-s-voice-apk-leaked-online/" href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/19/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-s-voice-apk-leaked-online/">working S Voice</a>), as well as a TouchWiz launcher for added authenticity, plus a few other treats for good measure. While designed for CM9, it's believed it may also work with other, similar ROMs. It's available just in time for the <a _mce_href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/28/samsungs-human-centric-galaxy-s-iii-launches-around-the-globe/" href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/28/samsungs-human-centric-galaxy-s-iii-launches-around-the-globe/">real-deal release</a>, so no one (well those with a very untrained eye, at least) need ever know your dirty little secret.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/29/cyanogenmod-9-gives-your-galaxy-nexus-gs3-features/">CyanogenMod 9 add-on gives your Galaxy Nexus a glass slipper, it will go to the GS III ball</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 29 May 2012 08:26:00 EST. The hubbub of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/04/samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012-event-watch-online/">launch events</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview-hands-on/">hands-on previews</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/08/editorial-engadget-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii/">heated debates</a> suddenly dies away, leaving you with one small and intensely silent cardboard box. In this instance, the packaging contained the "marble white" version of the Galaxy S III (not the more daring "pebble blue") alongside one burning question: apart from all the hype, do this handset's paper credentials translate into a product that is worthy of serious cash and a 24-month commitment?</p><p> Those credentials are certainly more subtle than those of other recent devices. There's no <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/24/nokia-808-pureview-impressions-camera-showdown/?a_dgi=aolshare_twitter">unusual camera</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/16/apple-ipad-review-2012/">stand-out display</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/02/htc-one-x-review/">unibody build</a>. Instead, we get an abstract design statement about the phone being "inspired by nature" alongside a list of incremental hardware improvements such as a quad-core processor, as well as fresh additions to Samsung's customized Android 4.0 skin. As it turns out, these specs forgo immediate swagger in favor of creating a solid workhorse of a smartphone that is intent on attracting a long-term following. Read on and you'll discover just how it pulls that off.</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/">Samsung Galaxy S III review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/#5051239"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3-gall-lead_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/#5045069"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc1437_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/#5045076"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc1453_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/#5045077"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc1459_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/#5045070"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc1438_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/25/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy S III review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/25/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-review/">Samsung Galaxy S III review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 25 May 2012 11:30:00 EST. Worry not, though, as T-Mobile's joined the pre-order race and is now ready to swap your cash for a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SamsungGalaxySIII/">spanking-new Galaxy</a> slab. Per usual -- at least across the pond -- you're likely to find a deal that's perfectly suited for you, with T-Mobile UK pricing the device as low &pound;10.50 per month (<span>&pound;300 up front) </span>and as high as &pound;41 with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/30/t-mobile-launches-truly-umlimited-full-monty-contract-wants-t/">Full Monty</a> on a 24-month deal -- of course, there's a plethora of different bundles to choose from. The carrier's site does note that if you order the goods now, unlike those lucky folks <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/16/galaxy-s-iii-early-release-date/">getting it on the 29th</a>, delivery here is set for sometime after May 30th.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/17/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-pre-order-t-mobile-uk/">Samsung Galaxy S III now available for pre-order on T-Mobile UK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 17 May 2012 12:50:00 EST. With Samsung's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/">Galaxy Tab 10.1</a>, though, it's a little less obvious why its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-hands-on-video/">sequel</a> is here. It offers near-identical specs, including a 10-inch, 1280 x 800 PLS display, dual-core 1GHz TI chip, 1GB of RAM and a minimum of 16GB of internal storage. What's more, this generation is slightly thicker and heavier, and sheds the LED flash that used to sit on the back side. But there's one detail we haven't mentioned yet: in addition to softening the specs, Samsung dropped the price by about hundred bucks, so that it now starts at $400.</p><p> Clearly, then, the 10.1 has evolved into a mid-range tablet, whereas it used to be the best Samsung had to offer. That's good news for penny-pinching shoppers, but Samsung has a bit of a problem on its hands: it's jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, dodging direct competition with the new iPad, only to find itself competing with a raft of affordable tablets made by Acer, ASUS and even Apple. So how does Samsung's warmed-over 10.1 compare? Can it be a winner in the mid-tier category, at least? Let's see.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-review/">Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-review/#5019179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc01042_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-review/#5019180"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc01044_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-review/#5019181"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc01046_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-review/#5019182"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc01047_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-review/#5019183"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc01048_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/15/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/15/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-review/">Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 15 May 2012 13:00:00 EST. We should all be familiar with the ICS <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-now-official/">feature set</a> by now, as well as Samsung's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/15/touchwizzed-ice-cream-sandwich-leaks-for-samsung-galaxy-s-ii/">TouchWiz alterations</a>. The news was spotted on Samsung's Korean site, but we wouldn't be surprised to see the new software popping up on devices elsewhere shortly (AT&amp;T's Skyrocket already saw a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/26/ics-upgrade-leaks-for-att-skyrocket/">leaked update in March</a>). According to a tweet from the company, it's still working on an update for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/26/samsung-announces-galaxy-s-ii-lte-and-galaxy-s-ii-hd-lte-handset/">LTE's 720p-screened HD cousin</a> (although we hear <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/14/tizen-gets-play-time-on-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-hd-lte-shows-off-ne/">Tizen already works great</a>), but you can hit the source link for more information.