Voodoo founder Rahul Sood has never shied from controversy -- he famously <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/01/hp-exec-cuts-birthday-cake-with-macbook-air/">cut a cake with a MacBook Air</a> during his tenure at HP -- and today he's expressing his love for Apple hardware from his pulpit <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/21/rahul-sood-joins-microsoft-as-gm-for-system-experience-in-the-in/">as a Microsoft exec</a>. "Every executive in the PC industry should use an Apple notebook," Sood tweeted today, implying that they were of higher quality than those that come with Windows by default. That certainly sounds a bit like a shot at Microsoft, but according to <em>ConceivablyTech</em> he may actually be pointing at his former employer HP, as a series of private status updates point to HP's unwillingness to compete at the high end of the laptop marketplace. "We could have done it - just need a few years of patience, and investment in our tooling/process," the message reportedly reads, "We really could have done it. [...] &lrm;...especially with webOS, what a combination that would have been." We're <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/25/the-winners-of-the-2010-engadget-awards-editors-choice/">actually pretty happy</a> with our Envy 14 -- lack of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/26/hp-envy-14-radiance-displays-sold-out-forever/">Radiance Display</a> aside -- but we can't help wondering if it coulda been a contender <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/17/voodoos-rahul-sood-emerges-from-hiding-gives-us-all-the-low-do/">with Voodoo DNA</a> on board.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/03/01/microsofts-rahul-sood-says-every-pc-industry-exec-should-use-a/">Microsoft's Rahul Sood says every PC industry exec should use a MacBook</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 01 Mar 2011 17:09:00 EST. HP acquired VoodooPC and its founder Rahul Sood in 2006, and it's been a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/rahulsood">wild ride</a> ever since. The ever out-spoken Rahul has brought a lot of "Voodoo DNA" to HP products, most notably the Envy line, but also witnessed the slow fade of the actual Voodoo brand. He also went on a lot of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/17/voodoos-rahul-sood-emerges-from-hiding-gives-us-all-the-low-do/">extreme cycling trips</a> in-between all the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/29/voodoos-rahul-sood-continues-to-tease-new-product-calls-it-f/">product teases</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/25/hps-gaming-guy-says-microsoft-killed-cross-platform-play-due-to/">wild statements</a>. Rahul isn't saying exactly why he's leaving HP, but he has penned a substantial blog post detailing some of Voodoo's history and thanking a whole bunch of people and companies. As for his time with HP: "We merged, we invented, we kicked ass, and we had fun, but then things got a little complicated." What he means by "complicated" is unclear, but whatever Rahul is moving on to next (he says he "can't wait to be directly involved in a product pipeline again," for what it's worth), we're sure he'll do it with his trademark flair for the dramatic that we've come to know and love.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/15/rahul-sood-leaving-hp/">Rahul Sood leaving HP</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 15 Nov 2010 12:45:00 EST. It's still sort of weird to see an Envy laptop and <i>not</i> see <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/07/how-would-you-change-the-voodoo-envy-133/">a Voodoo badge</a> following along, but as Rahul Sood has <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/17/voodoos-rahul-sood-emerges-from-hiding-gives-us-all-the-low-do/">so eloquently explained</a>, it's HP's burden to bear from here on out. We got a chance to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/05/hp-envy-13-review/">toy around</a> with the smaller of the two a few months ago, and since then, the company <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/07/hp-updates-envy-13-and-envy-15-laptops-lowers-prices-significan/">lowered the asking prices</a> for both while simultaneously updating the specifications. For those who've managed to procure either of the editions, we're curious to hear what you think about HP's first Voodoo-free Envy laptops. Is the trackpad up to snuff? How's the display? Is the performance satisfactory given the price? Can you use it without torching your lap? Spill your innermost thoughts in comments below -- you know we won't judge you.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/19/how-would-you-change-hps-envy-13-15-laptops/">How would you change HP's Envy 13 / 15 laptops?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 19 Feb 2010 22:30:00 EST. For years now, Voodoo PC's fearless leader (that'd be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/RahulSood/">Rahul Sood</a>) barely went a month without teasing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/29/voodoos-rahul-sood-continues-to-tease-new-product-calls-it-f/">this or that</a>, or better yet, introducing the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/">new hotness</a>. In terms of cutting-edge design, these guys were at the front of the class. And then came <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/24/hp-merging-voodoo-with-consumer-pc-unit/">the HP tie-in</a>, along with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/23/hp-making-changes-within-voodoo/">the worry</a> that the Voodoo name (and "DNA") would eventually be swallowed whole. After dishing out a smattering of VoodooDNA machines under the HP label, Rahul and his company went radio silent. In fact, we haven't heard a peep from Mr. Sood for nine whole months, and we really began to wonder what was going on when HP issued the new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/15/hp-envy-13-and-15-bring-luxury-to-the-everyman-look-like-macboo/">Envy 13 and Envy 15</a> with nary an official hint of Voodoo's fingerprints.