Right on -- well, the predicted -- schedule, LG's unique Versa handset hits Verizon Wireless stores nationwide. We've specced, reviewed, and generally fondled this set enough to give us a pretty warm fuzzy feeling about it and if you've about made up your mind by now, plonk that cash down. Pricing is set at $199 on a two-year, $269 on one-year (both after online $50 rebate), and a whopping $449 if month to month is more your thing. Admittedly, while cool and we're really digging where it fits in the market, it is still a feature set and the off contract price is a bit heavy. If anybody has been dying to get their hands on this phone or picked one up today, do let us know what you think.[Via Boy Genius Report]

  • LG Versa finds its way out of a Verizon box

At least on this Gregorian calender sitting here in the office, March 1st is still a few days off. True though that may be, it hasn't stopped at least one LX9600 (or Versa, if you prefer) from getting unboxed from its Verizon Wireless packaging. There's no indication of what truck this fell off of, nor if these phones may actually go on sale a few days early, but one thing's for sure -- this unboxer definitely did the honors in a high school cafeteria. Classy, no?[Via phoneArena]

  • LG Versa press shots, full specs, accessories in the mix ahead of March debut

The Versa could end up being one of the more fascinating North American devices to launch this year, and it turns out that Dooney & Burke agrees. New documentation arriving on our doorstep this week indicates that Verizon's launch of the unusually adaptable device will be supported by fashion accessories from Liz Claiborne and Dooney & Burke, not to mention the usual host of water resistant, sport, and plain leather cases to keep your multi-hundred dollar investment safe from harm. More importantly, though, we're seeing that it'll launch on March 1 in all sales channels for $199.99 on contract after a $50 rebate -- but that funky dedicated game pad controller will set you back another $29.99, and you better get it while the getting's good since it's labeled as a "limited stock" item. Can't get caught playing Monopoly without a dedicated 8-way pad, can you?%Gallery-44820%

We've had our eye on Verizon's crazy LG handset, the VX9600, (or "Versa," in fun-speak), since back when it was still just a doodle, and have expected an imminent launch since we caught those snaps of it in late January. So here it is -- documented evidence that points to a likely March 1 launch. If you've forgotten (there's no way you've done that, is there?) this zany piece of work boasts a sweet QWERTY keyboard module which is detachable, with other modules, including a pair of speakers and an internet module with integrated WiFi promised. No word on pricing yet, but we'll let you know when we hear something. [Thanks, ehjun]

Aww, isn't that cute? Everyone got together for one last picture before graduation -- that magical time everyone goes their separate ways to retail shelves across the country where they'll be picked up by subscribers and adopted into loving families of their own. Here we've got four hotties that are due on Verizon in the next few months: the Touch Diamond and Versa, both of which we expect by mid-March, the Nokia 7205 Intrigue, which we've expected for over a frigging year now, and the BlackBerry Pearl 8230, which will launch when it damn well feels like it. Nothing particularly amazing about this shot, but we've got to say, the Intrigue looks absolutely stellar -- assuming it actually comes off this good in the flesh.

We've got a handful of juicy morsels coming out of Verizon today -- actually, that sounds a little unpleasant, but you know what we mean -- and we wanted to pass along what we've heard. Follow the break for all the action!

We've already seen a few screens and sketches, but LG's new VX9600 (or Versa) has proven to be pretty camera shy for a phone with so much to show off -- until now, that is. Those pics above come courtesy of HowardForums member Snap315, who also has a few more available for your perusal at the link below. The standout here, as you can see, is the detachable QWERTY keyboard module, which is just one of a number of promised detachable modules for the phone, including a gamepad, a pair of speakers, and an internet module with integrated WiFi. Unfortunately, there's still no word on a release date, but these pics would seem to suggest that it'll be coming sooner rather than later.[Thanks, Hey Ya]

  • Verizon's LG VX9600 to be called "Versa"

Remember how we told you that Verizon was debating between "Phenom," "Clip," and "Versa" for the name of its totally wacky, totally modular LG VX9600? Turns out they've settled on Versa -- short for "versatile," we guess, seeing how the touchscreen phone will feature standard keyboard and optional game pad modules, among others. Other than that, details are still sketchy, but we know that it'll have stereo Bluetooth and support for microSD cards up to 8GB. If we had to take a totally random guess, we'd say that Verizon might be tracking this one for a release right around CTIA in April, but it could just as easily come tomorrow or in ten months. To be safe, we'd all better start saving for those optional attachments now -- wouldn't want to get caught short-changed when it drops.