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/15/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-lte-ice-cream-sandwich-update-finally-arrive/">Samsung Galaxy S II LTE Ice Cream Sandwich update finally arrives, GSII HD LTE keeps waiting</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 15 May 2012 05:27:00 EST. As we're accustomed to seeing from carriers across the pond, the trio's pricing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SamsungGalaxySIII/">Sammy's S III</a> with enough flexibility to fit a slew of different budgets; for example, you can snag the 16GB model at no cost with a <span>&pound;41</span> monthly plan on Vodafone. Of course, O2 and Three offer similar plans, with others ranging as high as <span>&pound;219 for the handset</span> but with less of a commitment. Up for offer will be a variety of goods including<span> a flip cover, battery-charging stand, spare battery, car dock, "metallic docking stand" and HDMI adapter. Perhaps most interesting</span> pieces, however, are the <span>AllCast wireless dongle</span> (which appears to be direct competition to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/12/htc-media-link-hd-display-mirroring-box/">HTC's Media Link HD</a> video-mirroring device), a Wireless Charging Kit and an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/s-pebble-hands-on/">S-pebble MP3 player</a> that plays nice with the scan and match feature in the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-launches-new-services-for-the-galaxy-s-iii-music-hub-s/">Music Hub app</a>. We're gathering all the details we can, so in the meantime grab a look at the gallery below. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/">Samsung Galaxy S III accessories</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002413"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037637-1336073616_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002414"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037636-1336073616_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002415"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037635-1336073617_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002416"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037634-1336073617_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-accessories/#5002417"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/201205037633-1336073617_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/">Samsung AllShare Cast accessory for the Galaxy S III</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002447"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-1336074475_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002444"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002443"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002445"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-allshare-cast-accessory-for-the-galaxy-s-iii/#5002446"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/2012-05-03800px-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/">Samsung Galaxy S III flipcase hands-on at Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2012</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002461"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03687mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002462"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03683mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002463"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03685mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002464"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03682mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-flip-case-hands-on-at-samsung-mobile-unpacked-2012/#5002465"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreendsc03681mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-accessories-unveiled/">Samsung unveils Galaxy S III accessories: wireless charger, S-pebble MP3, AllCast wireless dongle in tow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 03 May 2012 14:51:00 EST. In short, TouchWiz is still here, but there are some noticeable differences between it and the legacy version seen on the Galaxy S II that bring the GSIII closer to a stock Android experience. But, there are also some things that are a rehash of what we saw on last year's Gingerbread-powered hardware. We've delved into this latest interpretation, and tried out Sammy's S Voice and S Beam features along the way. Our deeper impressions are after the break, where you'll also find a quick video rundown and can see the new software in action.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-software-impressions/">Samsung Galaxy S III software impressions</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-software-impressions/#5000910"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreenscreenshot2012-05-03-14-23-30mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-software-impressions/#5000921"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreenscreenshot2012-05-03-14-12-14mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-software-impressions/#5000908"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreenscreenshot2012-05-03-14-11-42mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-software-impressions/#5000897"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreenscreenshot2012-05-03-14-29-43mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-software-impressions/#5000898"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gggscreenscreenshot2012-05-03-14-29-49mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-software-hands-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy S III software impressions (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-software-hands-on/">Samsung Galaxy S III software impressions (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 03 May 2012 14:05:00 EST. A phone so good they launched it, well, a whole load of times. But after seeing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">phablet cousins</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/26/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-lte-arrives-in-japan-ntt-docomo-offers-up-i/">LTE variants</a>, the <em>true</em> handset sequel is finally here. The Galaxy S III is moments away from being outed in front of journalists and Sammy's business partners in London, but in advance of the big reveal we were given a few hours to acquaint ourselves with the new star away from the crush of the show floor.</p><p> And what did we make of it? In short, Samsung's tried to bring its Galaxy S series in line with (and in some ways, further ahead of) what its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">team-up with Google</a> accomplished. It's added some new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/25/samsung-announces-1-4ghz-exynos-4-quad-as-basis-for-galaxy-s3/">quad-core Exynos</a> processing juice, a 4.8-inch, HD Super AMOLED screen and a handful of Galaxy S III-only features in an earnest bid to maintain its place at the top of the Android pile. You'll find our detailed impressions and a hands-on video just after the break.