<br /><br />Now, at long last, Rahul has emerged from hiding, and he's got a story to tell. In short, Voodoo is still alive and well, but it's certainly not the same company that shocked the world with its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2004/11/12/voodoo-envy-m-790-uberlaptop/">ENVY m:790 laptop</a> in late 2004. In fact, Rahul's been working on some pretty unorthodox projects, ranging from healthcare (okay?) to futuristic stuff for HP's Innovation Program Office. In a lengthy letter to the world, he explains that the initial push to get Voodoo completely underneath HP's wings was done in order to give Voodoo access to global partners, and in turn, to ship its products to every corner of the world. When speaking about the Envy 13 / 15, he proclaims that HP's own laptop team simply lifted ideas from Voodoo prototypes and designed them internally; the truth is that Voodoo didn't design either machine, it only influenced them. The removal of the "VoodooDNA" tagline -- according to Rahul -- has to do with "the overall design language, the target market, and the fact that [Voodoo] wasn't directly involved in the design." <br /><br />In the end, Sood admits that there's still a chance you'll see another Voodoo-branded machine in your lifetime, but he also confesses that it has transitioned from a desktop and laptop company to "something beyond." He also makes clear that he hasn't forgotten about his promise to change the future of desktop gaming, and that new products from HP will continue to boast Voodoo's fingerprints. Typical Rahul -- it just wouldn't be a formal conclusion without <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/14/voodoo-cant-just-come-clean-has-to-tease-yet-another-new-produ/">a tease or two</a>, now <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/02/hps-voodoo-team-prepping-something-beautiful-for-june-10/">would it</a>?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/17/voodoos-rahul-sood-emerges-from-hiding-gives-us-all-the-low-do/">Voodoo's Rahul Sood emerges from hiding, gives us all the low-down</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 17 Sep 2009 14:44:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">We've heard chatter of HP-branded Envy machines in the past -- most notably the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/14/hp-envy-13-exhumed-lacking-voodoo-dna/">13.1-inch Envy 13</a> -- and now we have specs for an alleged Envy 15-1060ea Notebook PC. According to topproduct.nl, the laptop features a 15-inch display, 1600 MHz Intel Core i7 processor-720QM CPU (6MB cache), 320GB HDD, 4GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 graphics, a Night Vision Webcam with IR LEDs for fans of the "Paris Hilton" school of videography, a 6-cell battery, Windows 7 Home Premium, and more. Get a closer look after the break.<br />

It's been months since we've heard a peep from Voodoo or its swaggering founder, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/rahul%20sood">Rahul Sood</a>. Now it seems that one of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/23/hp-making-changes-within-voodoo/">the changes</a> headed to the Voodoo brand is no branding at all judging by the pics of this purported Envy 13 from parent company HP -- it steals both the name and size-indicative numbering from the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/envy%20133">Voodoo Envy 133</a> without a hint to its heritage. The 13.1-inch laptop is said to run Windows 7 on an Intel chipset. Visually we can see a pair of USB jacks, HDMI, and trackpad that looks to be packing some special sauce. A peak at Sood's Twitter account calls Tuesday "D Day" with the promise of "new product coming out in September/October (ish)," that will make you, "the envy of all your friends." HP was nice enough to send us a prototype <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/firebird">Firebird 802</a> gaming rig, and while we haven't had a chance to fire it up and start sucking at Crysis quite yet, we thought we'd throw up a quick unboxing for you. It's pretty slick stuff, all around -- the box has big plastic latches that pop open, and the machine itself is held in by swing-out cardboard panels, giving everything that "top-secret missile codes" feel you'd expect from a gaming PC. The Firebird itself looks just as nice in our living room <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/hp-firebird-with-voodoo-dna-hands-on/">as it did at CES</a>, but there are some sad surprises here -- the super-heavy external power brick has a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/1380576/">troublesomely lame connector</a>, and the included wireless keyboard is pretty simply crap -- the slightest downward pressure basically <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/1380526/">bends it in half</a>. Plus, we're not at all sure why the mouse and keyboard require a plug-in USB dongle -- why not just build the receiver into the gigantic chassis? We're guessing the lameness of these two is why HP also sent along a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/16/hp-goes-wild-with-new-mice-and-keyboards/">Gaming Keyboard and Laser Gaming Mouse</a> with our tester -- we'll have those two unboxed along with our in-depth Firebird impressions a little later. For now, hit up the gallery for the full unboxing!