We haven't heard a peep out of LG or Verizon about this crazy VX9600 with detachable modules that they're cooking up, but we have managed to score a few tidbits about the thing on our own. First up, we've come across a few Flash Lite-based screens that (we guess, anyway) show off parts of the phone's user interface -- nothing spectacular, but if it's any consolation, we promise the actual phone won't look this jaggy and Spanish won't be the only language option. Secondly, we've learned that a keyboard module will be included with the phone, while a game pad module -- pictured in our mockup a while back -- will be an optional add-on. We're not sure how many modules will be made available at this point, but it sure seems like it could get expensive if you pick up the base phone plus all the options, doesn't it?%Gallery-42583%

  • Mystery Verizon phone features 3-inch touchscreen, attachable function modules

Not long ago we uncovered a VX9600 brought to the FCC's attention courtesy of LG, and naturally, whenever we hear about an LG model that starts with "VX," we think but one thing: Verizon. That's not too interesting -- LGs pass through Verizon's lineup all the frickin' time -- but what caught our eye with this one was the mention of a game pad and a detachable keyboard. Meanwhile, a tipster of ours recently received a survey from Verizon asking what they thought about a purely hypothetical phone with a 3-inch touchscreen and a series of detachable modules, including a keyboard, game pad, stereo speakers, and an "internet module" with integrated WiFi. Coincidence? Doubtful; if we had to guess, the VX9600 is this very device, for which Verizon is apparently considering the names "Phenom," "Clip," and "Versa." We've got to admit, they've managed to stumble across a pretty unique concept here, and we're curious to see how it actually works in practice. We'd seen some intel indicating that Verizon had been targeting a November launch for this thing as recently as September -- but launch windows change insanely fast, so there's really no telling when we'll see this Frankenstein of a phone at this point.[Thanks, Marcus]

  • Verizon pushes Motorola ZN4 to October, Nokia 7205 to next year?

Jeebus, Nokia, what's going on with your stupid flip phone over there? Not to harsh on you too much -- we love you, really we do -- but we're not exactly talking about an N96-caliber device here. If an updated view of Verizon's Mobile Email launches is accurate, it seems that the launch of Nokia's CDMA-equipped 7205 will now come no earlier than January of 2009, which would put it a full year after the first spy shots leaked. We also see here that LG's VX5500 and VX8360 are both tracking for late October, while the mysterious VX9600 should be hitting in November if all goes well. From Motorola, the VU30 has been pushed out to the end of this month and the MING-esque ZN4 is looking like it's trying to break out in time for Halloween. Samsung is offering the u810 global phone later on this month, while the u650 "Sway" sneaks in somewhere in October. Altogether a promising autumn for Big Red's dumbphone line -- but we've seen enough date slips at this point to be fooled into believing there won't be a few more.[Thanks, anonymous tipster]

  • LG nabs FCC approval for Verizon's VX9600

If there's one thing you can count on in this crazy world of ours, it's that LG handsets that start with "VX" are destined to get stamped with a big-ass Verizon logo somewhere along the line. Latest in that trend should be the VX9600, having just passed through the FCC's danger-fraught passages on its way to a presumed release on Big Red down the line. It should be a pretty interesting device, too -- as most in the VX9000 series tend to be -- thanks to a 3.0-inch 480 x 240 display, a "game pad" of some sort, and a detachable QWERTY keyboard. Not a lot to go on there, granted, but this is FCC documentation we're talking about here. More on this one as we get it.