</p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/">Samsung Galaxy S III preview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999134"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre01eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999135"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre02eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999136"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre03eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999137"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre04eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview/#4999138"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/gs3pre05eng_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/">Samsung Galaxy S III vs. Galaxy Nexus</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001172"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/dsc0193_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-nexus-2012-05-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001173"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-nexus-2012-05-021_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001174"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-nexus-2012-05-022_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-vs-galaxy-nexus/#5001175"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/05/galaxy-s-iii-nexus-2012-05-023_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview-hands-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy S III preview: hands-on with the next Android superphone (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/03/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-preview-hands-on/">Samsung Galaxy S III preview: hands-on with the next Android superphone (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 03 May 2012 14:00:00 EST. We're tempted to posit that question to Samsung as it clears room in its crowded product portfolio for yet another Galaxy Tab. One month after announcing it at Mobile World Congress, the outfit's bringing its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/samsung-announces-galaxy-tab-2-android-4.0/">7-inch sequel</a> to the masses. As if Sammy's Galaxy Tab lineup weren't already overflowing, this guy comes bearing internals that make it near-identical to the OG Galaxy Tab and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/21/samsung-galaxy-tab-7-0-plus-review/">7.0 Plus</a> that have come before it.<br /> <br /> A few specs, though, have seen downgrades: the front-facing camera now has VGA resolution, and the dual-core TI OMAP processor powering it is clocked at a lower 1GHz. Still, the 1024 x 600 TFT LCD display remains intact, as does the 3-megapixel rear camera, microSD slot and IR blaster. It's a puzzling hardware refresh ushering in modest tweaks to a proven design, with the biggest change of all being the move to Ice Cream Sandwich (with TouchWiz, of course). Is that software upgrade alone compelling enough to warrant an entirely new piece of hardware in Samsung's lineup? Maybe, maybe not. It all comes down to price, and at $250 this WiFi-only tablet could give consumers with Kindle Fire ire something to talk about. Follow past the break to see what we mean.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-1/">Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-1/#4955488"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/jrv3dsc03471_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-1/#4955486"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/jrv1dsc03465_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-1/#4955489"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/jrv4dsc03473_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-1/#4955490"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/jrv5dsc03482_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-1/#4955491"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/04/jrv6dsc03483_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/11/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/11/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-review/">Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 11 Apr 2012 19:00:00 EST. According to (supposed) internal memos leaked from both companies to <em>Mobile Syrup</em>, it appears as though Bell's planning to release the 5.3-inch device on April 10th, while Telus may let it loose as soon as tomorrow. Notably, the site also mentions that you'll be looking at an unchanged entry-fee of $200 with a three-year contract or $730 if you'd prefer the phone sans strings. It likely won't be long until this <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/unicorn/">unicorn's</a> northerly arrival gets confirmed for sure, but for now, drag your cursor over to the source links below for a shot of the Bell document and further insight.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/03/samsung-white-galaxy-note-telus-bell-canada/">Is Samsung's white Galaxy Note coming to Canada on Telus tomorrow, Bell on April 10?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 Apr 2012 22:21:00 EST. Yet every year, despite this cultural contrast, mobile's best, brightest and even little known descend upon Barcelona to showcase the incoming tide of next-gen wares. It's a wonder, then, that for all the bombast and spectacle, Samsung, a titan in the cluttered Android field, chose to occupy a sizable swathe of the event's booth real estate with a glut of mid-range and less-than-fresh devices. Save for one <em>notable</em> product.<br /><br />Without the halo of its still secret unicorn, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/galaxysiii">Galaxy S III</a>, to power the brand's visibility, the company turned the spotlight on its other flagship -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/galaxy+note+10.1/">Galaxy Note 10.1</a> -- as more of a rightful successor to its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/">O.G. Galaxy Tab</a> of the same size, <em>not</em> the recently debuted <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-hands-on-video/">Tab 2 (10.1)</a>. Confused? That's understandable, but this broad-screened fella's outing marks a stark transition away from the Note as smartphone, established by its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">5.3-inch forebear</a>, to a concrete series of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/s+pen/">S-Pen</a> equipped products. Its beefier dual-core 1.4GHz CPU and 1GB RAM notwithstanding, this is, for all intents and purposes, more of a gentle update than a full-on refresh, as most of the build, screen (1,280 x 800) and camera setup remains virtually unchanged.<br /><br />Solidifying the unit's place atop the industry's top-shelf mantel, is its inclusion of Google's latest <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">ICS OS (4.0.3)</a>, slathered here in a TouchWiz skin, and the addition of two pre-installed S-Pen apps: Adobe PS Touch and Ideas. So, software improvements aside, why should this tablet, an admitted work-in-progress that's lacking the finishing touches of a final production model, occupy a space on your finely tuned tech radar? Why should you devote a portion of your gadget-lusting heart to the promise of a killer device currently lacking any known pricing or availability? Well, to answer those questions, Samsung let us spend some brief, albeit quality time with the Note's in-development next of kin. It will however, arrive worldwide as part of a "Premium Suite" software upgrade packed with exclusive apps meant to highlight its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/s-pen">S-Pen</a> stylus. One of them is S Note, which combines notes and sketches with other apps like Shape Match and Formula Match which are also included to assist recognition of geometric shapes and hand drawn formulas. The final app packed in is My Story, designed to create personalized cards. We're not sure how much use you'll get out of those unless you're a math professor, project manager or just love sending e-cards, but there's one more treat in the form of an exclusive Angry Birds Space level and free access to 30 "Danger Zone" levels for a limited time. Press play on the video above for a peek at the apps -- and the Note's TouchWiz-styled flavor of Android 4.0 -- or check out the press release after the break.<br /><br /><strong>Update (4/12)</strong>: Samsung has swapped out the video for a slightly longer one with "more features and detailed information". Your guess is as good as ours as to what's different, or exactly when the upgrade will arrive, but the new vid is now embedded above.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/22/galaxy-note-ics-upgrade-pushed-back-to-q2-adds-exclusive-set-of/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Galaxy Note ICS upgrade pushed back to Q2, adds exclusive set of stylus-ready apps (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/22/galaxy-note-ics-upgrade-pushed-back-to-q2-adds-exclusive-set-of/">Galaxy Note ICS upgrade pushed back to Q2, adds exclusive set of stylus-ready apps (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 22 Mar 2012 03:11:00 EST. Some take a relatively modest set of specs and add a little wrinkle to make them stand out from the crowd. