Now that it's legal for George Takei to get married in Iowa, what better way to celebrate than by letting your "Trek flag" fly in your home or office? The USS Enterprise-themed USB webcam features an adjustable focus, and the red engine lights (or whatever they are) actually, you know, light up. For maximum realism, we guess. And the cable is adorned with the Star Fleet Insignia although, sadly, it will not function as a communicator. It is just a TV series, you know. No word on release date or price, but we're keeping our eyes peeled.

Webcams probably aren't the first thing you think of when you hear the name Lenovo, but if this little foray into the already-crowded space is any indication, we hope it won't be the last we see from them. The specs are fairly run-of-the-mill, with a decent 1.3 megapixel sensor, built-in noise-canceling microphone, and USB 2.0 connectivity -- as is the less-than-original "USB WebCam" name. But the design should be sure to please anyone looking to relive the gadget glory days of the Cold War, with a sliding lens cover inspired by Minox's famous 60s spy camera. The spring clip attachment will also ensure that the cam stays in place no matter how thin your display is. Sadly, it apparently does not double as a weapon of any sort, though you can get your hands on one right now for about eighty bucks.[Via Design Matters, thanks Richard]

iChatUSBCam is now a Universal App. Now, if you're wondering why you would want to run a program that enables iChat to use a USB webcam on an Intel Mac since they all ship with built in iSights, wonder no more! This little app lets you set a bunch of things on your iSight that are usually not available. What's more, iChatUSBCam let's you broadcast your screen to someone over iChat, which is pretty cool.iChatUSBCam costs $9.95 for an individual license and $24.95 for a three pack.[via Macworld]