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/">HP Firebird 802 unboxing and hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/#1380493"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/2009-02-22firebirdunbox_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/#1380495"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/2009-02-22firebirdunbox-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/#1380496"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/2009-02-22firebirdunbox-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/#1380497"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/2009-02-22firebirdunbox-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/#1380498"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/02/2009-02-22firebirdunbox-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/23/hp-firebird-802-unboxing-and-hands-on/">HP Firebird 802 unboxing and hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 23 Feb 2009 15:11:00 EST. After arguably the biggest hype-fest of late 2008, HP's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/hp-firebird-with-voodoo-dna-hands-on/">Firebird with VoodooDNA</a> was revealed as Rahul Sood's ambitious little secret. The miniaturized gaming rigs <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/09/hps-firebird-with-voodoodna-802-803-now-available-starting-at/">began shipping</a> out during CES, and we've no doubt that a few of you with space constraints and a lust of high frame rates have already chomped on the bullet. So, does <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/">the machine</a> live up to the hype? Is it worth the asking price? What features weren't included that should have been? Has it handled your gaming demands with ease? Feel free to sound off below -- who knows, maybe Mr. Sood will tune in and hear you out.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/23/how-would-you-change-hps-firebird-gaming-rigs/">How would you change HP's Firebird gaming rigs?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 23 Jan 2009 23:57:00 EST. We just hit up HP's booth to check out the new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/">Firebird gaming rig</a>, and it's pretty slick looking, although it's a lot bigger than we expected / hoped. The side panels are actually a cool translucent smoke finish, and the blue LED lighting might be the first classy gaming PC light kit we've ever seen. HP was demoing the Firebird with Left 4 Dead and Crysis, and the gamers on hand seemed pretty pleased -- we'll have see how the $1,799 machine's 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad and dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800S graphics cards benchmark out when it's released on February 1st. Check it all in the gallery!<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-hands-on/">HP Firebird hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-hands-on/#1268046"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/2009-01-08firebird-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-hands-on/#1268042"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/2009-01-08firebird-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-hands-on/#1268045"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/2009-01-08firebird-11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-hands-on/#1268061"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/2009-01-08firebird-15_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-firebird-hands-on/#1268054"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/2009-01-08firebird-17_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/hp-firebird-with-voodoo-dna-hands-on/">HP Firebird with Voodoo DNA hands-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 08 Jan 2009 13:39:00 EST. We figured it was destined for a CES release, and HP has confirmed that today's the day. The hotly anticipated <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/23/hp-firebird-803-tower-with-voodoodna-leaked/">Firebird with Voodoo DNA</a> has been properly introduced to the world, and within it will come an Intel Core 2 Quad CPU, twin NVIDIA GeForce 9800S graphics cards in an SLI configuration, hot-swappable 320GB hard drives (two of 'em) and an advanced thermal management system to keep things cool, calm, collected and quiet. As <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/30/hp-firebird-gaming-towers-with-voodoodna-to-start-at-1-799/">we'd heard</a>, the rig will be available starting on January 9th for as little as $1,799 directly from Voodoo, while those too frightened to hand over their credit card information online can hold tight 'til it hits select retailers (read: Best Buy, most likely) on February 1st. Have a look at Rahul Sood and team gloating ad nauseum over this thing just after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/">HP officially launches Firebird with Voodoo DNA</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/#1259459"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/mini-1733_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/#1259458"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/mini-1729_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/#1259457"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/mini-1727_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/#1259456"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/mini-1725_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/#1259455"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/mini-1723_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Via <a href="http://forum.desktopreview.com/showthread.php?t=236360">DesktopReview</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>HP officially launches Firebird with Voodoo