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/23/samsung-rugby-smart/">Samsung Rugby Smart</a> is one such device. Though it adds Android to what we'll now refer to as the <a href="http://mobile.engadget.com/2008/09/15/samsung-a837-rugby-bows-on-atandt-looking-for-a-fight/">Rugby Dumb</a>, we can already tell you this handset isn't for the spec snobs among you. But, if you're more concerned with durability and tank-like construction, you might want to stick around a while. This AT&amp;T-branded phone is built to mil-spec 810F standards, meaning it's shockproof, dustproof and can be immersed in up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes. If these are qualities you desire in a phone, meet us past the break to see how it stacks up against its competition.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-rugby-smart-review/">Samsung Rugby Smart review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-rugby-smart-review/#4898464"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/03/03-12-2012dsc0094100_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-rugby-smart-review/#4898468"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/03/03-12-2012dsc0094201_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-rugby-smart-review/#4898471"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/03/03-12-2012dsc0095004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-rugby-smart-review/#4898474"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/03/03-12-2012dsc0095206_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-rugby-smart-review/#4898476"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/03/03-12-2012dsc0095307_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/16/samsung-rugby-smart-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Rugby Smart review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/16/samsung-rugby-smart-review/">Samsung Rugby Smart review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 16 Mar 2012 13:00:00 EST. We gave the mid-range handset a thorough <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/samsung-galaxy-s-advance-hands-on-video/">going-over at MWC</a>, where we found it to be attractive for a phone of its modest stature. It's got the usual array of GSM/GPRS/EDGE and vanilla-HSPA bands we'd expect a budget handset to include, as well as WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC. Now that it's emerged from the FCC, we can start hoping a domestic version of the device will arrive, but it's more likely this is just for those weary travelers from far-flung lands.</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/02/samsung-galaxy-s-advance-sets-a-fire-in-the-fcc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy S Advance sets a fire in the FCC</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/02/samsung-galaxy-s-advance-sets-a-fire-in-the-fcc/">Samsung Galaxy S Advance sets a fire in the FCC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 02 Mar 2012 19:08:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/28/samsung-galaxy-ace-2-hands-on-video/">Ace 2</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/28/samsung-galaxy-mini-2-hands-on-video/">Mini 2</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/samsung-galaxy-s-advance-hands-on-video/">S Advance</a> and <em>now</em>, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/03/samsung-outs-revamped-galaxy-ace-plus-bigger-screen-worse-reso/">Ace Plus</a>? It's a wonder anyone at the company can still keep track. Unfortunately, this particular Android offshoot is a bit of a stinker, saddled with a pitiful 3.65-inch 480 x 320 display that does the opposite of the usual, saturated OLED-impress, offering no other spec distraction from its lower pixel density. Like its aforementioned cousins, the device runs a TouchWiz skin atop Android Gingerbread 2.3.6, powered by a single 1GHz processor that does an acceptable job moving things along without that essential dual-core briskness. And while Sammy's plastic builds are normally balanced out by superior software performance, here the chintzy look and feel of the unit and its overgrown silver trim further confirm its place as a budget entry. For now, the phone appears to be an overseas-only affair, as it's already hit global markets this past January. Follow on past the break for a video tour of this forgettable pint-sizer.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-ace-plus-hands-on/">Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-ace-plus-hands-on/#4858024"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/aceplusdsc02910mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-ace-plus-hands-on/#4858025"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/aceplusdsc02911mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-ace-plus-hands-on/#4858028"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/aceplusdsc02914mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-ace-plus-hands-on/#4858029"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/aceplusdsc02915mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-ace-plus-hands-on/#4858030"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/aceplusdsc02916mat800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/samsung-galaxy-ace-plus-hands-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus hands-on (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/samsung-galaxy-ace-plus-hands-on-video/">Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus hands-on (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 29 Feb 2012 14:37:00 EST. Announced back in January, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/30/samsung-galaxy-s-advance-smartphone-announced/">Galaxy S Advance</a> falls solidly on the middle of the OEM's consumer scale, delivering a speedy 1GHz dual-core experience on a build of Android 2.3.6. Naturally, the device comes outfitted with TouchWiz, but that skin doesn't get in the way of the apparent snappy performance, as we noticed navigation, transitions and browsing all carried on without a hiccup. As you might've guessed, the saturated, 4-inch 800 x 480 display is of the Super AMOLED variety, so you won't have much difficulty viewing the screen from a variety of angles. And while the construction is a typical plastic enclosure with subtly textured back, the combination of its light weight and thin profile conspire to make this one attractive purchase. A <em>mostly</em> global roll out's already underway, though sadly, the US isn't included on that select list. But with the arrival of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/11/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-review/">Galaxy Tab 2 7.0</a>, it appears the popular Android manufacturer has an ace in its sleeve. The slate leaps past its cousins with the latest build of Ice Cream Sandwich out of the gate, although it still reps the same 1024 x 600 PLS TFT display, 3-megapixel rear camera, 4,000mAh battery and dual-core setup. We had a chance to get a real feel for the tablet, so join us after the break as we parse through our initial impressions.