The lack of diversity within artificial intelligence is pushing the field to a dangerous "tipping point," according to new research from the AI Now Institute. It says that due to an overwhelming proportion of white males in the field, the technology is at risk of perpetuating historical biases and power imbalances.

PlayStation is repeating history. Once again it's dropping a white Destiny bundle, except this time it's for this September's Destiny 2 and the hardware is a PlayStation 4 Pro. The limited edition 1TB console will set you back $449.99 in the US and it will be released on September 6th. In addition to the game and PS4 Pro, the bundle includes early access (like all PS4 editions) to bonus bits, as well as an expansion pass. If your white 2TB Xbox One S needs some company in your A/V rack -- and gold isn't your color -- maybe this will do the trick for you.

At Xiaomi's CES event today, it revealed a new, white color for its Mi MIX concept, a phone that is about as close to bezel-free as you'll get. As a reminder, it has a 6.5-inch 1080p, rounded-corner screen, but it's packed into a ceramic body that Xiaomi says is around the same size as a regular 5.5-inch smartphone. That's thanks to the lack of bezels, including almost no "forehead" at the top of the Philippe Starck-designed phone.

Twitter is trying to curb the virulent racism on its platform by banning bigots and expanding reporting features, but it's like whack-a-mole -- two pop up for every one banned. However, a new research paper shows that calling out users who post racist and sexist slurs can heavily curb trolling. There's a catch, however: it's much more effective if the "white knight" is, well, white

At its London event today, Amazon didn't just announce European availability of the Echo, it also dropped a couple of global announcements too. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the existence of a new white Echo and Echo Dot, which will launch in Europe and the US in the coming weeks. In the case of the Dot, it's not just a color refresh: the product itself has been given a new voice chip that is capable of detecting where you are in a room, and it's also getting that rumored price drop.

Amazon offers a range of different Kindle e-readers depending on your budget, but they normally always come in black. If you've wanted to stand out from the crowd, the only option has been to buy a colourful case or import a white model from Japan or China. Now, UK customers can enjoy a little bit more variety after the retailer decided to bring the white version east for the first time. It offers all of the same features as its black counterpart, including the 800 x 600 e-paper touchscreen, WiFi, 4GB of storage and the £60 price tag, and will ship from today.

Have you missed white Kindle e-readers ever since they disappeared in 2012? So has Amazon. The internet retailer has quietly unveiled a white version of its basic Kindle reader that's headed to at least China on April 8th, and Japan on April 20th. It's virtually identical to the $79 black model, including the 800 x 600 e-paper touchscreen, WiFi and 4GB of storage -- you're really just getting a cosmetic change here. Still, it's hard not to be curious about Amazon's sudden nostalgia kick. We've reached out to Amazon to find out if and when the white Kindle will reach other parts of the globe, and we'll let you know if there are any additional launches in the cards.

Not only did Sony just announce that the beta of Bungie's next title, Destiny, is coming as a beta next month, but it also let the cat out of the bag that you'll be able to get the game bundled with a "glacier white" PlayStation 4 on September 9th. The new-hued console will come with 500GB of storage and a free 30-day membership to PlayStation Plus. Accompanying peripherals include a matching controller and stand available for purchase separately, and a grey/white "urban camouflage" DualShock 4. The cost for the bundle pack? A tidy $450/€439, while Europeans can pick up the system solo for €399. Follow our liveblog at Sony's E3 2014 conference for the latest updates!

  • Microsoft squashes rumors of a cheaper, all-digital Xbox One

Microsoft has no plans to build an Xbox One sans Blu-ray disc for $100 less than the current model, according to a tweet by Xbox chief Aaron Greenberg. Rumors about a cheaper, all-digital version with a 1TB drive floated up recently from the NeoGAF forums, with speculation that it might hit retail by October of this year. When asked to confirm over Twitter, Greenberg replied "No, you cannot believe everything you read on the internet." We're not sure if he's shooting down the entire idea of the model or just the time frame, but sources suggest that Redmond was at least testing such a version. Considering how excited folks were about a possible retail version of the white, employee-only Xbox One, we're not expecting the rumors to die down anytime soon.

Microsoft's white, employee-only Xbox One could become a little less exclusive. The snow-colored console is rumored to appear alongside the cartoony shooter Sunset Overdrive this October, and a 1TB version of the hardware might release in November according to a NeoGAF thread that's been confirmed by The Verge's sources. What's more, Microsoft's latest console may also see worldwide release this year sans Blu-ray drive for $399. With the annual DICE Summit and Game Developers Conference not far off on the horizon, it might not be long before we see these rumors publicly confirmed. We've reached out to Redmond and will let you know if we hear back. Update: The source of the NeoGAF thread also says that a Limited Edition Titanfall console is on the way too, posting what he says is an image of the special console's design. Skip on past the break for a peek at the alleged hardware.

  • Amazon offers another chance to pick up a white PlayStation Vita

Fancy a limited edition Crystal White PS Vita bundled with Assassin's Creed III Liberation for just $180? Well, sorry old bean, but you're too late. That particular deal ended ages ago and the Liberation bundle is now selling for ludicrously high prices (oh, the cruelty of it). But here's something we didn't expect: the rare white version of the handheld has just reappeared at Amazon as a not-so-limited standalone product priced at $200, i.e., the same money as the common black option. Aside from the color scheme, this is a traditional unit with an OLED display, rather than the Japanese LCD version that has better battery life. However, it'll look great during these icy winter months and, by summer, it'll bask in the warmth of Sony's exciting new game streaming service, PlayStation Now.