DNA</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/hp-officially-launches-firebird-with-voodoo-dna/">HP officially launches Firebird with Voodoo DNA</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 00:27:00 EST. While most of the hype surrounding <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Voodoo/">Voodoo</a> right now pertains to the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/30/hp-firebird-gaming-towers-with-voodoodna-to-start-at-1-799/">Firebird gaming tower</a>, <em>LAPTOP</em> has discovered yet another undercover rig from the company's arsenal worth swooning over. Before you go getting too excited, we must caution you that the Firefly is merely a prototype at the moment, but we all know concepts are made with the intent to commercialize. With the fine print behind us, it's worth reading up on what this Voodoo DNA'd machine offered up; for starters, you'll notice a 17-inch panel and a hefty 13-pound frame. There's also a multitouch trackpad, keyboard with customizable backlighting, a secondary 4.3-inch 800 x 480 display sitting beneath the main screen, a 2.4GHz Core 2 Extreme CPU, 4GB of RAM, two ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 GPUs and a 250GB HDD. It'd be a gross understatement to say that we weren't remarkably excited about the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/23/hp-firebird-803-tower-with-voodoodna-leaked/">HP Firebird 803</a> when we caught wind of it last week, but now you can safely say that our emotions have settled down after hearing the price. Granted, the $1,799 starting figure for the Firebird 802 isn't totally unexpected -- after all, the Blackbird 002 went for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/09/hps-blackbird-002-gets-exclusive-configuration-for-retail-launc/">upwards of three large</a> -- but we still see the sticker as a touch high given the weaker innards and the lack of upgrade options. Those of you who vehemently disagree can certainly hand over your wallet starting on January 9th, or you can wait for the boxes to hit unnamed retail outlets in February.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/30/hp-firebird-gaming-towers-with-voodoodna-to-start-at-1-799/">HP Firebird gaming towers with VoodooDNA to start at $1,799</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 30 Dec 2008 11:30:00 EST. We always loved us that Voodoo-designed <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/blackbird">HP Blackbird 002</a>, but it was certainly a behemoth. Now it looks like the duo are going for a more realistic size -- and hopefully pricepoint -- with the all-new HP Firebird PC 803 that just fell in our lap, a gaming tower which flips the disc drive and most other components on their sides to save on space. The resulting kit seems to have more in common with gaming consoles than desktop PCs in terms of design, with very little configurability or expansion available, but the leaked specs are still quite palatable to the modern PC gamer:<br />
<ul>
    <li>NVIDIA nForce 760i SLI chipset</li>
    <li>Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz processor</li>
    <li>4GB of RAM</li>
    <li>Dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800S cards</li>
    <li>Two 320GB SATA drives</li>
    <li>Blu-ray</li>
    <li>5-in-1 card reader</li>
    <li>6 USB, 1 FireWire, 2 eSATA, 1 S/PDIF and 1 DVI dual-link</li>
    <li>Bluetooth</li>
    <li>802.11n WiFi</li>
</ul>
To save on space (and heat), the Firebird actually uses an external power supply, but we suppose the included wireless keyboard and mouse should help to make up for that clutter. As you've probably gleaned from the specs, those small form factor 9800S cards aren't going to be putting away the frame rates quite like the cutting edge cards from NVIDIA and AMD, and the seeming lack of expandability makes the (theoretical) up-front cost savings seem a bit less exciting, but for a certain type of gamer the Firebird could be a welcome respite from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/omen">monstrous, unrealistic and just-as-quickly-outmoded</a> performance towers.<br /><br /><strong>P.S.:</strong> <a href="http://www.rahulsood.com/2008/12/gaming-pc-as-we-know-it-is-doomed.html">Rahul's dubious rant</a> about the boutique gaming industry -- which Voodoo still serves -- makes a lot more sense in this light. While low-cost laptops are all the rage right now, there's still a solid chunk of folks out there willing to pay a premium for potent ultraportables. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/envy133">Voodoo Envy 133</a> is undeniably one of the sexier small machines we've seen of late, and the internals are rather impressive given the size of the enclosure. Still, this here rig costs a pretty penny, and we've all ideas those who splurged have a thing or two to say about it with nearly two months of usage under their belt. Has the Envy 133 lived up to your surely lofty expectations? Are there aspects there you wish were different? How could Voodoo go about tweaking things whenever it finally decides to actually launch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/29/voodoos-rahul-sood-continues-to-tease-new-product-calls-it-f/"><strike>another product at all</strike></a> its successor?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/07/how-would-you-change-the-voodoo-envy-133/">How would you change the Voodoo Envy 133?