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-hands-on/">Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-hands-on/#4854736"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/jrv1dsc01911_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-hands-on/#4854739"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/jrv4dsc01914_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-hands-on/#4854743"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/jrv8dsc01918_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-hands-on/#4854745"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/jrv10dsc01920_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-hands-on/#4854747"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/jrv12dsc01922_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-hands-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 hands-on (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/29/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-hands-on-video/">Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 hands-on (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 29 Feb 2012 06:10:00 EST. What annoying little issues do you wish the company had ironed out before shipping? Is there anything you like about the device you want to share with people? This week we want your opinions on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9 -- the niche offering for people unable to decide between the 10.1, 7.7 or the 7-inch versions of the same. When <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/10/samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-review/">we reviewed it</a>, we found it to be virtually indistinguishable to its larger sibling: it was 10 percent smaller and 10 percent cheaper, and that was about it. But is that the whole story? Now you've had a few months to stew over your purchase, how have you found it? If Samsung was hawkishly watching the comments below, what would you say? How would you change it?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/26/how-would-you-change-the-samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9/">How would you change the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 26 Feb 2012 22:27:00 EST. Aside from bumping up the screen resolution of its LCD to 1280 x 800, from 1024 x 600 on the 7.0, the 10.1 features the same 1Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, front and rear cameras (VGA and 3-megapixels, respectively) and 21Mbps HSPA+ connectivity if you opt for the 3G model instead of WiFi. The 10.1-incher notably comes equipped with a 7,000 mAh battery (up from 4,000 on the 7.0), which will hopefully ensure stamina that's similar to its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/">predecessor</a>. The slate is unsurprisingly loaded with TouchWiz-flavored <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/01/android-4-0-ice-cream-sandwich-review/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a>, and will be offered in 16 and 32GB models (expandable by up to 32GB if you supply your own microSD card). There's no word on pricing just yet, but Sammy plans to start selling all 10.1-inches of this treat during March in the UK -- and you can bet we'll get our own in-person hands-on while we're traversing the show floor here at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc2012/">MWC</a>. For now, you'll find full details about the slate in the press release after the break and press images in the gallery below. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1/">Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1/#4842592"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/samsunggalaxytab10102_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1/#4842593"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/samsunggalaxytab10103_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1/#4842594"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/samsunggalaxytab10104_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1/#4842681"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxytab210.1productimage3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/25/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-officially-unveiled-at-mwc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung announces the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/25/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-10-1-officially-unveiled-at-mwc/">Samsung announces the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 25 Feb 2012 22:00:00 EST. The tiny tablet was unveiled last month and now it's starting to hit shelves in Germany with its lawsuit-circumventing redesign in place. It's a little later than anticipated, but our friends in Deutschland can now pick up the tweaked Tabs starting at &euro;499 for a 16GB WiFi version, while an HSPA+ model will set TouchWiz fans back &euro;569.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/samsung-galaxy-tab-7-0n-starts-shipping-in-germany/">Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0N starts shipping in Germany</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 16:24:00 EST. It was also said that if the software on that device contained a task manager that coders had similarly missed the mark. The Samsung Galaxy Note on AT&amp;T contains what many would consider a stylus and, if you hold down the Home button, you're presented with what can only be described as a task manager.<br /><br />So the Galaxy Note, Samsung's massive 5.3-inch "superphone," is critically flawed then, right? No. It is, in fact, one of the best phones to hit the market since another Samsung powerhouse -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/24/galaxy-nexus-hspa-review/">Galaxy Nexus</a>. It's a device with a lot to love and is the kind of phone that would make almost every Android aficionado swoon. However, with its massive 5.3-inch display and generally understated styling, it isn't for everybody. We reviewed it before in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">European guise</a>, but now read on to see if AT&amp;T's $300 LTE version of this big brute is just right for you.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/">Ceramic White AT&amp;T Galaxy Note LTE overview</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821309"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite41_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821269"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821277"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821270"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/galaxy-note-lte-ceramic-white-overview/#4821271"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2012/02/galaxynoteltewhite03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/atandt-galaxy-note-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>AT&amp;T Galaxy Note review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/atandt-galaxy-note-review/">AT&amp;T Galaxy Note review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 12:00:00 EST. That's a new one to us. The pinch of salt you should take this with could rim the entire nation's margarita glasses for a year, but hints have come from more than one source now that Samsung has an up-sized styli-friendly slate in the works. The unconfirmed device was listed on the Samsung site, alongside the standard Note, Wave 3 and Wave Y as being highlighted at a developer event at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc">MWC</a>. We'd have ignored it and written it off as a typo if it wasn't for a listing at <em>Backstage</em> looking for "teen student" to use "his Galaxy Note 10.1." Intriguing, no? Even more suspicious, both the casting call and the developer day listing have been removed. Of course, it's entirely possible that both appearances of the Note 10.1 were simple typos but, we won't lie, we're <em>really</em> hoping a larger sized slate with an S Pen.<br /><br /><strong>Update: </strong>Samsung told us that it doesn't "comment on future product announcements." Looks like we'll have to wait.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/samsung-galaxy-note-10-1-to-debut-at-mwc-definitely-maybe/">Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to debut at MWC? The GT-P7320, better known as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/10/samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-review/">Galaxy Tab 8.9</a>, just passed through the Global Certification Forum, bound for unspecified EU nation. This particular model supports both HSPA on the 900MHz and 2100MHz bands, and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/14/dnp-lte-galaxy-tab-8-9-coming-to-atandt-on-november-20th-for-480/">LTE</a> over 800MHz and 2.6GHz. Carrier, release date, price -- pretty much everything about the device's debut is a mystery at this point. But, with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/mwc">Mobile World Congress</a> just a couple of weeks away, we're sure it won't hold on to its secrets for long.