  • This is the white Nexus 7 (hands-on)

The Nexus 7 has been out in a black hue since this summer, so it was only a matter of time before Google launched it in white. And this may not come as any sort of shock, but the white version of the ASUS-made Nexus 7 doesn't pack any unexpected surprises -- unless, of course, you were hoping the device would be white on the front and the back (although white is barely visible along the edges when you're looking at the front). We had the opportunity to play with the KitKat-packing slate today, and your overall user experience will be exactly the same regardless of your color preference. The outside is essentially alike as well, although there are two exceptions: This one has the FCC info printed on the back, which, by the way, has a glossier feel than the soft-touch plastic on the black Nexus 7. In fact, we were immediately reminded of the feel of the white Nexus 5. If the new hue is for you, they're already shipping from the Play Store in the US for $270: Your only option is a 32GB WiFi-only model. Check out the gallery below for plenty more images.

Along with two brand new Google Play edition devices, Google is also giving a lot of Nexus 7 lovers a nice holiday miracle of sorts: a white Nexus 7. This color is only available in 32GB and WiFi-only, which means you're going to have to fork out $270 to grab one. If this is what you've been waiting several months for, then you're in for a treat -- it's already available in the Play Store. As always, we're guessing that inventory may not last for very long, so you probably will need to act quickly.

With the PlayStation 4 now on sale and the Xbox One hitting stores this week, news of Ouya's latest console refresh comes at a busy time for gamers. With holidays closing in, it's unveiled a new limited edition all-white case for its Android-powered console, also doubling the system's internal storage to 16GB to store more games and important media. Ouya has already opened pre-orders with a $129.99 price tag ($30 more than the 8GB model), and if you order before December 8th, you should have it by Christmas. While the white model, with its expanded storage, is only available in North America, all is not lost -- Ouya's latest software update will bring support for USB storage (and many other new features) to older consoles when it arrives later this month.

If you'd like a ruggedized camera to match that white Nexus 4 of yours, Pentax has you covered. The outfit has just unveiled an alabaster WG-3 that boasts the same specs and price tag as its vibrantly colored siblings. Dropping $300 on the shooter nets risk-prone photographers a 4x, f/2-4.9 lens backed by a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 3-inch LCD screen, video capture at 1080/30p and 720/60p, and even GPS for an additional $50. A toughened exterior makes the hardware cold-proof, crush-proof, drop-proof, shock-proof and water-proof. Yearning to get your hands on the ivory cam? Pentax says it'll see a "limited distribution" at brick-and-mortar establishments and head to online shops this July.

Finally, the Nexus swan arrives. LG has just announced that the white iteration of its Google phone will make its first retail appearance in Hong Kong at the end of May, rolling out across Asia, North America and Europe over "the next several weeks." As a reminder, the Nexus 4 packs an admirable 320 ppi 4.7-inch HD IPS display, 8-megapixel camera, Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and the very latest version of Google's mobile OS, which, for the time being, is Android 4.2. No pricing has been formalized yet, though we expect it to match the black original. Interestingly, Hong Kong's May 29th release date is one day before LG's Optimus G Pro launch soiree at Macau -- practically next door. %Gallery-189532%

  • LG Nexus 4 shows up in white at Google I/O (hands-on)

A checkerboard-style glitter pattern with a white background? Yes, please. We've always been impressed by the elegant look and feel of LG's Nexus 4, announced alongside Android 4.2 last October, and now Google is making an ivory version of the device available to (hopefully) the masses. The twist: it still hasn't been officially announced, despite the fact that a conference like I/O would be the perfect time and place to do so. While Google chose not to take advantage of the situation to show the unicorn Nexus to the world, real-life units have been discovered floating around Moscone West. Androidandme's Taylor Wimberly happened upon one of them at the show and was gracious enough to give us a brief moment or two with the device. There isn't any surprise associated with this particular beaut, as it's packing the same design and specs as we've already seen in the original black model (sorry, LTE hopefuls). The pattern on the back actually doesn't stand out as much as it does on the black version, as it happens to blend in with the white a little more. We also noticed the same set of tiny nubs on the bottom that mysteriously appeared on the black version a few months ago. Lastly, the white Nexus is rumored to be the first device with Android 4.3 when it officially launches, but this particular version we saw only sports 4.2.1. There's not much else for us to write about the new color, but let's face it -- you're here for the pictures, which you can gaze upon below. %Gallery-188722% Myriam Joire contributed to this post.

  • Rumors mount for white Nexus 4, may launch with next version of Android

The white Nexus 4 is stuff that dreams are made of, and the lucky son of a gun at Android and Me, Taylor Wimberly, has one in hand. According to Wimberly's description, it'll be a "carbon copy" of the black Nexus 4, with the same specs and hardware wrapped into the sparkly, snow white casing. That's not the only juicy detail to emerge from Google I/O, however, as Wimberly reports that the smartphone will debut in the Google Play Store on June 10th with Android 4.3. We're currently unable to confirm the rumor, but a growing number of server logs add to the speculation that Android 4.3 could be around the bend. With less than a month to go, it won't be long to know whether this one pans out, but you can be sure that we'll be dreaming of unicorns in the meantime.