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 07 Nov 2008 19:00:00 EST. Oh Rahul, why must you <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/02/hps-voodoo-team-prepping-something-beautiful-for-june-10/">tease us</a> so? Over a month after you referenced that "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/14/voodoo-cant-just-come-clean-has-to-tease-yet-another-new-produ/">some other thing</a>," we're still left to wonder what exactly "that thing" is. In a recent video response (posted after the break) to a question surrounding the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/05/hps-blackbird-002-gaming-rig-gets-real/">HP Blackbird 002</a> gaming PC, Voodoo's founder closes things out by informing viewers that a product "way ahead of its time" is sitting just behind him, but he confesses that he can't show it off just yet. Of course, he also threw in the "forward-thinking" buzzword and assured us that the industry would "absolutely embrace" it, but as of now, there's simply nothing there to wrap our retinas around besides that smile. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/05/voodoopc-website-goes-up-in-smoke-and-mystery/">game</a>'s growing tired, Mr. Sood.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/29/voodoos-rahul-sood-continues-to-tease-new-product-calls-it-f/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Voodoo's Rahul Sood continues to tease new product, calls it "forward-thinking" </em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/29/voodoos-rahul-sood-continues-to-tease-new-product-calls-it-f/">Voodoo's Rahul Sood continues to tease new product, calls it "forward-thinking" </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 29 Oct 2008 09:07:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/23/poll-whats-the-most-youd-pay-for-the-ultimate-htpc/">dedicated HTPC</a> may not be quite as "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/29/alienware-cans-hangar-18-hd-media-server-before-its-time/">mainstream</a>" as it was in years past, but there's still a solid sect of people who want a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/05/poll-do-you-own-plan-to-own-an-htpc/">full-fledged box</a> running beneath their HDTV. There's also a subset of those people with no extra time to build their own. Thus, we present Chester's question:<br /><br />"I'm tired of looking at media streaming options and I've decided I just want a dedicated HTPC connected to my HDTV. HP's Voodoo <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/envy133">Envy 133</a>, first announced in June, has struggled a bit off the blocks, with manufacturing problems keeping it out of buyers hands <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/10/voodoo-envy-133-starts-shipping-corrugated-boxes-seen-sweating/">until last month</a>. Of course, HP has a good excuse: carbon fiber. The notoriously difficult material wasn't used sparingly on the Envy 133, and if you've been looking for a laptop dripping with the synthetic material, HP's got your number. We mention this to remind ourselves that, like the MacBook Air before it, this laptop is about looks first, function second, and the Envy 133 succeeds in that regard wildly. There's always room for taste in these things, but HP makes quite a statement here no matter what your persuasion. We're not going to run through a full review here, but we'll let you know our first impressions after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133-unboxing-and-impressions/">Voodoo Envy 133 unboxing and impressions</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133-unboxing-and-impressions/#1076633"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/10/voodoo-h-002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133-unboxing-and-impressions/#1076619"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/10/voodoo-h-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133-unboxing-and-impressions/#1076622"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/10/voodoo-h-004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133-unboxing-and-impressions/#1076603"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/10/voodoo-h-005_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133-unboxing-and-impressions/#1076606"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/10/voodoo-h-006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/03/voodoo-envy-133-unboxing-and-impressions/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Voodoo Envy 133 unboxing and impressions</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/03/voodoo-envy-133-unboxing-and-impressions/">Voodoo Envy 133 unboxing and impressions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 03 Oct 2008 19:31:00 EST. See that? We could be wrong but that's not a 13.3-inch Envy 133 laptop -- it's bigger. In other words, while the video titled "Voodoo Envy: Carbon Fiber Closeup" is certainly an Envy, we're guessing (or at least hoping) it's the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/14/voodoo-cant-just-come-clean-has-to-tease-yet-another-new-produ/">recently teased model</a>. Widescreen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/18.4-inch">Envy 184</a> anyone? Hit the read link for the full video. <br /><br />P.S. Here's a curious one -- merely months after HP essentially revitalized the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/24/hp-merging-voodoo-with-consumer-pc-unit/">Voodoo brand</a> and cranked out the undeniably sexy <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Envy133/">Envy 133 laptop</a> / <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/omen-bodes-well-for-voodoos-future/">Omen desktop</a>, in flies word that the branch <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/05/voodoopc-website-goes-up-in-smoke-and-mystery/">may be broken</a> in the foreseeable future. In response to rumors that the Voodoo PC division would be canned entirely, Rahul Sood (yeah, the same guy that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/14/voodoo-cant-just-come-clean-has-to-tease-yet-another-new-produ/">pimped an undisclosed new gizmo barely a week ago</a>) stated that "HP is working on a plan to better leverage its existing resources to bring Voodoo products to market faster and make them more accessible to consumers." An HP spokeswoman was also quoted as saying that "[it] continually assesses and re-balances the size of its work force relative to the business environment and market conditions." In other words, no one is denying nor confirming the whispers, and while we have our own suspicions about what that means, we'll let you make of it what you wish.