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/lte-equipped-galaxy-tab-8-9-gets-european-approval/">LTE-equipped Galaxy Tab 8.9 gets European approval</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 09:25:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/24/samsung-debuts-new-galaxy-lineup-refines-naming-strategy-along/">Samsung</a> is rolling out a pair of dual-SIM blowers for everyone who wants to keep their working and private lives separate, or take advantage of constantly changing carrier deals. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/14/samsung-galaxy-y-available-now-from-vodafone-uk/">Galaxy Y </a>Duos packs a 3.14-inch QVGA (243 x 320) touchscreen, HSDPA modem, three megapixel camera, microSD storage that's expandable up to 32GB and an 832MHz processor that runs TouchWiz flavored Gingerbread. The Galaxy Y Pro Duos' only difference is its smaller 2.6-inch LQVGA TFT screen, to make space for the physical keyboard below. Both models will be available from January in Europe, Russia, Latin America, Asia, Africa and China and while there's no word on pricing, the specs suggest it won't be high. Head on past the break for the deep dish (or as some <em>squares</em> like to call it, "press release").</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/22/samsung-launches-two-dual-sim-galaxy-y-phones-for-carrier-cheate/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung launches two dual-sim Galaxy Y phones for carrier cheaters</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/22/samsung-launches-two-dual-sim-galaxy-y-phones-for-carrier-cheate/">Samsung launches two dual-sim Galaxy Y phones for carrier cheaters</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 22 Dec 2011 06:55:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/qwerty%20slider/">QWERTY slider</a> hasn't exactly gone the way of the dinosaur, but it's definitely approaching giant panda status. That is to say, it's become rare for a major device manufacturer to output anything other than candybar touchscreen smartphones. And why not? Slimmer, faster, beastlier is the mobile motto as of late and that's precisely what consumers seem to gravitate towards. But for diehard fans of tactile feedback, Samsung's birthed the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/captivate+glide/">Captivate Glide</a>, a handset that marries the best of both form factors. Sitting just below its high-end brethren, Sammy's 4-incher runs along AT&amp;T's 21Mbps HSPA+ network and bundles an 800 x 480 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/superamoled">Super AMOLED</a> display with a dual-core 1GHz <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/tegra%202">Tegra 2</a> processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a 1,650mAh battery, WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 1.3MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear camera capable of 720p video capture. At $150 on a two-year contract, it's just half a Benjamin short of the top-tier, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/14/atandt-expanding-lte-to-15-markets-on-november-20th/">LTE-capable</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/09/htc-vivid-review/">HTC Vivid</a>. With that small of a price divide, you have to wonder: is the downgrade really worth it for the Captivate Glide's (comparatively) slower speeds and physical buttons? <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/17/samsung-stratosphere-review/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/20111213-23245836--dsc07423.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 4px;" /></a></div>
Once upon a time, in the not-so-distant past, Verizon was still in phase one of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/LTE/">LTE lineup</a>, which consisted of nothing but 4.3-inch slate phones with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/25/htc-thunderbolt-said-to-have-terrible-battery-life-might-explai/">questionable battery life</a> and very little to stand out from the rest of the competition. Now that we're seeing the second generation of devices coming into the 4G fold, Big Red appears to be pushing choice -- not just in terms of size and feel, but price as well. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/03/pantech-breakout-review/">Pantech Breakout</a> was the first to, well, <i>break out</i> of the mold, offering a smaller form factor for a much more reasonable cost. It was nothing to write home about, but the fact that it existed gave us hope that we'd see a slew of phones in the same price range, finally making high-speed connectivity a more affordable option.<br />
<br />
Shortly afterward, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/SamsungStratosphere/">Samsung Stratosphere</a> sneaked up and snatched the spotlight away from Pantech, offering the very first QWERTY keyboard on an LTE-capable device for a cost similar to that of the Breakout. But when we <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/12/samsung-stratosphere-for-verizon-hands-on-at-ctia-eanda-2011-vide/">first saw</a> the phone, something felt eerily familiar: it looked almost exactly like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/16/epic-4g-review/">Epic 4G</a>, a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/GalaxyS/">Galaxy S</a>-era device that was released on Sprint's WiMAX lineup nearly a year and a half ago. Looks are one thing, but what about the internals? Does the brand new Stratosphere perform like an old phone, or does it give a completely fresh perspective on a 2010 classic? Read on for the full scoop.<br />

Where do they turn when looking for an app-running, connected media player -- basically a smartphone without the phone? Well, believe it or not, there are a few options out there (like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/23/philips-android-based-gogear-connect-pmp-now-available-for-pre/">Philips GoGear</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/12/cowon-d3-firmware-hits-3-5-gives-your-gingerbread-pmp-a-spit-sh/">Cowon's D3</a>) And one of the premier lines is certainly Samsung's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/17/galaxy-player-4-0-and-5-0-land-on-shelves-deliver-gingerbread-w/">Galaxy Player</a> offerings which, as the name implies, borrow a few things from their beloved cellphone siblings. There's both a 4.0 ($230) and a 5.0 ($270) model which have four- and five-inch screens, respectively, but, besides the size, the two are practically identical in the specs department. We toyed with the smaller Galaxy Player 4.0 for a couple of weeks and our thoughts on Sammy's (somewhat pricier) answer to the iPod touch are right after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-player-4-0-review/">Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-player-4-0-review/#4664413"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/tmo2011-12-0505-10-45gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-player-4-0-review/#4664411"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/tmo2011-12-0505-08-41gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-player-4-0-review/#4664412"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/tmo2011-12-0505-08-43gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-player-4-0-review/#4664441"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/tmo2011-12-0602-39-00gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-player-4-0-review/#4664440"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/12/tmo2011-12-0602-38-18gal_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/12/galaxy-player-4-0-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Galaxy Player 4.0 review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/12/galaxy-player-4-0-review/">Galaxy Player 4.0 review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 12 Dec 2011 10:00:00 EST. 	<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/21/samsung-galaxy-tab-7-0-plus-review/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/11/imerj2011-11-17-600-8.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 4px;" /></a></div>
