Amazon's attempts to pitch its own brand at Whole Foods will clearly extend well beyond pop-up stores. The internet retailer has announced that its deal-serving Treasure Trucks are starting to appear at "various" Whole Foods Market stores across the US, giving you a chance to pick up discounted products (ordered through the Amazon mobile app) while you're shopping for produce. This isn't just about advertising Amazon, though.

If I said the words "Christmas" and "truck," what would you think of? The Coca-Cola advert, possibly? Well, this holiday season Amazon hopes you'll think about its "Treasure Truck" instead. It's a big blue machine that will be touring London, Manchester and other parts of the UK. Inside are special deals that you can only buy through the Amazon app. Here's how it works: You text "truck" to 87377, then wait for a message detailing the day's "treasure." If you like it, you can buy it through the app (under Programs and Features, followed by Treasure Truck) and pick it up in town.

Are you still pining for the elusive NES Classic Edition a few months after its abrupt discontinuation? If you're in the right US city and act quickly, you might have a chance. Amazon's Treasure Trucks in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Seattle are offering the retro console at its original $60 price as part of a one-day sale on July 29th. You just have to order from the Amazon app and pick one of the trucks as your pickup point. The offer is only available from 11AM to 5PM local time, and only while stocks last, but this may be your best (and possibly last) opportunity to get the Classic without being gouged by a third-party reseller or online auction. And if you miss out? Well, there's always the SNES Classic.

Who doesn't like a deal? Amazon is pretty sure everyone does, so it's taking its retail presence on the road this summer with its Treasure Truck. "At Treasure Truck, we hand-pick our favorite new, trending, local or delicious items, load them on the Truck, then cruise around town spreading joy for everyone with a smartphone and an appetite for fun," Amazon writes.

You can't really accuse Amazon of being afraid to try something new. While we await drone-powered deliveries, Amazon is launching a new service called "Treasure Truck" that's basically the equivalent of a neighborhood ice cream truck for killer deals. Starting this weekend in Seattle, you'll be able to see the Treasure Truck's daily deal on Amazon's mobile shopping app. Once purchased, you can meet up with the treasure truck at a predetermined time slot and location to collect your bounty. It's like an evolved form of the daily deal phenomenon combined with Amazon's push towards fast deliveries (except this time you're doing more legwork). The Treasure Truck's first offering is a $99 Solstice Bali paddleboard set, which typically retails for $480. We can't imagine this is a very scalable service for Amazon -- in Seattle it's focusing on "popular neighborhoods" -- but it's yet another sign of the insane logistical advantages the company has over the competition.