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10048228-1.html?part=rss&amp;subj=news&amp;tag=2547-1_3-0-20">CNET</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/23/hp-making-changes-within-voodoo/">HP making changes within Voodoo?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Sep 2008 01:17:00 EST. Most everyone digs a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/05/voodoopc-website-goes-up-in-smoke-and-mystery/">surprise</a>, but the novelty tends to wear off after the third or fourth iteration of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/02/hps-voodoo-team-prepping-something-beautiful-for-june-10/">same trick</a>, wouldn't you say? Rather than just coming right out and showing us the wares, Voodoo's Rahul Sood is playing the tease card again with an obviously undisclosed new product. In an apparent attempt to keep the wave (started by the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/omen-bodes-well-for-voodoos-future/">Omen</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Envy133/">Envy 133</a>, by the way) rolling, Mr. Sood has dropped a sliver of a hint on <em>The Next Bench</em>. He states that "there's also this other thing [Voodoo is] working on right now," but he very purposefully fails to elaborate. Just keep it sexy and overpowered and we won't kvetch about the build up... too much.<br /><br />[Thanks, William]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/14/voodoo-cant-just-come-clean-has-to-tease-yet-another-new-produ/">Voodoo can't just come clean, has to tease yet another new product</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 14 Sep 2008 13:52:00 EST. Right, so Voodoo's succulent <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Envy133/">Envy 133</a> looks a lot better <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/27/voodoo-envy-133-photographed-gloriously-in-the-wild/">in high-res images</a> than in some highly compressed, artifact-laden YouTube clip, but that's what your imagination is there for. For those still waiting for their freshly shipped machine to hit the doorstep, hop on past the break for an unboxing sure to make you even more impatient. Or just restrain yourself and experience it first-hand in a few days. Totally your call.<br /><br />[Thanks, Bernt]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/13/voodoo-envy-133-unboxed-on-video-lookin-good/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Voodoo Envy 133 unboxed on video, lookin' good</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/13/voodoo-envy-133-unboxed-on-video-lookin-good/">Voodoo Envy 133 unboxed on video, lookin' good</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 13 Sep 2008 12:05:00 EST. DeviceVM's <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/splashtop">SplashTop</a> "instant-on" OS is based on Linux, even though it's locked down to only run IM, Skype, media software, and Firefox, and you know what that means -- it's already been hacked wide open. Yep, the clever kids at the Phoronix forums have managed to open up the BIOS-based OS and make it do all kinds of tricks, including run other programs and boot other machines off a flash drive. Yeah, that'll make Voodoo seem totally hardcore. For it's part, HP says it's always been planning on this kind of merger, and that the move will make Voodoo product easier to buy worldwide and faster to get with no change in service for existing customers, but it's also oddly ambiguous on whether the Voodoo name will live on -- saying only that it's "likely," but that a decision hasn't been reached. All this means that it's even weirder that HP has both the Voodoo and Blackbird gaming lines, of course -- any bets on which one gets axed first?<br /><br /><a href="http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/148826/hp_folds_voodoo_pc_business_unit.html">Read</a> - PC World article<br /><a href="http://www.rahulsood.com/2008/07/cocktail-of-edgy-design-with.html">Read</a> - HP CTO Raul Sood's blog entry on the merger<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/24/hp-merging-voodoo-with-consumer-pc-unit/">HP merging Voodoo with consumer PC unit</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 24 Jul 2008 06:39:00 EST. The folks over at Maximum PC have gotten themselves a chance to go face-to-face (and tongue-to-laptop) with Voodoo's newest show-off -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Envy133/">Envy 133</a> -- and they've shared with the rest of the world. There's not much to say based on these pictures, save that they clearly were stoked to be getting this close to the sexed-up excuse for maxing out a credit card. If you hit the read link, you'll catch a slew of pictures, some size comparisons with a MacBook Pro, and first impressions of what Voodoo's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/16/first-look-at-voodoos-envy-133-instant-on-5-second-ios/">instant-on OS</a> looks and feels like. <div align="left">For those of you still able to focus, able to avoid a gobsmacked trance evoked by the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/25/customized-voodoo-envy-133-a-sin-worthy-of-death/">unabashed sex</a> of the Voodoo <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/envy%20133">Envy 133</a>, listen up. LAPTOP went hands-on