Samsung U200 all-in-one desktop hands-on
Here's another exhibit that we could (literally) touch at the British Museum today -- Samsung's new all-in-one touchscreen PC, the U200. We won't go into another pixel density rant about the 20-inch, but the colors and optical touch sensitivity were good. As for the keyboard, it seemed to have similar issues we dealt with on the P580 laptop, but at least you can just throw it out and get a better one with the U200. Samsung unveils 23-inch U250 and 20-inch U200 multitouch all-in-one PCs
Eager for more of Samsung's outlay? Good. Officially unveiled today over in the UK, the company's new 23-inch U250 and 20-inch U200 all-in-one PCs are going where loads of AIO machines already have: the multitouch galaxy. The former offers up a full 1080p resolution, while the latter steps down to 1,600 x 900; both of 'em ship with Windows 7 Home Premium, and the company would have you know that these two mark its "first venture into the home PC market in the UK." Regrettably, the excitement was tempered by the lack of a real specification sheet, but we're told they'll ship later this month for those who couldn't care less about nuts, bolts, gigahertz and megabytes.
Video: 12-inch MSI Wind U210 gets a thorough going over
As long-time Engadget readers know, there is nothing so riveting, or for that matter so wildly sensual, as a laptop unboxing in a foreign language. That's why we're proud to present you with this video of an MSI Wind U210 being unboxed and manhandled as only the kids at BlogEee can do it: en Francais! But that's not all, they give it a pretty thorough going over as well (with a more than extensive gallery to boot). As far as looks go, this is pretty much a typical Wind: plastics are identical to the U100, and while small details may differ "the resemblance is still striking." Even though not a "netbook," the site ranks the 12.1-inch laptop rather high on the portability scale -- after all, it is only 1.46 inches longer and 100 grams heavier than its precursor. MSI Wind U200 gets €499 price tag, up for pre-order
If you've been eagerly waiting for the MSI Wind U200 to hit the shelves, we finally have some news: According to the lovely and delightful Fudzilla, the 12.1-inch Celeron ULV 723-powered device will be hitting retailers and e-tailers 'round Europe next week, with a roughly €499 ($716) price tag. What are your hard-earned Euros getting you in this case? 2GB of memory, 250GB hard drive, a 6-cell battery, and HDMI and D-Sub outputs, for starters. MSI Wind U200 gets the hands-on video treatment
We already got a pretty good look at MSI's new 12-inch Wind U200 at its debut at Computex in Taipei, but the folks at NewGadgets.de have had a chance to spend a bit more quality time with the not-quite-a-netbook, and they've thankfully provided a hands-on video (in both English and German no less). While they aren't offering much in the way of actual impressions just yet, they do provide a fairly thorough overview of the device, and even discover a working SIM card slot in the battery compartment, along with a mysterious rubber plug on the side that may or may not actually conceal something. MSI Wind U200 gets official, handled in Taipei
Oh hey, guess what else Engadget Chinese got hands-on with today? The MSI Wind U200 that leaked yesterday. Official specs on the Wind U100 followup are just like we said: 12-inch, 1366 x 768 pixel LED-backlit display, Celeron ULV SFF 723 processor, GMA 4500M graphics, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, 2GB of DDR2 memory, and 250GB disk, and 1.4-kg with 3-cell battery. Still no pricing or release but we're sure that Computex (kicking off June 2nd) will change all that.
12-inch MSI U200 thin-and-light appears a day early?
Well, well, look what we've got; a new CULV-based thin-and-light laptop from MSI. The image comes by way of Engadget Chinese whose trusted source lays out the following specs: a 12-inch, 1366 x 768 pixel LED-backlit display, with GMA 4500M integrated graphics, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, 2GB of DDR2 memory, and 250GB disk all wrapped up in a bigger-than-a-netbook but not-quite-a-laptop chassis weighing just 1.4-kgs (3-pounds) with paltry 3-cell battery. We expect pricing to be announced tomorrow but we'll bet dollars to doughnuts that it'll be about $700.
Samsung i200 now available for all your Windows Mobile Standard needs
Samsung's UK outpost has sounded the alarm that the all-business i200 candybar imbued with Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard Edition is now available at retail. Though not ugly, Sammy certainly didn't put much effort into making this one beautiful -- hence our "all-business" tag -- and the 3.6Mbps HSDPA 2100 should go a long way toward putting it in the breast pockets of a few three-piece suits out there. Interested parties should expect to shell out about €399 ($626) when they go seeking it out.[Via the::unwired]
Toshiba's Satellite U200 ultra-portable
With Apple and Sony generating all the portable hubbub bub, let's take a moment to check-in on some of those other laptop manufactures. Toshiba, for instance, just dropped their new U200 series of ultra-portables into their Satellite range where quality and affordability are meant to merge. Starting at just 4.1-pounds and measuring-in at 1.4-inches thick, this 12.1-inch laptop maxes-out with a 2.16GHz Core Duo T2600 CPU, 4GB DDR2 RAM, 100GB of 7200 RPM SATA disk and still manages to slap in a pair of stereo speakers, 6-in-1 media adapter, fingerprint reader, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, and DVD dual-layer writer. All that goodness and yet they only offer measly Intel 950 graphics acceleration. Of course, if you can only muster the $929 starting price, your config will drop considerably to a Celeron M, 256MB RAM, 40GB disk, and CD-RW/DVD-ROM sans Bluetooth or WiFi. Yeah we were thinking the same, that entry-level $1,099 MacBook or $699 Dell D520 are both looking pretty sweet right about now. [Via CoreDuoInfo]
