<a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/wowwee">WowWee</a>, the company best known for its endless supply of adorable <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/01/wowwees-roboscooper-picks-up-the-stuff-too-big-for-your-roomba/">robot</a> toys, is kicking off 2012 with something a little more virtual than <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/19/wowwees-light-strike-makes-laser-tag-look-more-like-paper-jamz/">visceral</a>. AppGear combines actual physical toys with iOS and Android apps, like the launch title Foam Fighters. Each collectible, action figure or playset is paired with its own free, downloadable app that offers an augmented reality game or virtual way to interact with the toys. The line will be launching in "early" 2012, for between $9.99 and $19.99 depending on the particular toy. Six products will be available at launch, including Alien Jailbreak, Zombie Burbs, and Elite Commander which you can check out in the videos below alongside some incredibly vague PR. And we'll be gunning for WowWee booth when we land in Vegas to get some hands-on time with this lineup of AR-toys.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/03/wowwees-appgear-turns-toys-into-smartphone-appcessories-vide/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WowWee's AppGear turns toys into smartphone 'appcessories' (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/03/wowwees-appgear-turns-toys-into-smartphone-appcessories-vide/">WowWee's AppGear turns toys into smartphone 'appcessories' (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 03 Jan 2012 18:03:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/wowwee">WowWee</a>, the same folks who brought you <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/18/wowwees-paper-jamz-fake-guitars-make-the-jump-to-2d-gain-some/">Paper Jamz</a>, are giving yet another American leisure-time institution a makeover, and this time they've set their sights on laser tag. Carrying over the Paper Jamz aesthetic, Light Strike aims to "bring video game action into the real-world" with a set of laser tag guns and accessories that sport fingerprint ID, long-range LED targeting, built-in health and ammo meters, and the ability to play with up to four teams of unlimited size. The game's stable of weapons includes Light Strike's signature gun, the Assault Striker, a machine gun bipod with recoil action, a scope attachment with 100-foot range, and a grenade launcher that can shoot groups of enemies down in a single shot. Now, who's going to lead the campaign to make the Assault Striker the official gun of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/27/pentathlon-switching-to-laser-pistols-for-2012-olympics/">2012 Olympic Pentathalon</a>? Light Strike is set for an August 2011 launch with guns starting at about $40, but you can get a very dramatic preview after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/19/wowwees-light-strike-makes-laser-tag-look-more-like-paper-jamz/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WowWee's Light Strike makes laser tag look more like Paper Jamz</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/19/wowwees-light-strike-makes-laser-tag-look-more-like-paper-jamz/">WowWee's Light Strike makes laser tag look more like Paper Jamz</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 19 Feb 2011 03:45:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/paperjamz">Paper Jamz</a>, they have jamz-ed their last -- at least for now. Gibson's won that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/23/gibson-sues-wowwee-retailers-over-paper-jamz-toy-guitars-would/">injunction against WowWee</a> for modeling its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/18/wowwees-paper-jamz-fake-guitars-make-the-jump-to-2d-gain-some/">2D toy guitars</a> on famous axes like the Flying V and Les Paul without permission, and since retailers like Walmart, Amazon, Best Buy and Target were all named in the lawsuit, they'll have to pull PaperJamz from their shelves. Or maybe not -- the injunction was granted and immediately appealed on the 21st, and we've definitely seen PaperJamz for sale in Best Buy stores here and there since then, so it seems like there's still a chance to grab the super-thin guitars while the lawyers sort it all out. We'd guess WowWee might simply re-think some of the designs to be little less "inspired" by Gibson guitars in the meantime -- could the Flying V PaperJamz one day command the same collector attention as a 1970s lawsuit Ibanez, Tokai, or Greco? For humanity's sake, let's hope not.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/28/gibson-wins-paper-jamz-injunction-retailers-ordered-to-pull-sto/">Gibson wins Paper Jamz injunction, retailers ordered to pull stock</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 28 Dec 2010 13:32:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">It looks like <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/WowWee/">WowWee</a> is learning the implications of that old saw, "imitation is the surest way to get your company sued." That's right, the company's radical looking, fun for about twenty minutes, paper-thin plastic toy guitars have recently drawn legal fire from Gibson, who recognizes a distinct resemblance between some classic axes (like the Flying V and the Les Paul) and the aforementioned <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/18/wowwees-paper-jamz-fake-guitars-make-the-jump-to-2d-gain-some/">Paper Jamz</a> line. Which we could certainly see -- even if WowWee hadn't name dropped Gibson in its product literature (which seems to us to be rather on par with taunting the company outright). And if that weren't bad enough, the company is going after retailers, such as Toys 'R Us and eBay, who it claimed kept selling the things after receiving a cease and desist letter. Of course, this raises a few questions: At which point is a design so ubiquitous that it becomes fair game for companies like WowWee? And wouldn't Gibson want the kiddies (who will be ready to move up to real guitars soon enough) hooked on their brand? And most importantly -- when are we getting a Paper Jamz Rickenbacker? Because there has to be an easier way to be like Paul Weller. Commercial after the break (it adds nothing to the post, but it's kind of a laugh).