with a pre-production Voodoo Envy 133 running the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/envy-133-using-custom-macbook-air-cpu-splashtop-instant-os/">instant-on, Linux-based IOS</a> (aka, DeviceVM's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/splashtop">Splashtop</a>) and came away "really impressed" by the "game changing" technology. Instead of waiting for Vista to steal another boot-minute from your day, IOS boots in just seconds letting you surf the web in just 15 seconds from a cold start -- 4-5 seconds for IOS boot, another 10 or so to launch the Mozilla-based "Splashtop browser." The IOS also presents users with a Pidgin chat (AIM, Google Talk, MSN, Yahoo, and more) client, voice-only Skype, and multi-media playback of photos and music. Let's face it, often, <em>very often</em>, this is all the functionality we need from our laptops, right Eee PC owners? Of course, you can boot to Vista from IOS or shut the laptop down if that spreadsheet can wait another day. Now hit up that read link to check the video hands-on.<br /></div>

<div align="left">As if it wasn't already clear enough, Voodoo is really going all out with its new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/envy">Envy 133</a> laptop (and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/omen">Omen</a> desktop), and it looks like that extends right down to the packaging as well, as evidenced by this latest batch of shots provided by Voodoo founder Rahul Sood himself. As you can see above, the company has even gone so far as to include a microfiber sleeve with the laptop to add one more layer of anticipation as you unbox the thing. Be sure to hit up the read link below for the rest of the pics, including a peek at the acessories and some close-up shots of the keyboard.</div>

Alright, it's finally here -- Voodoo's configuration page for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoo-floats-13-3-inch-envy-133-in-the-air/">Envy 133</a> just went live with pricing information, and we're being told that orders are being accepted over the phone. Depending on options and paint jobs, you're going to put a dent in your wallet anywhere from $2100 to $3400, but it's still not clear exactly when units will be shipping out. No frontin' here: this is the most excited we've been about in the wild shots in quite some time. Not only do we have a veritable plethora of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Envy133/">Envy 133</a> shots to glance at, but each one is high resolution and sharp as a tack. <div align="left">We've already seen plenty of official <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoo-omen-and-envy-press-shots-galore/">pics</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoos-omen-and-envy-get-talked-about-on-video/">videos</a> of Voodoo's pricey new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/omen">Omen</a> desktop, but if you've been hankering to know what's going on under its shiny hood you can now get your fix courtesy of Pocket-lint, which has cracked one open and snapped a couple of pics. Not surprisingly, the Omen's insides are decided more cluttered than its minimalist exterior, not to mention considerably more brightly colored. Hit up the link below for a closer look.</div>

Let's face it: a photograph is only worth a thousand words, but a video... well, it's almost always preferred. For those still hungry for (even) more details on Voodoo's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoo-omen-and-envy-press-shots-galore/">latest duo</a>, the HP VoodooPC channel is now home to a host of fresh clips to satisfy your insatiable appetite. We <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/31/macbook-airs-custom-built-cpu-going-pc/">heard they were coming</a>. Now it looks like we've got a second ultra-thin laptop sporting Intel's custom-built, 65-nm processor first unveiled in Apple's MacBook Air. At about 3:00 minutes into the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoo-floats-13-3-inch-envy-133-in-the-air/">Envy 133 video</a>, Rahul Sood, Voodoo founder, says that his new Envy 133 uses an "off roadmap chip" of Intel design which consumes 20 watts of power. Looking at the Envy spec sheet reveals a processor running at either 1.6GHz (SP7500) or 1.8GHz (SP7700), with 4MB L2 Cache and 800MHz FSB. Right, those are the exact specs as the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/31/macbook-airs-custom-built-cpu-going-pc/">custom CPU</a> found inside of Apple's MacBook Air. Also of note, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/31/macbook-airs-custom-built-cpu-going-pc/">LaptopMag</a> says that Voodoo's instant-on IOS is none other than <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/splashtop">DeviceVM's Splashtop</a> which ASUS is currently bunging into all of its motherboards. Make no mistake, this hunky chunk of carbon fiber is still magical, it's just not the mystery it seemed when launched this morning.<br /><br /><a href="http://blog.laptopmag.com/voodoo-envy-133-mini-review-air-killer">Read</a> -- Splashtop <br /><a href="http://www.apple.com/macbookair/specs.html">Read</a> -- MacBook Air processor <br /><a href="http://www.voodoopc.com/">Read</a> -- Envy 133 specs<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/envy-133-using-custom-macbook-air-cpu-splashtop-instant-os/">Voodoo's Envy 133 using custom MacBook Air CPU?