We've already established that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/">Galaxy Tab 10.1</a> is a great tablet. Then, just recently, we summarily found that the 1.2-inch smaller <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/10/samsung-galaxy-tab-8-9-review/">Galaxy Tab 8.9</a> is an even <em>better</em> tablet -- at least for anyone who wants to take their slate places. So, following that logic, the even more petite Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus should be the best of the three, right?<br />
<br />
Not so fast. We've been here before, and things weren't exactly great. The original <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/01/samsung-galaxy-tab-review/">Galaxy Tab</a> was, of course, a 7-incher and wasn't universally well received thanks to a number of problems -- the first being a $600 MSRP. Another issue was an Android 2.2 build that tried its best but was ultimately ill-suited for tablet duties. This new 7-inch installment packs a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, a tablet-friendlier build of Android 3.2 Honeycomb and a somewhat more palatable $400 price tag.<br />
<br />
So, it's clearly better equipped than its predecessor, but that one shipped a whopping 12 months ago. How does the newer, fancier Tab compete in this newer, fancier present? Read on to find out.<br />

Two flavors of TouchWiz and an oddly-dimensioned handset are making their way to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ATT/">AT&amp;T's</a> lineup come next week. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/14/samsung-captivate-glide-and-doubletime-hands-on/">Sammy's QWERTY duo</a>, the Tegra 2-powered Captivate Glide and Froyo-based Doubletime, along with Pantech's uniquely formed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/12/pantech-pocket-for-atandt-hands-on-at-ctia-eanda-2011-video/">Pocket</a> will make their US carrier debut on November 20th, offering a little bit of everything for Joe Consumer. There's no official word on the contracted pricing for this Android trio, but you shouldn't have to wait much longer for that essential bit of info.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update:</strong> And just like that, official pricing for AT&amp;T's latest trio has arrived. If you're curious, both the Pocket and Doubletime will retail for $50, while Sammy's Captivate Glide will set you back a solid $150. Naturally, each of these figures assume you'll sign a new contract. If you're of the skeptical type, just hop the break for confirmation.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/14/samsung-captivate-glide-doubletime-and-pantech-pocket-join-atandt/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Captivate Glide, Doubletime and Pantech Pocket join AT&amp;T's Android brigade on November 20th</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/14/samsung-captivate-glide-doubletime-and-pantech-pocket-join-atandt/">Samsung Captivate Glide, Doubletime and Pantech Pocket join AT&amp;T's Android brigade on November 20th</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 14 Nov 2011 17:17:00 EST. Samsung's got a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/11/atandt-starts-ctia-off-right-by-introducing-five-new-smartphones-t/">pair of QWERTY-sporting Android handsets</a> heading to AT&amp;T, targeting distinctly different different ends of the smartphone spectrum. Sure, both the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/captivateglide">Captivate Glide</a> and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/doubletime">DoubleTime</a> attempt to woo messaging addicts with their physical keyboards, but that's about where the similarities end. The Glide is packing a full gig of RAM, a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, 8GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel camera (plus a 1.3MP front-facing cam), Gingerbread slathered with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/touchwiz">TouchWiz</a> and a 4-inch Super AMOLED display. The 800 x 480 panel isn't the best we've ever seen, but it's brightness and superb contrast certainly don't disappoint. Like many Samsung handsets, the Glide is surprisingly light thanks to its all plastic construction, but the textured battery plate and satisfyingly firm sliding mechanism keep it from feeling cheap. The landscape keyboard is quite pleasant. The keys don't have much travel, but they're well spaced and we had no trouble quickly banging out a bunch of texts right away.<br />

What is the optimal size for a modern-day tablet? Is it 10 inches? Is it seven? Or, is it something smaller, like the economy-sized smartphone that is the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">Galaxy Note</a>? We can't say for sure, but we surely can say that Samsung is as much in the dark as we are. Like a gadgety Goldilocks traipsing between an endless sea of options, that company seems completely unable to make up its mind, splitting niches into sub-niches and then cleaving those in twain again with a seemingly endless array of fractionally different tablets.<br />
<br />
Today we're looking at the Galaxy Tab 8.9. This powerful slate exists because, apparently, the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/08/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/">Galaxy Tab 10.1</a> is too big and the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/galaxytab7.0plus">Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus</a> is too small. Is the $449 8.9 just right, then? Read on to find out.<br />

If you've been chatting on the go for as long as we have, it was probably barely big enough to fit a complete telephone number -- let alone a contact name or text message. And your first smartphone? Even displaying scaled-down, WAP versions of web pages was asking a lot. Now, those mobile devices we couldn't live without have screens that are much, much larger. Sometimes, though, we secretly wish they were even bigger still.<br /><br /><div class="follow_this_in_post" style="padding-top: 10px"> <img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/11/more_info_header_1.gif" /><br /> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/01/samsung-releases-1-5ghz-exynos-processor-and-16mp-cmos-for-mobil/">Samsung releases 1.5GHz Exynos processor and 16MP CMOS for mobiles, if you're nice</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/27/samsungs-galaxy-s-ii-for-t-mobile-proves-that-unicorns-do-exist/">Samsung's Galaxy S II for T-Mobile proves that unicorns do exist (hands-on video)</a></div> <div class="ftip_links"> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/01/samsung-galaxy-note-official-5-3-inch-super-amoled-display-s/">Samsung Galaxy Note announced: 5.3-inch display, built-in-stylus, custom 'S Pen' apps</a></div></div>Samsung's new GT-N7000 Galaxy Note is the handset those dreams are made of -- if you happen to share that dream about obnoxiously large smartphones, that is. It's as thin as a Galaxy S II, lightning fast and its 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display is as gorgeous as it is enormous; the 1280 x 800 pixels you once could only get with a full-size laptop (or in the Galaxy Tab 10.1) can now slide comfortably into your front pocket. Its jumbo display makes it the perfect candidate for a notepad replacement and, with the included S Pen stylus, you'll have no problem jotting notes on the fly, marking up screenshots or signing documents electronically. But, is that <em>massive</em> display too much of a good thing? You'll need to jump past the break to find out.