</div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/23/gibson-sues-wowwee-retailers-over-paper-jamz-toy-guitars-would/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Gibson sues WowWee, retailers over Paper Jamz toy guitars; would rather some other company get all that free advertising (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/23/gibson-sues-wowwee-retailers-over-paper-jamz-toy-guitars-would/">Gibson sues WowWee, retailers over Paper Jamz toy guitars; would rather some other company get all that free advertising (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 23 Nov 2010 18:21:00 EST. We can't say we've ever dreamt of a pico projector / speaker dock combo, but we also can't say the idea doesn't make a bit of sense. Continuing its expansion into the projector space with its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cinemin">Cinemin sub-brand</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/wowwee">WowWee</a>'s Slice is much more than your usual unitasking pico -- it packs six-watt stereo speakers along with a 854 x 480 resolution, 16 lumens DLP projector. As you can see, it's been designed for your choice of Apple products -- its 30-pin connector is compatible with the iPad, iPhone 3G/3GS/4, etc. -- but the back of the device <em>does</em> hold additional VGA, mini-HDMI and AV ports for hooking up whatever other gadget you've been dying to project on a wall. Speaking of that projection, the maximum image size is 60 inches, though you'll have to set it back quite a bit from the projected surface to achieve that viewing size -- WowWee says the viewable range is anywhere between 11 to 125 inches. We caught a look at the Slice at the CES Press Preview event in NYC, and have to say it's not a bad looking dock -- the glowing red LED buttons give it some pizzazz. Obviously, it was hard for us to judge the image and sound quality from the brief look, but we were able to hear <em>Bolt</em> over the event background noise if that counts for anything. The Slice will be priced around $400 but won't be hitting stores until January -- until then you've got the pictures in the gallery below and some more tech specs at the source link. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-slice-hands-on-0/">WowWee Cinemin Slice hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-slice-hands-on-0/#3558256"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/11/cineminslice1-1289406217_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-slice-hands-on-0/#3558257"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/11/cineminslice2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-slice-hands-on-0/#3558258"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/11/cineminslice3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-slice-hands-on-0/#3558259"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/11/cineminslice4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-slice-hands-on-0/#3558260"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/11/cineminslice5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/10/wowwee-cinemin-slice-takes-the-pico-out-of-your-pocket/">WowWee Cinemin Slice takes the pico out of your pocket</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 10 Nov 2010 22:17:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">WowWee's robots may be <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/21/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/">fun</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/22/wowwees-alive-white-tiger-cub-gets-unboxed-showcased-on-video/">lovable</a> <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/04/wowwees-wrex-the-dawg-reviewed-puts-real-canines-to-shame/">companions</a>, but they aren't always exactly the most <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/rovio/">useful</a> things to have around. That's not the case with the company's new Roboscooper, however, which will gladly pick up stuff off your floor until its six AAA batteries run out. Of course, it will only pick up small, one ounce objects, and its storage capacity is a tad limited -- but hey, every little contribution helps. You can even switch from autonomous to remote-controlled mode if you feel like being slightly less lazy, and you can let Roboscooper have a bit of fun by engaging the "whack" mode, which makes him swat objects out of his way instead of picking them up. Just when we thought <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/GuitarHero/">Guitar Hero</a> had removed every shred of dignity from the once proud profession of "rocking out," along comes Paper Jamz to do away with all pretense. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/WowWee/">WowWee</a>, known primarily for its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/21/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/">creepy robotic toys</a>, has put some of its technical chops into a new musical line of utterly flat instruments. The "paper" guitar and drum sets use capacitive sensors to pick up on touch, and there's even a fake amp built of cardboard to complete the ensemble.<br />
<br />
Surprisingly, it all works. Each $25 guitar is packed with three different songs, and pretend rock stars can strum along in three different modes: a fail-safe mode where all you have to do is keep strumming and you'll jam out the appropriate guitar part, a rhythm mode where you have to strum at the right intervals, and a freestyle mode. The last of these is where things actually get interesting, since there's a usable fret board in so-called open E tuning, letting you select actual cords by placing a finger on its respective fret up or down the printed-on fret board. One finger does major, two fingers does minor, and three fingers does a 7th. It's an approximation, sure, but it actually could teach a kid a lot more about how to play a real guitar than Guitar Hero ever will. Prepare to hear more 12-year-olds playing "Smoke on the Water" than you ever supposed the universe was capable of containing. The modes on drums are similar, and you can pair up drums and guitar to play the same song simultaneously. The $15 amp uses a sonic transducer to vibrate its entire, cheap cardboard mass, and is actually rather loud. The "Series 1" selection of guitars and drums will be out in early July, and you can check out a video of this stuff in action after the break. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwees-paper-jamz/">WowWee's Paper Jamz</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwees-paper-jamz/#2724089"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/wowwee-pjamz-01-hands_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwees-paper-jamz/#2724088"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/wowwee-pjamz-02-hands_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwees-paper-jamz/#2724087"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/wowwee-pjamz-03-hands_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwees-paper-jamz/#2724086"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/wowwee-pjamz-04-hands_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwees-paper-jamz/#2724085"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/wowwee-pjamz-05-hands_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-paper-jamz-press-shots/">WowWee Paper Jamz press shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-paper-jamz-press-shots/#2724099"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/wowwee-pjamz-03-pr_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-paper-jamz-press-shots/#2724100"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/wowwee-pjamz-02-pr_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-paper-jamz-press-shots/#2724101"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/02/wowwee-pjamz-01-pr_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/18/wowwees-paper-jamz-fake-guitars-make-the-jump-to-2d-gain-some/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WowWee's Paper Jamz: fake guitars make the jump to 2D, gain some musicality</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/18/wowwees-paper-jamz-fake-guitars-make-the-jump-to-2d-gain-some/">WowWee's Paper Jamz: fake guitars make the jump to 2D, gain some musicality</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 18 Feb 2010 18:22:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left;">The first time we saw a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/pico+projector">pico projector</a> some of us thought: "Err... What's the point?" Slide show presentations from your phone? Doubt it -- not powerful enough for practical use. Cinematic experience in the toilet? Maybe, but you'd want a built-in projector on your PMP instead of a separate brick. Funky dance? Only <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/29/japans-helicopter-boyz-turn-the-nikon-s1000pj-into-something/">in Japan</a>. Finally, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/wowwee">WowWee</a> took a break from robotics to give us the answer with its foldable <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/cinemin+swivel">Cinemin Swivel</a> pico projector: for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/27/mom-installs-98-inch-screen-in-sons-bedroom-ceiling-deservedly/">watching videos on the ceiling</a> while lying in bed, obviously. Still, we have our doubts about image quality, portability and practicality -- especially for $299. Read on to find out if this little guy is worth it.</div>

If you're like us, you've been marking the days off until you could get WowWee's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CineminSwivel/">Cinemin Swivel</a> -- or, the pico with attitude, as we like to call it. We've been keeping our eyes on it since <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CES2009/">CES 2009</a>, so we can sympathize. Well, looks like the wait is over -- it's popped up on Amazon and we hear you can grab one up at Brookstone, too. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/DLP/">DLP</a> pico, which boasts a 480 x 360 resolution, an adjustable 90-degree hinge (for projecting your Richard Marx video collection onto the ceiling) will run you around $299.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/16/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-pico-projector-shocker-available-now/">WowWee Cinemin Swivel pico projector shocker: available now!</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 16 Nov 2009 13:24:00 EST. See that glowing face? Yep, it's the super-enthusiastic <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/01/wowwee-rolls-out-roborover-joebot-robot-buddies/">Roborover</a> from <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/wowwee">WowWee</a>. We won't lie: we were a bit stoked by the arrival of this yellow explorer at <em>Engadget's</em> doorstep. Too bad it didn't exactly walk all the way from its warehouse, forcing us to go through the painful procedure of cutting up the tapes and untangling the ties of its shipping box. Five minutes later we've got a 4-pound robot on our hands, and we'd say overall the build quality is an eight out of ten (the cuts on the plastic parts could do with a finer finish) which is pretty good for a toy. You'll be pleased to know that those treads are for real and supported by a third mini roller at the back, but the friendly manual does say, "For indoor use only." Think we'll skip that page, thank you. Now kids, you might need your daddy's screwdrivers and some extra cash to feed the Roborover three "C" size batteries, and another three "AAAs" for the chunky IR remote. All ready to go? Skip along to learn how the Roborover explores the "ancient tombs of your parents' closet."<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/">Review: WowWee Roborover gets friendly with your furniture</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/#2373251"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/roborover2009-10-19_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/#2373256"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/roborover2009-10-19-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/#2373257"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/roborover2009-10-19-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/#2373258"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/roborover2009-10-19-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/#2373259"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/10/roborover2009-10-19-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/21/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WowWee Roborover gets friendly with the furniture in our review</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/21/review-wowwee-roborover-gets-friendly-with-your-furniture/">WowWee Roborover gets friendly with the furniture in our review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 21 Oct 2009 16:36:00 EST. <div align="left">WowWee may have some <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/28/robonica-roboni-i-rolling-robot-takes-aim-at-wowwee-holiday-sho/">new competition</a>, but it should come as no surprise that it's not about to rest on its laurels this holiday season, and it's now rolled out a pair of new "robot buddies" that it hopes will wind up at the top of plenty of kids' (and some adults') wish lists. First <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/wowwee-mixes-it-up-at-ces-cinemin-pico-pj-new-alive-cubs-and-m/">announced</a> way back at CES in January, both the WowWee Roborover and WowWee Joebot are now available to order for $79.99 or $99.99, respectively, or in one of WowWee's usual "mini" versions for a mere $15 apiece. While those latter options are basically action figures, the two full-fledged versions should keep you occupied for a little longer than your average toy robot, with each able to be controlled remotely or operate autonomously, play various games and, in the case of the Roborover, traverse "rough terrain" and "inclines."