Wii plus WoW may end up resulting in some pretty heinous puns, but on the homebrew front, they play well together. Thanks to the folks at WiiLi.org and Darwiin Remote, now we've got videos of folks "naviigating" (couldn't resist) the streets of Azeroth. Or video, at least, singular, but just give it time. Darwiin Remote interfaces the Wiimote with Mac OSX for real point and click action. See this nifty app doing its thing after the jump.

The general consensus on the PS3 is that everybody is selling theirs on eBay, and now we're starting to wonder how anyone has time to put a Wiimote through a window or somebody's eye with all this hacking going on. On the musical front, it turns out the Wiimotes make for a great pair of drumsticks, and now after a couple weeks we learn that they make for a horrible guitar substitute. The Wiitar hack comes from an industrious J5892 on the WiiLi forums, and involves two Wiimotes, complicated angles and button pushes and some lame sounding MIDI noises to create amazingly bad music. We've gotta give this guy props for effort and all that crap, but seriously dude, ever think of giving up this whole hacking gig for a bit of Zelda? Peep the sexy music video after the break.[Via Joystiq]

  • Use Wiimote as Windows mouse, destroy all personal productivity

That "Wiimote acceleration values" vid was great and all, but those graphs get old after like 10 seconds. That's why we're glad to see somebody base an actual Windows cursor control on the snazzy technology from the Wii Linux folks behind that first tech demo. Unfortunately, the tilt sensing sensors of the controller just don't make for a great mouse, which leaves our intrepid hacker here floating across the screen in a rather frustrating manner. Nobody has managed to tap into the IR triangulating capabilities of the Wiimote over Bluetooth yet, which has the potential to improve such interfacing considerably, so we figure we'll hold out until such a time as that, or until the carpal tunnel becomes too great to bear -- whichever comes first.[Via Joystiq, Hack A Day]

Today's most-watched YouTube game video shows a Wiimote controlling a Windows PC mouse pointer. (Go here if you're looking for that other video.) The Bluetooth connection uses the freely available GlovePIE to make sense of the movements; download the software to try it out at home. We're excited about the hacking and modding cultural movement; it seems bigger than ever. Hats off to the Wiili guys and anyone else who adds unintended features to our consoles.See the video after the break.