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 10 Jun 2008 18:13:00 EST. You think we're tired of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/omen-bodes-well-for-voodoos-future/">Omen</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/envy133">Envy 133</a> yet? Fat chance. That LCD-bedecked desktop behemoth and thintop contender (pictured) are both quite a new direction Voodoo, and their launch seems particularly good timing given Dell's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/16/dell-to-integrate-alienware-and-xps-dev-teams-take-xps-line-in/">apparent reshuffling</a> of its XPS and Alienware lineups. Sure, we've sized these two up t<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/x300-vs-envy-133-vs-macbook-air-fight/">heoretically</a>, but how well do Voodoo's Envy 133 and Apple's MacBook Air get along when sharing the same meatspace? There are certainly some striking similarities -- both have gargantuan trackpads, for instance, but Voodoo has taken things in an aesthetic direction all its own. We just hope these two decide to be friends instead of mortal, cake-cutting enemies.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/envy-133-and-macbook-air-duke-it-out-in-the-flesh/">Envy 133 and MacBook Air duke it out in the flesh</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 10 Jun 2008 10:06:00 EST. <div align="left">Besides the new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoo-floats-13-3-inch-envy-133-in-the-air/">Envy 133</a>, Voodoo is also launching its 22-inch tall, all-aluminum (glass, wood, and leather too) Omen tower. This time, for gamers. It features a 7-inch, 800 x 480 display for secondary information on the outside and a Voodoo designed water cooling loop on the inside to keep the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/05/voodoopc-website-goes-up-in-smoke-and-mystery/">fire down</a> on up to 2x CPUs (up to 16 cores) and 4x GPUs. The system tops out with a pair of 3.2GHz Core 2 Extreme QX9770 processors, 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM, and support for "next generation" NVIDIA and ATI graphics... at a price. Starting at around $7,000 and available exclusively to existing Voodoo customers at launch sometime later this year.<br /></div>

Oh my. First you're <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/01/hp-exec-cuts-birthday-cake-with-macbook-air/">slicing cake with the MacBook Air</a>, then you're looking to steal its market share. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/06/how-would-you-change-lenovos-x300/">Lenovo</a>, you can't afford to be too smug either. Voodoo's $2,099, carbon fiber Envy 133 isn't a gaming rig. It is, however, a 13.3-inch ultra-portable with LED-backlit display, 1,280 x 800 resolution, Intel GMA X3100 graphics, 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SP7700 processor, HDMI, 2x USB (1 doubles as eSATA) and hard disk or SSD option. It also features an instant-on Voodoo IOS mode that lets you surf the web, chat, look at photos, and make Skype calls without booting into Windows. Impressed yet? Well what if we told you that the power brick (and it's definitely a brick!) doubles as a WiFi access point? Check the preview just beyond the read link, or full video explanation after the break.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133/">Voodoo Envy 133</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133/#852901"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/06/l_voodooenvyblack_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/voodoo-envy-133/#852900"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2008/06/l_voodooenvywhite_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoo-floats-13-3-inch-envy-133-in-the-air/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Voodoo floats 13.3-inch Envy 133 into the Air</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/10/voodoo-floats-13-3-inch-envy-133-in-the-air/">Video: Voodoo floats 13.3-inch Envy 133 into the Air</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 10 Jun 2008 04:10:00 EST. Just because you haven't seen one on every street corner doesn't mean that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/blackbird/">HP's Blackbird 002</a> gaming rig hasn't been around the block a time or two. Still, those of you who haven't found the nerve (or spare change) to pull the trigger can look forward to being tempted even more this summer. Starting soon, the Blackbird 002 will be available in an exclusive configuration at Amazon, NewEgg and select Best Buy, Circuit City, J&amp;R and Micro Center locations. This launch marks the first time the unit has sashayed into B&amp;M outlets, and packed within will be an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 processor, dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT graphics cards, 4GB of Corsair Dominator RAM, 500GB SATA drive, 7.1-channel onboard HD audio, a 15-in-1 multicard reader, 900-watt power supply and an nForce SLI motherboard with RAID support. Said config will run customers $3,299, and a list of locations from which to buy it will be made available on June 29th.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/09/hps-blackbird-002-gets-exclusive-configuration-for-retail-launc/">HP's Blackbird 002 gets exclusive configuration for retail launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 09 Jun 2008 10:02:00 EST. <div align="left">It looks like HP is milking its future plans for its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/voodoopc/">Voodoo division</a> for all their worth, with it now following up its tantalizing hints from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/02/hps-voodoo-team-prepping-something-beautiful-for-june-10/">a few days ago</a> with a not-so-subtle revision of the VoodooPC website. Exactly what that means, however, we can't be sure, but it certainly seems to suggest that the Voodoo brand might not be featured so prominently in HP's "beautiful" future --especially since the only live links left on the site are for support and community.<br /><br />[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]<br /></div>