<br /><br /><a href="http://www.wowwee.com/en/products/toys/robots/robotics/roborover">Read</a> - WowWee Roborover<br /><a href="http://www.wowwee.com/en/products/toys/robots/robotics/joebot">Read</a> - WowWee Joebot<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/wowwee-roborover-and-joebot-robots-revealed-3058425/">SlashGear</a>]</div>

<div align="left">Pico projector fans, the wait is over. WowWee -- the company with the wackiest name in the business (or at least the most fun to type) has just announced that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CineminSwivel/">Cinemin Swivel</a> is available for pre-order today -- as in right now -- both Stateside and in Europe. The press for this device sounds a little like wishful thinking (enjoy romantic flicks on the bedroom ceiling! foreign cinema in the backyard! YouTube on a subway wall! psychedelic graphics on the dance floor!) but if you've been in the market for a pocket-sized, iPhone-friendly multimedia projector, your choices just expanded by one. Yours for a song -- and $349.99. Gallery below.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-available-for-pre-order-in-u-s-and-europe/">WowWee Cinemin Swivel available for pre-order in U.S. and Europe</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-available-for-pre-order-in-u-s-and-europe/#2174160"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/090729-wowee-g01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-available-for-pre-order-in-u-s-and-europe/#2174161"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/090729-wowee-g02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-available-for-pre-order-in-u-s-and-europe/#2174162"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/090729-wowee-g03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-available-for-pre-order-in-u-s-and-europe/#2174163"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/07/090729-wowee-g04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div></div>

<div align="left">We first spotted WowWee's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CineminSwivel/">Cinemin Swivel</a> pico projector back at CES, when it was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/wowwee-mixes-it-up-at-ces-cinemin-pico-pj-new-alive-cubs-and-m/">announced</a> along with the Stick and Station models. If you forgot, the little DLP guy boasts 480 x 360 resolution, an adjustable 90-degree hinge (so that you can easily project onto the ceiling), and a three-hour battery life. It's just gotten some official release and pricing information for the UK, anyway, where it's going to make its first appearance this September. The Cinemin Swivel will retail for &pound;349 (about $571). There's no word on release or pricing for the Stick or Station yet, but we'll keep you posted. Until then, check out the gallery of shots we got back at CES.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-stick-and-station-pico-pjs-hands-on/">WowWee Cinemin Swivel, Stick, and Station pico PJs hands-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-stick-and-station-pico-pjs-hands-on/#1262278"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/rmceswowproj09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-stick-and-station-pico-pjs-hands-on/#1262277"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/rmceswowproj03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-stick-and-station-pico-pjs-hands-on/#1262276"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/rmceswowproj04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-stick-and-station-pico-pjs-hands-on/#1262275"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/rmceswowproj11_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/wowwee-cinemin-swivel-stick-and-station-pico-pjs-hands-on/#1262274"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/rmceswowproj10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /></div>

This whole global economic crisis, and its resulting massive loss of jobs got us thinking. We here at Engadget didn't want to stand helplessly by, announcing every new round of misery without giving anything back -- so we decided to take the opportunity to spread a little positivity. We'll be handing out a new gadget every day (except for weekends) to lucky readers until we run out of stuff or companies stop sending things. Today we've got a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwees-robotics-lineup-gets-some-new-additions/">WowWee Tribot</a> on offer. Read the rules below (no skimming -- we're omniscient and can tell when you've skimmed) and get commenting! Hooray for free stuff! Two more shots of the products after the break.<br /><em><em><br /></em></em>The rules:<br />
<ul>
    <li><strong>Leave a comment below.</strong> Any comment will do, but if you want to share your proposal for "fixing" the world economy, that'd be sweet too.<br /></li>
    <li><strong>You may only enter this specific giveaway once.</strong> If you enter this giveaway more than once you'll be automatically disqualified, etc. (Yes, we have robots that thoroughly check to ensure fairness.)</li>
    <li><strong>If you enter more than once, only activate one comment.</strong> This is pretty self explanatory. Just be careful and you'll be fine.<strong><br /></strong></li>
    <li><strong>Contest is open to anyone in the 50 States, 18 or older! </strong>Sorry, we don't make this rule (we hate excluding anyone), so be mad at our lawyers and contest laws if you have to be mad.<br /></li>
    <li><strong>Winner will be chosen randomly.</strong> The winner will receive one (1) WowWee Tribot. Approximate retail value is $80.<br /></li>
    <li>If you are chosen, you will be notified by email. Winners must respond within three days of the end of the contest. If you do not respond within that period, another winner will be chosen. </li>