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">Samsung Galaxy Note review</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4565182"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/note2011-10-27800px-32_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4565275"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt72_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4564484"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/1-1319774316_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4564485"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/2-1319774316_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-review/#4564486"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/3-1319774317_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/">Samsung Galaxy Note vs. Galaxy S II</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565313"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt73_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565314"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt74_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565315"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt75_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565317"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt77_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/samsung-galaxy-note-vs-galaxy-s-ii-0/#4565318"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2011/10/galaxynotereviewalt80_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Samsung Galaxy Note review</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/28/samsung-galaxy-note-review/">Samsung Galaxy Note review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 28 Oct 2011 07:15:00 EST. Nearly a month after its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/30/samsung-unveils-galaxy-tab-7-0-plus-packing-1-2ghz-dual-core-cp/">initial announcement</a>, Samsung's ready to deliver the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus to the good ol' US of A just in time for the winter gift-giving season. The WiFi-only device, which packs a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU with 1GB of RAM, Android 3.2, 3MP camera with 720p HD video capture and a 7-inch LCD with 1024 x 600 resolution, will be begging for your credit card as of November 13th at Best Buy, Amazon and other retailers. Are you an early adopter? No prob -- you'll have the opportunity to pre-order yours at "select retailers" this coming Sunday, though no specific outlets were called out by name. The 16GB is the only version arriving so far, but Sammy told us to expect the 32GB flavor later this year or early 2012 (likely for $499, if yesterday's brief <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/20/galaxy-tab-7-0-plus-ready-for-your-pre-orders-sticky-with-honey/">appearance on Amazon</a> is any indicator). <p>
	Having <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/11/samsung-galaxy-tab-7-plus-wifi-approved-by-fcc/">passed</a> the FCC's critical eye, and hot on the heels of Samsung's now official <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/18/samsungs-galaxy-nexus-gets-official-android-4-0-4-65-inch-hd/">love-in</a> with Google, the Korean manufacturer's pint-sized tablet refresh is now up for pre-ordering. Priced at $399 for the 16GB model (or $499 for 32GB), Amazon remains tight-lipped on release date info, but is more than happy to tell us what we'll get for that wad of notes. That includes Android Honeycomb 3.2, and a dual-core 1.2GHz processor -- a substantial jump up from the single 1GHz processor we had with the original Galaxy Tab. If Samsung can promise a swift <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/IceCreamSandwich/">Ice Cream Sandwich</a> upgrade, we could well be sold.<br />

That's because some fuzzy details are now leaking out about its inevitable successor, the mystical Galaxy S III. The leaked presentation slide above, uncovered by <em>Phandroid</em>, shows a phone that's packing a 1.8GHz dual-core Exynos 4212 CPU with 2GB of RAM and a 12 megapixel rear-facing camera. Oh, and a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD display isn't too shabby either. If this ends up being true, we're a bit puzzled by the inclusion of four buttons on the bottom -- a departure from the first two <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/">Galaxy S</a> devices -- and why the slide refers to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/16/samsung-galaxy-s-preview/">original Galaxy S</a> as running on an Exynos processor, rather than Hummingbird. Color us a shade of skeptic since we're still a few months out from CES and MWC, but it's never too early to start getting excited over an upcoming device, right?<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> One other piece of evidence that leads us to believe this is fake is the fact that the term "Super AMOLED Plus HD" is used; if this were real, Samsung would likely use its proper terminology, which is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/01/samsung-galaxy-note-official-5-3-inch-super-amoled-display-s/">HD Super AMOLED</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/10/details-on-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii-leak-out-1-8ghz-dual-core-c/">Details on the Samsung Galaxy S III leak out: 1.8GHz dual-core CPU and 12MP camera? Here comes the second episode of a thrilling three-part saga. Not content with simply selling <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/25/samsung-moves-10-million-galaxy-s-iis-pats-itself-on-the-back/">ten million units</a> of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review/">GT-I9100</a> -- its flagship device -- in the course of the last five months, Samsung's ready to flood the good ol' US of A with a healthy dose of the Galaxy S II, and it has three carriers -- Sprint, AT&amp;T and T-Mobile -- already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/30/galaxy-s-ii-for-sprint-atandt-and-t-mobile-hands-on/">signed up on the dotted line</a>. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/15/samsung-epic-4g-touch-review/">Epic 4G Touch</a> has already made its way into stores (not to mention the hearts of customers), and Ma Bell's next in line to appease the masses.<br />
<br />
This time, things are a smidge different. Whereas Sprint opted to enlarge the screen and add in a few other select design tweaks, it appears that AT&amp;T wanted to keep its variant -- appropriately named the Galaxy S II -- as close to the international smash hit as possible, opting for the same display size, squared corners and battery (albeit, with a twist). As it turns out, the tweaks are much more subtle than they were on last year's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/22/samsung-galaxy-s-review-shootout-captivate-for-atandt-and-vibrant/">Samsung Captivate</a>, which arguably looked almost nothing like the original Galaxy S. So does AT&amp;T's model fit in with its two close compadres? Was its design choice the right decision for this go-round? Follow us below to get the full scoop.<br />

	<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/samsung/">Samsung</a> has just unveiled a rather unexpected addition to its fleet of tablets, with the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. Available in both 16GB and 32GB varieties, this new slate is fueled by a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb and features a seven-inch LCD with 1024 x 600 resolution. It also packs a two megapixel front-facing camera, along with a three megapixel shooter that supports 720p video, boasts 1GB of RAM and ships with Sammy's TouchWiz UI baked-in. In terms of connectivity, you'll find support for quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 3G with 21Mbps HSPA and the usual smattering of Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS capabilities. In addition, this little guy offers WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n at both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, along with support for channel bonding and apt-X Codec for Bluetooth. Pricing has yet to be announced, but the 7.0 Plus is slated to hit Indonesia and Austria by the end of October, before rolling out internationally. Slide past the break for more details, in the full PR, or check out the gallery below for more images.</div>