    <li><strong>Entries can be submitted until Thursday, April 30th, at 11:59PM ET. </strong>Good luck!</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.engadget.com/official-giveaways-rules/">Full rules can be found here.</a></li>

Looking for something to pass the time, scratch that robotic itch <em>and</em> come in at under a Jackson? Look no further than WowWee's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/wowwee-mixes-it-up-at-ces-cinemin-pico-pj-new-alive-cubs-and-m/">Lightstar</a>, the latest and greatest addition to the outfit's growing <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/FlyTech/">FlyTech</a> family. The robot lovers over at <em>RobotsRule</em> were able to get their grimy hands around this here flying blade, and while they weren't expecting much for just $20, they came away delightfully enthralled. Essentially, there's no way to steer the chopper, but you can vary the acceleration and bounce it off of walls in order to keep your brain stimulated and a grin on your face. The real excitement kicked in when all the lights were flipped off and the <em>Pink Floyd</em> was cranked to 11. For a look at what we mean, check out the demonstration vid just past the break -- looks like $20 well spent from here.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/18/wowwees-lightstar-flying-blade-reviewed-a-cheap-thrill/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WowWee's Lightstar flying blade reviewed: a cheap thrill</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/18/wowwees-lightstar-flying-blade-reviewed-a-cheap-thrill/">WowWee's Lightstar flying blade reviewed: a cheap thrill</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 18 Jan 2009 13:07:00 EST. WowWee's DLP-fueled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/wowwee-mixes-it-up-at-ces-cinemin-pico-pj-new-alive-cubs-and-m/">Cinemin pico projectors</a> don't really set themselves apart from the other entries in this <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/PicoProjector/">ever-growing market</a>, but the competitively-priced Swivel, Stick and Station have poised themselves to come out swinging. The Swivel has a 480 x 360 resolution, three-hour battery life, and will retail this Spring for $299. We saw the screen, beaming an iPod nano video at various distances from the screen, and it came through decently despite the bad lighting conditions on the show floor. The Station and pocket-sized Stick both sport 800 x 480 resolution and an SD slot, with supported codecs not yet determined. Those two models are coming this Fall for $399 and $349, respectively.<br />

Can you say "diversify?" <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/WowWee/">WowWee</a> can, and it's saying it loudly and proudly here at <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CES2009/">CES 2009</a>. While the company has surely dabbled in areas outside of straight-up robotics before, it's never taken it upon itself to product a suite of pico projectors nor pets designed solely as sleeping companions. No need to wipe the sand from your eyes -- the same company responsible for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwee-introduces-mr-personality-rovio-and-flytech-bladestar/">Mr. Personality</a> is dish out a Cinemin line of micro PJs (powered by TI's DLP technology) here in the desert. Moving on, we're also informed of the Spyball spy-cam, a remote controller, WiFi-enabled robotic ball that strangely reminds us of <em>American Gladiators</em>. The company's got plenty more in its bag of tricks too, including the Joebot and Roborover robots, FlyTech Lightstar flyer / Hoverpod racer, four new breeds of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwee-lets-out-alive-animal-bots-fun-mini-bots/">Alive Cubs</a> and a fresh line of "pajama pals" dubbed Sleeping Cuties. Hop past the break for details on the whole crew.<br />

<div align="left"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/rovio">Rovio</a> owners have been able to control their all-seeing sentry bot from their iPhone (or any other internet-connected device) from day one using WowWee's browser-based interface, but one enterprising individual apparently found that a tad lacking for his taste, so he decided to take things one big step further by building his own full-fledged iPhone / iPod touch app. In addition to giving you a larger view of the Rovio's webcam feed, the app achieves the inevitable by letting you use the iPhone or iPod touch's accelerometer to control the Rovio, which should let you give your <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/14/robodance-enables-wiimote-control-of-your-wowwee-rovio/">Wiimote a rest </a>for a while. Our favorite robot-obsessed entity on these fine internets, RobotsRules, has put out a fairly disturbing video entitled "Vadersapien" as a purported followup to last year's "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/28/go-ahead-just-try-tickling-elmosapien/">Elmosapien</a>." What at first might be perceived as a harmless way to enjoy halloween with robots and bit of Vadery goodness quickly devolves into the dark exploration of a mind turned sour by the constant companionship of robots. We're positive <em>[insert name of favorite sci-fi novelist]</em> tried to warn us of this day, but there's really no preparing for a product of so much psychological disruption. It's after the break, of course.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/31/vadersapien-has-little-to-do-with-darth-much-to-do-with-a-troub/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Vadersapien has little to do with Darth, much to do with a troubled childhood</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/31/vadersapien-has-little-to-do-with-darth-much-to-do-with-a-troub/">Vadersapien has little to do with Darth, much to do with a troubled childhood</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 31 Oct 2008 23:50:00 EST. It's true -- we're suckers for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/06/disney-thinkway-toys-ultimate-wall-e-robot-cleans-up-on-camer/">anything</a> that simultaneously satisfies our lust for robotics <em>and</em> brings back childhood memories of passing the day with Disney films. To that end, we couldn't resist the opportunity to swoon over WowWee's latest stroke of brilliance, the $39.99 FlyTech Tinker Bell. Entirely more rad than that soulless <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/15/wowwees-flytech-bladestar-can-govern-your-home-autonomously/">Bladestar</a>, this here fairy promises to posses that same spirited sassiness as the Disney character, and the flower wand remote control really caps things off. She can buzz around and delight guests for 4-minutes on an 18-minute charge, and her "crash-resistant materials prevent her from getting into mischief." Oh wait, it's appropriate for Earthlings ages 6 years and up? Huzzah!<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/15/wowwee-flytech-slams-into-disney-out-pops-hovering-tinker-bell/">WowWee FlyTech slams into Disney, out pops hovering Tinker Bell</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 15 Oct 2008 10:24:00 EST. It's beginning to sound like a broken record, but WowWee has hit <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/05/wowwees-rovio-gets-reviewed-its-one-awesome-robotic-sentry/">yet another homer</a> with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwee-introduces-mr-personality-rovio-and-flytech-bladestar/">Mr. Personality</a>. The latest from the firm to jockey for your hard earned dollars includes an LCD face and enough jokes / stories to keep you engrossed for hours. Max and Simon -- this creature's very own Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde -- kept critics guessing, and each character was said to be "well developed and play off each other perfectly." Continuing on, reviewers noted that the omnidirectional wheels were "incredible," the remote was "simple and intuitive" and the sensor array was equally impressive. 'Tis a shame -- we bet you were really looking forward to holding onto that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/09/wowwees-mr-personality-robot-is-now-ready-to-charm-you-out-of/">$300 of yours</a>...<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/14/wowwees-mr-personality-reviewed-found-to-like-long-walks-on-t/">WowWee's Mr. Personality reviewed, found to like long walks on the beach</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 14 Oct 2008 22:36:00 EST. Ah, Robodance -- how <em>would</em> we entertain ourselves without you? Just under a year ago, the software enabled robot lovers everywhere to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/15/robodance-4-software-lets-you-control-i-sobot-with-a-wiimote/">control their i-SOBOT</a> with an everyday <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Wiimote/">Wiimote</a>. Now, the same ability has been handed down for WowWee's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Rovio/">Rovio</a>. You heard right, the latest, baddest robotic sentry on the block can now be dictated with your Nintendo Wii controller, and you can even customize your own button assignments to suit your fancy. Hop on past the break for the demonstration vid.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://hackedgadgets.com/2008/10/14/wowwee-rovio-hack-allows-wiimote-control/">Hacked Gadgets</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/14/robodance-enables-wiimote-control-of-your-wowwee-rovio/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Robodance enables Wiimote control of your WowWee Rovio</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/peripherals/" rel="tag">Peripherals</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/14/robodance-enables-wiimote-control-of-your-wowwee-rovio/">Robodance enables Wiimote control of your WowWee Rovio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 14 Oct 2008 21:22:00 EST. <div align="left">WowWee's Mr. Personality bot made its debut <a style="" href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwee-introduces-mr-personality-rovio-and-flytech-bladestar/">way back at CES</a> in January but, like some other <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/19/wowwees-rovio-robotic-sentry-ships-this-month/">WowWee </a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/15/wowwees-flytech-bladestar-can-govern-your-home-autonomously/">products</a> announced at the show, it's only just now made its way into availability. As you can see above, the bot's a close relative of WowWee's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/30/wowwees-tri-bot-gets-an-early-review/">Tri-Bot</a>, with it boasting the notable addition of an LCD screen for a face, which promises to "display <span id="ctl00_MainContent_ProductDetail" class="ProductDetail">his personality with animated and synchronized facial features.</span>" The bot also includes an SD card slot than can be used to add additional personalities, plus 64MB of internal memory, a remote control, all the usual sensors and, of course, plenty of fortune and joke-telling features that promise endless hours of fun / annoyance. Just be prepared to shell out for that robot companionship, as Mr. Personality's company will cost you a hefty $300.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.robocommunity.com/blog/entry/14207/Mr.-Personality-Available-For-Purchase-in-WowWee-Store/">Robo Community</a>]</div>

WowWee goes out of its way to make one thing very clear about the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Rovio/">Rovio</a>: "this is not a toy." That being said, it doesn't make the patrolling sentry any less fantastic, as critics over at <em>Robots-Dreams</em> proclaimed that it was "intuitive and a pleasure to use from the moment you first open the box." From the painless setup process to the unparalleled mobility, reviewers sounded like they were grinning from ear-to-ear during the entire writeup process. It performed its robotic sentry duties with vigor and valor, and the review crew couldn't help but note that this bugger was "positioned to be the hottest robot for the upcoming holiday season, and for a long time to come." In other words, if you've been on the fence about dropping <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/19/wowwees-rovio-robotic-sentry-ships-this-month/">three bills</a> on this thing, all your worries about it potentially sucking just got thrashed.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/05/wowwees-rovio-gets-reviewed-its-one-awesome-robotic-sentry/">WowWee's Rovio gets reviewed: it's one awesome robotic sentry</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 05 Oct 2008 17:04:00 EST. WowWee's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Rovio/">Rovio</a> isn't due to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/19/wowwees-rovio-robotic-sentry-ships-this-month/">start shipping</a> to the general populace for a few days still, but the mighty important folks over at <em>RobotsRule</em> were somehow able to procure one a hair early. Thankfully for us, it took the time to neatly unbox this home sentry and give us an up-close look at what it's made of. A full-fledged review is promised within the next few days, but for now, just hit the read link and enjoy the shots.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/22/wowwees-patrolling-rovio-gets-unboxed/">WowWee's patrolling Rovio gets unboxed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 22 Sep 2008 07:57:00 EST. The Rovio -- one of WowWee's finest if we should say so ourselves -- is finally ready to roam around domiciles and keep baddies at bay. First <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwee-introduces-mr-personality-rovio-and-flytech-bladestar/">announced</a> (and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/06/video-hanging-with-wowwees-wifi-enabled-rovio/">spotted</a>) at CES 2008, this long-awaited robotic sentry is up for pre-order right now, and it comes packing a 640 x 480 webcam to stream back live video in MPEG4 format. Furthermore, it can snap stills, head out on a customized patrol route and avoid obstacles with its infrared sensor. Get ready -- this sheriff's rolling into your town next Friday for $299.95.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.random-good-stuff.com/2008/09/19/guarding-home-security-robot/">Random-Good-Stuff</a>, thanks Juergen]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/19/wowwees-rovio-robotic-sentry-ships-this-month/">WowWee's $300 Rovio robotic sentry ships this month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 19 Sep 2008 14:43:00 EST. Indoor flying toys aren't hard to come by these days, but <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/WowWee/">WowWee</a>'s hoping you'll still be willing to drop a little bit of coin on indoor aerial supremacy. First introduced <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwee-introduces-mr-personality-rovio-and-flytech-bladestar/">at CES</a>, the $50 FlyTech Bladestar has helicopter-like blades for hovering, and built-in infrared sensors to avoid obstacles. You can control the Bladestar with the included remote, or stick it in autopilot mode to watch it avoid obstacles and even "push" it yourself by walking up to it. If it's war you're after, you can put the toy in "dogfight" mode to use the infrared signal as a weapon against an unfriendly Bladestar: three hits and you'll be testing WowWee's claims of crash-resistance. The Bladestar is available now. Cheesy Saturday-morning advertisement is after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/15/wowwees-flytech-bladestar-can-govern-your-home-autonomously/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WowWee's FlyTech Bladestar can govern your home autonomously</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc. If you've been on the fence about whether or not you want to spring for a WowWee <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Femisapien/">Femisapien</a>, perhaps a thorough, multi-page review would help. If you truck on over to robotsrule, you'll find an ultra-in-depth look at the female automaton, with explorations into the bot's interface, modes and behaviors, and a variety of other Femisapien idiosyncrasies. The conclusion? We'd have to say the reviewer is pretty much in full gush-mode over the new toy, calling it a "blockbuster hit" that's "destined to take over the world." We assume by "take over the world" they mean "obliterate humanity."<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/30/wowwees-femisapien-gets-reviewed-does-want-to-play-forever-and/">WowWee's Femisapien gets reviewed, does want to play forever and ever</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 30 Jul 2008 11:46:00 EST. It has been a hot minute since WowWee <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwee-lets-out-alive-animal-bots-fun-mini-bots/">let the Alive animals out of the zoo</a>, but this particular White Tiger Cub has just recently been loosed from its cage. Although it's just dying for an I Can Has Cheezburger? caption (feel free to drop your best in comments below), this cute cat looks to be the perfect play toy for small children or adults hoping to rekindle some of that youthful innocence. We're also told that the eyebrow and mouth movements are "quite realistic," but its the individual personality that really makes it worth coming back to. Check out the unboxing and a brief review in the read link, and peek a video of the feline in action after the cut.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/22/wowwees-alive-white-tiger-cub-gets-unboxed-showcased-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WowWee's Alive White Tiger Cub gets unboxed, showcased on video</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/22/wowwees-alive-white-tiger-cub-gets-unboxed-showcased-on-video/">WowWee's Alive White Tiger Cub gets unboxed, showcased on video</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 22 Jul 2008 09:21:00 EST. <div align="left">WowWee has been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwees-robotics-lineup-gets-some-new-additions/">talking up</a> its all-controlling RoboRemote since CES at the beginning of this year, but it looks like it's only recently found its way into availability, and it's now thankfully gotten reviewed as well. According to the folks at RoboCommunity, the remote fully delivers on its promise to control any IR-based WowWee robot, with the software (XP/Vista only, unfortunately) straightforward enough for most anyone to use, but apparently not so basic as to turn off more adventuresome robotics enthusiasts (who'll no doubt find some ways to use this without the basic software anyway). Couple that with the $20 price tag, and they say that this is a "must-have gadget" for any WowWee robot owner.<br /><br />[Thanks, Matt]<br /></div>

Don't deny it -- you blush a little each time you see <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwees-robotics-lineup-gets-some-new-additions/">that image above</a>. If you're secretly eager to learn all that you can about Femisapien and her gracious ways, <em>Robots Rule</em> has the goods. Expectedly, this gal is said to have "the most fluid movements of the WowWee family," and while we won't <em>emphatically agree</em> that including "her own language consisting of emotive sounds" is quite fitting... well, you committed fellows in the house know what's up. The $99 robot is said to be on track for a late summer release, but considering that you just can't wait until then to see her in action, head on past the break for a honest-to-goodness fencing demonstration. There's more where that one came from in the read link, too.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/wowwee-femisapien-routine-programming-demo-videos-1712100.php">SlashGear</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/18/wowwees-femisapien-gets-detailed-demonstrated-on-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WowWee's Femisapien gets detailed, demonstrated on video</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/18/wowwees-femisapien-gets-detailed-demonstrated-on-video/">WowWee's Femisapien gets detailed, demonstrated on video</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 18 Jun 2008 08:40:00 EST. Unless you've specifically been lookin' out, you may have very well forgotten about WowWee's crazed robotic dog that was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwees-robotics-lineup-gets-some-new-additions/">uncaged at CES</a>. After lasting through its first few days of training (which we'll call a review for our purposes), we're led to believe that this pup is "the silliest robot you'll ever love." Reviewers weren't shy in calling it like it saw it, as Wrex was hailed as "absolutely terrible at being a dog and even worse at being a robot." Of course, it's fairly easy to see this bugger was meant to provide comedic relief and not sophisticated companionship, so those pointers aren't exactly negative. Overall, Wrex is almost guaranteed to make you chuckle on a daily basis, and if you don't believe that, just check out the video waiting after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2008/06/wrex_the_dawg_robot.html?CMP=OTC-0D6B48984890">MAKE</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/04/wowwees-wrex-the-dawg-reviewed-puts-real-canines-to-shame/">WowWee's Wrex the Dawg reviewed: puts real canines to shame</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 04 Jun 2008 12:24:00 EST. <div align="left">We got a chance to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/06/video-wowwees-tribot-comes-alive-on-the-small-screen/">spend a bit of time</a> with WowWee's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/tribot">Tri-Bot</a> way back at CES earlier this year, but the folks at RobotsRule recently got a chance to put the bot through all its paces in advance of its summer release, and they've now churned out a fairly thorough review. On the whole, they seem to have been mightily impressed by the bot, and they think it'll appeal just as much to more DIY-minded folks as it will to kids, thanks in no small part to its unique wheel base and tilt sensor-equipped remote control. On the downside, the bot's sensors were unable to detect anything on the floor below its chest, and it apparently had a tendency to occasionally topple over while trying to climb walls (the ten minutes of pre-recorded audio also seems like it could get tiring real fast). If that hasn't made up your mind, you can check out the review in video form after the break.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.slashgear.com/wowwee-tri-bot-reviewed-low-cost-tilt-sensor-fun-3011830.php">Slash Gear</a>]</div>

Need some irony with your angst-battered diet this morning? Swell, try some of this. Disney and Pixar are set to release their latest animated blockbuster, WALL-E, this summer. The premise of the film finds WALL-E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter - Earth-Class) cleaning up the Earth's trash after <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/25/the-psp-cyber-case-2-lets-just-say-that-were-not-enthused/">rampant, unchecked consumerism</a> made the planet uninhabitable. So how do they promote the film? You got it, they launch a new line of plastic WALL-E robots developed in partnership with Thinkway Toys which no child could possibly live without. Ultimate WALL-E will list for $190 when launched sometime this summer and feature 10 motors, a remote control, and plenty of sensors to avoid obstacles, respond to touch, and feel the mocking satire of its own existence. The bot will be joined by a $25 iDance WALL-E (think <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/12/27/peak-of-civilization-reached-i-cy-penguin-to-chill-with-i-dog/">i-Species</a>) and a $40 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/flytech">WowWee FlyTech</a> Tinker Bell when they make their May 29th debut in San Mateo at the Maker Faire.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/30/disney-and-wowwee-team-up-on-cute-killer-bots-for-the-ironic-up/">Disney, WowWee, and Thinkway Toys team up on cute killer bots for the ironic uprising</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 30 Apr 2008 01:44:00 EST. WowWee says 45 people have reported hawk attacks in the past two months, and there's even a few pictures of the birds with their robotic prey out there -- like this one taken by fifth-grader Danny McGorry. We always knew the Dragonfly was fun, but this takes it to another level -- all we need now is a remote squirt gun mounted on the thing and we'll be ready to go. Ever wondered what would happen if you were to pit the Wowwee <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Roboquad/">Roboquad</a> against an excitable, yapping puppy? Wonder no longer, friends, as the answer to this age-old question has been captured on video -- replete with NES sound effects and 8-bit scorecard. Watch the battle for ultimate supremacy after the break... our money is on the dog.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://digg.com/pets_animals/Puppy_Vs_Robot_Epic_Battle_For_Territorial_Domination">Digg</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/27/puppy-vs-roboquad-the-ultimate-man-machine-showdown/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Puppy vs. Roboquad: the ultimate man-machine showdown</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/robots/" rel="tag">Robots</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/27/puppy-vs-roboquad-the-ultimate-man-machine-showdown/">Puppy vs. Roboquad: the ultimate man-machine showdown</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 27 Jan 2008 20:13:00 EST. We're a little disappointed that we didn't get to see exactly how much personality WowWee's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwee-introduces-mr-personality-rovio-and-flytech-bladestar/">Mr. Personality</a> had in him, but <a href="http://daily.mahalo.com">Mahalo Daily</a>'s Veronica Belmont scored some facetime with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/05/wowwees-robotics-lineup-gets-some-new-additions/">Tribot</a>, and we'll admit that his three-wheeled dancing moves are pretty impressive.
